Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kyo had more free time than he was used to these days, he still hadn’t been cleared to return to performing missions due to his minor injury. It was essentially healed and caused no issues due to his previous experience with more grievous injuries, and the ability that his blood provided him. Still, they had wanted him to relax for a while longer, and while normally he would work on his plans, or spend more time in the forest to work with the violin or his voice, one could only do either so much without causing issues or raising suspicions. As such he had decided to dedicate more time to assisting the youth of Kumo, something he did on occasion, though usually those that had no capability with Chakra, as they were always more neglected than those that could attend the academy. Even when the academy had displayed that those without chakra control could defeat a nin with the proper training and knowledge, as demonstrated by the guest teacher that they had brought in for the class they tended to neglect teaching those techniques to their citizens. He understood that it may make enemies, but it would also bring forth the capability for the citizens to resist in a war should one occur, allowing Kumo to be even more secure. Still, he understood that he had a privileged upbringing, with his family capable of training him beyond what was expected and allowed in the academy, which is why he had jumped ranks in such a manner as he had. Most others didn’t have the benefit of coming from an established family or clan such as he did, and they needed the extra instruction due to the way the academy was structured, it helped push them all out with minimal skill needed, and left those that were already skilled or even just at the average alone unless they caught the eye of one of the individual teachers who might take them under their wing. This is why he had agreed to meet with and possibly assist in instructing of one of the students.

Kyo had left instructions for the one he was to be assisting to meet him in Cronopolis, in the same area he occasionally used for storage of his own personal goods, as well as a training ground for those incapable of utilize chakra. The building was rundown, as many in the area were even with the renovations that were currently happening that pushed out the less fortunate and replaced them with those who could ‘gentrify’ the area. People believed that what they were doing was good, helping those less fortunate, but in reality it mostly meant forcing those less fortunate to move somewhere else as they could no longer afford to live in the area, causing just as many if not more issues than it solved. Some might confuse the area for one being gentrified, for it was clean, lacking graffiti and generally quiet, with the people in the area more respectful and standing taller than those one might expect. From the moment the street was entered, one could feel eyes on them, following their movements and a sullen distrust of the outsider. Upon entering the building, they would find that it was mostly clean, with a pile of trash and debris collected off to the side, some obviously having already been taken care of at some recent point. Kyo was standing in the back of the empty space, simply awaiting the arrival of the one he was to train, or the news that the area had spooked them and that they had left area. It was the first part of the training, simply test of courage to see if they would make through the less savory areas of the world and reaching the destination. It wasn’t a particularly difficult one for most, but there were those who had never been exposed to the filth that one would encounter in the Cronopolis, and its human refuse that inhabited the area. When they arrived Kyo would greet them simply with a dispassionate look and a silent nod.

After her last class, Aya was working hard to do what she could to get stronger, with whatever was available to her. Her own upbringing made her have a lack of book knowledge and ninjutsu knowledge. She was well off in the Taijutsu area, though she never knew she was using chakra with her Taijutsu. She could use ninjutsu, it just was not something she was used to, plus she didn't quite know how to train it on her own since boos could only tell her so much. She was pretty much sticking to Taijutsu since it was something she caught onto a lot faster. SHe did know some Ninjutsu, most of it she had to train extremely hard to even use correctly. But at least she was trying to do more than just Taijutsu.

Aya was ecstatic when she received an invitation for a tutor, someone was going out of their way to teach her. A class was one thing, yes the teacher was going out of their way to teach a group of kids, and they usually did a good job, but it was their job as well. A tutor was more personal, and it showed people actually wanted her to become a ninja. It made her get out of the slump she usually was in. Aya got up a lot earlier than usual to make sure she had what she needed to. She made sure to eat and check her gear. Not that she had that much gear to begin with. She had a pair of fingerless gloves to protect her knuckles, a pouch with various tools, and some light armor under her clothing.

Aya had grown a bit, but not too much since she came to Kumo, but her appearance hadn't changed much at all, she still wore glasses, her green baggy jacket, white tank top, and black boots. Her orange hair was a little longer, but she was able to keep up with it.

When Aya saw the address, she had to look it up on a map. He'd never been to that side of Kumo, she'd been warned to stay out of the area until its finished, but there was no avoiding it anyway. Aya knew this was basically the slums, much like where she grew up in. She knew it might bring back some tough memories, but there had to be a reason why the tutor was being held here.

Aya entered the district with her jacket zipped up, with how big her jacket was it concealed everything on her. She wasn't sure if the people here were as bad as where she came from, but it was better safe than sorry. She didn't show any fear, but the normal smile she usually wore was missing while she was walking.

Luckily she made it to the place without anyone confronting her, but she did feel eyes on her, almost like vultures waiting to get a picking. Maybe that was over exaggerated, but that's how she felt. She entered what she assumed was a where house, she took a quick glance around, then she looked at the figure waiting inside. She gave him a smile "I'm Aya, are you my Tutor?" She asked in a happy tone of voice, but it had a sense of weariness as if she didn't want to put down her guard just yet. For all she knew this could be a trap, but if it wasn't she didn't want to seem hostile.

When Aya spoke with the happy tone Kyo raised an eyebrow, he knew the girl from the hot spring, though he wasn’t sure why that would make her happy. “I’m glad you found your way without trouble, you have no need for the jacket here..” He spoke calmly, no real infliction to his voice as he gave her a nod in answer to her question. “It seems you’ve not been scooped up by any of my little birds along the way, this is a good start.” He paused a moment before continuing, “There are many things worth teaching, many lessons one needs. Now tell me, what is it you desire to learn?” It was a simple enough question and a genuine one he wished answered honestly as well. Kyo had not moved from his location in the back of the warehouse, nor did he beckon or indicate what she should do other than the questions. His gaze was heavy and focused solely upon the girl in front of him. He hadn’t fully considered how harsh the training he would put the student that stood before him through as of yet, he would only truly decide based upon how she answered his question. He had already made up his mind that he would not be unduly cruel regardless. After all he intended this to be a teaching experience, and one that would allow them to become a better nin for Kumo, it wasn’t meant to be a punishment as so much of his own training with his father had been.

As soon as the girl began to answer his question Kyo would walk to his left, her right and in a slow measured pace approach her, staring intently, until he stood within his arms reach of her, he wouldn’t say anything, nor acknowledge the sound of something scattering across the floor of the warehouse echoing loudly as it did out of sight on the other side of the warehouse, his course and attention seemed focused entirely on the girl as he silently approached. While he towered over her he wasn’t attempting to intimidate her, though he realized it may easily be misconstrued as such. How she reacted to this would tell him more about her, and with the answer to the question, allow him to figure out exactly what he intended to do.

Aya's question was answered in a way, though she wondered what he meant by little birds, like actual birds, or people? She moved on from the thought quickly as he asked her what she wanted to learn. She took a brief moment to think, what did she want to learn, and could he teach her what she wanted to learn. Her smile was still there, but it was small and almost non-existent. "I want to become a shinobi, one worthy of this village." She stated, mostly to herself.

"I want to be able to get into the elite force of this village. So I want to learn everything I can. I feel I am lacking in teamwork skills, Ninjutsu skills, and basic battle Tactics." Aya spoke truthfully about herself, it was probably the most she had said about herself since joining the village. But she knew that he needed to know a little more about her in order to teach her what she needed. Though she didn't go into personal details too much since they were unnecessary. She also avoided saying ANBU, but if he was a shinobi of the village, he'd probably assume she meant that. She took a light risk, but she could've meant just the top shinobi, and not ANBU. Either way, it was up to him to figure out if she meant anbu or not.

Despite him slowly moving in, Aya's words never quivered. Her voice stayed strong and almost confident. He was taller than her, he towered over her like a giant. It was intimidating to her, but she didn't back away, maybe she was overconfident in her skills of getting away if he meant harm, but there had to be a reason right? That or he really was just trying to scare her. Bringing her to a spooky place, then coming close to look down upon her, it made her feel small. She was small, but it made her realize how small she actually was, in all terms. She stood her ground despite this thought passing through, she fought those thoughts every day, but she was too stubborn to give in.

He was covered in scars, he had been through a lot. Aya then recognized that he was the guy from the bathhouse, the one that the weird older woman was fawning over. It was hard to tell before, but she now knew. She decided not to say anything since that could be saved for after he taught her whatever it was.

When she answered Kyo understood her immediately, it had once been a goal of his own after all, back when he ran with Miku and during his adventures with Doki the eight armed ANBU in the Ancient Forest. Hell, he had very nearly joined them after passing the Chuunin exam when offered. It wasn’t exactly subtle either. Kyo looked down on the girl, she hadn’t retreated, hadn’t broke or had a shaky voice, she had a good answer, and a seeming desire for a laudable goal. Unfortunately perhaps for her, that indicated to Kyo he should be harsher than he would otherwise be.

“Good.” He said simply before turning and striding back to the other end of the warehouse. “Teamwork requires a team, battle tactics a battle. Both of these you lack currently, so we shall today focus on your Ninjutsu, next lesson I shall have some of my little birds ready to join in. Then we can work upon both of those with experience rather than simply from books or lectures.” As Kyo stopped speaking he performed a series of hand seals, and a moment later opened his mouth wide expelling rock and stone that scrapped and rolled together to form a squat bipedal creature that stood slightly taller than Aya. “We’ll start with something simple. Kill it.” As he spoke Kyo sank into the ground he was standing upon and the creature that stood before her started after the girl, a horrible scraping sound as it slid swiftly across the floor seeking to jab its stumpy arm into her torso, seeming to have taken Kyo’s words as an order. If she didn’t dodge the straight forward blow it would be gut-wrenching, and become quite clear that his words had been taken as an order, even blocking or just a light hit would cause the girl a great deal of pain. It would keep pressure on her, following after her if she tried to retreat and keep attacking if she tried to stand her ground. How she dealt with the creature was left up to her, but he had implied that this was to be her ninjutsu training.

Aya listened to him and nodded, though she was taken off guard when he spat out a rock. A huge rock, not only big, but it was alive. Then he told her to kill it. She nodded, and her facial expression changed to a serious tone. Just like when she fought her classmates, she was given a target, and she'd destroy it. Though he said they'd work on her ninjutsu, so she did not equip her gloves. Kyo disappeared into the ground, a similar jutsu her classmate Shizuka used. "Alright." She stated simply, she felt like was is easy taking out a rock, but she knew rocks could be extremely hard, no pun intended.

The Golem made a loud scraping noise as it approached her, fast, but she was faster. But she barely dodged it, despite her new found speed, she lingered too long and nearly got hit. She used her momentum from dodging to do a counter strike, making hand seals as fast as she could to create a water whip. This jutsu she saw in her recent fight, and she worked hard to learn it. It took one of her teammates out in one hit, though she doubted that'd be enough to take out this rock. Whether the whip hit the golem oh not, Aya moved a few feet away to cast an area of effect Jutsu, this one she picked up on her own.

It looked like waves of heat without the actual heat, it was like reality in itself was being disrupted, and twisted. Aya didn't know what exactly this jutsu did but it was something she recently learned and wanted to try out anyways. Maybe the two attacks combined would be enough to take out the rock, though, she was going to stay on her toes. A hit from this thing looked like it could easily make her lose her breath, or break a bone.

Kyo watched the action from his place under the ground, allowing his tremor sense to fill in the details as he slithered around. He liked her reaction to the threat; she didn’t panic or take it too lightly. This was good, seriousness in the face of danger or task was needed for what she wanted to accomplish. She had set about it in the proper manner, something several students never did while he was attending the academy alongside them, which meant she was already ahead of them, as even if she wasn’t as skilled, the change in attitude and personality was more difficult than learning new tricks to channeling chakra and the like that may hold some back.

From his underground position Kyo was frowning as she danced about it his little creation, it seemed to be having trouble tracking her properly, but she hadn’t used anything that should have caused the issue that Kyo could tell. Her strike with the water whip was solid, and too swift. Kyo’s face popped from the ground to watch the fight so that he could understand what was happening, his tremor sense wasn’t giving him enough information. The jutsu she was in the process of using as the golem started towards here wasn’t something he had seen before. The waves of.. He wasn’t sure what it was that struck his exposed face was painful in an interesting way, he hadn’t felt anything quite like it before. It was disorienting for a moment before his tremor sense ‘corrected’ and brought everything back into the right focus.

Kyo’s head turned to the side as he reached up and pulled the rock creature into the ground with his off hand and popped from the earth standing tall before little Aya. “There is something off.” He stated, the rock golem struggling against its earth prison ineffectively as stared hard down at Aya, “Show me that last jutsu again.” If she obliged he would state, “Again.” It was partially for his own curiosity, but also because it had been the most effective one she had used. If she refused his hand would reach out to cuff her on the back of the head, not to hard but hard enough to get his point across before he would repeat, “Again.” This would be repeated until either, she was unable to repeat it, she had performed it ten separate times or she quit, he wouldn’t allow her to run away without actually quitting and would follow her if she chose to retreat. Each time she did the hand seals he would urge her to perform it quicker. Kyo himself wouldn’t seem worse for the wear if she performed the jutsu as he demanded, though it would fairly quickly destroy the rock golem that was still stuck in the ground behind Kyo.

Aya felt like she was doing well, but suddenly Kyo popped out of the ground and put the Golem in an earth prison. He stated something was off, and Aya glanced around the room. She couldn't sense if anything was off, but she did believe him. The golem was staring her down, she could understand why, he was created to attack her, and now he was stuck. He then told her to use that jutsu again, she blinked, "Why-" He then cuffed the back of her head cutting her off. She wondered why he was fascinated with this jutsu, She wasn't even sure if it actually worked since she had never tried it on anyone.

Aya quickly made the hand seals to do it again, and again. She hadn't mastered the jutsu yet, but she was able to replicate it a few times. But as quickly as she could, wasn't fast enough, He told her to do it again and again. She failed the third time, the sixth time. Each time she forced her hands to go faster. She was more scared of what he'd do if she didn't do as he said since she assumed he was more powerful. But she did her best to not allow that to show, and get in the way of her jutsu. Though the Golem crumbled after a few of the Jutsu, so it actually was doing damage, he seemed to be able to handle it though so she didn't worry about his health too much. She didn't want to make him lose consciousness, but he kept telling her to keep doing it.

After ten successful times, almost fourteen tries altogether, he finally stopped asking her to repeat the Jutsu. She was able to perform the hand seals faster, but it seemed the strength of the jutsu stayed the same. She couldn't tell really, but it was easier to cast, but she felt like she was nearing her chakra limit. It was easy to tell, but she tried to make it look like she was good to go on longer. "So why is this Jutsu special enough to make me repeat it over, and over?" She pondered out loud to him. She wanted to know since she didn't fully know what this jutsu was.

Kyo watched as she did as she was told, the world distorting each time, he was sure that this was part of the issue he had sensed, it didn’t explain what had happened earlier for certain, but the distortion effect that the jutsu had every time it was successfully utilized might explain why the creature had not performed as it should have. It was an interesting effect, it was painful, more painful than the actual damage it caused, and it was an area effect as it had struck both him and the golem when he had first witnessed it. He was sure he understood what was happening well enough at the end of her use of it that he had satisfied his curiosity and had taught him something more of the girl that he had before him.

“Why? It was effective, the damage it caused was an area of effect,” He nodded his head towards the missing golem, “the effect was also novel, it distorts the view, and feeling of space that those struck by it have. You had issues that with your hand seals, And honesty to sate my own curiosity. You were capable of in the end of performing it at a well enough level, but you were too hesitant to begin with.” He gave a solid nod before giving a loud whistle with his fingers placed lightly on the tip of his tongue and lips.

A moment later two people entered carrying various things, one had a pitcher and cup and the other had a towel and small serving of dried meats and fruits. “Eat and drink, whip yourself down before you leave. This is enough for today. The feeling you had while performing the jutsu, keep a hold of that and practice on your own. If you wish to train further, send word to the Hotaka Compound. We’ll expand into other topics or further your jutsu usage.” It was clear that he had dismissed her and the two approached and offered her what it was they carried. Kyo for his part returned back to the position he had been in when she had entered, standing in the back of the warehouse, simply watching.

Aya nodded to Kyo, she did see the jutsu's effects, but they didn't affect her. She was glad she decided to try it here, she really didn't think it through though. What if it didn't do anything? She'd probably be forced to use other Jutsu. This jutsu seemed special, and she was only able to use it after unlocking her bloodline. Maybe it was connected? The way he explained it and the feeling was the same as when she zoomed around. She didn't use her speed to get here, she wanted to but she didn't want to attract attention. "I just figured out this jutsu, after discovering my Seikon bloodline." She said with a nod, it only to tell him since he seemed interested in the Jutsu. She did need to stop dithering with her jutsu, it was the thoughts in the back of her head that made her slack, but that was just an excuse.

Aya winced slightly as he whistled, moments later people walked in carrying food, and what she assumed was water. She blinked as he told her to eat and drink. It made her wonder who was he? Was he the leader of a gang, and were these guys his flunkies? She knew better not to question it, because if it were true then she wanted to stay out of it. He was helpful though, it helped her discovered more about herself. "Thank you." She stated with a sincere smile. She then took a drink of water, before speaking again "One day I'll be strong enough to fight you." SHe stated boldly. She wasn't scared to say it, she was a little scared of him, but she could get over that easily. She felt like she had to prove herself to people, in order to become a shinobi. She had goals.

After eating, and regaining her energy, Aya said her goodbye, zipped back up her jacket and threw up her hood. She then left with a final smile and a wave before turning away and looking at the ground. She was still wary of the area. It had less graffiti than her hometown, but she knew how desperate people could get.

When the little one explained that the jutsu came from her discovery of her bloodline it made more sense to Kyo was to why he hadn’t seen it before. He returned her nod, he would add it to the information he researched in the Library, it was good to have more information and to always be learning, especially about the abilities of other nin. It would make an interesting reading topic, if the books were available to him that was; there were plenty of texts he could not access due to his rank. It was aggravating but understandable; some information was simply to sensitive to share with any that had a shred of doubt about their loyalties.

When she thanked him Kyo would have simply nodded once, he did not smile, it simply wasn’t his way. When she told him that she would one day be strong enough to fight him a touch of a smile did tinge his face, though it left faster than it appeared, “I look forward to that day Aya.” And he truly did, it would mean there were more that could do what was needed, which meant he wouldn’t have to take as much on his own, as well as that there were others that he could rely upon to help protect his family.

Kyo watched her consume some of the offerings, and when she suited back up to leave gave her a parting nod for her smile and wave. The two who had provided the items of Aya came over to stand next to Kyo looking at him quietly. After a moment Kyo turned to them and gave the man a light pat on the shoulder, “Every day Kumo grows stronger. When she is out of the area, go ahead and set everything back up and begin practice again. I’ll have a new text for you all that I will demonstrate next week.” As he spoke he produced said text and handed it to them before a small bundle of yen followed, his latest earnings, “Keep the firewood and food well stocked.” The two both nodded and Kyo returned it before he left. He wanted to spend some time with his brothers before he started seriously again, it could be some time before he had free time like this again after all.
