It wasn’t an easy task Kamaru realized a few hours ago but it was a start since the rest of the options they had to track down things didn’t pan out. As the initial group had gotten back with Kamaru they went into referencing pictures to find people that had worked at multiple sites. Unfortunately several did. Getting a stack of sketched together though helped as more investigators came in with records. Putting together companies where multiple records of the same guy working at their work places flagged several but it narrowed the list down greatly.
The investigators were more concerned with the quick decisions coming from Kamaru as he reviewed photos.
”Not this one’s a disguise. See the facial tension around the eye? If it’s lazy why is it tensing for the photo? It’s probably a small disguise to through off his look slightly.” Kamaru stated pointing out minor things he seemed to knit pick at. ”See here they knew it was going to be a black and white photo in advance for these sites see the variation in skin tone like if he had a birth mark, some kind of condition, or scar? It probably didn’t show up when you see him normally so if you show the photo people would guess it looks similar but it’s not him due to the imperfection. You’re the guy they see but not the one they think they’re looking to see. It’s one of the things you do.” Kamaru explained as he shuffled through photo after photo.
The stack had dropped quite a bit from over forty to less than fourteen now. Although some were at all the sites the men were still at a loss on what exactly they were looking for.
”So we’re going back to sit on all the sites and see who shows up and runs?” one investigator inquired a bit confused.
”On the contrary, we’re going to see who doesn’t show up and ask about that one. Is he sick? Did he do decent work? Is he skipping out on the job?” Kamaru clarified.
”We’re going to be looking for someone that seems shy or quit, kept to themselves for the most part. Didn’t rock the boat or stand out in any way really. It’s usually a lot easier to steal things unnoticed if you seem bland and uninteresting. No one sees what you’re doing wrong if they’re not paying attention to you in the first place.” Kamaru added.
Kamaru spun in his chair between the investigators when someone rushed in to get his attention by what he said.
”Come again?” Kamaru asked wanting to verify.
”The owner is conscious.” the messenger repeated.
Kamaru was already gathering photos with a grin forming on his face.
”I’m going to need two of you to interview him as part of the investigation after I talk to him. I have an idea he might be in on it but I don’t know why or if he is for sure. Don’t mention we think he’s in on it, also I need someone to pull up information the coffee shop as well.” Kamaru.
Kamaru didn’t want to tell them he wanted to ask the man some questions with the impression he was going to kill him if he talked to the cops about what he really knew. That might imply the fact Kamaru was actually working for the killer. Hopefully he’d listen to Kamaru, more important to Kamaru though he wished fort them to talk about something else.
