Yamamoto Ryuzaki
[col]Name: Yamamoto Ryuzaki
Age: 9
Gender: Male
Bloodline: Seikon
Rank: Academy Student
Physical Description: Even though Ryu is only nine years old, it is apparent that he has an ectomorphic build. Standing at 4’ 5”, he weighs just above 27 kg. The boy is extremely light on his feet and thanks to his obsessive hobby of climbing trees and buildings since the day he could walk, his muscles are as toned and lean as they can be for a nine-year-old. Ryu, like everyone in his family, has straight black hair and even darker eyes. His eyes are rather large on his small face, making him look a lot more innocent and naïve than he is. He has a small nose and pointy chin. Despite his constant effort to keep his neck-long hair neat and groomed, he always finds them sticking out wildly owing to his outdoorsy nature. While he loves spending time out under the sun, his pale skin is extremely sensitive and is prone to sunburns. Therefore, he always covers himself completely from neck to toe. Including his finger-gloves and shoes, almost his entire attire is black. If the weather calls for it, he also wears a long black trench-coat to keep himself warm. He carries his ninja tools on a small pouch that he hangs on his leg, just above the knee.
Mental Description: Ryu is an easy-going, hyperactive kid. So far, the boy had had a brilliant childhood and have seen nothing but love and happiness. While both his parents and his twin sister acted like he was a nuisance, which he mostly was, there was no doubt that they all loved him dearly in their own way. His mother was mostly concerned about him skipping lunch, his father struggled to keep him from climbing trees, and his sister simply wished he would be less annoying. Other than that, nothing else was expected of the boy from his family, and that was probably why he never had any ambition or drive. There were only two things he cared about: play and sleep.
It takes a lot to rile Ryu up. He is usually very cheerful and charming, and stays far from any bullies who might ruin his mood. One can insult and belittle him as much as they want, and he still wouldn’t move a muscle to defend. He does what he pleases and does not care what others think of him. However, he cannot stand those who insult his family or friends, and that is the only time he shows his angry side. When angry, he thinks less and attacks recklessly, even if it meant putting himself in dangerous situations.
The only reason Ryu chose the path of a shinobi was because he was pressured into becoming one by the Yamamoto clan members. Not wanting to break the long tradition of Yamamoto men, Ryu decided to attend the academy. He thought if nothing, being a shinobi will at least make him look cool among his peers.
History: Ryuzaki, along with his twin sister Ryoko, was born on a lovely clear afternoon to Raiden Yamamoto and Akane Seikon. Technically, Ryuzaki was born three minutes before his twin sister and is considered to be the first born by the Yamamoto family. However, according to his mother’s family, the one who was born second is the elder one. So, who is the elder one among the two is of constant debate in the Yamamoto household. And this debate is also one of the primary argument points between the twins, where one tries to make the other obey by pulling the ‘I’m the elder one’ card.
The Yamamoto family is always arguing and bickering, but love each other very dearly. While they may be the loudest household in the neighbourhood, they are also the happiest. The Yamamoto is an old, conservative clan where all the men become shinobi, while the women were supposed to take care of the family. Following the tradition, after marrying Raiden, Akane gave up her kunoichi life and dedicated her time raising Ryuzaki and Ryoko.
Being raised in a patriarchal family, Ryuzaki enjoyed an unfair share of attention and freedom compared to his sister Ryoko. To add insult to injury, Ryu had the habit of rubbing it in his sister’s face. The two were always competing with each other in everything they did. Both of them seemed to enjoy races; while his sister was clearly faster than him on empty grounds, Ryu was much better at obstacle races thanks to his parkour experience. It is in such intense races that Ryu’s Seikon bloodline sometimes manifests to aid him. There have been several occasions where the boy had fallen from tall places, but somehow managed to accidentally warp to a safer location. Sometimes, Ryu found himself phasing through a wall when he had dashed into a dead end at uncontrollable speeds. If not for his Seikon abilities, the boy would have broken several bones in his body over the years of reckless climbing and running.
Such squabbles were childish until the two were of age to join the academy. Ryu always knew he had to join the academy and become a shinobi. Although he was not thrilled about working hard or becoming an accomplished shinobi, he did not want to argue and decided to join. He believed, he could at least show off being a ninja to his sister to make her jealous. However, to his surprise, Ryoko was extremely stubborn about joining the academy with him. Seeing Ryu’s lack of motivation and Ryoko’s stubbornness, Raiden decided to put the two to a challenge. He told Ryoko that she can continue to be a shinobi if she graduated academy before Ryuzaki, and he told Ryuzaki that he would be bringing shame to the Yamamoto clan if he let a girl beat him. And hence began the rivalry between the twins, where both strive to prove themselves better than the other.
Note: Ryoko and I live together. I give her permission to use my character in her history.
