Name: Yamauchi Shizuko
Age: 9 (her birthday is early in the year; the equivalent to February!)
Gender + sex: Female
Physical Description: Being a young girl, Shizuko isn't very tall. At 125cm (4'3'') even most girls her own age are quite a bit taller than her. Of course, her weight also reflects her smaller stature at 25-27kg (55-60lbs). She is easily spotted in a crowd anyway because of her very bright red hair, which reaches down just past her shoulderblades. Her red eyes could be considered intimidating if one would stare into them too long, although that's mostly because of her way at looking at other people. However, despite her shorter stature and somewhat smaller weight she has always been a healthy kid filled with energy which explains why it's not that incommon to see her with a scrape or two on her elbows and knees. Her face barely has any distinct features besides her red eyes and her small cut just underneath her right eye. Her jawline is smooth, her shoulders are not particularly pronounced and her hips/chest haven't started to grow yet due to her young age. All in all a healthy, normal child on the smaller side of things.
Mental Description: While she is as healthy as described above, she hides darker sides of her within her mind. It's not like she is an evil child, she just has tendencies that might not be considered normal or even healthy. She's the kind of kid that rather squash the bug than study it. The kid that rather tears her toys apart instead of playing with them. One could consider her to be destructive, although she doesn't really think of it as destroying things. She doesn't think it's fun and it doesn't particularly fill her with adrenaline by breaking things, but rather it's a coping mechanism for her. A way to handle stress and pain in her life, which there are no shortage of. However, despite her darker tendencies she still has a great respect for other people, especially shinobi's. She wants to be one eventually and often she sits at a higher place watching as shinobi's run through the village as they're training or doing missions and dreams of someday being one of them. When she is spoken to, she tends to smile with an innocent and cute smile, but if a conversation were to drag out or someone pressured her in anyway her gaze would quickly turn from innocent child to frightened and possibly terrifying. Her patience is limited after all and more often than not does it turn out that she has fought with another kid because she got pressured, teased or otherwise been made to feel uncomfortable.
History: Sadly her history isn't very happy. Her mother died the day she was born; her mother was sickly and had an already deadly fever when she went into labor, pushing her body just past its limits which ended her life. Because of that, Shizuko has been raised solely by her father whom isn't a very nice man. He used to be a very kind, caring man but his unhealthy devotion to his wife took a nasty turn once Shizuko was born. The love he had shown her mother had turned into a hatred for his only child, as he was claiming it was Shizuko's fault her mother had died. That she was the cause of his big loss. Almost everytime he spoke to her he called her names. He almost always refused to address her by her name. If she was a bit tardy with a chore, or if she failed to do something he had told her to do there was sure to be some physical punishment following that; that's actually how the cut under her right eye came to be. When Shizuko turned seven her father went out on a mission, much like he usually did. He tended to go on long missions without giving Shizuko any means of surviving at home. However, this one mission turned out to be his last as he died to wild animals after having gotten stuck in a trap presumably set up by a rival village. The blood from his wounds had attracted both bears and wolves and together they ended his miserable life. But no matter how nasty he was, he had still put food on the table to some extent for Shizuko. Since he died, she was left alone. Luckily there were people in the village, mainly older ladies, whom had cared for her where her father hadn't, and while they didn't take her in to live with them, they always made sure she had enough food to survive living alone in her parents old home. Since she was always sad and ended up in fights with other kids or she ended up destroying someone else's property, she didn't have many friends. Actually she had none at all. She always sat on her own, aside from the other children, as she watched them play and have fun. As she lived alone, her confidence slowly deteriorated until she barely had the courage to leave her home without feeling watched and hated. At this point she had no dreams or ambitions. She didn't want to be anything. If anything, she just wanted to die, to stop be a burden for everyone. In many ways she even hated herself. When she had just turned nine her suffering eventually reached its peak. She ventured out in the village, walking as hidden as she could in order to avoid other people. She was looking for a place where should could end her life, be it from a bridge, a tall building or simply by getting beat up by someone until she eventually died. She climbed ontop of the tallest building and prepared herself to jump when suddenly she was approached by an adult female ninja. She can't remember her name or what she looked like but her voice is still instilled deep within Shizuko's heart. The voice that told her that life was worth living. And even if she didn't think it was, the best way to die was when protecting someone else. She gave Shizuko hope. She helped the girl down from the building, lead her home and told her to seek out the academy. And even though it took Shizuko a while to gather the courage, eventually she applied to join the ninja academy to become just like the woman who had helped her.
