Azami is a skinny, frail girl, a bit short for her age, standing at 4 feet and 9 inches. She's got long, platinum blonde hair that she often braids in different styles or just lets it loose. She's got light skin, which for some reason has a hard time tanning no matter how many time Azami spends in Suna's sun. She's got light blue eyes, small button nose and rosy lips. Most of her attire consists of light, loose dresses, suitable for her village's weather. Azumi seems to be fond of the colors white and blue, which make her eyes stand out. She's always wearing a golden bracelet which is the only thing she's got left from her mother.

Azami is a quiet and reserved girl, spends most of her time observing others rather than enganging in conversations. Prefers being on her own most of the time. Deep down, she's more emotional than she lets on, but Azami's learned to conceal her emotions. She's kind and empathetic, but lately she's been trying to get rid of those traits and be more cold, because she's tired of getting hurt and wants to appear stronger. Very stubborn and determined, if she wants to achieve something she will give her all. Isn't afraid to stand up for herself or anybody else.

Yanagita Azami was born and raised in Sunagakure. Her parents died on a mission when she was six years old. Since then, Azami has lived with her aunt, who isn't the best parental figure a child would ask for, so Azami has had to take care of herself. She's got two older brothers, but has no idea where they are, since they were also with their parents on their fatal mission, but no one's heard of them ever since or found their bodies. The little girl's used to being on her own and dealing with everything on her own; she's even lived on the streets for some time as her aunt is very irresponsible and brings random men who want to hurt her and her niece at her home. A situation that changed Azami's life was when her friend, Naizen, an innocent boy was seriously injured by older kids who were genin level ninjas and just wanted someone to mess around with. Naizen couldn't get help on time and died in Azami's arms. Ever since, she wanted to become a medic ninja and help others, because a little help could make a difference and save somebody's life.
