Name: Yoru, Nanashi
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Sex: Male
General Description: Having rich red coloured short hair contrasting his deep green eyes, one may doubt Nanashi’s heritage for someone who has lived his entire life as an assistant to a fisherman in the coastal Port Cirrus. He has olive skin and quite tall for his age, standing at 162cm and weighing at 50kg. Despite the hardships of life, he always has a friendly expression, and his eyes always seem like they're searching, wonder-filled and curious. He can usually be seen wearing a geometrical patterned shirt underneath his green jacket, and greyish trousers, with knee-length boots.
As a person, Nanashi is quite content with his life, having been raised by a fisherman and seemingly used to hard labor, he appreciates any reward and knows that hardwork and determination can take him to places. Despite not knowing his own origins, Nanashi is thankful for the fisherman who found and raised him, even enduring the hard times when the fighting in the Bear-Marsh border would also threaten them. So, when the fisherman decided that he should try and carve his own name by joining the academy, he accepted the latter’s decision even if he didn’t really feel the need for it. As such, Nanashi is still quite unsure of his potential as a ninja, always falling back to his foster-parent’s words and belief that he would succeed. Thus, he would show the same dedication he had during his time with the fisherman against the new struggles. And though he isn’t keen to uncover his own origins, he has a feeling that he would learn more about the world and himself if he pushes through in this path.
History: The boy was found as an infant one night near the Bear-Marsh border when the fisherman was passing. The onset of the war and the many calamitous events that befell Lightning Country of those years had almost sucked the life and hope of this fisherman that when he saw the infant, he held it close and cried. ‘Why would such a life be left to die? Has the world decided to go mad? Will the future be the same as the present?’ Such words ran through his mind until he finally decided that he would not let such a life be wasted there. And so the fisherman would bring the infant with him as he returned to his home and raised him as his own.

As far as he knew, Nanashi had nothing in common with his foster-parent. Early on, he knew they were different, having red hair was quite striking compared to the old man’s black, and his green eyes were almost full of life compared to the old man’s dull greys. Nevertheless, he was happy to be treated as a real son by the humble fisherman and he had lived most of his life trying to learn the ways of their trade.
However, there would be times when he would feel as though he wants to search for something, like an urge to grab hold of something illusive. It was that feeling that brought about the truth of his unknown parentage and though the fisherman had given him consent if he wishes to search for his true family, he didn’t. He was both content and scared to learn of the truth. But such a decision would plague him for years until he was finally convinced by the old man to learn more about the world by entering the academy. Though it would be difficult, seeing how he would be quite older than the rest of his peers and having no prior training, the fisherman believed that he would succeed and make a name for himself.
‘That’s funny when you named me Nanashi’ the boy would tell the old man he had long accepted as his father. ‘Wars are made because of names, and names often bring about curses on a person. But you will be different. Yoru as the night when I heard your cry and found you, and Nanashi as a name but not a name, for you will find your own meaning and life of your own will’ the fisherman explained, trying to make the boy feel better as he set out to join the academy.
Hesitant and unsure of what his life could truly be, Nanashi could only rely on his father’s words and take on this new challenge, hoping that indeed he would learn more of the world and himself.
