Another group entered the waterlogged apartment eyeing Kamaru who was still pacing and cursing.
%@$* %@$*ing %@$*, Children of A my %#$. Kamaru repeated while pacing still.
Another group shuffled out with evidence soaked in water, everything sloshed or squished when they moved, including people. They eyed Kamaru for a second as they passed not making eye contact.
Nothing like seeing your boss having a meltdown on the job and losing it in public. Few knew what had happened previously even less would understand just why Kamaru had seemed to have purchased a ticket to Crazy Town. He finally stopped pacing back and forth and finally sat with a sigh his hands webbed across his face trying to pull the crazy out of his mind. He really thought this was going to end easily as he looked down at the ground through the web of his fingers; water was still draining out the front of the apartment it seemed from the flow of moving water past him. At least he hadn’t died or gotten injured in a fiery explosion. Glancing sideways he looked into the apartment as people carried something out.
Kamaru watched as a body was carried out of the apartment. Lifeless it looked fake or more akin to a statue by the expression and gaze from the eyes. Who swims for something sharp to slit one’s throat with when they’re in the water? Did he die happy? What made him want to die so badly? To keep secrets or just to mess with the people who were trying to arrest him? The simple question of who had bombed the place was solved. As to the bigger question why it still remained unanswered, Kamaru could only guess with the bomber dead. Kamaru glanced into the apartment seeing an odd pattern painted on the wall.
”Children of A…” Kamaru muttered again shaking his head.
*Flashback*
Finding a place someone has been laying low for over a week is complicated. It means they’re not out and about and if they prepared to be in hiding for an extended period of time there is a very slim chance they’d slip up and leave and walk around in the open so they’d get caught. They’d have food prepped to eat and bills paid out in advance so no one comes knocking to bother them. Take out is forgone since the less people that see you the better. Just another quiet neighbor some might think or an apartment that no one knew was occupied when passing by.
Letting it slip you were looking for a man while showing a picture doesn’t get as much cooperation until it’s speculated he might be involved in the recent bombing plus possibly the transport and circulation of counterfeit money. The second usually gets better luck out of spit. Eventually the guy was found, a key and the money were given over readily. Kamaru paid out the amount owed keeping the ‘counterfeit money’.
Once the full team showed up, Kamaru gave out orders on how to breech.
As a spiked anchor slammed through the door expanded a golem made of rock was already jumping off from the third floor walkway to the common area below pulling the door off it’s hinges with it. As the rubble landing from the former golem several men and woman had rushed in behind Kamaru having stacked up at the doorway on both sides. Kamaru didn’t have a lot of time to explain himself. The options in his head seem limited. To the rest of the team all they noticed was the man turn eyes going wide a smile creeping across his face and Kamaru yelling out ‘Bomb!’ With his hands in a blur water exploded out of no where around the room. Kamaru had seen the man fully understood the surprise in his eyes working to the idea of a perfect chance, was he waiting to be caught or was he getting ready to skip town? Kamaru didn’t know, the small device in his hands no bigger than a pack of gum with a red button on top could have been a number of things. He didn’t know he hadn’t had time to guess exactly what, he just went with his gut. It surprised the man, not that Kamaru yelled ‘bomb’ and backed up, the fact the large amount of water seemingly expelled from Kamaru’s mouth of all places as the room seemed to suddenly be filled with water. The team with him had already started to move away, the water just made it harder for them. Kamaru was too busy moving towards the man who was moving away farther into the apartment searching for something turning with a demented smile and running the object across his neck with his free hand.
His face was hidden and bathed in a crimson cloud in the water, emotion and realization faded from the man’s face.
*End Flashback*
From what they gathered after cataloguing and drying out the entire contents of the apartment was the man was a bit crazy. Having several clippings of a bombing in Leaf City tipped off Kamaru, it was from before Kamaru had started living in Leaf City but he knew of the event somewhat or rather he dealt with something similar before, someone hearing about the event and interpreting it how they wanted and using it as an excuse to do some really jack up things. Kamaru didn’t know if the guy was a true believer or even know the actual reason. The guy he found in Leaf or rather the woman seemed just intent on emulating people alive if possible. This was another rendition of warped misguided actions.
After letting the owner know the situation he caved giving the whole story, one of wanting to collect insurance money on a business he ran into the ground. Finding someone to get the building to collapse was easy enough. He just wanted a simple fire and a chance to just walk away with some money. It was supposed to be just a case of arson, instead it left a few dead and several inured or maimed. The shop owner being unconscious was also probably done purposely since he didn’t seem to be too good at concealing what he was trying to think and do. Regardless he would be have to answer for his involvement in the attack when he was out of the hospital and he’d still be able to walk away from the business, either literally or due to the fact he’d be in prison.
Kamaru pondered what he could have done differently or what they found out. Was he justified? Did he do all he could. Reading through another report back at the office he stopped reading and left his desk, supposedly the report explained the dead man had some documentation on the United Red Institute. If they were linked to this also he just had another reason to topple the organization. First he’d need to find out how the person who wrote the report derived the stipulation. After some walking and pacing the office Kamaru swore since the person had gone home several hours ago. Kamaru looked at the time and it kind of made. The sun would be up in a few hours.
