Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

Character Decription:

Zaji is average height of a shinboi if not a little smaller. He has a slender and muscular build that has been shaped through years of intense shinobi and swordsmanship training. Scars can be found across his left arm, a memento of how to not use your arm as a shield. His brown eyes match his normally tied off hair.

Everyday outfits for Zaji would normally include a pure white or ivory gi that tightly fit across his chest. A royal blue sash wrapped around his waist, its function to hold his katana at his left hip. A match royal blue pants running down his ankles. If the weather isn’t friendly it wouldn’t be unnatural to find a grey or green cloak draped across his shoulders providing him protection from the elements.


History Thus Far:  

Zaji was born into a Nanjirou family, his father and mother are both full blooded Nanjirou. His family has rich history of support and service to the Leaf village. His father, Riu, has retired from shinobi work and stepped down as a Jounin when Zaji was six. RIu now is able to focus his abilities and time on the Nanjirou clan, he is currently the third seat in line to head the clan. His brother, Chuu, is rarely seen as he is kept constantly busy by his work within the ANBU corps.

Zaji started training as a swordsman from the day he could hold a fighting stance. It has been drilled into the core of his being, and so life has been a series of attack sequences and physical training in the Nanjirou style. He was quick to pick up and master the physical ways of the Nanjirou, it was almost second nature, the sword itself a mere extension of his own limbs.

The philosophy of his clan was harder to pick up upon. He found himself question all that it was to be a Nanjirou, the endless battles, sating bloodlust, reckless pride, and sacrifice of mind and soul. As a people they gave everything for the price of power. He was a full blooded Nanjirou, and he understood the pull to power, something always calling like a dull ache or pain of something missing, a hole needing to be filled, the call to power. It was in battle that these powers came to full fruition, the Nanjirou would open themselves and sacrifice pieces of their soul in exchange for the prowess and knowledge the ancients of the Nanjirou possessed. In exchange they lost everything of themselves, and if left unchecked they would be surrendered to the power of the seal that was imprinted upon them. Zaji vowed to control this power, to wield it on his own terms and not sacrifice in the nature his elders had.

Through the years past graduation from the academy Zaji has continued his academic prowess, keeping a continual study of the history of leaf, his clan, and war stratagems. It is not odd thing to find Zaji browsing the shelves of the village library trying to find the next book that would expand his knowledge. It was in this way that Zaji lusted for his power, through knowledge and understanding, not martial prowess as had been the tradition of other Nanjirou. It was through these means he would one day learn to control and dominate the demons that held power of his clan.

The library improved his intellect and general knowledge of the Leaf village, and as time went by he still continued his physical training and mastery of Nanjirou kenjutsu. Work for the village came and went as assigned by the village council, Zaji himself preformed satisfactory in each of his mission and displayed enough prowess to be included on the first major Leaf assault of the Sound village.

They struck in fog, lead by a Senju named Shinichi, at the gates of the village. He felt conflicted about the assault and the capabilities of their leader, it seemed implied that the selection was a biased selection based on the boy’s clan and not his skill. But Zaji surrendered himself to will of the elder shinobi, being only a genin at the time it was not his place to question the assault or the choice of leadership. The strike force fought valiantly, but ultimately they fell short, with no sign of the other group and after suffering major losses Zaji and those still remaining were forced to retreat to save themselves and their comrades.

From their valiant efforts and abilities to save their unconscious teammates at the gates of Sound, Zaji and the other members of the team were promoted to the rank of Chuunin. It was bittersweet, a promotion on the back of defeat, a hard pill to swallow. But the young Nanjirou pressed forward and continued on, swallowing his bitterness towards what he felt was a mislead assault.

Years passed as Zaji continued in the service of the village, new responsibilities came with being a Chuunin, including missions and leadership roles. As time moved forward and turned into the past Zaji kept himself physically and mentally sharp, ready for the next time the village of the Leaf would call upon him.

Bloodline:

Nanjirou
Zaji was born into a family of Nanjirou. His father is an active member of the clan, and his older brother an up and coming warrior. Expectations had always been high for Zaji to follow in their footsteps. He has had everything perfectly planned for his training and teachings since he was a baby boy.

The training started out in Nanjirou’s philosophy and teaching of their families’ lineage. His family has always followed the traditional path of the Samurai, and so Zaji memorized past allegiances, conflicts, mistakes, and successes of his family. Slowly the art of Kenjutsu was taught to him by his father and assigned teachers within the Nanjirou clan. Through pain staking repetition the ideals of the clan were ingrained into the young boy.

Upon maturity the seal of the Nanjirou clan that links Zaji to his ancestors was placed on his chest, the knowledge of all his past ancestors at his fingertips. The spiritual sword once belonging to his great grandfather was passed on to him by his grandfather and father in the common ritual practice. He was one of the Nanjirou, trusted with their secrets and their weapons his was part of the clan and family.

A distinct clan, blessed with the blood of their ancestors, the Nanjirou are a people destined to be samurai. Their distinct codes of honor have bred them into some of the most formidable swordsman across the land. While most Nanjirou take the path of the Samurai, their are others that wander the lands as simple swordsmen, testing their skills and teachings against those of others. It has been said that those gifted with the blood of the Nanjirou have a unique connection with the past of their ancestors, often having access to skills and abilities far more ancient than themselves.

Sword Affinity- Passive
The Nanjirou are a people who have lived with swords since the earliest History of their clan, with each samurai passing their secret skills and techniques down to each generation, with each generation adding their own skills into the mix. Eventually over centuries, it is said that the knowledge and use of the sword became instinctive to each Nanjirou at birth, and that the skill and mastery over their swords is a natural birthright to each of them.

Blood Seeking Blade - Passive
The Ancients within the Nanjirou’s blade are constantly hungry for more and more blood to be spilled, continually attacking its user for their share of blood. If it does not get its daily dosage of blood, it then attacks the user. However, once it tastes the blood of it's victims, it is said that the blade glows with bloodlust, sensing the victim and guiding the user with each strike

Rank 1: +1 Awareness against the victim.
Rank 2: +1.5 Awareness and +.5 Accuracy against the victim.
Rank 3: +2 Awareness and +1 Accuracy against the victim.

Notes:
- The user chooses any Bladed weapon (Swords/Shortswords/Daggers/Giant Blades) in their inventory at the start of the battle. Blood Seeking Blade can only be used by this sword.
- Activates automatically as soon as the sword inflicts Bleeding damage.
- Should the user not inflict damage in the first round of combat, they lose 5% Max Hp at the start of each round until they inflict damage.

Iaido - Fighting Style
Through many years of training, the Nanjirou have developed a code: “Wherever we may be, we must be prepared”. With this code in mind, they have developed a stance to adjust to every situation. There sword is constantly sheathed, and they may quickly draw it and redraw it. This adds to the strength of their slash. Due to the firmness of their stance, they are able to brace themselves to take more damage then usual

Energy Slash - Ranged Cutting Technique
A technique which uses focused chakra to send out arcs of energy from their sword. Only a Nanjirou is able to complete the array of techniques that accompany this basic trick, allowing them to attack enemies at any range with their own energy Strikes.

Rank 1: 1 hit for 185% damage
Rank 2: 1 hit for 460% damage at +1 Accuracy.
Rank 3: 1 hit for 760% damage at +2 Accuracy.

Cost:
Rank 1: .5 Ap, 45 Cp
Rank 2: 1 Ap, 160 CP,

Notes
- Can be used as a Ranged Attack.
- If used as a melee attack, this attack has a second chance to hit if the initial use was a miss. This energy strike deals 80% normal damage at -3 Accuracy.

Life Tap - Activated Passive
A powerful technique frowned upon by the clan save for emergencies. This technique allows the Nanjirou to convert a portion of their own Spirit and life force to charge their blade with its power, granting much more powerful techniques capable of damaging their target's very own Soul.

Rank 1: Weapon Strike bypasses 10% of Damage Reduction and deals chakra damage equal to 10% final damage.
Rank 2: Weapon Strike bypasses 10% of Damage Reduction and deals chakra damage equal to 20% final damage.
Rank 3: Weapon Strike bypasses 10% of Damage Reduction and deals chakra damage equal to 30% final damage.

Notes
- This does not cost Ap, and only needs to be declared upon attacking.
- This can only be used with the sword with the Blood Seeking Blade ability, and it must be in effect. This can be used with any attack using that blade.
- Attack deals +15% Damage against any form of barrier.
- Attacks made with this skill cannot have their Cp cost reduced in any way.

Cost: User takes Hp damage equal to 30% the Cp Cost.

Temporized Slash - Delayed Sword Strike
Performed by sheathing their sword in invisible chakra and slashing, the Nanjirou seals the wound right away through the use of the chakra and causes it to go unnoticed by the victim until they choose to release the chakra and open the wound. This causes those who battle the Nanjirou to be unsure of when they've been cut and when they've escaped harm. Often seen involving the user passing by the enemy in an apparent miss...Until Blood suddenly gushes from the enemy's wound.

Rank 1: Attack causes 800% damage at -1 Accuracy.
Rank 2: Attack causes 800% damage.
Rank 3: Attack causes 800% damage at +1 Accuracy.

Cost: 1.5 Ap; 350 Cp

Notes:
- If used as a called shot, gains +10% chance of crippling the limb.
- User may choose to have the effects delayed, up to three rounds. If you choose to use this then you must inform the bmod how many rounds delay you want it to be at the time of the attack. If delayed the mod will show it as a miss, neither party will know if it was a hit or a miss until the time is up.
- Players with Sixth Sense have a 35% chance to know whether they or their opponent has actually been struck.  If this is known by the player struck they may use a medical jutsu to stop it from happening.

Wrath Seal - Activated Passive
The Wrath Seal is a seal put on every Nanjirou that contains the thoughts and knowledge of every generation in their ancestral family. Once activated, it releases all of the knowledge into the Nanjirou, granting them the powers and skill honed through the generations of Samurai. Though the seal's power comes with the cost: the price of having the spirit's of the past guides you rapidly deteriorates the Nanjirou's own Soul.

Rank 1: +2 Dodge, +1 accuracy.
Rank 2: +2.5 Dodge, +1.5 accuracy.
Rank 3: +3 Dodge, +2 accuracy.

Rank 1: 1.5 Ap; 400 Cp to initiate, 200 Cp/Hp/Rnd.

Battoujutsu - Secret Sword Technique
One of the deadliest moves learned in the Nanjirou's Aresonal, this move combines sheer strength and speed to ensure quick victory. Only a Nanjirou can pull off the quick movement and inhumane speed required to draw and sheath the sword for a move like this, combining strength and speed in the blink of an Eye. It is said that when mastered, One cannot even see the Nanjirou draw and resheath their blade during this technique, much less the actual strike.

Rank 1: Strikes at 880% Damage at +2 accuracy
Rank 2: Strikes at 925% Damage +2.5 accuracy
Rank 3: Strikes at 970% Damage +3 accuracy

Cost: 2 Ap; 600 Cp

- May only be used once per round.

Fury of a Thousand Samurai - Impairing Curse Genjutsu
A technique developed by the most ancient Nanjirou, this attack focuses on crippling the defender. It is considered to be one of the most frightening in the Nanjirou arsenal, and yet, it is not even a taijutsu- it is a mind game of pure power. It instills fear and intimidation into the enemy, gradually reducing their resolve to fight against the Nanjirou.

Rank 1: Opponent gets -5% damage to all jutsu and takes -2 accuracy. During this time, the victim has a 10% chance per round to be affected by "Fear".
Rank 2: Opponent gets -10% damage to all jutsu, -2.5 accuracy. During this time, the victim has a 15% chance per round to be affected by "Fear".
Rank 3: Opponent gets -15% damage to all jutsu, -3 accuracy. During this time, the victim has a 20% chance per round to be affected by "Fear".

Costs: 2.5 Ap; 910 Cp

Notes:
- This Jutsu Lasts 2 Rounds.
- Counts as a Will/Visual Genjutsu
- Must have Wrath Seal activated, and Must have eye contact
- “Fear”, causes the opponent to take on -3 dodge and take +10% More damage during that round.

Fury of Time - Space/Time Jutsu
It has been said the ultimate jutsu of the Nanjirou is one that does not even relate to sword-fighting. Rather, it is the ability to slow time down. These powerful swordsman have honed their abilities to a point, where time is meaningless to them, and they can perform a complex series of attacks. They are able to slow down time due to their connection with their ancient ancestors.

Rank 1: The Nanjirou strikes the ground, dealing 1120% damage in a 20x20 area. Those hit by the attack are effected by its secondary effect. The Nanjirou can choose whether to slow down those effected or speed them up. When time is sped up everyone affected loses -3 accuracy and has a 6% Chance of Auto-missing. When slowed down everyone affected gains +3 accuracy and +6% Auto-Dodge.
Rank 2: The Nanjirou strikes the ground, dealing 1230% damage in a 25x25 area. Those hit by the attack are effected by its secondary effect. The Nanjirou can choose whether to slow down those effected or speed them up. When time is sped up everyone affected loses -3.5 accuracy and has a 7% Chance of Auto-missing. When slowed down everyone affected gains +3.5 accuracy and +7% Auto-Dodge.
Rank 3: The Nanjirou strikes the ground, dealing 1355% damage in a 30x30 area. Those hit by the attack are affected by its secondary effect. The Nanjirou can choose whether to slow down those effected or speed them up. When time is sped up everyone affected loses -4 accuracy and has a 8% Chance of Auto-missing. When slowed down everyone affected gains +4 accuracy and +8% Auto-Dodge.

Rank 1: 3 Ap; 2100 CP, 800 Hp/Cp/Rnd.
Rank 2: 3 Ap; 2300 CP, 900 Hp/Cp/Rnd.

A sacred blade often passed down through the generations of individual Nanjirou Families, these swords are inherited and passed on down the generations, and many date back to the furthest roots of the Nanjirou's Ancestry. Rao became a shinobi at the age of twelve, but he had been training for the hard life from the tender age of six. His had always allowed him his trainings and encouraged him in his high ideals. It was during this time his tutor started to realize Rao’s ability to shape and form chakra. It wasn’t just that, in fact a boy of his age shouldn’t have had the reserves of chakra that he appeared to. Under his tutor’s guidance he was able to refine the well of power within himself. Over the course of the years leading up to and through his time in the academy, Rao continued to work and improve his control of the chakra. From hard work, and dedication, he has developed abilities that only those with precise knowledge of chakra and its application would be able to rival.

Rao is a handsome man, whose muscular build seems sculpted in all the right places. His strong jaw line shapes his serious face, while his hair, unkempt and sage green, frames it. When looking at him, it is clear that he is mostly legs with an average sized trunk. His long piano fingers easily glide in and out of seals. Overall he appears to be an average shinobi with a dull green mop of hair.

Personality wise Rao is normally found in one of two moods, content or disappointed, this isn’t to say that this is all that consumes him, but it can be a basis to work from. He will generally leave his opinion on stated, but find himself critically judging and assessing everything around himself. When he does speak it is generally with advice or a solution to a problem. Some might say that he is a cynic, he would say logical. He struggles trying to sort the two in his mind, and expressing himself in a positive manner is at times difficult because of this. This is one of the many storms that will rage inside of the introspective mind of Rao.

Character History: 
Being a merchant’s son has its privileges. Most notably is the money, the seemingly endless amounts of money. Or so it seemed to a young Rao. Rao was raised in a happy family that doted on him endlessly and he relished the attention. As a young boy Rao harbored intentions of becoming a renowned and heroic shinobi. In dreams he flipped and twirled, fighting off foes with grand blasts of chakra and amazing martial prowess. He watched the Cloud shinobis from crowded streets and secluded buildings, mimicking movement and actions. He eavesdropped on their conversations and slowly molded himself into the picture of what a shinobi should be in his mind. In the back alleys of the village he would act out the first demon invasion of Cloud, always fighting back the Hitokage himself.

Rao’s fantasies never dwindled as he aged, instead the flame of desire grew brighter and wilder. In an attempt to curb and focus the energy and curiosity of Rao, his parents hired him a tutor, a former a shinobi named Kuluko Gin. His parents indulged the boy. After all, they gave their only son anything he wanted. Rao devoted all his time to dream. He applied each lesson from his tutor into daily training, these years allowed the boy to develop a fine control of his chakra. During this time that his parents started to see that their innocent boy would be no merchant, he was caught up in his own world.

His brother, Lien, was born a year before he entered the academy. With the added tension of a new family member, and his father’s mercantile connections diminishing, the family fell upon hard times. Rao’s family wished him to focus on the family business. Rao however had no time for this, he focused on training in preparation for his life as a shinobi of Cloud. Little to his knowledge his family was plotting to take him and Lien away from the hidden village, to the stability of Raiden’s Eye.

The academy became another fuel to Rao’s drive, and a welcome distraction from his home life. At the academy Rao quickly grew into a remarkable prospect, he received praise from teachers and respect from students. While honors were laid at the boys feet, trade contracts and supplies were taken from his father’s. The day Rao graduated from the academy his father had finalized the plans to move the family to Raiden’s Eye. Rao would have to make the choice, stay and serve Kumo or go and serve the family.

In some ways Rao found the decision was easy to make. That night news spread through the village that the young Prince, Shiro, had been abducted and murdered by Cloud Sennin Sude Sairasu. Tensions grew in the country between Kumo and the controlling government, if war broke then every available shinobi would be needed. His village needed him, or so he felt, now was the moment for heroics. The family made their way away from the village without him. His parents feared for their first born, for they could count, and they felt no matter the powers of the shinobi, the sheer number of royal forces would overwhelm them in a war. But no war came. The instability of the government broke the country into competing factions leaving the land unstable.

This volatile environment proved to be a crucible in which his Genin and Chuunin years were spent. The missions he completed built and honed the boy into a fine weapon. He would find his mettle tested again when the Raikage was attacked, he tried his best to fight, but in the end lost not only his friends, but his new family.

As a new Jounin he could see the dire straits of the village, he made his pledge then to protect and preserve the village in the Clouds. He joined in the havoc and terror of the civil war that ripped the country in two. In his heart he felt righteousness as he struck down the PMC forces. He found it all too easy to dehumanize the people he hated. Life was right, he protected those he loved, live felt right on the campaign. Yet It all ended too fast for Rao, the once dead Prince Shiro was found alive, and he would take the Shogun title to unite the land. Rao felt peace as the country stabilized. After the hate washed away he found himself confronting the violence he committed and the horror he had seen. Somehow the war has to be sorted in his mind, acceptance must be found. As Rao was coming terms to a peaceful life all around him, Cloud was rebuilding and growing back into what he remembered it being, back when he was a boy fighting off the imaginary demons in alleys.
