Name: [/b ]Zaruzu Uchiha
Age: 15
Appearance: Standing tall at 5'10'' and weighing 140 pounds, Zaruzu has somewhat of an average build with just enough bulk to qualify for not being skinny. His hands and chest are covered in scars. He has very pale white skin, sanguine eyes and medium-length black messy hair, barely kept. He wears a light red hoodie with the uchiha insignia on his back, often kept unzipped to reveal a white t-shirt. He dawns black pants and combat boots as well as studded-knuckle gloves on the occasions he's going out to work. Salzem carries himself with a sort of rugged discomfort, especially around large crowds. He tends to keep his head tucked and his shoulders tensed, almost as if anticipating an attack from the shadows.
The last significant bit of his appearance is that Salzem has a certain kind of breathing mask (not unlike the Great Salamander's of old) that covers his entire face, leaving only his eyes visible. The Mask has three notches, one on each side at the bottom and one in the center, each one funneling and filtering air through his lungs and back out into the world.
Personality: Zaruzu's personality can be summed up as distrustful and angry. He tends to have a very short fuse and thinks very little of those that break their word or his trust. He sees little point in continuing conversations with idiots, tossing etiquette to the wind in favor of ugly and brute honesty. Zaruzu is as blunt and as hard as a stick and isn't afraid to let everyone know it. What you see is often what you get from this ninja for better or worse. He sees a lot of people around him as people who need to be saved, that danger is everywhere and that's why the ninja even exist and that philosophy tends to be the source of his temper.
Zaruzu is tired of a lot of things... from war to work to human interaction... He wants peace of mind and has a great deal of difficulty accomplishing this himself. Something is always lurking, waiting. He suspects That every war that's ever happened and ever will is just more of the same and, because of this, another one is just right around the corner, a product of momentum. While he is indeed tired of this fact (in his mind) and this is also his motivation to get stronger. His clan would impose upon him that it is time for them to rise above and become the ultimate among their peers and this kind of propaganda ingrained itself in Salzem if differently.
As Uchiha, instead of rising above to look down upon the other clans as superiors, Zaruzu sees himself as a protector for what it's worth, one that has a hard time resting. He fears that the moment he looks away, the moment he's gone, everything will be taken from him. Rest comes very slowly for him and this contributes to his exhaustion and short temper.
History: Zaruzu, as a young child, was a bright, smart child. He had a lot of friends, his parents were kind and supportive of him, several younger siblings that looked up to him... everything seemed perfect... Well... that was until the fall of the Leaf village. Zaruzu lost almost everything in that event. His parents, the majority of his clan... Everyone but his youngest sister Amiko. Together, they lived in poverty alone on the outskirts of their ruined village after all the danger had passed, their only goal from day to day was to survive....
Zaruzu knew no peace in those years... He coudn't afford to relax in the slightest. From people who would exploit them to the elements to wild-life, Salzem spent every waking moment he possibly could protecting his youngest sister, doing every possible thing he could to keep her alive. As time went on, his determination mutated into resentment for their situation, for losing their family.... being so alone and helpless... but that too changed... What was directed rage softened and dulled into misdirected anger and frustration, the only one ever shielded from it being the only one he had to protect...
When the uchiha returned to the village and after it's reconstruction, Salzem and Amiko were reintegrated into the clan but it was never the same.... to many things had changed either within himself or within the clan itself.... While his little sister was just happy to have a home, never remembering her old family, Salzem never felt relief... He knew in his heart he couldn't allow whatever happened to Konoha happen again and so... he set his eyes not just on his sister... but on the village...
Unlocking the Sharingan: Zaruzu’s life after the fall of Konoha wasn’t an easy one… Between both protecting his sister from the insanity of the world and keeping himself in working order, he had no time for real relaxation. Everything seemed against them, against him, trying to sweep everything he had away once again… He found himself thinking of his parents often, when the tide receded enough to allow for such things… It made things easier to think that maybe he’d be able to see them again… that he’d find them among the rubble outside… It was a thought his little sister had and one he’d make his own if for nothing else than a distraction.
A day came when Amiko fell ill, their most fatal encounter of them all… A fight where a warrior couldn’t be seen, couldn’t be touched… couldn’t be fought… Zaruzu didn’t sleep for days… just watching and praying, letting his body tear itself apart in his exhaustion if only he could stay with her for a few more minutes… But eventually programming overrode his wishes and the older uchiha fell asleep at her side…
He awoke with a start the next morning, horror filling his heart that he’d fallen asleep on his watch. Quickly he turned to Amiko and… She wasn’t breathing… Zaruzu’s heart stopped dead, his body petrified with fear as his hand rested above her heart, the other by her mouth to see if he could sense anything… to see if she was alive… nothing.
With tears rolling over his cheeks… his eyes faded into a deep sanguine, the activation of his sharingan.
Amiko awoke a moment later much to Zaruzu’s shock, taking a deep gulping breath for air as she lived… Zaruzu embraced her, ignoring how utterly different everything seemed now…. All that mattered was that she was alive...
