Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

How does a man like Ryuu Tama get revenge against a man like Oushi-Ouja Nabushin? A man that had something so horrible on the surgeon that he should all but grovel before the mighty Storm Lord?

In the most petty way possible, of course.

The surgeon brought the idea up to the giant of a man himself. Of course, to avoid suspicion, Tama introduced himself in his normal annoying manner. Suzume was having some difficulty relearning how to properly move around and, of course, Tama knew why. Although his actual knowledge of the why was limited, he put on a grand show of having special know-how needed to help his heir regain her full strength. He pushed and prodded Nabushin, working off his anger, until the man threatened the scientist to work for him again to help ‘fix his mistake.’ After a brief argument against it, Tama agreed to supposedly work under blackmail again and left the compound once more; this time with a hidden smile.
A week later and the building he had requisitioned for physical therapy was built. The materials were exact, the inscribed jutsu that elegantly stretched across the ceiling and floor, all moving in a swirling pattern towards the center of the room where there was an indention at the center. It was a large dojo with nothing inside of it save the stone and wood it was made of. How could this be considered even remotely revenge? Why, it was expensive to make!
Suna was at war. Prices of even basic materials were shooting up and Tama had requested high quality stone and the freshest cut wood for the building. Then it had taken a full team of highly trained scribes to paint the seal onto the dojo which didn’t usually run cheap either - though to be fair Nabushin could of called in a favor on that one. Lastly the inside of the dojo floor had been padded in such a way that it felt like walking on sand without actually tracking it around the place. It would have been extremely cheaper just to put a divot into the floor and use actual sand, but, the doctor had insisted this flooring instead was better suited for rehabilitation.

The scientist now walked through the padding as he moved towards the indention at the center. He was dressed in a simple button down short-sleeve shirt, tucked into a pair of khaki colored pants. Adorning his feet were monogrammed black socks. His hands were placed behind his back and on his face was a grand smile. The man had every intention of training Suzume back into combat form, even to the point of making her better than she had just for his own research alone, but he was going to try and break the Ox King’s checkbook doing it.
Once he reached the center of the room, Tama flopped down and stretched his back before placing his hands on either side of his now crossed legs. Mumbling a few Ancient Words, he activated the ascribed seal beneath the flooring, causing the writing on the walls to light up with a soft blue glow. A gentle hum began to fill the air. Now all he needed to do was wait for his latest experiment to be assisted inside and he could get to work.

It was undeniable taht there was still something off with the Storm Heir. At the best of times she walked like a newborn fawn, though she apppears to be whole and hearty. After his mysterious injury, Nabushin had left his audience chambers less and less, and did not have the time nor resources to spend on getting the girl up to par. So when the Plague Doctor made his appearance within his chambers, Nabushin seized the opportunity. He knew there was some ulterior motive at play for the man, Nabushin was not a fool, but if there was a man to fix this problem it would be the one who caused it.

After deliberation and twisted arms, Tama reluctantly agreed to provide the rehabilitation that the girl seemed to require. A suspicious corner of his mind was convinced that Tama had caused this on purpose, but he rationally doubted the man's ego would have allowed himself that level of self-sabotauge. Whenever Tama proposed the building of a Dojo, Nabushin nearly had him thrown from the room then and there. The cost of what he had proposed was more than they paid all of their retained shinobi for thre month's wages. When he rose from his throne to make that proclamation, a sharp pain in his right leg settled his fury and he eased him back down to his seat. The clan was doing well with the war at hand, and their production of the rank and file weaponry was helping to fill their coffers nicely. They could afford this, Suzume might indeed require it, and Nabushin feared he did not have the time to seek alternatives...

Slowly Suzume made her way into the new building. She didn't know how it was constructed in such a short period, or why it was build as elaborately as it was. The thing stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the otherwise utilitarian compound that housed the other plainly adored Oushi-Ouja homes and facilities. She held a long metal rod in her right hand, using it as a makeshift cane as she stepped inside, looking around at the entrance hall she took step after careful step towards the main training chamber. As far as she understood it, this place had been custom made just to help with her recover. She was no accountant and did not grasp finances too well, but this could not have been a wise expenditure. Sousuke had said they were in a war, right? Part of her hated that they were wasting this money on her, wastes that seem to compound one after another.

Carefully she put her hand to the sliding door that lead to the main chamber and pulled it gingerly to the side. She had to be careful or else she would crash to the ground, snap the door in half or just ragdoll pointlessly across the room. It all made her look like she was weak and frail, but in truth she had to be as gentle as possible or else she broke nearly everything she touched. She only seemed to work in two ways, with the feeblest of touches or with such force that a single step threw her across rooms. Stepping inside, she closed the door slowly behind her and turned towards the man sitting in the middle of the room. Her attention was immediately drawn to the walls, which seemed to have a faint glow about them as if they were paper thin and had a bright blue light shining behind them.

"This is all..." she carefully stepped from her shoes, nudging them to the door before stepping out into the parge padded central area. Her foot seemd to sink slightly into the ground, as if she were walking in sand, and she had to take a moment and inspect the ground before she hesitantly continueed. "a bit much, don't you think?" According to Nabushin, this was entirely by the doctor's design. She had worked at the hospital for over a year, and while she had no actual talent for any medical skills, she had picked up quite a bit in that time. At no point did she ever hear of any rehabilitation that required all of this, but to his credit, she had never heard of anyone doing what Tama had done to her before either.

Necessary and required,” Tama lied, “It’s specifically built to hone that which you’re having problems with - moving.

As soon as Suzume slid shut the door behind her, Tama gently placed his hands down on the floor beside him and channeled a little chakra into the seal. Glyphs lit up around his hands and as he lifted them back up, the symbols followed. The room began to take on a slight blue hue as the scientist gently warped time. Instead of his normal cut, move ahead, and retie he was weakening the chronological flow to a thin strand. This way he could snap off and reverse at a moment’s notice instead of his normal reflexes. It took a ton of effort to set up and no small amount of patience, but it could be done; far cheaper than the extent the doctor had gone through too. Tama, however, was a very petty man and was not a fan of being blackmailed. Even if what had been required of him was done, he was making sure that his claws were buried deep in the Oushi-Ouja.

What I have done is…way to complicated to fully explain. TLDR, I’m screwing with time so that you can move at full capacity and learn how to fully control yourself. Move too hard, crash into a wall, and break every bone in your fresh body? Can fix. Flex too hard on your chakra, causing a reverb that fries your body from the inside out? Can fix. Emotional and psychological trauma of experiencing your own near death countless times just trying to learn how to walk? On you. Start whenever you feel comfortable, I’ve already started the jutsu. Also don’t worry about me. I’ve layered a triple barrier around myself, just in case, but it should at least protect against most of what you’re capable of right now.
The doctor broke his palms away from the glyphs that suspended themselves in the air and reached into his back pocket to retrieve a flask full of unlabeled booze. Unscrewing the cap he lifted the beverage to his lips and swigged while keeping an eye on the hobbling girl. She had handled herself against giant mutant lizards rather well, lets see how she handled being one.

Suzume was, at times, a simple young woman. As the symbols lifted into the air, she stood on her rod, transfixed by their intricate patterns and otherwordly glow. Her attention eventually broke as she looked around the room as he spoke, trying to see what he was talking about. She presumed he meant that he could simply mend any wound that she had, which was not entirely unexpected from one of the village's finest medics. As for the rest, she didn't know enough to do anything but take him at face value. He must know what he was doing, especially if the Storm Lord himself were funding this endeavor. Who was she to question?

The heir hesitated for a few moments as her attention shifted back to him, eyeing him with curious intensity. There was something familiar about him. She knew him from her time at the hospital, but there was something beyond that that pulled at her attention. Her moment of thought faded as he took a drink of his non-alcoholic beverage, "wait, you want me to do what?" She took a step forward, moving a bit too quickly which sent her into a forward stumble. She caught herself, but was only standing a few feet away from him by the time her feet were fully steadied. Again she looked around the room and to him, "you want me to hit you?" That was the most reasonable guess, given that she mentioned the barriers and she didn't see anything else around the room for her to strike. That was, of course, unless he just wanted her to exercise, but why would he need the barriers then?

It’s a lot more simple than you think. Also, no, please don’t try to hit me. I really don’t want to test these barriers against a direct attack. They’re to protect me in case of falling ceiling, or wall explosions, or if you accidentally charge up and nearly destro-, you know what. Just walk. Put the stick down and try to walk like you normally would. Learn your speed, how to control your strength, and gain a basic gauge for how far you can push yourself,” Tama lifted the drink to his lips and swigged again, a little deeper in an attempt to control his own lack of patience,
That body you’re inhabiting isn’t normal. I, crafted it by hand,” he coughed a little from the proof of his beverage, “Aside from your very DNA being as perfect as I can make it without giving you horrible late-life cancer, I have also fused…something extra. That, is what is keeping you from moving around like you used to, which was lame. According to my tables, at a worst case scenario, you’ll be at a full recovery within a decade. With this dojo and my ability to keep you from injuring yourself should, say, you go to step forward three-hundred feet instead of three, we can bump that down to a year. Maybe sooner, but, that will highly depend on how well you take to…super science physical therapy.

Tama put down the flask and began to pat himself gently looking for something. He found that something in his pocket, a small scroll that was about the size of a pencil. Grabbing the small tag in the middle he pulled it down to reveal an imprinted seal that reacted to the sudden light. With a poof of chakra steam, a clean sandwich appeared on a plate to which the doctor took a large bite of.

Well,” he said between chews, “go on, try walking from one end of the room to the next without any help.

She was not entirely sure why he would be afraid of a little punch. If she were able to even hit him, that was. Suzume was an outlier in her clan, after all. Her size was dwarfed by girls just over half her age and she had as much muscle mass in her body as her father had in one of his legs. So, suddenly taking steps that has as much kick as a sandrunner was overwhelmingly new to her. So having a padded area she could practice, with a medic on hand to help mend whatever injuries she took in the process was a welcome opportunity.

As son as he mentioned the fact that it was all his handiwork was when a few fuzzy puzzle pieces started to fit into place. The echos of screams, the bodies falling to the ground, other fleeting images she couldn't identify started to swirl around her. It didn't last long, but it gave her a chill that shot through her spine as she looked towards him, the picture broken and fragmented but still unsettling. The mention of a decade of recovery was enough to break her from her stupor as she blinked and stared at him in disbelief. She began to protest as he continued, but even a year's worth of recovery was far more than she could stomach.

"A year? I can't be like this for a year." For all she knew, Nabushin could fall over at any moment, even the formidiable Oushi-Ouja bloodline had limits after all. He had made it quite clear a few years ago, if she were not capable enough to hold onto control of the clan after his passing, she would be thrown off the ox and gored though without a second's hesitation. There were, after all, more than a few individuals in the clan who still disagreed with her position, and without Nabushin to keep them in line, there was no telling what might happen. "Can we cut that down a little... like... a lot?" She looked down at her rod and tried to toss it gently away. The metal cracked into the door and clattered loudly on the ground next to the entrance.

Suzume winced and looked away from it as Tama began to, she blinked as he began to eat his meal. Was he really taking this seriously? The thought of this being a joke to him, irked her, furrowing her brows for a moment before she managed to push the irritation aside. She wasn't sure why, but she was determined for him to take this as seriously as it said it was. She turned from him and tried to take a careful step forward. She made it two normal steps before she tried to move a little more quickly and then transformed into a tangle of limbs as she launched off the floor, smacked into the ceiling and tumbled to the ground a few yards away.

"That will depend on your participation,” Tama said between mouthfuls. Despite his incredibly lack nature, the scientist’s eyes were extremely focused on Suzume’s entire body. The doctor silently counted in his head every millisecond that passed by as the kunoichi finally did as he asked. The moment her muscles flew out of control his left hand, that was sans a sandwich, lifted up to one of the floating glyphs and pressed down on the edge of it. With a quick roll of his wrist Tama reversed the seconds back to when Suzume was in starting position. It wasn’t like his traditional rewind either, but more like an actual skip, pushing the space of time he had tied off from the rest of the universe backwards until the incident had never occurred. Unfortunately, because Suzume wasn’t Tama, she would feel all the pain leading up to the reversal. Afterwards, she would be exactly back to start but with a margin of experience to add to the next try. They would repeat this as many times as her mentality could handle it.

Also I wouldn’t put so much worry on time. We could spend technical years in here and never know it. I’m reversing everything back to their original state, including that of hunger. You could say that by the time you actually get hungry, you’ll for sure have made some improvement. However, it will be painful, and though I can remove the pain, you’ll never forget what it feels like. So do speak up if you’re feel an existential crises creeping on.

One moment Suzume was laying in a heap upon the floor, her muscles mostly limp, and the next she was standing in the training arena once more. The sudden juxtaposition caused the girl to immediately collapse down to the ground, her muscles tense but her brain not ready for the sudden change. With her legs spread apart and her knees together she blinked, looked around herself and then towards Tama as he continued to talk. “Years? What?” She sounded genuinely confused as she tried to piece everything together.

For all her faults, she was quick at picking up on new things, and within a few moments of piecing it together, Suzume stood carefully up and tried to take a slow careful step. “Is that all like… legit? Is that really a thing?” She looked around the room as her foot came slowly down, inching her way closer towards the walls with the strange script upon them. They were nothing she recognized, even vaguely, so for all she knew they could either be whimsical strokes of a brush or ancient arcane script. More quietly she spoke to herself, though he could still hear, “that would explain why it was so expensive….”

“So like… if that is the case, and these things,” she paused and gestured gently towards him, “and you, can do that. Why have I not heard of it before? Wouldn’t that like.. be a really big deal? You could like take a student in the academy to genin by just having them sit here and read books or something right? Just… reversing stuff? Or is it only physical things?” She tried to ponder the quickly unravelling spool of possibilities, her attention quickly drifting off to give attention to their whimsy.

The doctor had finished his sandwich, delicious in its entirety, and began to once more take a long draw of his beverage inside of the little time-proof bubble. When Suzume asked why she hadn’t heard of it or why no one was using such a power for the good of the military, the scientist very nearly choked. After a hard swallow and a deep breath, Tama began to laugh maniacally. It was incredibly refreshing to meet someone was genuinely so innocent in his affairs that part of him just wanted to lie. The pride he took in being who he was, though, wouldn’t let him,
Y-you, clearly don’t, whew,” he held a finger up as he tried to catch his breath from his rancorous mirth, “…know who I am.
For one, this is largely experimental. I had only the theory written down with good math. The fact that it’s actually working is nothing short of a small miracle, but then again, so is your current body; I think it’s the fresh wood. The other reason is…well, my services don’t come cheap. Anyone who knows me, knows that anything I offer comes with strings attached. But! This is all unessential information, Suzume. You should be working on taking your title as the next leader of your clan, not questioning why my talents aren’t being better utilized.

His sudden outburst of laughter caught her completely off guard. He only seemed half-professional in the first place, but not even that had prepared for the wave of unprovoked laughter that he had unleashed. Her eyes widened as she turned her head, watching him as he slowly pulled himself back together. As he began to be able for form words between mirth filled breaths, she slowly shook her head. It was true, she didn’t know a lot about him. She remembered things from the hospital, that he was a capable doctor and she even recalled a very strange incident with him there, but nothing that had suggested all of this.

Her skepticism grew much more pronounced as he continued, however. Suzume knew how to math. She was good with quick numbers and calculations in her head, and while she did not have an advanced education in arithmetic, she knew enough to say with certainty that this was not the result of ‘good math’. “Uhuh…” she added quietly as he finished speaking. “so you’re telling me that you can do al this because you know how to add numbers really well?” Her skepticism was quite plain, and even though she had experienced something akin to what he was suggesting, that didn’t make up for the absurdity of it all.

Carefully, she pushed herself up to a standing position, steadying herself on both her feet as she readied herself to try and hop a few feet forward. She had fired a pistol once, and this all felt very similar to that. One moment there was the faintest bit of pressure in her legs as she readied herself to jump, and the next she would find herself rocketing in the air with as much force as a bullet. She was not sure how that analogy helped her exactly, nor did she really know what to do with it. Even so, she gave it another slow attempt. An attempt that resulted in her head putting a circular hole in the ceiling of the room before smashing back down to the floor in a shower of splinters.

Tama waited for her to move, his face somewhat turned into a frown at her skepticism. Of course, he could do this because he could math like a god. The calculation adjustments on chakra-to-flux ration alone could take years. This project alone was something he had been fiddling with in the background for the last year. What he was using currently in the experiment was something he just kind of threw together along with his current research and…hoped for the best. It wasn’t his greatest moment, but his personality blinded him to that fact. All he cared for was that it cost twice as much to build than needed and he had struck a blow against the clan that had dared to blackmail him. Everything after that was just more that he could add to his infinite notes for further projects. His hand turned and reversed Suzume back into a standing position before pulling the blue glyph away from its twin. The bubble expanded out a little so he could stand and stretch.

Yes, that is exactly the reason. It may awhile, but nearly anything can be solved with math. Again,” he repeated as he withdrew a second flask from his second back pocket.

It was obvious that she was not convinced by his explanation, but she was not in any particular position to argue with him, as much as she wanted to do so. So, softly biting her lip, she turned from him after she was rewound back, which was as jarring this time was it was the first. The next hour passed in relative silence, though her muscles did not ache, each time she tried harder and harder to regulate herself, the pain grew worse and worse. It was as if her body was fighting against itself, pushing itself forward with all of its might while using just as much force to hold her back.

“Okay,” she said, her head starting to seriously hurt from the mental strain and being thrown back in time so many times that she swore than her mind was turning to mush somehow. “This is seriously not working. I’ve tried all this before,” she hadn’t tried this many times in quick succession, which to his credit, was making it a lot easier to make progress, even if none was actually made. “What exactly did you do? It feels like my muscles are trying to break my bones with every movement. I am totally happy about being able to move and all and stuff, but this is seriously not working.”

The young woman turned to him, her eyes a mixture of mental exhaustion and frustration as she glared over at him. She was not angry at him, exactly, but he was the closest outlet for her irritation and he did deserve at least a fraction of that, even if he was the reason she was standing up at all.

The scientist sighed as Suzume finally started to feel the tole beating down on her mind. Four flasks were lined up neatly next to Tama and a fifth one was in his hand. If he still smoked, there would probably be a full ashtray by now, and watching the girl still have such problems figuring out how to use her legs made him want to start again. It wasn’t that she was particularity frustrating by any normal means, but the mad scientist in his little time bubble wasn’t famous for his patience. When she finally said the reoccurring failures was getting to her, the doctor sighed and nodded in defeat before focusing a small ball of chakra between his index and balm. Snapping the finger across his thumb the ball expanded and nullified the rest of the temporal sphere. Immediately the wood under them began to groan and crack under the weight of the fake sand in the middle. Age had hit the logs suddenly, and the entire dojo’s walls and ceiling looked suddenly as if this building had been built before Suzume’s time. With a wobble the doctor stood up and reached into his coat to pull out a little notepad. Slipping a pen out from the metal rings that held the pad together, he opened it up to a clean sheet of paper and began to scribble something down before ripping it off and stumbling over to his patient.

Okay, next step then. Meet me tomorrow at this location, by yourself, and we’ll get this muscle problem solved one way or another.” Then, as per usual Tama bullshit, he disappeared suddenly. The door to the dojo was just as suddenly opened and fresh air followed in. Little more than an hour of actual time had passed.
