She slipped in, not as quietly as one would have thought an Ancient or a shinobi. But she was a vain woman, her heels tapped and clicked the stone floors heralding her presence. Time was short before everyone would know who or what she was. Before she would likely share the fate of her brother if she did not take care. Her time as a human had changed her in many ways, if it was her cold, calculating Ancient nature alone that dictated her choices this 'sentiment' she felt for humanity would not be present. She would not deny herself such simple pleasures. Yet she did. She was even willing to lower herself to the point of near death by fixing her own fight just to protect her human legacy. That was all erased when she felt another sensation: fear. She did not fear death or even pain, she did not seek either but she did not fear them. She did fear, however Mikaboshi's fate. She never cared for the gloomy Ancient, but he was a symbol of what Sousuke would do to her if given reason, opportunity or gain.
She was just to leave a letter, small and unassuming with Mikaboshi's name scrawled across the face. Inside it read simply:
Brother,
You have always been an Ancient of his word. What was your promise?
She did not say more. She did not explain herself. She did not even sign her name to the bottom. Mikaboshi would know who of all the denizens of the village would know to ask such a question. He would not know why of course, that was something he would learn quite soon from Sousuke. She wondered if he would be so cruel as to... yes, he likely would send the shadow after her. Still a question had to be asked and an answer required but with no repository for such yet one could only ask when or where he would be able to leave his reply.
Another day brother. Another day. Adieu.
