Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Tama sat awaiting Yuu in the forests within the village, there was plenty of danger to be found inside the village as well as out. And with that being the case, Tama had thought that for this particular exam she found herself in charge of, she would do something a little wild. Missions could be so blaise, after all. It was good to shake things up. Repetition is boring. Order for chumps.

She sat upon a box in the middle of a clearing, and waiting for the boy's arrival. Hopefully, Kashino Yuu was the punctual boy he had been in class. She would wave to the boy as he entered the clearing, "Ah Punctual-kun, we meet again. It looks like you're ready to move up in the world." She shifted her position on the box, "And I'm more than willing to let you proceed, but first you need to deal with this box. And to do that I suppose you need to remove me from this box."

"But I happen to find this box veeeeeeery comfortable, and as such," Tama flicked her hands and a strong current of wind surrounded her and the box, "will do my best to remain here." She smiled, "So whenever you're ready, come at me."

Currently, Tama is on top of a large box. There is a wall of wind surrounding her. You need to get Tama off of the box and deal with whatever is inside. She is going to respond to all actions by shooting gusts of wind at you to push you back. You can use any methods you can think of to get Tama to move.

Today was a faithful day for Kashino Yuu. He just got a letter that said he was ready for the Genin Exam, much to his excitement. Sure, he learned some Ninjutsu and swordplay Taijutsu by self-taught on books, but he attended many classes as he can to learn more about being a ninja and the jutsus. Because of his determination and his attendance in many classes, he was chosen to do the Genin Exam next as he ran into the Ancient Forest while being cautious of the wild creatures who might ready to attack him. However, one problem for his Exam was...

"Ah Punctual-kun, we meet again."

Yuu sighed in dismay when he saw his proctor for the Exam, which was the tomboyish Chuunin he met from the signature moves class. He liked the class, but for the instructor, he still wondered why she can't say his name right. "Yes, I am ready and for the last time, MY NAME IS YUU!!!" Even he tried to correct her, it would be impossible considered her personality, but enough about that. He needed to focus what kind of Genin Exam he will about to take. As what Tama-sensei explained, there was something in the box that he needed to deal with, but he had to move her out of the box to proceed because she found it very comfortable. He can't even blame her, this was a test and he needed to do something to make her move.

Yet it was easier said than done as she used a jutsu to conjure a strong current of wind to make sure he won't get through her, which Yuu smiled at the little challenge he was given. As for the given situation, he started to wonder about passing through the current without recklessly jumped in and blow himself away. She didn't say anything not to use jutsus, but just in case, he decided to use his spear and running towards to his proctor, he tried to use it to reach through the current to her clothing.

Tama chuckled as the boy screamed his name. Ah, his reactions were spot on! she thought. It was just so much fun teasing him."I see you favor the direct approach. There is a market for that," Tama began as Yuu leveled his spear at her and charged into the circling gusts. "Some girls like a guy who can get straight to the point." Tama watched as Yuu pushed towards her. The spear easily pierced the wind but the constant pressure turned it to the side, causing Yuu to follow suit. The wind current carried the boy to his left and the momentum from his charge left him to barrel past Tama entirely. "Unfortunately, a maiden's heart isn't necessarily so easy to navigate. Though Shiri-tan did it exceptionally well." Tama was about to begin gushing over her lover and husband-to-be when she remembered her audience. She lightly coughed and said with a straight face, "You would do well to remember that Yu-, Punctual-kun."

What Yuu felt before being carried away by the wind, was a second barrier of wind wrapped closer around Tama. One that has spear would not penetrate by physical strength alone. He would also notice that the outer current of wind flowed continuously in one direction, clockwise around Tama.

Tama shifted on the box again, now lying on her stomach with her head propped on her hands, legs idly kicking in the air. "Now try it again, and don't forget to learn from rejection. Love...and shinobi-stuff take perseverance to succeed! You've only lost if you give up," Tama paused and thought for a bit, "or die I suppose. But you're not going to die at the moment so you should be fine." With that Tama waited to see what Yuu would try next. As an after thought she added, "Use whatever you like, nin, gen, tai. There's no limitations in this exam."

Yuu pierced the wind current and discovered a second current behind it. Regular attacks will not be enough to penetrate this second barrier. Yuu also noticed that the currents flow clockwise around Tama. Also, Yuu knows that Tama loves a 'Shiri-tan.'

Your objective remains the same.

Yuu sighed in annoyance to the fact that Tama-sensei was still teasing him. But that was the least of his worries as expected, the wind was too strong for his spear or himself to get through. But what he didn't expect was the second current that caused him to flew to the left as he passed through his proctor before crashed onto a nearby tree. As he recovered from that failure, she started gushing over this 'Shiri-tan' person. But he didn't care about that info right now despite he was curious at who that was. However, the important goal right now was to get through the inner and outer current of strong wind to moved Tama out of the box.

"I don't know much more about love takes perseverance, but I know I won't give up until I passed the Exam." He was aware of this difficult task to do in order to pass the Genin Exam, so he decided not to give up until it's over. And with Tama told him there are no limitations in here, Yuu was relieved he can do whatever he want. But the problem was what jutsu he will use. He thought of using a Stun Genjutsu, but his objective was to move Tama out, not to let her stay there. Body Switch will able to get him through the wind, but the problem was he can't switch places with Tama as he needed an inanimate object to do so.

Not having a choice in this matter, he sighed in dismay and created a few handseals. "Okay, if you say so..." After that, his right hand was enveloped in blue electricity and with his fingertips, he aimed two of them to Tama-sensei and attempted to shoot a bolt of electricity to her. "Storm Bolt!" There might be a chance for her to dodge, but he will have to try no matter what.
Action:
Yuu attempt to shoot Tama with Storm Bolt.

Yuu's bolt of lightning pierced through the first wind current with ease. When it struck the second, there was a small explosion and wind rushed outward for a second pushing Yuu back a few steps. Afterwards, there was a stillness in the air and Yuu could tell that both wind currents were no longer there. However, a few seconds passed and wind rushed back towards Tama, and both currents quickly reformed. "Well now that the secret's out, I suppose you'll get it on your next try," Tama said idly.

That was fine, three tries was good enough for Tama. Any longer and she would have gotten bored of the whole thing. It was time to proceed to the next phase of the exam. The chuunin waited for the boy to apply what he had gathered from his previous two attempts, which should place him right next to Tama. If he was successful in navigating of the two wind barriers, Tama would hop off the box and bid him to look inside. If not, Tama would continue to circulate wind around herself until he figured it out.

Once he made it past the wind barrier, he would find curled up inside the box, in the midst of fluffy pillows and blankets, a pair of sleeping mountain lion cubs.
a.baa-baby-mountain-lions.jpg
The sudden light change caused the sleeping balls of cuteness to wake, and the cubs mewled curiously at the would-be genin. Then behind him, Yuu heard the ominous growl of a mother mountain lion, who had been frantically searching for her lost children. "Your final task is to make it back to the village proper alive," Tama whispered before fading into her ethereal form and gliding up to the treetops so she could observe how the situation would play out.

The lioness eyed Yuu and began to slink around the boy, looking for an opening. Yuu would notice that this animal fully intended to kill him if he gave it an opportunity to do so. The wild creature waited to react to any movements Yuu made. How would Yuu solve this final challenge?

Hooray! You figured out Tama's wind barriers! But now you need to deal with the angry lioness. You may use any method you can think of to deal with the enraged beast.

Yuu thought that the bolt of electricity he made might shocked his proctor enough to move. But he didn't expect that not only it pierced through the wind current, but it created a small explosion after it struck the second one, which caused the wind from it to pushed Yuu a few steps back. "Too... strong!" After he recovered from it, he then saw the currents reformed, which he then realized that his Lightning Jutsu somehow disrupt them for some reason. Yet, another problem right now that they can reform after a few seconds, so he needed a strategy. A stronger Jutsu would be nice to take care both of the currents, but it can still reform. No matter how many shots he can fire with his Jutsu, they will always come back. He can't just run through them while the currents are gone.

"Wait a minute... Run through it while they are gone? Hmm... That might be a good idea, but I need to think fast to get past through them." With this idea now in his mind, Yuu then created more handseals while he charged onto the wind currents. "Storm Bolt!" Still charging into the currents, he shot out a bolt of lightning from his fingertips and as he expected, while it pierced through the first wind current like earlier, the second one exploded and nullify the first one. Although he flew back again, he didn't stop running as he quickly recovered and charged straight until he might reached Tama-sensei. "Did... I... passed... the first stage of the exam?"

[MFT/WC: 260]

EDIT:

Before he can recover from his exhaustion, he then found himself in front of the now opened box where he saw some sleeping lion cubs on some pillow. Well, it "was" as they slowly woke up and mewed at the young Academy Student. "Lion cubs? Why in the world are they here inside the box?" Before he can even wonder about these cute little creatures, he heard an ominous growl and when he sheepishly turned around, Yuu was horrified to see a mountain lion glaring at him in anger. As he became horrified at the carnivore right in front of him, he heard his proctor's whisper before she disappeared. "Your final task is to make it back to the village proper alive."

Yuu groaned at this as not only his current situation was the final stage of his exam, but he might have guess Tama-sensei must have something to involve the cubs inside the box. Regardless, his new objective right now was to escape from the angry lion. Attacking it would be a good idea, but that would risk his own life since this was a misunderstanding. Instead, he needed to rely on his Genjutsu as he created some handseals with the lion as his target. "Sorry about this, but... STUN!" If he successfully stunned the mountain lion with his Genjutsu, he jumped over her and attempt to run for his life, which he predict that the lion will chase him if it doesn't work.
Action:
Yuu used Storm Bolt again to negate the wind currents and used it's negation in an attempt to reach Tama to the box
EDIT: Yuu used Stun in an attempt to incapacitate the mountain lion for a few seconds and tries to run out of the box

The mother cougar tensed her muscles as she prepared to pounce on the fleeing student, but found herself frozen in place at the last moment. This allowed the young shinobi-in-training to gain some much needed distance between himself and the predator. However, the minds of animals are different from that of men, and with the distance Yuu was putting between himself and his target, it resulted in the mountain-dweller being able to shake off the effects of Yuu's jutsu. An angry yowl from behind the boy would signal that he had gotten as much of a headstart as he would be getting.

Yuu had reached the halfway point between the clearing and the village proper, with the cougar in hot pursuit and steadily gaining. Genjutsu would be unavailable to the boy this time, so he would have to use another tactic to escape the mother's wrath. He couldn't hope to continue to outrun her for long. And she was preparing to pounce once again onto the fleeing Academy Student.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tama lithely leaped from tree branch to tree branch, marking Yuu's progress. Her ghostly form keeping her all but invisible to the predator and hopefully-not-prey below her. Punctual-kun's decision and actions were admirable. Perhaps he was more like her than she had originally thought, most people wouldn't have the guts to challenge a wild beast to a footrace. Especially when said beast wanted nothing more than to maul you. This is fun! What will you do next Punctual-kun? she thought to herself. Truly adding the lion cubs and mama lion had been the right decision to spice up this exam.

The good news: Yuu managed to use his Genjutsu long enough to escape from the box. The bad news: The cougar snapped out of it sooner that he thought as she started to chase the young Academy Student in anger. Judging on how she managed to escape from his Genjutsu that easily, he knew he can't use another Genjutsu once more. Thankfully, as he continued running away from the mountain lion, he noticed that he was halfway back to the village. But with the cougar still chasing him, he knew he can't lead her to it as she will attack the people inside. So diverting the cougar was the first thing he needed to do before he can completely escape from it.

But with Genjutsu won't work on the cougar as it can shook it off that easily, he needed another strategy. With his strategy on incapacitating her with his Lightning Ninjutsu's light was his only option left, he needed to be careful not to hurt the cougar or he might regret it. "Sorry again for this in case it might hit you." With his mind on missing this attack, he created some handseals and aimed his hands to the cougar. "Thunderclap!" With a strong clap, he attempted to shoot the electricity to random directions so it will not hurt the cougar but to distract it. If it succeeds, he then used his legs with all of his might to run away as fast as he can and hopefully reached the village on time with the cougar now our of his sight.

Yuu used Thunderclap and hopefully missed the cougar in an attempt to distract or incapacitate it.

Tama watched closely as Yuu continued to dash through the forest. The kid was ridiculously hard to hit for the cougar. You'd think that pouncing on smaller creatures all its life, one kid would be a breeze, Tama thought to herself. Still at the rate it was going it seemed that the beast was going to catch up and finish the boy, unless he thought of something fast. "Uwahhh," Tama muttered, "I'm going to have to take responsibility for this if it goes south won't I..." She debated intervening with the test at this point, though it would invalidate the results, a living student would be preferable to a dead one. And less paperwork, and less guilt too. I'll definitely think of a better wild animal to use next time. Clearly she wasn't repenting, but fortunately neither she nor Yuu would have to suffer a repeat of death by wild animal.

Yuu's fingers quickly ran through some handseals, and after a quick muttered apology let loose a stream of crackling thunder at the purrsuing feline. The cat was startled, not by the flashes of light, but at the loud sound that followed. Lightning and thunder have always caused animals to react defensively, and the mother moutain lion was no different, the cat sprang to the nearest tree and began to climb. That particular tree happened to be the one Tama was observing from, and knowing that her ghostly from wasn't a surefire disguise against the heightened sense of the denizens of the wild. So as the cat climbed up, she floated down and rematerialized next to Yuu.

"Good job, Punctual-kun. Thunder scares most beasts, so it's an excellent deterrent for an animal that lives so far away from civilization. But we should be thankful it isn't used to shinobi, otherwise it could have ignored your little distraction completely," Tama remarked. I'm not going to mention that I hadn't actually considered that until now. No need to worry the kid. "Ahem, anyways, you passed your exam with fleeing, er, flying colors. Welcome to your new life as a living weapon, Genin Kashino!" With that Tama left for the village proper, no doubt to fill out the paperwork and totally make sure she was not reprimanded for putting a resource of the village in a life-threatening situation on purpose for a test.

The cougar returned to its life in the wild, with its two adorable cubs, and vowed never again to wander too close to the village proper of Kumogakure. Scary things existed there after all.

As if a miracle rained down on him, his plan worked as the mountain lion was so completely startled at stream of lightning he made from his jutsu, she ran away from him to a nearest tree she can climb. Because of this, she stopped chasing the young boy anymore, much to Yuu's relief as he completely managed to arrive a few feet away from the village. But just as he was about to completely leave the forest, his proctor appeared out of nowhere next to him and congratulate him on his plan. Turns out according to Tama-sensei, thunder scares most beats and the cougar was no exception. Although, Yuu was a little guilty about scaring the poor animal away as he understand that she was trying to protect her cubs.

As he wondered what happened to the cougar right now, his worries were broke as Tama declared that he passed the Genin Exam with flying colors, which means that Yuu was now promoted to Genin, a new shinobi of Lightning Country. He was completely happy at this as he finally realized his dream to protect his loved ones, although he would have feel comfortable if she hadn't called him a living weapon. "Thank you, Tama-sensei. I'll make sure I won't let this village down. But please, call me Yuu from now on." However, his last sentence were ignored as Tama-sensei already left. It couldn't be helped though as he was more excited at his new life as a Genin. Regardless, his next move right now was to enter the village once more and tell his family the good news.
