Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A Whole New World~ [Yume/Open]

Despite having only been around the young inuzuka for a short time, her demeanor had changed drastically by the post-meal of their evening. While that may only remain for the duration of their time together, it was a glimpse to the type of person Yume could eventually become, one hungry for knowledge and willing to seek it out; even if this time it was just a matter of asking Uri, but in the future it could mean so much more. A new pathway was set before her and he destiny had been laid on a different track.

"Ge-La-To."<i></i> He said aloud, a finger raised in the air as he corrected his companion, "But yes, it is quite delicious."<i></i>

The enthusiasm she shared now was of a child's quality; energetic and longing to experience more. If everyone lived life like that then they would never have a regret, never be left wondering. Yume continued on talking as if she were speaking with a girlfriend over at a sleep over, letting loose whatever came to mind at the time. It was clear she was enjoying herself and that was good. The stresses of daily life could weigh heavily on those who seek to help others. This way those thoughts wouldn't burden her until she had to deal with them once more, tomorrow morning at the construction site.

They arrived in short order, the time from their walk vanishing in rapt conversation. As Yume opened the doorway into the parlor, it was like a magical portal materializing to a land of sugar and cream and delight.

For a moment Uri just stood their and stared, mesmerized.

The greeting from the shop-owner disturbed him long enough for him to snap back to his senses. Following behind the med-nin and her fox, he relished the chill in the air and the sweet scent lingering about the store. When the two began their exchange, Uri sat there with a look of mild curiosity. The woman behind the counter he knew, but he couldn't place from where. Lots of faces filtered through his mind as he reviewed his childhood in Sunagakure. As Yume introduced them to one another, everything clicked into place when Obana's name was mentioned. The older woman slowly made her way from behind the display case and gave Uri a once over. The whole time Uri wore a fond, bright smile. She embraced him without speaking a word.

"It's been too long, Oba. You insult me, thinking that I would forget you."<i></i>

Uri used the hold she had on him to pull her back into another hug, lifting her feet from the ground. The moment wasn't a long one, but a powerful one.

"Yume-chan, believe it or not, this is my Auntie too. Her husband used to work with my father when I was younger. Oba used to look after me when I was but a wee lad. In those days, however, I used to come up to her waist."<i></i> He turned back to his self-proclaimed Aunt, "Is this what you got up to when we got down here, Oba? Had I been less busy with my family's business, I would have visited frequently."<i></i>

The important tidbit of information Uri hadn't mentioned is that both Obana's husband and Uri's father both died due to the move underground, a place she regarded as her one and only home.

The sunshine couldn’t rival the glow that Yume cast as she watched Oba and Uri get reunited. It was a hunch that they may have known each other due to Uri’s apparent love for sweets but she wasn’t sure. She knew that Oba had only opened the shop up after her husbands passing as a method of employment but it had turned rather profitable for her; at least enough to keep bills paid and allow her to save a little. The Shindous never had a family of their own but their house was always open to the village children and Obana ran a day care for the academy students before the descent. That was where Kara and Shinji had met her. Riki had met her husband through his duties to the village; it seemed like everyone in Suna were acquainted some how. For a second Yume wondered if Uri’s father had been friends with her parents but quickly dismissed the thought. There was no point in pondering useless quandaries when her attention was better in the here and now.

The older woman would pat Uri’s cheek as he put her down, giving him a smile and chuckling a little as she made her way around the counter again and spread her arms with palms facing skyward to showcase the ice cream. Stepping forward, Yume was mindful not to breathe to heavily so she wouldn’t fog the glass and kept her hands behind her back so she wouldn’t leave finger prints. Her wide eyes danced over the many colours before being drawn to ¾ of the way down where she was entranced by orange and black swirls. Without thinking, her finger would poke at the glass as she exclaimed triumphantly.

Ohhhh! May I have that one please, Oba-san? Two scoops!

Her cheeks would flush the moment she realized that she had marred the glass, seemingly oblivious to the marks lower down from the children who had been in the shop earlier that day. She would glance around for a way to clean it off before mumbling a quick apology and scratching the back of her head nervously. Obana simply responded with a laugh and waved off her guilt before leaning into the freezer with a scoop in one hand and a cone in the other, emerging shortly with a stacked treat. Handing it over the glass to Yume, she would look to Uri as she swapped out the used scoop for a clean one.

A lot of memories from Uri's past were not fond ones, at least not within the village, but there were a select few instances that helped shape him into the person he was today. Obana was one influence that had Uri being a much more amiable person, if someone could ever believe the chuunin not being the kind type. As Yume received her frozen treat, Uri's eyes wandered over the case, taking in all the wonderful colors before him. Good ice cream was as much an art as sculpting a statue from marble or creating armor from raw ore. He knew no matter the flavor he would indulge in that it would be an excellent treat. When the two women were looking at him expectantly, he rose a hand to his chin, hunching over at his waist at a near ninety-degree agree to inspect everything closer, as if it would suddenly reveal a new flavor he hadn't previously seen upon his first glance.

"So, what will it be, Uri-chan?"<i></i>

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......I pick...........Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat-"<i></i> He had a finger hovering near the surface of the glass as he made his decision, unable to be happy with just one flavor, "One. And that one. And that one."<i></i> He righted himself and beamed over the counter to the older woman, "On a cone! Please!"<i></i> Obana shook her head, but smiled as she reached into the case and create the triple scoop he asked for. When she was finished, she turned her back to them for a brief moment and when she handed it over to Uri it was coated in rainbow sprinkles. Between the pink and blue, purple with pink crunchy pieces, and the purple ice creams with little spheres in it, his ice cream looked like a circus act on a cone.

The pearly white smile widened even more when Uri took hold of it, "You remembered!"<i></i>

"How could I not?"<i></i> Obana turned to Yume and nodded towards Uri, "When I used to babysit him as a wee youngin', I would catch him eating all kinds of random baking supplies. He would poop rainbows."<i></i>

The chuunin tinged a little bit red in the face, but didn't shy away from the story and instead laughed wholeheartedly in remembrance of his childhood shenanigans, "I guess I've always had a thing for sugar. What's a guy to do?"<i></i>

"That's also why we think his hair is so white compared to his mother's. Y'know. From all the sugar."<i></i>

There was no denying that Uri had a sweet tooth and a long history of it too. Carefully, he ran his tongue over the delicious spheres, carving a pathway through the layer of sprinkles and leaving bare ice cream underneath. A myriad of colors stuck to his lips and it only made his grin that much more comical. There were just some things in his life that always seemed to make him smile like a fool, and this had hit just the right spot, "Good call, Yume-chan."<i></i> Uri looked back to the old woman, hand reaching into his satchel for money, "What do we owe you, Oba?"<i></i>

Yume resisted the urge to reach up and ruffle Uri’s hair at the explanation of why it was so white. Instead she just smiled up, wondering what it would have been like to know him when he was younger, which caused a pause in her ice cream eating that CuRua took advantage of; leaning over her shoulder and taking a few licks before she noticed. Snickering, she pulled the cone from the fox and kissed the tip of his nose, smooching off a tidbit that had smeared there, and proceeded to eat the cone facing away from his muzzle.

They paid the older lady and traded hugs as they departed her shop, continuing their journey home under a blanket of stars that the artificial sky graced them with. Keeping her mouth busy with the treat left little time for Yume to make small talk, but by the joyous noises that came from her direction it was evident that she was savouring every moment of it. Their path was rather direct considering the late hour and soon the travellers found themselves at the edge of the Palais. Popping the last bite of cone into her mouth, she crunched it to pieces before enveloping Uri in a grateful hug.

I hate to admit that I doubted you… but I didn’t think a stranger would care to help so much. Now that I see you still have ties to the village, I understand. We’ll have the hospital built in no time! You’ll have to come visit me at work when it is! Just not as a patient… or as one… I’m not wishing poor health on you or anything! It’s just that I’m proud of my work and would gladly be your physician.

Her words ceased as she slammed her mouth shut and covered it with her hand, attempting to hide the blush as well. No sooner had the words escaped that she realized how terrible her choice of words were; there were connotations that she understood but did not mean. Clearing her throat, she shrinks a little and looks up while keeping her head bowed, her embarrassment still very apparent. Her fingers knotted together as she took a few deep breathes, stood tall and tucked her bangs behind one ear. Beaming a smile to Uri, her hand would shoot into the air in an exaggerated wave.

It was good to see you again Uri-san!

Pivoting on her heel, she bounded away with skipping steps in the direction of the Levels and the town home she shared with her brother. One of these days she would be comfortable talking to males without shoving her metaphorical foot in her mouth.

The chuunin laughed, carefully taking another lick from his ice cream cone, "Doubting in people is like believing there is only darkness. Some of the greatest figures of the known world would have never accomplished anything without people looking for the greatness in them. There's light outside this cave, Yume-chan."<i></i>

He grinned, the pastel colors of his treat coating his lips. Carefully balancing the snack in one hand, he made a low bow, his face dipping below his knees in one long, sweeping gesture, "I'll see you bright and early tomorrow. A lot of work yet to be done! Farewell and good night, Yume-chan!"<i></i>

The two parted ways and Uri enjoyed his sugary snack all the way home. The Palais was a pleasant place when there wasn't creepy things hiding in the shadows. Once he was home, he found his mother asleep in the front room waiting for him. Like the good son he was, he carried her to bed and tucked her in before collapsing into his own resting place in the small room adjacent. What greatness was the village waiting for before it too would see light again? What was going to happen before they finally decided to do something other than wait complacently below the sands. Uri's existence was one of deep experiences and numerous questions he would probably never find the answers to, but he would seek them out and learn what he could, even if it meant traveling down paths that he wouldn't otherwise.

One more day towards greatness.
