Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

Akane and Akihiko both have pale white skin, jet black hair and bloody red eyes due to their albinism. Their hair are both cut short making them completely identical with each other. Nobody else but their elder brother, Tatsuya, was able to differentiate them from each other before they were surgically joined together.

Due to their abduction by the 最高人民 Saiko Jinmin (or the SAIJIN Guild), the two have been surgically conjoined together in order to survive. From their shoulder down to their hipbone, they are now attached to each other and share one set of major organs while having two hearts. Evidence of them not being conjoined at birth is evident as, without clothing, what constitutes as their center is exposed and deformed (the results of a shoddy and rushed procedure). As such, fresh bandages are required and must be replaced at least three times a day. Loose clothing is also advised.

Character's Personality:

Before they became Aka, the two were proud members of the Shoukyou main branch, dedicated to serving and protecting the lord and heir of their clan. They were considered prodigies in their family though they were not looked upon kindly due to their mischievous and more illicit activities outside of their duties.

They were a secretive pair. Loyal and trusting only each other and their elder brother. Masks of childish innocence and playfulness were their tools, both having been regarded as pranksters, in order to hide their more sinister natures. Their childish, young natures and appearances are only there to fool others, so that they can be underestimated and overlooked. Within these two are rather demonic souls, the darkness in their minds daring to ravish those who stand in their way. Considering that they’ve been raised by the Mist equivalent of a Mafia, they can be ruthless and without mercy to their enemies. They have been trained to be quick and cunning, swift on their feet and with their hands and are not hesitant to use foul play to get what they want – they are not honor bound, goody two shoes after all.

The two liked to play with other people; their minds and their bodies. Often, they had switched identities just to throw off people on whom was who. The short haired twin was polite and soft spoken whereas the long haired twin was loud and rude. Each one could easily be either twin. Phobias were a favorite topic, as they liked the thought of picking people apart based on what they fear and have been known to break people down using mere words. But, most of all they tended to look at human bodies as tools, mere vehicles of the soul and weren’t adverse to experimentation in order to unlock someone’s true potential.

In the present, they are a ghost of themselves. The two flit between extreme paranoia due to their trauma, showing some signs that Akane and Akihiko are still there, or bouts of obliviousness, where they act like wild and wounded children, unaware of themselves and the world around them.

Character History:

Born to the prestigious Shoukyou family, Akane and Akihiko were of the Main Branch, son and daughter to Shoukyou Seiichi and Asami, brother and sister to Shoukyou Tatsuya.

The twins were raised in the belief that their family was superior especially those with tainted blood and were given the task of serving their family, especially their elder brother, the heir. Although loved and given the choice to be individuals, the twins had a strange connection wherein they were synchronized or, at the very least, able to understand each other’s mental and emotional being and chose, at a young age, to train and grow as a unit. As Shinobi, they trained to perform as a team together and, as a result, are hardly seen without each other. As Shinobi, their goals were to serve their family, first and foremost, even before their own country.

Starting at the Academy at the age of seven, on a technicality, they graduated two years later with flying colours in all avenues… with a little cheating on their part. For one twin was better at certain aspects than another, they impersonated each other to make up for the other faults even to the point that during most of their stay in the Academy, their peers believed they were merely one student.

Unlike their elder brother, they were not hesitant to humiliate and debase their peers and even some of their teachers by proving themselves more intelligent and superior in every possible way they could. It had earned the notorious reputations as delinquents, although they could never be punished due to their outstandingly clean records (again, with a little cheating on their part). Because of this, they were fairly disliked by the entire school population except, perhaps, for a select few who could tolerate their strangeness.

To everyone’s surprise, they separated after graduation. Akane joined the infamous ANBU Corps while Akihiko joined the renowned Medical Corps. Akane became a part of the ANBU’s Intelligence squad while Akihiko worked in surgery and at the morgue. Unbeknownst to all but their parents, brother, the ANBU Sennin and the Mizukage (the latter two for their permission), they only chose to do so to be able to receive training from both fields, trading places every so often without anyone else none the wiser.

In between their duties at the hospital and as ANBU, they continued their civilian studies and also took their roles as Tatsuya’s bodyguards very seriously. At the age of thirteen, it was ordained that Akane was to be married to the Isaki clan’s heir to promote unity between the two old and powerful families, much to the sister’s dismay.

They were momentarily withdrawn from active duty to serve their clan and has recently returned to the active roster. Due to their inactivity though, they were removed from the active ANBU roster and had to take a backseat as medic in the Sanatorium.

After the Great Freeze that took over Mist, they joined the rest of their families as nomads of the land, eyes set on traveling to Moon. On the way, they acted as mercenaries, doing the odd job and assassination in order to foster connections and trade.

It was in one of these jobs that Akane and Akihiko disappeared.

They were taken by the SAIJIN Guild a human supremacist group who had once fronted as a mercenary guild. Not much has been uncovered about their goals. Learning of the two’s capabilities and powers, the group believed that the two would help them with the completion or Project 騎手 Kishu. They planned to create an army of the undead in order to wipe the world clean with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse at the helms. And, being their creators, only SAIJIN would be able to stop them and act as saviors, heroes and leaders of the future world.

Project Kishu was successful. Utilizing the twin’s innate talents as Dark Sages, they were able to turn three other individuals into vessels of the Horsemen. Before results was attained, however, the two underwent several months of torture and experimentation, eventually forcing that the two be joined in order to survive. Only three of the four Horsemen have been identified thus far: Aka - Death, Shoukyou Aika - Famine and Mizushima Nanami - Pestilence. The identity and whereabouts of War along with the rest of the guild remain unknown ever since their disappearance. Even now, it is difficult to determine who the members and leaders of SAIJIN are due to Project 騎 Ki?, a sleeper agent protocol, and Project 洗脳 Sen'no, a thought reform system.

As Project Kishu was about to enter its final phase, an attack led to the escape of their subjects and the destruction of the false mercenary guild. Shoukyou Aika wound up in Stone, Mizushima Nanami ending up in Sand and with Aka wandering neutral territory with neither mind nor memory.

By chance, they were found by their brother Tatsuya and taken to Moon, left in the care of their mother. Though they showed improvement when it came to their mental state, little was able to be done. Reverting the damage torture and experimentation wrought on the twins seemed impossible. Ironic that their tools of the trade had been used on them. And nothing could hold them back from wandering off into the greater world once they regained enough sense and control to defend themselves.

Akane and Akihiko seek revenge on SAIJIN, though it is Aka who is mostly at the helm.

That Thing (or This Thing) is a reanimated severed hand of unknown origin. The twins found it during a less than authorized excursion outside of Kirigakure during their Academy days. It used to simply be a preserved limb until the two gave it life and started treating it like an assistant and a pet. It’s very fond and protective of the two, using unarmed (get it? Unarmed?) to protect its masters.

A young nurse whose body was found abandoned in the middle of the desert. Her once beautiful face is now beyond recognition and her leg has been broken, leaving her a shambling ghost of the woman she once was. With most of their bodies already decayed, they coalesce into this strange being in the hopes to breathe fresh air once more. The two conjoined devils promise them justice, safe passage... and acceptance in exchange for their help. A promise they will definitely hold on to.

It is not uncommon in the shinobi world for people to be raised and taught to restrain, or otherwise outright erase any emotions or attachment they may feel. While many shinobi seem to ignore the old ways, few are able to do the opposite and harness the strength of their emotions at a seconds notice. Those with this ability are gifted with the ability to read the emotions of others, and let their passion fuel and guide their abilities. Some possess emotions so strong, so intense, that they are able to draw out their feelings in the form of physical energy, at the cost of their own heart and soul's well being.

Note: All techniques and buffs from this Core Ability are considered Spiritual.

Empathy Scan - Passive (2 points)
Emotions are the basis of these shinobi's abilities, there is little they do not understand about the causes and strengths of their feelings, as well as the outcomes they may influence on a person’s mind. Because of their extensive knowledge, these shinobi are able to read the emotions of others be it a frail child or hardened criminal. With their understanding, it is said that those with this gift are able to understand the action’s of other’s before they themselves decide.
Effect: +1.5 accuracy and dodge against those with a Genjutsu of 30 or more lower than user. Those with Genjutsu between 29 lower and equal to the user must make a Genjutsu save against this technique's success each round, using the Genjutsu DC of the user and Genjutsu Save of the target.

Emotion Bindings - Independent Special Move (2 points)
Restriction- C Rank and up
At times, a person's emotions can cause them to behave irrationally and without thought, though for these shinobi they possess the ability to actually use the intense strength of their emotions to create a physical energy, using the pure intensity of their passion to restrain others to the air itself.
Effect: Allows the user to create 4 blades that hit at -1 Ninjutsu accuracy. Should all four hit, the target is chakra bound. If the bound victim is targeted offensively, the binding is dispelled. Can only be used on one target at a time, and once per battle per target successfully. Costs 1 AP.

Emotion Barrier - Independent Special Move (2 points)
These shinobi are attuned to their inner feelings, and as such they are easily capable of forming strong bonds of attachment with others. At time’s, there is little that is stronger than their intense desire to protect other's, and they are able to create a visible form of their desire to protect in the form of a barrier. Though this energy is not chakra as it may appear, but rather a portion of the user’s own life force sacrificed for the well being of others.
Effect: User is able to use up to 10% of their Max HP to create a barrier around themselves and others. This used HP cannot be recovered while the barrier is in effect. Healing jutsu used within the barrier gain +25% effectiveness; Genjutsu cannot be cast through the barrier. The barrier lasts three rounds or until the HP is depleted. If the barrier drops with any HP left in it, this HP is returned to the user. Usable three times a battle. Costs 1 AP.

Sentimental - Passive (3 points)
Much in the same way that these shinobi are able to peer into and read the emotions of others, these shinobi are constantly able to sense the feelings of those around them, and understand with an eerie perception that allows them to react and act upon the feelings of others.

To those who understand the workings of the emotions of other’s, one can find that manipulating them is a simple task that only requires a bit of subtle guidance. These shinobi are able to play with the inner natures of others to such a degree, that they are nearly able to bend the will of others to suit their own causes, even if it is a simple act of raising their disposition them more.
Effect: Able to target one person with a Genjutsu-like effect for a duration of two rounds. During this time, the target must succeed against a Genjutsu roll in order to attack the user. Costs 500 HP to use and 250 to maintain the second round. The same target cannot be affected more than once per battle.

Compassionate - Passive (2 points)
Time has long been understood as the only remedy to heal emotional wounds, taking months to heal some of the deeper wounds. However, to those with the deep understanding of these same emotions, they find that their emotional wounds heal quickly, and the gap in their soul left by their drawn out emotions can be healed with little more than time.
Effect: Self-inflicted damage is recovered at 3% max HP per round. Damage that is not self inflicted cannot be recovered this way. Allows recovery of lost HP from Emotion Barrier while still in the barrier.

Emotional Torque - Boost (1 point)
Restriction- May be purchased up to twice
The power of the Empathetic's emotions, their own combined with what they see in other people, is sometimes too intense for them to handle. They need to channel it through their chakra, letting it fuel their attacks instead of tearing at their souls.
Effect: +5% Ninjutsu damage

Inner Passion - Passive (3 points)
Restriction- C Rank and up
Emotions, while often viewed as a sign of weakness, can be a powerful tool if embraced and utilized to their full extent. Unlike other shinobi who only feel brief and momentary spurs of emotion, these shinobi fuel themselves with their intense emotions and desires, and little seems to be able to quench the flames of their passion.
Effect: The user gains 10% damage reduction against all damage including other soul techniques, and does not take knockback or falling penalties. Effects that would prevent them from attacking are 5% less likely to succeed and AP reducing techniques only have 50% normal chance of working on them.

Spiritual Anguish - Jutsu (1 point, 1 to rank up)
Restrictions- A-Rank and Up
It is rumored that this technique strikes at the very soul of its victim, but whether or not this is true, what is the soul other than the inner emotions of a being? With their understanding and ability to use their own emotions as a source of power, these compassionate shinobi find that that can use this ability to strike at the same source in another. This technique damages the life force, or soul, of the victim, overflowing them with a surge of emotional energy that both painfully disrupts and rips a hole in the life force of the target.
Rank 1: Uses Ninjutsu accuracy. A successful hit disrupts 2 AP worth of actions and Deals 2000 damage to the victim's HP and CP. If the victim fails a Genjutsu Save, they take an additional 1000 unbuffable damage and a -1 dodge and Genjutsu Save penalty for three rounds afterward.
