History:
The Childhood Years:
Akagi's upbringing was very nomadic and resulted in very few friendships and the beginnings of his social deficiency. Raised by two general merchants Aiko and Kasa Mitsunari, Akagi saw lots of the Wind Country very early in his life which would later prove useful in identifying his surroundings. Travelling was a big part of Akagi's life, but his family would occasionally park the caravan in a city from 2-3 years until the next move. The most influential of these locals was when the family stopped at Soon's Haven, a merchant community by the ocean. Akagi arrived here when he was 6 and lived in the region for 2 years which were the most charming experience of his life. In the two years he lived there he received education from his parents and made his first relationship with a girl named Miu. Miu was a lavishly beautiful young girl with red hair stretching to her waist. She was slightly shorter than Akagi and seemed to be older. Miu had approached Akagi after one of the items off of their caravan had unhinged and dropped to the ground. Akagi reclaimed the item and told her they were stay in Soon's Haven for a few years and that he hoped to see her again. With that the two would not see each other for 3 moths until Akagi would begin going to the marketplace for groceries. Miu worked with her mother who was equally beautiful as a fresh market clerk. The two planned to regularly meet at the pier every other day coordinating with both of their schedules. For the next year the two would bond over activities and chatting revealing secrets about themselves and their families, however Miu strictly never talked about her father. The more she eluded away from her father the more curios Akagi became. Eventually so curious that he secretly followed her home after there usual meeting to see why she wouldn't talk about him. Akagi sat close to their sandstone window where a curtain draped over the seal. Yelling could be heard from inside from a manly figure and what appeared to Miu's mothers voice. A loud clash rose the alarm inside Akagi as he peeked in to see what had happened, standind tall above a collapsed woman was what Akagi could only assume to be Miu's father. Akagi hadn't seen any sign of Miu since she entered and surveyed the room for her from the window. Akagi not sure as of what to do stayed still frozen in fear of the father seeing him. Akagi looked away curling up next to the window unsure of what to do jumped back up to the sound of a young girl shrieking. Hopping through the window brushing away the curtain. Once inside he surveyed the room for the noise, dead ahead past the collapsed mother was a stair case were words erupted, "Stay away from that damn boy and his family! Do you understand me!," another loud clash could be heard from up the stairs. Akagi leaped over the mother who was unconscious, up the creaking stairs, to a flat wood floored childs room with Miu standing pinned against the wall by her father. She was clearly also unconscious, but the father wouldn't let up. Without hesitation Akagi entered the room and yelled at the father to let go of Miu. He winced and turned around in a very menacing fashion replying to Akagi, "Who are you and what are you doing in my house." Now turned around Akagi could clearly see the father had thrown up on himself and was intoxicated. Not knowing any better Akagi charged at the father arms flaling in hopes of deterring the father enough for Miu to wake up and escape. The father raised his hand and slammed his palm against the cheek of Akagi sending him sprawling on to the floor. Barely holding his eyes open, Akagi saw Miu begin to wake up and shed tears at the display being put on. The father lifted his foot up prepared to stomp Akagi's head stopped moments before by his daughters words, "Akagi, help me!" The father grimacingly turned to Miu slowly stumbling towards. With the words Miu spoke, Akagi felt something he had never felt before: someone needing him. With this new feeling came a sudden rush of stamina, lifting himself off the ground and sprinting past the father to Miu. Knowing akagi was not fit to fight the Father he grabbed Miu before the father could react and slowly pulled her to her bedside window. The father attempted to run for the window but tripped over himself and fell in his own puke. Pressing through the window Akagi held tightly to Miu and fell backfirst to the ground with her in his arms from the second story room. Everything to Akagi was shaky as he tried to catch his breath, the sound of people rushing to them and shouts for help filled his eardrums as he lie while everything fell to black.
Once awoken Akagi was told that Miu was safe and so was her mother and that the father had been taken away, somewhere far away. His parents rested by his side in the room of just a bedroll and candles comforting Akagi, telling him that he was a hero and that what he did was right. The following month saw no change in routine Akagi injured would still meet with Miu at the pier and she started to show a kind of compassion for Akagi shown by her constant attachment to him. However, Akagi recieved news that he would be moving soon. Crushed Akagi told Miu the news and she relented their decision. On the day of departure Miu gave Akagi a roll of bandages her mother wanted to give him while Akagi was resting after the fight with her father. Departing Miu and Akagi consoled to meet each other when they turned 14 back in Soon Haven at the pier. After the departure, Akagi suffered from severe withdrawals of being away from his friend that resulted in a emotional wall preventing friendships to form.
The Adolescent Years:
Planning on following in the footsteps of his father Akagi had planned on growing to become a merchant himself till on a trip to the Land of Fire a sandstorm struck their caravan. In the madness of the sandstorm shouting rang out along with debris flying in every direction injuring everyone who hunkered down to avoid the storm. Once the storm had passed over all goods were nowhere to be found as if it was ransacked and every member of the caravan present except Akagi's mother who had been spotted staring directly at the face of the storm staggering toward it. From that day on a small scale manhunt for Akagi's mother began and scoured the desert offering no hope until reaching a cabin sandwiched between two canyon walls showed promise. Akagi's and his father asked the owner of the cabin, a older woman who had sun bleached hair and wrinkles all over, if she had seen a young woman pass through shortly after a sandstorm. The woman replied saying that their was one woman travelling with a band of mercenaries that fit their description that was planning on travelling far away to the Village Hidden in the Clouds. That distance put a large hole in both Akagi and Kasa's hearts knowing they couldn't pursue an investigation that far due to their limited funds. Fortunately, however, the old woman said she saw them just a few days prior to Akagi's arrival and they might still be within reach. With that knowledge Akagi and his father travelled as fast as they could on the route the old woman had drawn based on what the mercenaries had spoken to her about. Two days had passed of restless travel, when Akagi came to a swinging bridge with a band of what appeared to be mercenaries about to cross it moving at a sluggish pace. While approaching the band, the clearer they could see the mercenaries appeared to be hauling people like slaves, and in the ranks of those slaves Akagi instantly spotted his mother. Without hesitation Akagi broke out into a sprint dashing toward the bridge. With a quick pull of his collar Akagi was thrown to the ground by his father who placed a finger over Akagi's mouth letting him know to be quiet. Akagi frantically trying to get up and go after his mother was informed by his father that neither of them stood a chance against their force. As he was struggling to get up he glanced past his father to the bridge where the slavers were now cutting the ropes off to prevent anyone from crossing. In the last moment of seeing his mother, Akagi and Aiko made eye contact once last time before a gust of sand blurred their line of sight, followed by a loud cry shrieking through the desert Akagi's name. After returning home from the grueling pursuit Akagi vowed to bring back his mother and become strong enough to fight off anyone who would hurt his loved ones. Along with his return Akagi began to resent his father for not attempting to rescue his mother despite the odds being stacked up against them. This festering resentment would continue to grow as Akagi in memory of his mother bandaged up his left hand and arm, with the bandage Miu gave him, that his mother clung to through his childhood in order to preserve her memory. This all collectively building up to his decision to enroll at the academy.
