"A toast, for how far we've come, how much we have accomplished, and the poor souls inside who have to turn the damn thing on!" said Taro in a jocular manner, big smile on his face laughing. Some of the others laughed along with him, but there were some who were uncomfortable being there.
Hana, the young prodigy, whose life was turned upside down in the past few months, stood next to Gekido whom was having trouble coping with the fact they were up in the air on a ship due to ninjutsu. Taro and Yuna had already started drinking, before the toast was even made. Yuna's crew were having a jolly good time with the break, especially with Hex entertaining them in her own special way. Tomomi and Noboru were in a deep conversation that looking almost meaningful; if you would call stories of Noboru's murders meaningful. Kitami was reading his book in a chair, not really interested in partaking of the festivities. There were a few grunt agents who worked in tandem with these elite that job to hitch a ride, but most of Titan, at least those who were capable of being here were on the ground beneath the levitating ship. This included Masahiro was was giving a speech.
"...and it was due to everyone's hard work that what we are going accomplish today was possible. Because of our efforts together, Project Olympus has come to fruition. Soon our new ships will take to the skies along with our new home. I would like to dedicate this day to all of you; those who made it possible for Titan's ascension to become reality." he finished, the crowd clapping, a couple cheers and woots. He smiled, nodded and stepped down from the speaking platform and over to his personal assistant Hato. "Tell them to turn it on."
Hato nodded his head. With a smile on his face, he picked up a phone with a large antenna attached to it and radio the team inside. "We are ready to begin. Turn the machine on, and good luck in there." he said hanging up the phone. The team inside had all been volunteers surprisingly, Masahiro believed he was going to have to coerce people into taking a position in the most dangerous Titan operation yet. But with the type of work they did, there was a fair share of daredevils amongst the ranks. Those inside all looked at each other with apprehension, and then the team leader put his hand on the power control dial. There were strict instructions from Taro on how to turn it on, and at what intervals to increase the power. "Well here goes nothing." she groaned, slowly turning the dial to 1%, then to 2%. This was to simply get the chakra flowing through all the proper channels and to the numerous different grav-engines throughout the sub surface. The hum of the central chamber was soft, but nothing seemed to have gone wrong. After two minutes, they cranked it up to five percent; that's when things got scary.
The moment the ground started to shake outside, it was accompanied by incredibly loud screeches and moans from the metal structure inlaid within the base of Olympus. So loud in fact that those outside could hear it. The team inside were all covering their ears, though most were temporarily deaf from just the initial blast. The lead was keeping his eyes on the clock next to the dial, making sure not to miss anything else this all could end up in a very large explosion that would vaporize them all. 8%. 12%. 15% 20%. At twenty percent those inside began to feel the gravitational shift starting to occur. Gravity itself began to get non existent around the central machine and the people inside strapped themselves to various objects to remain stable while it began to get more and more destabilized.
After about a half hour, they were at 50% power, and reaching the point Taro believed would be when the chunk of the earth would be separated from itself. The screeches and moans returned when the digital monitor read 57%. Those outside were all at the rails, the edges of their seats, even standing over people to get a look. A massive quake soon followed and the sounds of what appeared to be Raiden's power hitting the earth reverberated through the air. The sound of cracking earth and stone, coupled with the sounds of stressed metal put everyone on edge until suddenly-- it popped free. The mass known as Olympus began to rise, meter by meter into the air, past the horizon. It steadily rose into the air as the power was increased, the changes began to effect it more heavily until those on the Dutchman had to look up to see it. As directed, once it reached 70%, the inside team would radio in, which they did rather loudly. Being somewhat deaf it was hard to tell the volume of their voices.
Masahiro announced their success, and people popped new bottles of champagne to celebrate, but the CEO of Titan did not take part. He knew this was just the beginning of a new era. A peaceful era ushered in by a new kind of control... or rather, lack thereof.
