At first, Kiri wondered if it was alright to travel on his own. He checked at the working schedule of the staff in the hospital and sighed. It wasn’t like he was scared; far from it. He was simply troubled by the fact that he was going to be carrying a large amount of medicine supply to Port Cirrus. From his recent visit to the area, there were some rumours about some pirates who were trying to smuggle things. If they were to hear about these packages, the newly formulated medicines meant for patients in that town would be targeted. That’s probably why they figured someone like him was good enough to do this errand. After all, if he was Osu’s student, he should be combat ready.
He meticulously packed the bags of medicines as organised as he could be within his backpack and securely closed it, fasted, buckled and such. He got the document stamps from the head nurse and the pharmacist before he would then leave Kumogakure for Port Cirrus. Of which, the travel took about a couple of days due to the bad weather. He was glad his cape was rather resilient and it helped keep the backpack dry during the downpour. And by the time he arrived at the town, he was glad to find the sunny sky. He made sure to observe the crowd as he walked into town, taking note if there were any unwanted eyes locking in on him. Losing himself in the crowd, he would blend in, and then he would proceed to delivering.
The first package was the inn keeper, which did not seem out of place as he may have to rent a room for the night. It was an easy delivery and he gave the instruction on proper consumption of the medicine over a hot meal that the latter provided. The next two deliveries were to a florist who seemed to have aggravated his pollen allergies, which was really a pity since he loved tending to his shop and at the moment would have to rely on his wife. But he assured the man that it was only the weather making things worse for him. A mask and a good rest should help and he should be back on the front desk in no time. Another was a baker by the name of Takahashi Ryo. The man was rather bubbly and his two kids, Keisuke and Komari, were busy helping around the shop, though it looked like they were playing with the flour more than helping.
“You have to take better care of yourself, Takahashi-san,” said Kiri as he unloaded the package on the counter. “Though it’s not contagious, it has a chance of worsening, especially if you overwork yourself.”
“Yeah, well, I can’t help it. Doesn’t help that the weather changes like a woman’s mind. Oh, don’t let my wife hear that. Hahaha!” replied the baker as he put the package aside. “But don’t you worry. I do plan to make sure I’m there till my kids grow big and strong. This coughing fit won’t be the end of me.”
“You better.”
Waving goodbye, Kiri was off to the next deliver to the fishermen in town. Come nightfall, he would return to the inn, a bit glad that there was no incident involved and all were seemingly glad that the medicine came in time. The weather was, indeed, playing a big part on everyone’s recovery rate, and the sudden downpours would often get in the way, especially for those that worked outside their houses.
Just as he was about to turn in, there was call for him. It was that kid, Keisuke, and he seemed rather alarmed.
“Help! Mister. Some thugs came and stole Da’s meds!” said the boy and immediately Kiri grew angry. However, he made sure to address the boy as calmly as he could before sending the boy back to their house after getting enough information.
As told by the boy, Kiri would go straight to the docks. With his speed, jumping amongst the roofs made it faster to get there. And as soon as he arrived, he spotted a group of men carrying the same package bag that he used for the medicine. They could have at least tried to hide it but he supposed this made things easier. They were heading towards the end of the harbor to some ship so he had to stop them at all cost.
As he jumped down to the ground, he let lose his chakra as it ran along the shadows of the area. The night was giving him enough to work with and soon enough, the shadows sprung to life, racing towards the thugs and latching at their legs, immobilising them on the spot.
“I don’t appreciate stealing of medicine. People have been waiting for them, especially.” he said as he walked closer to the group. But it would take more than simple threat to keep them away. He knew they’d eventually return if he was gone, so he had to make sure they remember well not to try again. At that instance, he let out his demonic aura, eyes glowing and chakra erupting to shake the group in fear. “I’ll only say this once. If I hear that any of the medicines being brought to this town is being smuggled, even the smallest rumour, all hell will break lose.” He lashed out and send a ripping wave that marked the ground, but easily missing the group. “And trust me, I’m not the only one who’ll come. I’m the strongest either.”
He would eventually return to the Takahashi’s with the medicine package and was treated to some hearty dinner. He also decided to wait in town for a couple more days just to make sure no other incident took place. Though he will have to make a report about it later, he was just glad things settled down before he could finally go back home.
