Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The halls of the Bibliotheca stretched before them, a seemingly endless wealth of knowledge types, handwritten or chakra scribed in an uncountable number of tombs. Here one could learn anything, from how to properly boil an egg to killing a man with a word and a gesture. The romance, adventure or lore inclined cloud resident could find a hundred lifetimes worth of fiction to distract their them from their difficult lives. And deep, in the most restricted of rooms, under chakra enforced lock and key, was knowledge long kept hidden from the populace; works of literary heresy that could have one thrown in deepest prison for parting the pages, tales anathema to the very culture of their land and additives to history deemed unfit for the public eye. A true treasury, all with one simple rule so anyone wishing to read that which was allowed: Be quiet.

Those who had passed the Chuunin Exam part one would be directed to the library the following day for part two of their exam with instructions to find the 'reading room' 16-G, giving those of the higher brass enough time to discuss, argue, throw pottery and otherwise decide the early fate of those they had observed. 'Most' would continue on with the Main Branch selection process, even those certain they that fate and the guiding hand of Kumogakure would soon see them into a new, and in some cases brighter, path. Afterall, you had to pass the very basics to be worthy of the 'greater' branches. Walk before you leapt.

The room would be easily found. The library staff seemed to know who they were and why they were there, giving directions before they were even asked. Years of service to ink and paper and those who loved it made the under direction genin stand out to their eye it seemed. Once there(there was no sign, of course) they would all be directed to take a seat, not by the proctor, but the elegantly written instructions on the board:

All of the above was to be done under the watchful, and seemingly silent Kagetsu Mei had been selected to oversee the next portion of the examination. Like most women of the Kagetsu, she was a flawless model of the modest, attractive Kunoichi that her clan strived to produce. Dressed in fur-trimmed leather and silk that could feed a farm family for a decade, makeup, nails and skin executed in polished detail and hair brushed to the brightest sheen. She exuded an aura of strength and certainty in her skills, a by-product of many hard years of training but, like many of the Kagetsu, her personality or namely her opinion of the fodder dredged from the common folk of Kaminari no Kuni left much to be desired. All of this was easily observed as she frowned, and sneered smugly at each adolescent that entered over the edge of her trashy romance novella, 'The Daimyo's Beloved.'

Kyo had not been in the Bibliotheca Conscientiae in some time, he had done research on various topics in here, as well as spent time learning and helping others to learn Vulgar variant of their language, the time spent here in the Bibliotheca Conscientiae was always quiet and contemplative, with learning being the key motivation for time spent in the grandiose building. The fact that their second portion of their exam was to be held there was interesting, though it immediately gave him an idea of what to expect compared to holding it somewhere else. Or, at the very least meant that they likely would not be performing an exam of a combative nature, instead being something nondestructive. He strolled through its halls until he found the room he was looking for, Reading Room 16-G.

The young nin entered the room, taking a moment to examine it's contents before reading what was written on the board. Then with the twinge of a smile on his face that vanished before it had even finished forming he sat down at one of the desks, claiming it as his own for this part of the exam. He then stood up once more, proceeded to collect the paper from the front desk as instructed taking it back to his own desk and started to fill out the form as instructed. The scarred boy’s own writing was not as elegant as those written on the board, though his hand was sure and moved through the letters quickly as he wrote his answers in. He would keep an eye on the surroundings, watching the proctor who was reading her novel, and any that were entering the room as he wrote, letting his tremor sense expand out and give him a feel for any movement in the area as he concentrated on answering the form to the best of his ability, his writing utensil sliding back and forth over the form.

As the scarred boy finished his form, filling it out completely, leaving no area blank as he had been taught that it was unprofessional to do so, he stood and bowed as had been written on the board, ready to provide the form to the proctor if she singled for him to do so, otherwise he would maintain the bow in such a manner as to keep his surroundings in view best as he could.

After he got the news from his proctor, Kiri that he passed the first part of the Chuunin Exam, Yuu can’t help but feel proud that he managed to make through it with his oral essays despite the pressure and difficulty of the exam. Sure, Yuri’s parasitic abilities that enhanced his knowledge helped him a bit, but he was relieved that he managed to use most of his hard work and dedication as a Genin to help him advance to the next stage of the exam.

Yet, for him, he knew a celebratory congratulations will have to wait. There was still the next part of the exam and he just had to prepare himself for the worst. This time, he has to go to Bibliotheca if he wanted to continue the exam. With that, he informed Yuri about the next phase and left his home to get to the next exam venue. Knowing Yuri, he trusted him to watch his siblings while he’s gone while informing his parents of his current whereabouts. After all, he didn’t want to worry his folks.

While he wasn’t surprised the next part took place in the village’s library, he wondered about the physical portions of the test. Will they include that in the near future? Either way, as he arrived there, he went to 'reading room' 16-G while making sure to stay quiet in the library as per usual.

Upon he entered the room, he noticed the first step of this next part of the Chuunin exam on the blackboard, which he took a few minutes to understand what he will do from here. However, he wasn’t alone as he saw the same scarred boy, Hotako Kyo, from the last part of the exam. From what he can tell, he guessed that he also passed the first part as well. There was also a new proctor for the next part, but he was a little perplexed at the young woman considering that she was just reading some kind of a trashy novel. Well, he can’t judge anyone from their preferences anyway.

Sitting down on the desk not far from Kyo, Yuu read through the form given to him and by the look of it, it seemed to be a questionnaire regarding about his experiences as an Academy Student and Genin life. And while this was a written exam, he was a little worried that his handwriting might not be up to par with Kyo’s, but it was not that bad to even considered as a bad penmanship. In fact, he took a while writing down the form while remembering his experiences that he did so far as a Genin for past 3 years now.

In his honesty, he was a little confident about his answers, but he did make sure to fill everything especially the sections that didn’t apply to him. He even wondered if Yuri already knew everything about him during his time in his head for a while. Then as per the instructions on the blackboard, Yuu bowed and prepared himself to give the form back to the proctor when she approached him. Until then, he waited for other examinees to arrive, wondering who managed to pass the first part of the Chuunin Exam.

Honnou realized that the second part of the Chuunin Exam was coming soon. It was inevitable due to the signs that had showed themselves in front of him, so despite the small pause, he was ready to dive at it again. This time, he was more than eager to find out what he should do to deem himself worthy of the title Chuunin; the writing part was done, so the branches might have an idea of each candidate’s calligraphic and philosophical level. What affinity was to be tested today? Would it be more physical? Honnou wasn’t exactly the brute among his 101 companions, but… strength wasn’t everything. If it was to be about combat - he had a feeling that they would test their combat abilities sooner or later - then he was also quite anxious about how he would perform the best. And like that, he kept thinking and thinking under his way to the Bibliotheca.

Okay… he didn’t know of his destination until he met at the place where the navigators would lead him. The Bibliotheca… it screamed books to him, and it held a deep meaning to him, especially since a part of his name could be translated to ‘book’. However… he couldn’t but give a grin by the very thought of them going through the writings again, but he had barely started part two yet, so he shook his head and walked in with an empty, objective mind that he set upon himself. That way, he could react according to all situations… or so he thought.

He was sent by the librarians to the reading room named 16-G, and he entered around the same time as Yuu. It was a luck that he got to read the paper on the board before greeting, because no speaking was allowed. He was to find a seat, collect a paper from the front desk and fill out a form. Maybe this was a type of portrait, but he did as the paper asked him, took a seat almost soundlessly, then started filling all the blank spaces out:

What is/was your relationship like? He is very dedicated to make me a fine shinobi through his strict and reasonable upbringing/training. I’ve clearly felt the fruition of all those years, in which we dearly love and trust each other like a father and son should.

What is/was your relationship like?
With a disciplined father who seeks to bring out the best in me through all kinds of, mostly, physical training, my mum is softer. She values the strength of my mind over my combat prowess, and given that I think quite like she thinks, we get along much better than I do with my father - and that’s a lot to say given what I just wrote about him. We’re like the dynamic duo at times, and I always feel at ease when she’s around to keep my father in check.

_____ Unhappy Childhood _____ Family Problems _____ School Problems _____ Emotional/Behavioral Problems _____ Alcohol Abuse _____ Drug Abuse __X__ Medical Problems _____ Legal Problems _____ Physical Abuse _____ Emotional Abuse _____ Other _________

How did your parents/guardian discipline you?
With enthusiasm, at most, and always with the goal to make me a highly disciplined and calm-minded shinobi. I can’t say that they were ‘that’ strict, though, but that’s for me to find out why…

If a stepparent helped in raising you, how did you get along with the stepparent?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Would you consider your home life to be happy?
Well, yes. Despite their high hopes for me, I see their ‘Tiger Parents’ acting as more than sufficient to develop me.

Is there any significant life event that happened in your childhood or adolescence pertaining to family that has not been addressed by this questionnaire so far?
No.

Part 2: A)

Were you a CPSS(Chakra potential screening service) candidate? No

Were you housed in the academy dormitories during academy studies? No

If yes, what was your experience like? No

Would you consider yourself traumatised by this? Y/N No

What did you excel at? Taijutsu

What were your most difficult subjects? Genjutsu

Since becoming Genin, what have you done to overcome your shortcomings?
They say that experiencing the world would change me… I’ve been taking several missions that would lead me to various hotspots of the Land of Lightning in order to test myself and, with hope, to overcome any weak spots that I may still possess to this day.

Please detail any disciplinary actions/punishments you may have received?
I was caught by Yuii-sama during our trip to Tea Country - mind you, I was innocent - and forced to do a lot of homework for some fireworks and banners that were launched near the shore from the ship itself. Dangerous, sparkly, not my fault...

Rate your overall satisfaction with the academy.
It’s been a rather short time in the academy, but I regret not any second that I was there. It was my first place and center of knowledge on how to become a shinobi, and I always found myself amazed by the results of those lessons when I look at myself today. Although, I have a long way to go, still…

Please give a brief detailing of some of the significant missions you have completed:
I remember having helped an old lady frequently until now. Why is that significant, you may ask? Well, being a great help to the people of Kumo is significant to me - that is equal to serving the village as well. The same counts with assisting Kumo Fried Chicken, scaring away an adult gang who were forcing money out of a little boy etc.

The fact that Minako even passed was shocking as all hell. She experienced a lot of issues and a few problems with her temper when it came to the day before. Needless to say, her family were rather proud of her and they looked forward to her getting through the next part of the exam. Needless to say… that wouldn’t be so easy…

Arriving in the reading room, like she was directed to. She entered the room and saw the board with the instructions, they were simple, clear and very easy to read… she was to sit down, and then collect paper from the… waiiiit. Shouldn’t it be collect paper from the front desk THEN sit down? The proctor must have been inflicted with some confusion because you just can’t sit down and then grab the paper, unless you had some elastic arms like a certain pirate who ate a fruit to gain it.

“Gosh...” Minako mumbled ever so quietly before she collected the paper from the front desk and then sat down, according to the instructions, she wasn’t allowed to speak either, and to tell the people that she was done… she simply had to bow. Well, this was going to be simple… until she read it.

“Oh my fucking god.” Minako said in her head. “How the fuck am I going to answer some of these…??”

While filling it out… she saw one particular section, and it triggered her so hard that her face spelt pure anger in her head… and then she just wrote the answers quickly, not thinking of anything else until that section was done. Finally, she wrote in the other sections just fine, and bowed when finished.

Another day, another test it seemed. I was getting really worried that this is what being a Chunin was going to amount to. Being good at taking written tests, demonstrating book knowledge and testing patience. I had arrived in the room and noted that at least this time instead of Kiri, there was a bit of eye candy to refresh my view every once in a while. Her sneer was probably meant to scare each of the students off, but it only served to light a fire in my gut. I always did have a soft spot for venomous women, at least they could keep up on wordplay and snipes. Either way, the menacing glare on the beautiful woman's face only put a smile on my face as I nodded my head and grabbed a piece of paper as I got to work. I didn't need to say anything

I found most of the survey to be pretty mundane, but a good chunk of it went off on tangents that were better left alone. When it got down to the medical stuff, I started to question exactly why they wanted such personal info. Even then, couldn't they get most of this info from the hospital themselves if it was important? Was it there so they would know what we were willing to conceal about ourselves? This whole thing seemed off. I endured none the less, only really stopping when I was done as I went over it once more to see if I wanted to change anything. When nothing seemed off. I put down my pen before standing and nodding towards the current proctor to inform her I was done before taking my seat and waiting for everyone else to be done with their portion.

It wasn’t too long after their initial exam that Suika was granted invitation to its second part. Fashioning herself in her typical shinobi gear and tying loosely around her neck her headband, she casually dashed off toward the village’s library. Oddly enough, the kunoichi was relaxed as she made her way to her second test. The first portion of her exam went remarkably well, so she wasn’t too worried about what would follow. She would give it her best shot.

As she entered alongside a string of other examinees she recognized, she followed the instructions given on the board and immediately went to work on the survey presented. Suika ignored the glaring looks of the lady, maybe librarian, that proctored over them. After all, she was focused on the goal within her immediate sights: to attain Chuunin rank. Eyeing the survey over, she almost emitted a sigh. It appeared simple enough, yet a bit redundant. She filled it out and, as soon as she finished, bowed as directed to indicate her completion of the document.

What was to follow? At this point, she didn’t know what to expect from their examiner or the probable observations of the village’s elite. What was their angle with this task? She would soon find out.

When Kiri showed up to deliver his scroll of acceptance Arata wasn't necessarily surprised. He expected to at least be able to move on to the next round. He was excited sure, though he was confident that he was qualified. However now Arata had to focus on the second part which was to be held in the library. That meant he wouldn't be doing any combat, at least that's what he assumed since it was indeed a library. He had been there quite a few times and recently as well. Arata frequented the place so he could study and improve himself. This time Arata was going so he could further himself. As he made his way through the library he didn't pay attention to the directions others gave him as he was already quite familiar with the library. Eventually he made his way in and saw everybody else that was there, meaning they passed and were going to enter the main branch.

Looking at the instructions on the board Arata followed them just as everybody else did. He took a paper and seated himself before getting to work. As he filled out the form he didn't necessarily struggle with it. It was simple since it was about him. Not long after he started he stood up like instructed and gave a bow to signal that he was indeed finished with his form. He then seated himself once more and looked around. The Uchiha was only left to wonder what's next?

How did your parents/guardian discipline you?
My parents both had their ways of discipline. My father fought me, personally I found it as a way of training however it wasn’t my ideal kind of training as I was at a much younger age since the last time I had any sort of disciplinary actions against me. My father was much stronger than me so I got tossed around a lot. However at the same time we talked, he figured he would beat what he was saying into me so I’d get the message. It worked, if anything I learned better that way.

My mother was different, she was disturbingly calm about how she went about it, a mere stern talking to. It did the trick. I have not had any discipline recently as I am of the age where I should be able to behave properly, again, should.
If a stepparent helped in raising you, how did you get along with the stepparent?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Would you consider your home life to be happy?
I would, I have a good home life. Caring mother and father as well as a younger brother that looks up to me. There is nothing wrong with my home life.

Is there any significant life event that happened in your childhood or adolescence pertaining to family that has not been addressed by this questionnaire so far?
No.

No.

No
If yes, what was your experience like?

Would you consider yourself traumatised by this? Y/N

What did you excel at? Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu

What were your most difficult subjects? Teamwork, I dislike taking orders by the letter.

Since becoming Genin, what have you done to overcome your shortcomings?
Constant training to improve not just the body but the mind as well. Being well rounded is important for a shinobi so they can adapt to any situation.
Please detail any disciplinary actions/punishments you may have received?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Rate your overall satisfaction with the academy.
If I were to give it a proper rating it would be a 7/10. I feel it could do more to help students more one on one since everybody has their own specific skill sets. However they don’t need to hold a student’s hand, the student needs to figure things out themselves as well.

Part 2: B)

If applicable: Sensei(*if they taught you multiple times or you had a team formed):
Name: Tsuyoshi Junko
If alive, give their present age: Unknown to me
Shinobi Rank: Medical Sennin
Health: Healthy
What is/was your relationship like? (If deceased, detail cause)
It’s complicated, he has taught me many things and he has my respect. I accept the fact he is formidable, if not the strongest person I’ve ever met with the exception of my father. However this has fueled me to want to defeat him and so somebody I will, not today, but somebody I will defeat Tsuyoshi Junko.

If applicable:Teammates(*recurring in training or missions):
Number of: 2
Names: Funoi Ikko, Fujiwara Minako
Relationship(If deceased, detail cause):
We have a relationship that I’d describe as still forming. At least for my part I don’t know too much about them personally. Though perhaps this is my fault for not trying to be more engaging. Ikko seems to be a klutz and Minako seems a bit hard to approach. However I’m sure over time this relationship will grow.

Please give a brief detailing of the training you have received:
I have received mainly one on one training from Junko. He has taught me a plethora of jutsu, versatility in combat. He has helped me become a more versatile shinobi and a better person. His training consists of him beating me down physically until I learn. That basically sums it up.

Please give a brief detailing of some of the significant missions you have completed:
We merely completed low ranking missions together. Nothing significant or too challenging. The most challenging thing would be training from sensei. The missions were simple and frankly could have been completed solo.

Have you failed a mission? No
If Yes, why?:

Rate your overall satisfaction as a Genin:
My time as a Genin was well spent. I learned a lot about myself and improved my weaknesses. I grew as a person and as a shinobi. Overall I’d rate the experience a 7/10. I feel it wasn’t a struggle to progress as a Genin, everything was handed to me. I didn’t necessarily need to reach out and grab something for myself.

Mei watched with the small ground of would-be Chuunin from the corner of her eye, seemingly absorbed in her book but far more interested in the children before her. Her smugness amplified as she watched them scribble; as if every letter they wrote was amusing to her. Any of the test-takers who dared to glance up would find her eyes set on them in a steady stare.

As the last head bowed before her, the dark-haired woman arched a single, come hither finger in the direction of the young genin. Their evaluations formed would shudder, shake, then in a lightning-fast flurry of motion snap across the room to land in a perfect pile by her side. There they stayed as she slid out of her chair and in measured, loud clicks of her heeled shoes, walked to the instruction board.

The sleeve of her coat was rolled back, and 'Part Two' she wrote in perfect cursive, marker squeaking eerily in the silenced room, before erasing the first two of the previous steps and the last with a small brush. All that remained:

_____________________________
| Part Two
|
|
|
| Fill out the form.
|
| No speaking.
|
|
|_____________________________

And, at that very moment, another set of papers would move from the desk and settle themselves in front of the test-takers and the direction of their proctor. Mei would then return to her seat and pick up not her novel, but the evaluations that the group had just completed. the next stretch of their examination would be to the backdrop of her snobby outbreaks of giggling, tutting, and gasps of feigned shock.

Exam:
Question Series 1: Wanted

You are a Chuunin given a team of three Genin to lead (found in the first spoiler) on a C-rank mission to ascertain the whereabouts of a missing academy student in the ancient forest. The Dossier given to you is as follows:

Name: :Otani Ryoko
Age: 10
Notes: This child is a known user of sound jutsu through vocal means, but has little training. Little is understood as to why Ryoko has run into the forest, but he is presumed to be a runaway. Ryoko leaves behind two known friends in the dormitories and a third in the village proper, all of whom claim to have no notion of why their friend ran or what their destination may be. His family is known to be a clan of craftsmen in Raiden’s Eye, and have experienced no sudden change of status in the past year.

Your mission is to find him at all costs using the team that has been assigned to your leadership.
  1. Immediately following your mission briefing, what is your first action as a leader to your group. Do you split up tasks between each member, or set them on a common goal? Do you gather more information, backtrack over intel’s information or start immediate pursuit?
  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team?
  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any?
  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take?
  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do?

Question Series 2: Expedition

You’ve entered the Spine of the world mountains during the summer on a two-day monster hunting expedition contracted by the local Daimyo to take down a B-ranked threat to a local village. The creature has killed and eaten a dozen livestock, even entering village areas to steal its food. Most recently, a child has gone missing from the edge of the village where large beast tracks have been found, leading authorities to believe he has been taken by the beast.

Your mission is to investigate the village for information, then hunt, trap and kill the creature using the team that has been assigned to your leadership.
  1. Villagers are not forthright with information about the creature and the child’s disappearance.as they are fearful of you, shinobi. They claim that they will hunt the creature instead, and demand you leave. How do you, as mission leader, handle this situation?
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. Its tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however, they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take?
  3. Your team finds the creature, however, it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do?
  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however, several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan?

Question Series 3: Intel gathering

There have been rumours in the south of an attack on the newly developed rail line between Lightning and Fire country by radical nationalists from port Cirrus. Unfortunately, many of the members of this group have high ranked connections within the military and nobility of Kumogakure, leaving the village of Kumogakure unable to openly confront the group without proof.

Preliminary information gathered by spies points to an old library as the place of meeting for the group They are known to be untrusting and isolated,

and find out the information that Kumogakure needs without upsetting the group.

You are put in charge of a three-man team with the goal of finding out the information you need. For the purposes of this exercise, you may choose any of the ten options given to you above. Please state clearly which three ‘genin’ you have picked.
  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission?
  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information?
  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission?
  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get?
  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyway? Why?
  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather?
  7. Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely?

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?:

Part 2:
  1. Do you feel it was fair that your team was formed for you in the first two missions? Do you think the third was easier because you could choose your group?
  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it?
  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation?
  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do?
  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do?
  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be the priority?

When complete, please stand and do your best impression of an eagle and an action pose.

Kyo watched the instructor and the others silently, simply following them with his eyes and letting his tremor sense bring him the information about what was going on in the room that he couldn't see. He took note of who had attended the second portion, wondering if the others that had not appeared for the second portion had simply moved off and into Medical and their own training or if they had failed to pass the first portion of the exam. It seemed that three of them were missing, he took note of the two females and the one male that was missing, he would check to see what had become of them when he was finished with the test.

The scarred boy turned his focus to the next portion of this part of the exam, it seemed to be more questions, and though he felt this time it was more directly relevant to what their expected duties were to be in the future. He went over those that he had assigned to him for the first to sections, an Earthborn, one with Demonic Ancestry, "I'd be wary of that one and her actions throughout the entirety of my work with her. The wars were not long ago after all." and lastly a Yamanaka. They all appeared unexceptional in their capabilities, something to keep in mind, as was the fact that they all were equipped with a headset, which thankfully would make communication easier.

As he decided on a course of action and appropriate answers to the questions his hand began to move, steadily to record it for those that would judge his answers. He was sure of the answers he was making, though he did ponder if he would be judge harshly for not being as caring as he saw others tended to be. Regardless, it wouldn’t sway his answer, as it was the correct response in each situation.

Do you gather more information, backtrack over intel’s information or start immediate pursuit?: I order the team to check in every five minutes that they are out of contact with me, regardless of their current situation unless it would result in death or failure of the mission. The three of them will be given a section of the forest to canvass, while I work another area and coordinate their movements. We will move out and perform the mission immediately, trusting in the information provided to us until we have a reason not to.
  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team? Tao is instructed to disable the target utilizing Genjutsu if they believe it will perform as thought, they will also connect a sensory link to me at all times that they are capable of doing so, with out risking their own well begin so that we may communicate silently. If needed Yei will utilize Mind Ripper on the subject. Han is to utilize barriers to trap the the subject if need be and upon approach he should be moving underground to keep his position hidden.
  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any? Do not engage the target alone, wait until there are two of you together, do not run off on your own, if you get into trouble utilize your headset to contact the team. In an emergency, utilize a flare or type of jutsu that will allow others to find the location quickly. Watch for Dire Squirrels and other fauna, the forest is dangerous to those not strong enough to deal with it.
  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take? Detain unharmed if possible, otherwise knock him unconscious. We will utilize code names and code words to ensure our communications are true due to the child being able to utilize sound jutsu well. Improper use of the code names or words is grounds for sub-dual until identification can be determined.
  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do? Refuse. Students are not allowed to flee simply because they wish to.
They will be brought back, and instructed to fill out the proper forms and requests to see if the academy will allow him to leave or visit his family. If he tries to run with the help of the team member, they will both be disabled and returned. I will speak to the team member on why what they were doing was wrong, I will also put it in the report.

Ignore their demand, they are not the one who contracted the mission. As they refuse to provide information, we will attempt to extract it from the three determined to be most liklely to hold it utilizing genjutsu and other Yamanaka techniques.
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. Its tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however, they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take? Keep in contact over the headsets every five minutes, team is to stay within eye sight other than Han who is to stay under ground as they travel, do not engage the creature on your own, be watchful for villagers who may be trying to hunt the creature as well. On contact, barriers from Han are to be raised and Tao and Yei are to work together to attempt to trap the beast in Genjutsu. I'll monitor and interfere if they seem unable to deal with it working together.
  3. Your team finds the creature, however, it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do? Utilization of Mystical Hand and Coagulation to treat the wound on site. Position of wounded teammate if incapable of continuing mission in a safe location, with call signs and code words to wait until we finish the mission and come back, or for two days, whichever passes first. They are to then return to the nearest village as we push on. Otherwise they will simply follow along, taking care not to worsen their injury and staying out of any combat taking up a rear guard position.
  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however, several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan? Han is to utilize Inner Earth Reflection Lure, Rock Golem and Mud Clone to assist the combat but stay out of direct contact, Tao is to assist me in a back up manner in attacking the beast with genjutsu and only as a last resort taijutsu, I will utilize my Bloodline abilities and taijutsu to deal with it to the best of my abilities while creating openings for Tao and Han.

You are put in charge of a three-man team with the goal of finding out the information you need. For the purposes of this exercise, you may choose any of the ten options given to you above. Please state clearly which three ‘genin’ you have picked.
  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission? I shall maintain my Team of Han, Yei and Tao. We shall gather supplies for survival in the wilderness for an extended period of time covering at least three months.
  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information? I shall attempt to do so myself, while the others will attempt to shadow others outside of their location. They are not to engage and if discovered are to flee.
  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission? Communication while following members is to be done through the Sensor Link Tao is capable of. Closer movement to the targets is to be done by Han if needed. At all times they are to maintain the appearance of simple travelers and never to appear in the true form while working on the mission.
  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get? I will attempt to infiltrate the group personally, my team members are to avoid all contact if possible.
  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyway? Why? Depends on information gathered up to this point, with no additional information, yes, unless doing so would expose myself or my team. The body would be eliminated. Due to the decreased risk of the group due to issues missing leadership may bring, as well as being able to damage the group.
  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather? Snapshots of documentation, meetings, personal supporting them, location of caches and others items that may prove of interest.</B>
[*]<B>Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely? My team should be able to pack up and leave at a moments notice. Simply running, avoiding the roads and heading towards the nearest safe house or personal capable of defending the team if need be.

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?: The third mission.

Part 2:
  1. Do you feel it was fair that your team was formed for you in the first two missions? Do you think the third was easier because you could choose your group? Yes. No.
  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it? Detain and report them after attempting to acquire information and reasoning as to why.
  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation? Start with speaking to the, then move on to group punishments to make them work together against a commonly disliked entity, namely myself.
  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do? Report the information to base, request that reinforcements more capable of attempting the mission take it over. Suggest due to the untrustworthy nature of the employer, that they are black-listed or otherwise dealt with.
  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do? Report them if this does not result in mission failure or danger to fellow teammates, retrain them in academy classes and physical discipline them.
  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be the priority? If mission is capable of being completed by my team, then mission takes priority, if there is no chance of my team completing my mission, and the mission was not listed as succeed or death, then my team.

With Kyo having finished his writing, he stood as instructed and performed his best impression of an eagle. He would then start a kick to midriff and hold it. While he knew the instructions were for no real reason than the proctor’s enjoyment, he would follow them to the best of his ability, they were orders after all.

Okay... the Hyuuga boy could see the pattern. Or could he? It was rather generic, they were suddenly tasked to fill out another paper. If he didn't know Eishi better, then he'd say that the scary-looking dude would throw fire at any time. However, he was ready. He reminded himself that he was capable of going through this, perhaps, a couple times, and thus he began filling out the paper once more:

Your mission is to find him at all costs using the team that has been assigned to your leadership.

1. An immediate pursuit would be to prefer in a situation like this one. Given that no change has been noted by any of his relatives, we wouldn’t be able to track down any signs that could help us locate his destination. As the Chuunin, a group of four people is ideal, but because that we have two Byakugan users on that team - me and Jin, if we assume that Jin has mastered his Visual Prowess - then splitting up in two teams would sound like a good idea as well. It would help us cover larger areas with our search for the lost Otani in a much faster rate. I’d say that we would benefit from splitting up in two groups, each with the goal to track down and find the boy. Jin and Koi are to team up, and I and Miho will team up, because mine and Jin’s visual prowess will certainly prove handy in searching for people over large areas.
2. As I mentioned earlier, I and Jin would rely a lot on our Visual Prowess, but that wouldn’t be the only skill that helps with tracking down people. Koi is a member of the Inuzuka clan, and together with her dog, I’d expect her to have just a good a sense of smell as our sense of sight. By finding the tracks, she could guide our fields of vision towards the direction where the tracks’ smells are strongest. That way, me and Jin could focus more towards one point.
3. Don’t split up until I have said otherwise. The Ancient Forest isn’t a totally safe place, and it’s obviously safest when we’re all together in a group. Groups always tend to scare away beasts… or most of the time. It is, certainly, safer than being on your own. Also, our sole objective is to find Otani, so any other irrelevant obstacles or distraction must be ignored during the long run.
4. Stay at a distance. If the student is intending to assault, then he will most likely use his Sound Jutsu through his vocal tools. Therefore, getting too close to a ticking bomb would be idiotic. I say that we’ll address him directly at a good distance, telling him that his friends and family are missing him and that he needs to go back home. We don’t know any of his intentions or reasons to have run away, but if he is willing to inform us something through this means, then it’ll probably benefit our knowledge about the situation.
5. Uh, the student should know that he should follow the orders of his upperclassmen when they want him to return safely, so asking to go home alone in these circumstances would be suspicious. I’d remind my teammate about that fact, and that it wouldn’t change anything if the boy truly wanted to go home with us or without us. Why object to go home with us if it wouldn’t matter?

Question Series 2: Expedition

The creature has killed and eaten a dozen livestock, even entering village areas to steal its food. Your mission is to investigate the village for information, then hunt, trap and kill the creature using the team that has been assigned to your leadership.
1. As mission leader, I’d be pretty displeased with this idea; we’re talking about a young kid’s life that might be in danger out there, and they’re letting their fear of shinobis get stuck in their throats? Although, fear is reasonable given our potential to both good and bad, so I’d first get things clear with the villagers about this. I’d try to convince them that we won’t stand back when someone’s in danger - it’s just unnatural. Certainly, the villagers - especially the prominent among them - would understand that?
2. The beast shouldn’t be taken lightly. The mere fact that the beast steals food from the villagers so easily signals a certain level of intelligence, and the beast may even be trying to lure the group into a trap. Therefore, two of the team’s members must follow the tracks and lead the others, while the two last get the order to watch over them. Just in case if the beast decides to strike down out of nowhere…
3. Assuming that the beast isn’t dealt with by then, the team’s first objective is to find a safe place for the injured member… Imagining such a situation is difficult, and thus preparations will always come in handy. It’d be stupid to go out on a monster hunt without bandages or medicines to treat injuries from the mighty beasts. Luckily, that is what Jin has in possession in form of a medkit, and it will prove lifesaving. They are to be treated until they can tag along, because leaving one with the injured teammate can risk a lot given that most beasts can smell the blood from afar. In such a situation where a monster has found our location, it is foolish to be low in number.
4. It will be a dire situation, but to ensure a successful return and a successful mission, the beast must be taken down as fast as possible. With large boulders covering our view at the beast, Jin can use his Earth Jutsus to cause the rocks above the creature to shatter and rain upon it. That would sound most effective and the fastest way to take it out without having to jump into battle and risk another injury.

Question Series 3: Intel gathering
There have been rumours in the south of an attack on the newly developed rail line between Lightning and Fire country by radical nationalists from port Cirrus. You are put in charge of a three-man team with the goal of finding out the information you need. For the purposes of this exercise, you may choose any of the ten options given to you above. Please state clearly which three ‘genin’ you have picked.
1. I will most likely choose the same group (Jin, Koi and Miho) due to having more experience with them. Their combined affinities with Gen and sensual clairvoyance will most likely prove for the best. Jin and Koi may succeed me and Miho in sensual field of vision through their Bloodlines, so they will keep an eye from the outside and stay ready to warn us two with their Headsets.
2. Me and Miho are to try and get close to them. Her Kinetic Gen can get us away if we’re found out, and at the same time leave some serious confusion among the group for a brief moment if deemed necessary to. The leaders may be extremely suspicious of our mere presence given our arrival and all. We must take our upmost caution in this case.
3. As I mentioned earlier, Jin and Koi excel in sensory with Jin’s Byakugan and Koi’s sharp nose. They can keep an eye for me and Miho over a large radius if working together. If the leaders grow hostile towards us, I can make sure that Miho stays safe as these guys are to be reckoned with among a Chuunin. Miho’s Genjutsu can aid me well as sharpness and accuracy is my thing, and it’ll only be easier to eliminate the threats if they aren’t focusing.
4. With this strategy, I believe that we can infiltrate them thoroughly.
5. If this’ll ring the alarm and leave me and Miho in further danger, then no, it will not be a good opportunity to kill a leader of the group. We’re trying to find a way to attack the group as a village, so a kill on a leader would be irrelevant if we succeed.
6. Other meeting locations, future targets for them to attack, any clients that aid them from the outside as well as evidence in form of DNA samples.
7. The team should be able to leave soundless and without causing even the slightest notice from the leaders. Finding the nearest hiding place and regathering the group once again will be first priority at that point.

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?: The second mission would suit me best.

Part 2:
1. Yes & No.
2. I’d try to gain information and find out why they suddenly want to leave Kumogakure like that, and hopefully change their minds. If that won’t be the case, then I’ll keep them back even if I have to report them to the higherups.
3. I’d try and remind them that if those two, specifically, work together, then they can take on even me. It’ll likely grow confidence and calm within their hearts, even if that’ll take a while to saw, and it’ll start a good combo between those two.
4. Request for more suited entities to execute the mission as well as deal with the employer for their mistake with the danger of the mission that could cost lives.
5. Severely exhaust them through strict discipline and perhaps retract their permission to go on missions if their behavior won’t change. Obviously, wise words must be included as many of these types of students are ignorant and need things to stand clear to them.
6. It depends if the mission seems capable of being completed by us. If yes, then we’ll take responsibility for ourselves and prioritize the mission, but if not, then the team’s safety and ensuring ourselves living to the next day that we’ll serve the village will take first priority.

After finishing it, he'd sweat for a second, then try his best to resemble whatever an eagle was supposed to look like; a long beak, sharp eyes, elegant head and an uplifted chest... yeah, that should be about it.

After giving his form to the proctor, he then read the next set of instructions onto the blackboard. Though much to his surprise, it was the same instruction as before, although he was given a different form this time. Yuu stared at the woman in confusion, yet he might guess that this might be the written part of the exam. He was okay with this part of the exam so far, but he didn't want to relax a bit. This was the Chuunin exam and he can't rest easy just yet. And true with his thoughts, his eyes widened as he turned a set of papers and saw the questions.

From what he read by its contents, it dealt with teams and simulations of missions with some imaginary shinobi given to him. He was okay with strategies and plans, but just reading the questions overwhelmed him a little bit. He was sweating a bit, but it wasn't enough to make him panic. The exam managed to push his skills as a Genin so far and he can't afford any slip-ups. With a pencil in hand, he spent a few minutes thinking up some solutions and write it in the blanks.

  1. Immediately following your mission briefing, what is your first action as leader to your group. Do you split up tasks between each member, or set them on a common goal? Do you gather more information, backtrack over intel’s information or start immediate pursuit? To help us track the missing academy student, I decided to split us up into two groups to give us more ground for us to cover. With that, I let Haru and Tao gather more information about Ryoko and his whereabouts before his disappearance while Han and I backtrack over the information to go over the missing student’s motives and actions. If necessary, I also let one group join up with us in case they found a clue to Ryoko’s whereabouts.
  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team? Since Tao is from the Yamanaka clan, I let him use his sensory link abilities on us to give us more communication skills. Then, I let Haru use Spirit Lantern jutsu to shine some of the dark paths of the forest to cover more ground, not to mention using his Water Ninjutsu in case of a fire or something to wash. As for Han, his abilities as an Earthborn is perfect for creating traps as well as barriers in case of an attack.
  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any? In case of Genjutsu attack, I let Tao be in charge of it because of her Genjutsu and mind skills and abilities as a Yamanaka. And since the Ancient Forest is known to be a dangerous area to traverse in, splitting up is not an option for us. Because losing one of us will be disastrous for our team and this mission. Another thing is that distractions are also a big detriment to our objective, especially with any random attacks. So my other orders are to run away from a fight that isn’t important to our mission.
  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take? I let Tao and Haru tend to Ryoko’s injuries while Han defends us until he’s recovered. I also used my Elemental Clones to make sure there are no ambushes and I will try to encourage the student to mentally cure him of his distraught.
  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do? It might be a bad idea for the student to go home alone, not to mention it may be suspicious about his intentions. So I have to refuse the student’s request until we sort this mess out.

  1. Villagers are not forthright with information about the creature and the child’s disappearance.as they are fearful of you, shinobi. They claim that they will hunt the creature instead, and demand you leave. How do you, as mission leader, handle this situation? Trying to hunt the creature without any information might not be an ideal move, so I have to appeal to the villagers and convince them that they will help them hunt the creature and find the child back to safety if they can cooperate.
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. It’s tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take? Han will take care of defense against ambushes, Tao will use her sensory links for communication as well in the frontlines with me due to her Taijutsu skills, and Haru will take care of ranged attacks.
  3. Your team finds the creature, however it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do? I let Haru use his Water Ninjutsu to clean the wound while Han uses his Medical Ninjutsu to take care of the wound. However, this is just a temporary remedy, so I ordered Tao to stay in the backline to limit her movement that would open up her wounds once more.
  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan? Because of Tao’s injury, we have to hide her behind a boulder so she can use her sensory link to give us support such as warning us of an incoming attack. As for the plan, I let Han attack the monster with his Water Ninjutsu while Han used his Earth Ninjutsu and some Non-Elemental Ninjutsu such as Body Switch to distract and trap the monster to prevent its escape. Thanks to Han’s Water Ninjutsu, I can able to attack the monster with my Lightning Ninjutsu with Tao’s navigation and support in an attempt to end its life.

Preliminary information gathered by spies points to an old library as the place of meeting for the group. They are known to be untrusting and isolated, and find out the information that Kumogakure needs without upsetting the group.

You are put in charge of a three man team with the goal of finding out the information you need. For the purposes of this exercise, you may choose any of the ten options given to you above. Please state clearly which three ‘genin’ you have picked.
  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission? I choose Tao, Haru, and Ri for this mission. And to prepare for the mission, we have to stock up on some supplies such as first-aid kits and some extra shurikens and kunais in case of emergencies.
  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information? I decided that Haru and I will shadow the group while Tao and Ri will try to support us in the back with orders of not engaging them until I say so.
  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission? With Tao’s Yamanaka abilities, we can use her sensory link to communicate to avoid being caught by the group. Even with our headsets, there is still a chance we may caught using them. As for Haru, his Water Ninjutsu is very useful not only with my Lightning Ninjutsu, but using his Medical Ninjutsu alongside Tao’s. As for Ri’s, her Audial Genjutsu and her Wind Ninjutsu give us many ways to cover our presence during our pursuit.
  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get? As close as we can get personally. I can’t tell if they have any shinobi in the group, but it is best if we lay low and prevent any accidental confrontation out of desperation.
  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders, but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyways? Why? Unless the situation turned sour, I decided to wait for the higher-ups’ commands because we might lose a chance to get more information if I just killed him quickly.
  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather? Any evidences related to their crimes as well gathering photos and files from the group’s headquarters
  7. Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely? Fighting them would not help in our mission, so escaping without any noise and staying into the shadows is our way to leave the area and make sure to hide in an alley or a building to prevent any pursuers. In case we get caught, we use Ri’s Audial Genjutsu and Haru’s Pressurized Mist jutsu as well with my Visual Genjutsu to make a small distraction.

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?: I feel the second mission is the best one that shows my skills as a leader.

Part 2:
  1. Do you feel it was fair that your team was formed for you in the first two missions? Do you think the third was easier because you could choose your group? While the third mission is very easy, the first two missions is very fair because it actually helps me challenge how I adapt my skills to help with my chosen teammates as well helping them in return. The main point of this is to connect with them as well figure out their strengths and weaknesses in a span of two missions to create a balanced strategy and adapt their abilities to mine.
  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it? I would confront them and try to convince them to go against their decision to leave. I will also try to use force in case they are stubborn with their decision.
  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation? Confront the teammates and try to discuss about their relationship to get into the crux of this issue. In case they still won’t cooperate each other, I will give them some time away from each other until they calm down and continue the mission.
  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do? I report them back to the higher-ups about this misinformation and request them to replace us with a more suitable shinobi. A true shinobi is to know whether to back out a mission that may risk our lives for it.
  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do? I confront them and give a convincing argument regarding my decision of our next actions. I will not be lenient of them as I feel there are times I have to put my foot down regarding their attitude against my orders.
  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be priority? If the mission has no risks, then I prefer our goals. But when it comes to any dangerous missions, my team’s well-being comes first no matter what.

When complete, please stand and do your best impression of an eagle and an action pose.

A few minutes had passed and Yuu sighed in relief as he put his pencil down. He was done with the form, but a question ran through his mind.

"Do I really need to do that stupid pose?"

He would try to ignore it, but this was the exam. He can't afford to fail just by not following that ridiculous order. As he went up from his seat, he stood with leg up and did his best impression of an eagle. While it gave a sign to the proctor that he finished his form, he prayed that there are no cameras or any jutsu that may catch him doing this ridiculous jutsu.

Suika awaited the next portion of the exam. It wasn’t long until the proctor expertly collected their surveys and handed them new sheets. As her eyes scanned the contents of what she was given, she grew an incredulous expression as a small bead of sweat fell from her brow. “Eagle pose, really?” Nonetheless, this was an exam, so she did her best to abide by every instruction. First things first, she focused herself on the template before her. The kunoichi filled it out to the best of her ability.

A: Gathering further details, in this pursuit at least, would be rather pointless as the primary sources were investigated and reported. I would first go over the information of the mission and make clear of the common goal and my expectations as leader. I will delegate responsibilities according to the Genin’s strengths and utilize a team formation when pursuing the student.
  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team?

A: As I am the leader of the team, I will lead the search as I am also adept at identifying people attempting stealth. I would allow Masu and Miho to cover the left and right flank due to the sturdy nature of their abilities and capabilities for binding and/or holding down someone. Ri, being proficient in Wind style jutsu, can act as a support from behind and give us that extra speed boost just in case our subject tries to escape us.
  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any?

A: As I frequent the forest, I would warn them to mind the wildlife and to be as silent and stealthy as possible. It is imperative for the operation to be done mute and within the shadows.
  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take?

A: I would deal with more of handling the boy’s emotions, but have my team as back-up to subdue him just in case he acts up or attempts to flee. I’d be sure to reason calmly with the child and ensure that he was now safe. If the boy is further defiant, my team will be cued that I will take a more aggressive approach and for them to follow suit.
  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do?

A: Well, I would first that we have clear communication of the mission’s guidelines and how the situation was supposed to be handled before the rescue attempt. If, somehow, my team member was adamant with their protest, I would reprimand them after the mission was over. During the time of his/her disagreement, I would reason why it is best for us to escort the boy and the expectations for this retrieval.

A: I would immediately request to speak to their leader and trust the public relations in their hands (as they are probably the ones to request the mission from the village). Also, my tone would be calm and assuring as I speak to the villagers.
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. Its tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however, they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take?

A: I would utilize a diamond four-man formation and follow a similar style to the above scenario. Masu and Miho will cover the left and right flank as they are durable ninja, Ri would be back for support, and I’d lead the formation for more aggressive pursuit and as a sensor.
  3. Your team finds the creature, however, it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do?

A: We would seek secure cover and treat it immediately. We would utilize the team’s medical abilities, and mine, to clean out the wound, possibly cauterize it, and bind it. I would then shift the team’s formation and allow said shinobi to fall in the backlines as to avoid direct contact with the beast (I would not send them away as I would want to keep a firm eye on my Genin’s state).
  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however, several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan?

A: Well, as mentioned, my teammate would be instructed to fall to the back of the formation and away from more possible battle. As someone who favors strategy over brute force, instead of using the boulders as cover, I’d probably utilize some type of trap or bait to lure the creature to a designated area and used the boulders to crush it. This way, I am also lessening the team’s physical interaction with the beast as one of my teammate’s is injured.

  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission?

A: I have chosen my previous team, because, realistically, you will have to utilize whichever team you have for success. If you can’t work away around each person’s strength and weaknesses, then is one really worthy of leading? Further, I would fully inform my team of the expectations and goals of this mission. As it is more secretive, I will assign codes and hidden cues that we can utilize for more stealthy ways of communicating.
  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information?

A: No, doing so would be foolish. I would seek another method to collect this information, preferably utilizing myself as the gatherer of information as my team awaits me and readies to back me in the shadows.
  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission?

A: Individually, they all excel in all three shinobi arts, but I would have them focus primarily on using their ninjutsu as a support to their stealth and their genjutsu as a means to distract or remain hidden. In this case, I would prefer for us to act as one entity as opposed to having very specific individual assignments due to the nature of this task.
  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get?

A: My ideal would be to infiltrate the group myself as my team is on standby. So, in that regard, as close as I can get. I am confident in myself and my team and, if any signs of going south, I’d respond accordingly.
  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyway? Why?

A: If it was not in my initial assignment to eliminate the target, I wouldn’t do so without approval. Apprehend and deceive? With a bit of genjutsu and strategy, this is definitely plausible.
  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather?

A: I would want them to collect data about what they saw, take photographs, list names, places, people – basically the whole works of information gathering. It is crucial for them to do this within the shadows.
  7. Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely?

A: We would have this protocol set up prior, so by our combined efforts of ninja tools, we’d dash out of there in an instant and unrecognized.

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?: The 2nd mission

Part 2:
  1. Do you feel it was fair that your team was formed for you in the first two missions? Do you think the third was easier because you could choose your group?

A: Fair is not a word I favor. I prefer it to be randomized, because as shinobi we must be willing to adapt. Failure to do so often causes death and jeopardizes missions.
  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it?
A: According to the law and rules we have in place. There are no exceptions to it.
  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation?

A: I would probably set up an exercise that emphasized the necessity of teamwork and how attitudes can possibly risk the sanctity of the mission and, worse, our lives.
  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do?

A: I would not allow my team of Genin perform a S-rank mission. That would put the mission and my team at risk. I would notify the employer and village immediately.
  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do?

A: Reason with them calmly. If they persist, I would reprimand them as Genin should be trained in obedience.
  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be the priority?

A: The mission always comes first, but if failure and death is inevitable, I rather my team live to see the next day and grow to be stronger shinobi that the village can utilize.

When complete, please stand and do your best impression of an eagle and an action pose.

Suika was now done. Doing as instructed, and with a half-lidded expression, Suika plopped her arms out and impersonated a soaring eagle. "Eeeeeek~" she resounded. As a former performer, she was shy, but this task did feel very silly.

Having to fill out another piece of paper well and truly sucked. She thought she would have to only deal with that one, since it was kinda long winded and very confusing. While she hoped to have got everything correct, she also knew there was bound to be fuck ups, especially with hers… what?! Her mother was mentioned! There was no helping it!

After reading it all, she rolled her eyes at the end of it, she couldn’t believe it. She had to do the pose of an eagle, what is this?? This was going to be bad for the young Fujiwara, simply because she had little grace in her.

  1. Immediately following your mission briefing, what is your first action as a leader to your group. Do you split up tasks between each member, or set them on a common goal? Do you gather more information, backtrack over intel’s information or start immediate pursuit?
While it does state what they have information wise, I would start by questioning what jutsu’s they know specifically, as this could help them in the long run, it would probably also help for them to bond. This mission could possibly be ruined by one toxic team member, I do not want that. I would also find out about their talents, as there are many weird and wonderful talents and tricks out there that could help in this mission.

Afterwards, I would set off a common goal, which would be to find the kid itself, of course. I would help with the tracking the information gathering, however, information gathering will be a top priority before tracking.

  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team?
All my team members have headsets, so it seems we could utilise them to it’s proper use. Luckily, I have been assigned someone who is known as an inuzuka, so we will have to take advantage of that to its full extent.

  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any?
If anything, I would prefer them to stay by my side, so they can’t get lost. I personally know the ins and the outs of the forest, so I know of it’s dangers, yet I also know of it’s beauty. There could possibly be dangers of rogue shinobi running around which could be too strong for the team members. There could also be dangers of it actually being a trap (you never know in this world nowadays) and so to tell them to keep up their guard is a must.

  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take?
This could be too dangerous for the kids if he lashed out, so I would offer to walk up to him slowly and then comfort him the best as possible, even a hug if I deem it to be safe.

  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do?
While I would also agree, I would also advise me and my team to escort him home, but offer to buy him food and drink first, because that would ease the kids worries some more. Might even help us make him much happier and chilled.

I would convince them that while we are shinobi, we are just like them, we all make mistakes and that it would be much safer if the team handled the problem.
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. Its tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however, they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take?
While I would let Koi take the lead with her Inuzuka mojo, I will continue to tell the others to be on their guard, for we do not know what will happen.

  3. Your team finds the creature, however, it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do?
Conveniently, Tao knows medical jutsu according to the information I was given, and I would ask him to apply his knowledge of the jutsu on Miho, and I will make sure to carry Miho as to make any injury worse.

  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however, several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan?
Taking advantage of the large boulders, I would hide Miho behind the one I deem to be the safest before going out to take on the beast with the other 2, I will also make sure to take advantage of the headset to keep checking up on her.

I would go with Koi, Miho and Tao as they would have gotten comfortable with me by now, and would be more familiar with me.

  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission?
I would go with Koi, Miho and Tao as they would have gotten comfortable with me by now, and would be more familiar with me, they would have also bonded with each other and know each of their perks etc

  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information?
I would use other means, which would be to disguise as the grunts, it would be much more easier that way, although much more dangerous.

  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission?
As this is a casual/lazy/dangerous tactic, none would really be needed unless the plan fails.

  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get?
Literally right next to them, with the way I want to go about with this.

  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyway? Why?
As bad as it sounds, I would. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and there may not be an opportunity like that again for a long while.

  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather?
Would leave when the group disperses or has to meet up somewhere else, much more convenient and less suspicious.

  7. Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely?
Would leave when the group disperses or has to meet up somewhere else, much more convenient and less suspicious.

Of these three missions, which do you feel would most suit your skills and leadership abilities? If you feel none of these missions fit your particular skill set, explain why, and what you have to offer instead?:
Personally, the third one. I do like a bit of everything though, so I am not well and truly bothered.

Part 2:
  1. Do you feel it was fair that your team was formed for you in the first two missions? Do you think the third was easier because you could choose your group?
I personally thought both processes are fair and easier, it still gets the job done in the end and helps keep the community safe.

  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it?
I would advise against it before attempting to make them go through the process of letting them leave kumogakure lawfully.

  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation?
Talk it out and lecture with them, I am not here for them forever, so even if they still refuse to co-operate, I will at least tell them to watch each others back and put their differences aside.

  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do?
Ask for more backup through headsets, if none are available then I would have to send a message to the higher ups in one way or another.

  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do?
Scold, all the time. Then if they do go disobey my orders and get into trouble, I will remind them to not do it again as something bad could happen again...

  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be the priority?
Well being, definitely well being, without well being, missions cannot be completed properly, or can be, but poorly or to the bare minimum. Besides, it’s out of respect.

When complete, please stand and do your best impression of an eagle and an action pose.

After completing everything that she spotted, she stood up, looked to her chair and then kicking it away with such badassery before going straight into an eagle pose. It may not have been graceful, but she has done so in style!

Oh god damn it, more paper tests? Is this a joke? I didn't realize I was going to college, again. I already got a med degree, so did I miss the part where I needed one in being a ninja?!

"Hoo..." I muttered as I attempted to calm myself. It helped that the teacher made an overly grandiose display at handing out some papers likes we weren't all shinobi able to bend steel and shoot fire at will. She was hot, sure, but that lost some point with me. Too showy for my tastes. Entertaining, though. I'd have just made everyone else go grab one. Tsundere teacher, maybe?

Before long I skimmed over the exam and got the gist of it. Just another psyche test. I feel like giving out this info is nothing but detrimental to me, but I didn't have much choice if I wanted a promotion. If nothing else I'll just lie and give a 'good boy answer', anyway. I reasoned as I got to work on my piece.

Reinterview friends. Assuming that is a dead end, already, I'd be looking into last known locations and people who may have seen him during or around those times. Splitting up my team in no particular order would most likely be my course of action at that point. We'd keep in contact as best we could and swarm to any leads.

  2. You are assumed to have found the missing student’s tracks. In the process of tracking him, how do you utilize the skills of your team?

None of the genin's assigned to me would be of much use. There aren't any earth or air affinity users on my team that are especially good at tracking. I could probably utilize my own abilities to track the child in question easily enough. I would most likely be the one taking point at this point in the mission.
  3. What cautionary measures do you order when entering the Ancient forest, if any?

Caution assumes ambush. We are the ones who hunting and we have no reason to believe we should be expected. If the enemy assumed they would've been followed, they at most would be leaving a trap behind. The chances of one of us tripping something would be nearly nil unless it was near something noteworthy. It should be fairly obvious in that situation to 'proceed with caution'.

  4. When you find the student, you find them to be emotionally distraught and volatile. How do you direct your team to handle the student? What precautions do you take?

We subdue the child either by force or by compliance and secure the area. Assuming nothing goes amiss from there. We interview the child, if they are nonresponsive, we put them to sleep and transport them back to the village and we go home.

  5. The student appeals to your team to allow him to go home, one of your team members shows signs of agreeing with them. What do you do?

Remind them of their duty? If they have a problem with what we are doing tell it to someone who can do something about it. If they insist, tell them to fall in line. If that also doesn't work, subdue the team member.

At this point, we just need to get to the kid to processing. There are legal ways to quit if he feels so strongly. If he was escaping from the village, that's just being naive and will likely be punished.

I don't answer to them, if so be it I can start cracking heads. They are hopefully smart enough to understand that we don't come around knocking just to say hello. We are soldiers, not emasaries.
  2. Your team find the tracks of the monster you are hunting at the edge of town. Its tracks are indiscernible to you or your team, but are thought to be some kind of bear, however, they are easy to follow. How do you arrange your team for this expedition, what precautions do you take?

? I take the lead and my team follows. I have no reason to believe it can't be handled. It's a wild animal. Dangerous, sure, but still just an animal.

  3. Your team finds the creature, however, it is able to overpower and injure your second teammate. You are a day away from the nearest village, and the wound is in danger of infection and bleeding out. What do you do?

We have two medics on our team. He will be fine assuming it's treatable and he didn't get gutted or something.
  4. You find the creature in its lair, a single exit cave in a crevice of the mountains. The monster is spotted and is a giant bear with the head of an eagle. You are above the tree line, however, several large boulders offer cover on approach. Your second teammate is assumed to be too injured to fight. What is your plan?

Trap it inside. It has to come to us and we'll just smoke a fire and draw it into the cave. It'll either come to us or die in suffocation. Likely use available traps to make it regret leaving for fresh air.

Question Series 3: Intel gathering

There have been rumors in the south of an attack on the newly developed rail line between Lightning and Fire country by radical nationalists from port Cirrus.

Just give me the same team, I don't care.
  1. What preparations do you make for you and your team before beginning your mission?

I don't fucking know, I expect those under me to be competent enough to gear themselves out. I would be taking a standard affair for likely indoor combat. Less explosives, more poisons. I'd likely use whatever evidence we can find. It's all a 'what if' anyway.
  2. Do you pick a single candidate to try and get close to the group, or do you use other means to gather your information?

No, I let my team operate as they see fit. If they are slacking I'll reprimand them, but I expect my team to, again, be competent on their own. I would be mainly doing interviewing.
  3. How do you use the individual skills of your team in this mission?

I'm decent at tracking, I'd be pretty mundane in my searching and interviewing.
  4. How close to the radical nationalist group do you expect you/your team to get?

Close enough to stop it unless someone else does so. If we never get any leads to them, then who knows?
  5. You are given an opportunity to kill over of the group’s leaders but are unable to radio for confirmation to kill. Do you do so anyway? Why?

Yes? In the event the HQ can't contact me it's my decision. I'd choose to kill. For why, it just seems convenient. It'd also likely throw the group around a bit until they got a new head.
  6. What kind of proof would you expect to look for/direct your team members to gather?

Likely articles of crimes to fund this operation, kidnapping, coercion, rape, and fraud. The general stuff expected from a cult.
  7. Based on your plan of action, what extraction method do you use to get your team out safely?

Assuming they can't do it themselves? I could always evac them through the use of metal. I personally don't really have issues entering and exiting buildings. Locks don't really work and metal walls may as well be makeshift doors.

Of course it'd be easier if I chose my own group. I'd make a team that actually complements either other then a pick out of a hat.
  2. As a leader, if one of your team expressed desires to leave Kumogakure unlawfully, how would handle it?

I'd likely report him, it's not my problem as long as the upper branch knows what's going on. I'd assume at some point I'd form a bond with this person if they are willing to tell me they are leaving. I'm not going to physically stop them from what they want to do.
  3. Two of your teammates refuse to get along, what action do you take to rectify the situation?

I beat them up. Likely, I'd become the focus of their hate and if that didn't work, I'd tell them to buck up or get fucked.
  4. A C-rank mission you are leading is suddenly upgraded to an S-rank mission status based on misinformation from the employer. What do you do?

I make sure my team escapes. I'm not going to do a suicide mission because upper management is incompetent.
  5. One of your team members repeatedly refuses to follow orders, what do you do?

I beat his skull in. You can be a shinobi or you can go stay in the medical wing for the rest of your career in my squad.
  6. Do you believe your team’s well being or your mission goal to be the priority?

Depends on how important the task is. If it's to stop the destruction of Kumo? I'll probably sack my entire team. To save some no name secondarily important figure? Team will probably out preform.

When complete, please stand and do your best impression of an eagle and an action pose.

Mei continued to flip through the papers.... and flip.... and... flip.... giggle... and flip some more with incredible reading speed. For one she caressed her chin thoughtfully and tutted under her breath, the next she giggles under her breath and chewed her nail. By the time the first of them was done part two of the test and standing tall and mighty like an eagle, she had read everything ten times start to finish. Devoured every word you could say.

Her brown eyes turned on Kyo first, whose test whipped cross the room to her eager hands. She was through the information by the time Honnou puffed his little chest out, and through that when Yuu, Suika and sassy Minako followed close behind. Each finished test received a hum that was indiscernible in reason. It was as easily mistaken for impressed as it was for disappointment- a vocal feat. Last was Eishi, who did not gift her with the majestic pose the test had demanded.

Mei scowled and waved an admonishing finger in his direction. Failure to follow directions would end up on his record for a lifetime.

Otherwise.

A burst of confetti rained from her hands, showering the youngsters with bits of paper that were just a bit sharp to the touch. Micro-paper, horribly painful but not life-threatening. Rather than speak, she picked up the chalk again and wrote.

And then it was over, just like that. I hadn't expected this to be the end, but I was still thankful it was. This had severely undermined my thought of what it meant to complete a chunin exam. I was really expecting some trickery, some fighting, but in the end, it was a series of phycological and 'what if' scenarios. I had to remind myself that this wasn't a normal exam. The fact that we were stopping here just compounded my suspicions to an almost certainty. The village needed more bodies to fill out their ranks, so promoting some of the more prominent genins from within made a bit of sense. We were just running a series of 'gimmie' tests so the admins could point to this exam to say that we were all verified and cropped correctly, but the reality of the matter was that they had done most of the weeding well before we ever got to Kiri's test and we could've probably written anything and passed. I mean even Ikko passed singing a poem like that wasn't insanely stupid, had this been a real exam. I could only sigh in resignation once more at my presumed assumption. I trusted the administration's judgment, they've been at this game a whole hell of a lot longer than I have, but it still felt bittersweet to know I was already guaranteed to pass as much as I was never in a position to fail in the first place.

Either way, I didn't take my time to exit. I was expecting my passing in the coming days but was surprised when it didn't even take that long to reach me. I should have figured that would happen, but I still decided I was going to go get something fatty and delicious to celebrate. If nothing else, I just secured my promotion and the pay raise that had entailed after all.

Yuu sighed in relief just as he sunk back to his desk. Other than that embarrassing pose he made, he was relieved that the written exam was done. Comparing to the last part of the Chuunin exam, this one really tested his mettle as a shinobi. Not only he has to come up with a strategy while working with his imaginary teammates, but he had to make choices that it might affect not only the mission that was given to them but his relationship with them as well. From what he can tell with that last test, it somehow determined how they can balance their bonds with some compatible shinobi while taking advantage of their strengths and weaknesses on the battlefield. Either way, he had to make a mental note of that difficult road that the test showed him in case he ever found those same situations like in the test.

Regardless, he bowed to his proctor before he silently left the room. He would say goodbye to her, but he was still worried if something happened to him when he talked in that room. That aside, all that's left now was to wait for the results of the test and hoped that he passed the Chuunin exam. He worked hard to get through the oral and written exam, so he wondered that he would be promoted to the Chuunin rank or if he still needed work as a Genin.

Either way, all he can do now was to head straight home and rest for today. He knew he earned it.

It was about time that the exam was done, and Minako was rather worried, she did some sort of pose and then confetti decided to escape from the proctors hands. It was indeed a relief. There were a few other things to worry about now however, what if she didn’t pass?? What if her family were disappointed by that fact?? That would totally suck, she wanted to teach all sorts of things to others, yet… she wouldn’t be able to if that was denied.

With everything over and done with, Minako bowed down, and decided to leave.

Fuck everything.

Fuck everyone.

And if anyone doubted her ability and reasonings, she will fucking wreck them and tear them a new arsehole. She was just glad that everything was over and done with.

As the last person made their eagle stance and posed, it appeared as if the exam was finally coming to a finish. Their proctor, the quiet, yet stern librarian, wrote quickly their congratulations for finishing this part of the exam and informed them they would receive their results soon. That was it? Suika was a bit surprised, especially since there was no real physical effort needed throughout the course of this exam. Maybe the higher-ups cared more for brain over brawn? Nonetheless, she was also relieved it was over.

“Well, time to wait and see.” She was pretty confident that she’d passed. If she didn’t… oh well. Bowing her head respectfully, the girl made her way to the exit. Suika’s next chapter in shinobihood would begin soon.
