Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Shigeru had waited awhile to start up another class at the Academy. His last class had not gone so well, and that wasn’t entirely his fault, though he could not remove the blame from himself completely. He had given the students too much free reign, and that had caused them to act out in weird ways, especially that Sashine girl; she had been a real handful. What these kids needed was not a forum to vent their aggression, but a carefully crafted lesson that would give them the basics of becoming a successful shinobi that would benefit the village. These students needed a solid foundation, and since there were no other instructors teaching things, it would be up to Shigeru to give these students the basis that they needed.

~

The day of the class was upon Shigeru, and he had nothing but butterflies in his stomach. This time Shigeru had opted to wear a normal outfit: pants, a shirt, AND an instructor’s robe. Gone was the outdoor environment, and instead, Shigeru had placed this class firmly inside the confines of one of the many classrooms. It was setup normally with desks and chairs for the students as well as several windows overlooking the training grounds. Shigeru was confident that this would indeed be the class to truly help these kids. So he wrote a message on the board and waited.

This will be a pretty good introduction to all things shinobi and maybe even a small smattering of how your life on ninpocho will evolve. This class will officially start in 3 days, and then after that, each ‘round’ will be two days. There will be no posting order, meaning you can post whenever you can. Just remember, if you do not post in time you will be skipped. The more times you are skipped the less likely it is that you will pass the class. Now have fun, and strive to make your roleplays solid!

Finally the day had arrived when Ritsuko started on the academy. She walked into the class with a smile. "Hey, im Yumira Ritsuko" she introduced herself, and then she took place behind a desk, back in the room. She wear her usual headband, and a black dress. It was quite unusual for her to wear a dress, but her uncle told her so, and so she did. She glanced the class, and took a look at the other students, and when she had the opportunity she smiled once in a while, and a few times she got a smile back. She didn't know a single one of the students, not that it surprised her. She didn't have any friends, by choice of course, she loved her own company to much, and the animals of course. At last her eyes fell at the blackboard, and then she felt ready to start in this class.

Kenta hasn't slept all night. His parents kept him up in order to be on his very best on his first day of school. He sat at his desk in his room, reading a 3 inch textbook about the history of Kumogakure. "The current Raikage is..." He paused half sentance in order to look around the room. His Mother, who had been supervising him and his project. "Finally... She's asleep..." Kenta snuck over to his window, extra cautious not to make any noise and awaken his slumbering mother. He knew the punishment if he were to awaken her and she were to catch him sneaking out. He opened the window and scaled the wall using the slightly sticking out rocks on the side of his house. Kenta wandered around Kumogakure, occasionally stopping to enjoy the sights and embrace what he soon will be protecting as a Shinobi. A few hours later, Kenta snuck back into his house and picked up his huge pile of books. He bgan walking to school and arrived there in half an hour, due to the massive amount of books in his arms. He walked into class and dropped the books on the ground in front of a vacant seat. "Hello everyone..." He said, with a hint of boredom in his voice. Kenta wore his usual black get up, with his shirt having the words "Do Not Disturb" written on the front in bright vibrant blue. He then proceeded to sit down and read his books, waiting for the class to start. Kenta wondered to himself if he would learn anything important here, causing him to think of one of his past encounters. More thoughts began flooding into his head. He slapped his head in order to snap back into reality, gaining a few stares from his fellow classmates. He looked around, realising the other students staring. Kenta sighed and faced his head down, beginning to read his book once again.

It was Ryuuka's time to shine! he had been preparing to go to class since 3am that morning, thinking about the possibilities of what he could learn and how he could prove his-self to the world. In his plain room he lay on his bed with his lamp shining bright onto his scroll about the great shinobi of the land of lightning is spread out over his bedside table. As sun slowly arises Ryuuka gets out of bed and takes one final look at the scroll before he steps off, he throws on his favourite green vest and heads downstairs and out the door with haste completely forgetting to eat. On his way to the academy he decides to sit down on a bench somewhere in the susukino district where he met a very unusual character, she asked him to dance and he did as he was told and danced with all his might. Realising that he would be late he cut short the dance session with the girl and rushed to the academy making it a few moments before class began, 'just enough time to say hi to friends and introduce myself' Ryuuka thought as he walked in. "Hey everyone its the one and only" Ryuuka says boldly as he sits down in the 3rd row close to the middle. It was a fine day in the cloud, sunny and bright as the birds chirped in the trees surrounding the academy, the academy was full of students ready to learn. all of them bright eyed and bushy tailed, short, tall, all the children are awaiting to become a shinobi, but they dont know what awaits them behing those doors. So hows everybody been? hehe... He says to break the silence that has came over the room, he slumps into his chair realising the teacher had arrived.

Yuki walked quietly into the classroom, not wanting to make a scene, and his stomach was twisted into a knot. His first real lesson in the ways of the shinobi. It was an exciting prospect, truly it was. This is what he had wanted. Wasn't it? To have a chance at becoming shinobi. The idea made him absolutely giddy. Of course, he didn't let this show. He never would. Too many years working his uncle's inn under the watchful eye of his boozed up guardian had hardened his face. The other students couldn't know how he felt. He had to present himself as an equal, or even their better. Of course, that was assuming they paid him any mind at all. He was dressed rather simply, as fitted his idea of what shinobi was. A simple white shirt and black pants. the weather, but Yuki was quite accustomed to the cold. It never really bothered him much. No discerning markings on his clothes. Perfect. Some might say he was under-dressed, given the weather, but Yuki was quite accustomed to the cold. It never really bothered him much.

He looked at each other student, trying to size them up. Nobody in particular stood out, though he suspected that would change in time, after he saw what his peers were capable of. For now, though, he’d content himself in taking a seat… After he announced himself, of course.

“Tsukino Yuki,” he stated aloud, simply and clearly. His insides shuddered as he did. He’d been hoping to avoid being noticed at all. So much for well laid plans...

Shigeru watched as the students filed inside the classroom. Overall, it seemed like a much better crowd then had shown up in Shigeru’s previous class, the disaster that it had been. Though some of the kids were not the most formal, Shigeru decided to give that a pass, because in truth, he himself was not much of a by the books kind of man. After waiting an appropriate amount of time, Shigeru knew it was time to begin the lesson for the day. Standing up from his small desk, Shigeru walked in front of the blackboard and scrawled one word out quickly. Shinobi. He turned to the class and gave them all ample time to register what he had just written.

After that brief pause, Shigeru clapped his hands together to reassert the attention to himself. “I know most of you are still very young, and most of you probably have had little to no experience with being a shinobi. We are here right now to change all of that. This will be a functioning crash course in all the things that you need to know about being a shinobi in our great village of Kumogakure no Sato. However, I want to get this lesson started off right. I want you first to tell me what you think a shinobi is. What are the responsibilities each shinobi has? You don’t need to go on a large tangent, but in a few words, please summarize this for me. I want to know where we are starting so that I don’t bore you with anything too well known.” Shigeru finished his short spiel, took a breath, and then looked at each student expectantly. If these students were more knowledgeable than he gave them credit for, the lesson would have to be edited a little to fit the level of education.

OoC: Okay, I'm giving you all three days to post, but if you can post before that limit please do. I extended the deadline because there are more of you! Okay guys, lets have some fun!

Ryuuka listened diligently and noticed that after the speech nobody was raising their hand to go first, feeling that it was his responsibility to step out from the crowd and be an individual, his own man, he raised his hand and stood up saying "I'll go first". The young boy got out of his seat and walked up to the front but was tripped on the way, he brushed it off with a flick of the wrist aimed at the presumed bully and continued walking down to the front. Having all eyes in the room staring at him Ryuuka felt special and stood up front with pride. "A shinobi, well i think a shinobi isn't just a role or an occupation, its a code to live by, a way of life, something to be respected and not feared. That's what I, Ryuuka Hotaka believe a shinobi is." Ryuuka finishes his sentence with a large grin and walks back to his seat.

Ritsuko listened closely after the teachers speech, with her eyes directed at the blackboard. Shinobi, while philosophizing over what it meant to be a shinobi, and what their responsibilities was, a boy raised his hand as the first, at his way down, he tripped, it looked like someone made him trip intentionally, but she wouldn't know, and she didn't really care. Finally the boy arrived down in front of the other students. She continued to think, while listening to the boy. He had a point, in some of what he said. She raised her hand, as the boy was finished, and had taken place. "Id like to go next" She said. She got up from her seat, and walked down in front of the class. Most of the students had their eyes at her, and studied her closely. She didn't mind, the only thing she was nervous about was failing this class, so she wanted the teacher to think highly of her from the start. She smiled confidently "I think a shinobi is a person appreciated and respected by their village, they are responsible to protect their village, and would do so at any cost. Their loyalty lays with the village and it's peoples. They have to be strong, and cannot let their emotions get in the way, that's what i think" She said, and took a look at the other students. None made a face she could read, so she was unable to tell if what she just said was nonsense, or if it made sense. But what she said, was truly what she believed. So if the other didn't agree it didn't matter, and if what she believed was incorrect, then she would learn, by the time it was necessary. She returned to her seat, and listened to the student after her.

Kenta sat there and kept reading his book. It took him a good 10 minutes to realise all the glares he was earning. "Oh, was it my turn?" He said calmly. Kenta stood up, sticking his book into his deck. He cleared his throat "I believe a shinobi should be a role model. As a role model, i mean a person the little ones can look up to. Someone who people can look up to... Someone who can-" He stopped mid-sentance to think to himself. What qualities should a role model have? Could he ever be a great shinobi as the ones before him were? Kenta went deep into thought and began having flashbacks of that one faithful encounter. "Uh... thats all" He sat back down, ashamed of his answer.

The class, save for one Tsukino Yuki who seemed to be paralyzed by fear, answered all in quick order. Even Nara Kenta's answer, as long as it took to get out of him, seemed to be at least a good starting point for all of them. They knew the supreme bare bones of what a shinobi was, but that did not mean they had committed such a thing to their hearts as Shigeru had done so long ago. They were all right in their own way, which was suprising to Shigeru. When he first graced these halls, he knew nothing of the shinobi duties, only that he wished it had included playing the lute. "All of you students are indeed correct. A shinobi is more than just a mere occupation that you can slap next to your name, in order to be a true shinobi you must devote your life to it, and in turn, you may reap the benefits of such a job position. You also will gain the respect of all those you help, the villagers do tend to trust us, considering that we save their lives without a second thought. And Kenta, you are right, as a shinobi you should aspire to be someone that those below you can look up to. If you do not set the example then who will?"

"All your answers," Shigeru said after he finished his first response to the students. "Are definitely correct. You do know what a shinobi is. However, a shinobi is more than just those things. A shinobi is the perfect weapon to be weilded by our Raikage to solve the problems that our Village faces. In this fight, we train in the arts of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu. These are our most primary forms of attack and defense against all that will assail us. Ninjutsu, the art that I most rely on, is channeling your chakra to shape the very forces of nature around you. Taijutsu is martial arts at its finest, where you no longer rely on your chakra, but your body, to do the damage to your opponent. Genjutsu, unlike the other two, pits your mind against your opponents in a battle of wits, where you slowly crush your opposition through sheer willpower. These three tools set shinobi apart from any other mere fighter." Shigeru paused for a moment to let that set in with the class.

"So tell me all. What experience have you had with any of these tools of the shinobi, and which do you think is the strongest and why?" Shigeru posed the question very openly so as to garner some kind of actual discussion points from the students. Hopefully Yuki would break from the jitters and answer this time.

OoC: All right, another three days. Try to get the posts over 200 words everyone. Work on expanding your posts, and your other roleplays will get better because of it. Yuki, please don't miss another round.

Yuki had stayed silent during the first question. He knew what a shinobi was, at least in his mind. It was just hard to get that idea out of his mind and into words. Not to mention, he was still nervous. There was a tingling in his core. As he often found was the issue with him. Of course, he did take some interest in what his classmates had to say on the matter. Interesting, he thought. It seemed that everyone had a concept for what a shinobi was. How did they stack up to his thoughts on the matter? Yuki had two conflicting ideas of his own with in his head. A shinobi was both a tool and a... hero? Was that the right term? Well, he thought, they killed people. But for the right reasons? Yuki did not know.

But the next question was right up his alley: what was the most important tool of the shinobi? Yuki thought on it for a moment, but was soon as confident as he could be in the answer that he had. There were butterflies in his stomach still, but he silenced them through force of will. Quietly, he rose from his seat and practically tiptoed his way to the front of the classroom. Once he was there, he cleared his throat and looked at the instructor, then his classmates, a certain false steel in his eyes, a cool demeanor glossing over them like ice.

"The most important tool of the shinobi is the mind," he said simply, "Because you rely on it for everything. It's your everything. Like, uh, there's an entire section of jutsu dedicated to manipulating it, and even if you find yourself without other tools, you'll usually have your mind."

Yuki coughed. His insides were screaming a little, but he'd said his piece. Calmly, he walked back to his seat, waiting for it to be over. Along the way, he made eye contact with a few of his fellow students. No fear, he reminded himself, as he looked each in the eye. Eyes were the most important part of conversation, or so he'd heard.

OoC: Sorry! New Year's was crazy!

Hideki ran as fast as he could to class. How could he possibly be late for his first day of becoming a Shinobi! Well he knew why... His mother didn't wake him up on time! She hated the idea of him dying in service for his village and the Raikage! He could hear her now. Man he couldn't stand that women some days, but he guessed it was for a good reason. He knew that this path he was choosing was dangerous. But it was what he wanted to do in life. Destined he could even say.

"Your just a pawn in a big scheme! Don't throw your life away! Work with me at the bar, you'll never go wrong!" She had yelled before he left the bar that morning. He should've told Aki, the bar bouncer, to wake him up. He liked the idea of Hideki becoming a strong shinobi. He didn't want Hideki to end up like he did. Stuck in a dead end job. Hideki was glad that one person supported his decision.

He hated when his mother tried to convince out of his dream. He still couldn't believe she had even let him go to class! Probably would think he would quit once he found out how hard it is. It didn't matter how hard it got, he would never quit on his dream! He was going to live up to his Father's name! And one say he will surpass all expectations!!! But right now he had to get to class. He wondered if he would be punished... He wasn't good at taking pain, so he hoped not.

He rounded the corner seeing the door, "Wait! I'm he-" Hideki tripped on thin air face planting into the hard ground... Hideki got up, rubbing his head. His body wasn't hurt it was his pride... His blue kimono slightly hanging off his shoulder. He pulled it back on, before dropping into numerous bows saying sorry each time. Hideki neatly combed hair was now a mess. He tried to move his bangs aside but failed miserableness. "Sorry for being late, Sensei!" He did one last bow and apology.

He didn't even wait for him to respond, he went straight to a empty seat and sat down. He was too embarrassed to look at the other students. He had been a complete and utter fool on his first day! Hideki cheeks went red as a baby butt. He could redeem himself hopefully. He studied all of his text books last night. Any question thrown at him he would answer. Hideki calmed down after he sat rubbing his head. He hoped a not wouldn't appear. He knew if he came home bruised his mom would defiantly not let him become a shinobi.

Hideki was about pick up a textbook when he realized he had left them at hom! Nothing was going good for him today! "Worst day of my life!" Hideki moaned before dropping his chin on the desk. He attempted to blow a piece of hair back in place. But all it did was slid back in front of his eye. He needed a haircut. Maybe his bad luck was over... Just maybe.

Ryuuka was just about to raise his hand to go up front and answer the question as the stumbling late student rushes into the classroom, he ran to an empty desk which was coincidentally behind him after saying sorry to the teacher. "Psst kid" he whispered to Hideki and tapped in the desk behind him acting like nothing was happening "Nice entrance" he whispered once more as he turned around to get out of his seat and winked at him with a grin as he walked down to the front. Clearing his thoughts and visualizing the perfect shinobi, he scratches his head and says as follows "The best shinobi weapon is to fight without fighting, in most cases that is not possible so in dire times its something to rely on, that is why i think taijutsu is the greatest weapon and ally of a true shinobi, they should be able to strike without hurting and also be able to hurt their foes."
He walks back to his seat with pride believing that his answer was proper and held many rights, he sits down and lays back in his chair waiting for the next person to step up to the plate and voice their opinion on the matter.

Ritsuko had a hard time figuring out what to answer, she knew which of the 3 fighting stiles that was mentioned she liked the most, and saw as the best ninja tool. But she didn't know how to formulate it. She wasn't nervous about looking dumb in front of the class, she couldn't care less about the other students opinion, but she wanted to be in the top of the class, one of the best. Then suddenly another student stumbled into the class, after apologizing a lot of times for being late he found an empty desk, and the class could continue. After listening to some of the other students answers, she felt almost ready to answer, though she was still very nervous. She definitely felt more sure about her answer from before. She slowly walked down in front of the class. She glimpsed at the teacher, sank a frog from her throat and then started. "I think the best a ninja can use is the imagination, and that's why i believe genjutsu is the strongest ninja tool" That's about what she had to say, and then she walked back to her desk, disappointed about her answer. Her reason to choose genjutsu was thin, well it wasn't, but when it came to explaining about it, it never went very well. Her explaining skills, was poor.

Shigeru listened to all the answers and non-answers equally, and he especially listened to Kenta’s completely nonexistent answer. The boy had been late in answering once, which was a valid answer, but now maybe he was letting his true nature shine through. There was also another latecomer, which was understandable. This class had been at a weird time, but it had to be done to accommodate so many students’ timetables. However, Shigeru was not angered by this tardiness; he embraced it instead. Shigeru was a firm believer in the principle of late now, early later, and one day these students would be shinobi; they needed to save their earliness for when it truly mattered. However, despite the fact that he was not angry, outwardly Shigeru did not show any signs that he was happy about the non-answers and tardiness, a teacher can never show that type of leniency. However, he did not verbally abuse his students in any way.

The students’ answers, though they had been short, were actually quite good across the board. Some had even gone past his original premise and picked more than just jutsu as a shinobi’s greatest weapon. This is the point Shigeru was attempting to make in the first place. “A shinobi is more than just the tools that he has at his disposal, you are all correct. A shinobi has both his mind and creativity, which set him apart from the rest of the fighters of the world. Lots of warriors have a grasp over chakra control, though they may believe that what they use isn’t merely chakra. So just your use of Nin, Gen, and Tai will not always win you the day when going against an equally strong opponent. Your mind, however, will always put you ahead if you remain vigilant, and as Ritsuko said, if you are creative with your jutsu, they will become more powerful. Always remember to use what you have in the most creative and effective manner. Learning to employ these skills of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu will make you stronger in battle; these things are almost necessary to being a shinobi.”

Shigeru looked around the room to see if his point got across to all of them. He had hoped someone would have talked about his favorite tool, Ninjutsu, but none here were going that route apparently, so the lecture continued. “Now, as you may know, when you graduate from this academy, you will all assimilate into what is known as the Main Branch of Kumogakure. Can anyone tell me what you think the Main Branch does? And can anyone tell me what other branches there are and what they do?”

Ritsuko knew two branches, though she didn't really now anything about them. She had heard about the main branch before, but she didn't really know how to explain what it was about. She wanted to answer, but wouldn't it be awkward to go down in front of the class just to say that you actually didn't know what it is, especially if the other students knew. She hadn't even thought about what she should after the academy, she had an idea about the only thing she had to do after this was to go on missions? What exactly was this main branch, was it like a school for genins or so. No it had to be something about an organization giving missions or so, but that she couldn't say, rather say nothing, than saying something incorrect, right? She decided to answer, but she would stay behind her desk, she didn't want to go down in front of the class with the answer she had. It took her a little time to find out exactly what her answer should be.

She bid her lip, and blinked a few times to get some courage. She raised her hand, while she got up. "umm i know two branches, the main branch, that you just mentioned, and the medical branch. I don't really know anything about the main branch, but i guess it has something to do with with our missions, but that's just a guess and the medical branch i guess has to be something about getting specialized within medical jutsu after finishing the academy." she stuttered some of the words, but at least, she said what she could, and what she knew, and the most of it had to be understandable. Then she sat down again, insecure about her answer. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. what she pass with this little knowledge. She hoped that she got the chance to show what she could. She really thought she was more prepared for this academy thing.

Yuki was quite pleased after he'd heard the sensei speak. It seemed that his own answer had been satisfactory. And Tsukino Yuki had always been proud of his mind. Some people had called him clever before. But there was more to it than that. Yuki was quite observant and mentally oriented. He had to be sharp. Inn work demanded it. And he'd done plenty of that. He learned from observing, listening. And that tied into the next question as well: what were the branches aside from the main branch? And of course, the medical branch that the young girl had mentioned. But Yuki knew the next one as well. The ANBU Branch. And he knew about the main branch itself, from his own studies.

Yuki had not been idle since his arrival at the academy. He'd been listening, observing. And he'd heard the other branch mentioned. It seemed that listening came in handy. Yuki rose from his seat and began to speak, his confidence rising. He could get used to answering questions. "The main branch is the main administrative power, making up the bulk of shinobi power. They cover the day to day shinobi operations, and are the main military power," he said, his tone serious, "And another branch is the ANBU. They're a black ops branch, they deal with hunting and other objectives."

Yuki sat back down after answering, his face still and blank, but his insides were still churning a little. His eyes darted around the room, still observing.

Hideki blinked... He didn't know much about feelings and certainly not flirting, but... from spending the night watching plenty of men hit on his mom at the bar. He thought he knew enough to know that kid wants to go out! Hideki blushed, he didn't really like boys... or girls at that matter... he scratched the side of his head idly with a droopy smile...

No! Hideki slammed his fist into his desk, his long bangs flying up. He can't' get distracted from his studies cause of another kid can't control their natural urges!! They we're both trying to become Shinobi! There is no room for relationships or anything of the sorts. "Though that was pretty sweet of him to notice me, in the middle of class like that..." Hideki same droopy smile from earlier appeared. No! Hideki jerked up his hair flying up with him. He has to focus on his studies! No girls! No boys! No nothing!

Hideki listened to the flirty kid talk. He acknowledge that he was a well-built for his age and his answer told him why. Well maybe he can put some time away for a few dates at the bar... "No! FOCUS!" Then when he stared to go back to his desk, Hideki turned his head shunning him. He didn't want to just throw the kid's feelings away. He had too, it hurt him as much as it possibly hurt the kid. He had to focus on his studies, nothing else mattered at the moment.

When the girl went to the front, Hideki listened intently. He liked her way of thinking more than McCool behind him. Though when she mentioned Genjutsu he thought otherwise. He didn't like her answer that much anymore, and he didn't like flirty kid's either... Maybe he needed to develop his own feelings about Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Taijutsu. He enjoyed learning about Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, and it's always fun to use Taijutsu... He still couldn't figure out which one he wanted do the most. Genjutsu had its perks, Taijutsu has is. Ninjutsu also has the same perks. So Hideki thought, "Why not them all?" He questioned if he could become a jack of all trades. He didn't have to for say master any jutsu, but just know how to use each one to its own advantages. He puzzled his brain for a while about this topic till Sensei started talking again.

He listened to Sensei's lecture about Jutsu and how it needed creativity and effectiveness to work. He didn't per say Hideki couldn't try to dip his foot into all the pools of jutsu. So Hideki set his mind to that! He was going be a jack of all trade's! No one will see it coming. Hideki hoped he would be the first one to think of this plan. It would make him feel so more confident in his intelligence if he was.

When Sensei popped the question about branches, Hideki let a big grin spread on his face. From ninjas who always came to the bar, he knew a decent amount about the branches. The main branch ,Sensei spoke about, was the driving force of a village. The bones, brains, and veins you could say. The ANBU branch is the five senses of a village, they work as the Intel corps and along side taking down dangerous missing nin and other baddies. Then the Medical branch is the organs of a village. The ninja in this branch run the hospitals and take care of the wounded. Without one another the whole system would just fall apart. Each one had its checks and balances for the others. While thinking about this Hideki didn't stand up and go answer, he felt like more of a listener type than a teller. He didn't want his assumptions to be wrong so he waited for everyone's answers to come up with a bigger picture of the whole thing.

Hideki listened to the other two student's talk. They basically had the same understanding. but in simpler terms although. He enjoyed the academy at the moment, it gave him the chance to test what he knew about his dream job. Hopefully he wouldn't get in trouble for not answering the question, if he did he would just give his answer, and be alright. For right now he was going to stay quiet and calm.

Kenta sighed, breaking from his streak of silence. He took about 2 minutes to think over his answer, trying to make it more elaborate than his last one. He wasn't really on his best today, he has had so much on his mind recently, about what he would do after School. Although he had to think about what he would do, he needed to actually pass the class before thinking about that stuff. That was one of the many problems with Nara Kenta, he over analysed everything he did. Even now he was over analysing his current situation, when all he should be doing is focusing and passing the class. Besides, this class was suppose to be easy, why is it so hard for him? Kenta shook his head, he was ready to pass this class. "I think the Main Branch are sort of the ones who control Kumogakure. It most likely consists of the Raikage and his Councilors"

Though the effervescent Mr. Hotaka Ryuuka and Ito Hideki did not have any added words for the conversation, the answers from the other students hit the baseline for what the different branches encompassed. They were incomplete answers, though, and Shigeru would right that wrong in just a moment. They all seemed at least knowledgeable enough to know some things, but not nearly enough that they should not pay attention. It was a good crowd to have. ”The Main Branch is indeed the backbone of our great village. They make the majority of the income, and they take on the majority of the missions. To rise to the top of this branch you must excel and have a passion for helping people. If you join this branch you can truly make a difference that will be of your own doing. The medical branch is essential to the health of the village and the shinobi who fight alongside it. By choosing this branch, you will have to compete against your peers for few select spots of great importance. Though, being in this branch will assure that you will be vital to the increased longevity of your allies, which is key to us remaining a vital part of the lightning country.”

Shigeru paused for a moment and used a simple jutsu to summon a mask into his hand. It was white with two eyeholes cut out in it and on the face was the shape of a flame. Shigeru looked at it for a moment, because it represented a part of his life that he had given up a long time ago. The memory slipped past his mind for just a fleeting moment, and then Shigeru was back in the class. He placed the comfortable piece of metal over his face and willed his chakra to hold it there. He hadn’t done that in a long while. Looking at his students now, they would see his red eyes peering at them. “The ANBU are something else entirely. Yes they are the secret assassins of our village, and upon their shoulders is the responsibility to counter any threat without even the public knowing it happened. To become one, you must be chosen, and then you must give up yourself. Maybe even one of you will get into their ranks, but if you do, we will not know it.”

With a snap of his fingers, the mask melted away and Shigeru’s face was revealed, a row of smiling teeth shining down on the kids. “Those are the branches students, so one day you will have to decide which you would like to follow. Though I must say, Main Branch has the most perks, if you know what I mean!” Shigeru let out a sharp laugh, hoping to set the students on the right path. “Now you know who we are, how we are, and why we are. But I want to know. Why do you want to become a shinobi? There was a time when I was a simple performer, but I lost part of my family. To honor their memories, I now fight to protect this village with my entire being. That is why I am a shinobi, but why are you on this path?”
