Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Blinding Sun [Exam]

Some of these children happened to have provisions of one kind or another. While the passage of the sun was a novelty to them in all likelihood it too would have served as a marker that they were at the very least traveling in a single direction. Landmarks come and go as the horizon consumes everything, however the celestial bodies above unlike the ever-changing terrestrial bodies they are oft forced to endure were unnecessary as Kagari pulled out a compass. Compasses use the basics of magnetism to ensure that one does not get turned around when covering unfamiliar terrain. Their direction of choice assured thanks to Kagari.

The hungry murder of crows overhead circled the quartet of travelers, of shinobi hopefuls. This would... should be a desperate moment for them, unprepared and forced to face the wilds. In the past the crows themselves were the first victims of the students, their blood being a sustaining fluid, their meat to fill their shrunken bellies. Such would not be a problem yet for these travelers. Many dramatic stories of survival in the desert necessitated not only killing but also doing things that society today would deem inappropriate, disgusting or even taboo. Hopefully these children would not be reduced to drinking their own urine for survival.

Kato went over the pros and the cons of the various locales he 'saw' through his jutsu. Each had their merit, some inherent dangers. He came up with a plan of course, to venture with his crystal eye into the depths of the cavern. An eye can only see, not hear so the voices that came from the cave would be unnoticed but he would see one item of import: there were men in the cavern. Four if he counted. They were older men but 'old' was a term that was relative to only them. They were in their late 20's or early thirties, ancient in the eyes of an academy student but not even middle aged in the scope of things. They were drinking, what was yet another question they would have to discern as they were consuming something from flasks. They were jovial or so it would seem, wide-eyed and blathering on. The layers of cloth that covered their bodies made their fitness level hard to determine but it could be assumed that these men were rather capable considering they did not seem to be in distress in the desert. On the hip of two of the men was a saber, as for the other pair at this time it was unknown as to whether or not they were armed.

Meanwhile, the sun continued to bear down on the unfortunate group of Genin-hopefuls. A barrier was erected around and over the group while they made a plan. It did not change the stifling heat but it may have made the large hot sun a bit less painful. These kids were going to be returning home with the sunburn of their lives. Hmmm the winds whispered, the gentle melody of the breeze persisted. It was time to make a choice: where to go.

::What Happened?::
 • Kagari has a compass.
 • Noroi has food and is sharing it.
 • Kato is maintaining crystal eye, looking into the cave. He sees men in there.
 • A barrier is erected to protect them from the elements.
 • The player temperature is 99.5 degrees F, slightly reduced from the 100 degrees it would have otherwise been due to the barrier.

”I see… well a few things. Its hard to say but… Kagari may I borrow that compass for a moment?"

Kagari handed the compass over to Kato, curious to see what information that he's been gathering with his eye jutsu. 'We're pretty lucky he came around for this exam. He seems to have the most skilled in terms of ability...' Kagari mused in his head, genuinely thankful for his presence.

</COLOR>
“The only problem is,” he admitted, “The longer it takes us to decide, the hotter it gets and the more we bake in the sun. But, if you want my opinion…” Kato paused for a moment, considering their options before he continued.

"Don't remind me..." Kagari said as he could start feeling the heat. "First the extreme cold in the spirit world and now the desert sun? When am I ever going to go somewhere normal for once..." Kagari muttered to himself.

<COLOR color="#004000"> “The cave seems like a good place to start. It might not be a bad idea to wait out the heat in there, and try traveling by night when the desert gets cold… the only problem is we don’t know what’s in the cave. Since Noroi has a gourd of water that should last us at least a little bit, so I’m sort of leaning away from the oasis or the patch of cacti…”

Kagari thought for a moment, weighing the pros and cons of moving torwards the cave. 'We have to go somewhere, and we definatley can not stay here.' Kagari thought to himself as the cawing of the crows grabbed his attention again. 'Those things will defaintley eat on our corpses if we stay out here....We're limited on resources between the four of us and wandering aimlessly is a serious terrible idea.' Kagari cursed mentally as he was played with some of the corse sand.

"I don't see anything else around here, an oasis or a settlement. If that cave is the closest thing we got to a shelter, than we better start moving." Kagari stated, finally making a decision.

Umm," she finally spoke up, her voice only able to be heard due to the near perfect silence of the desert. Nervousness and inadequacy squashed her confidence as she softly suggested, "why.. how about... everyone walk in one direction? Lik um... North, South, East and West? Walks like... twenty or... ten minutes or something, or until you see the con... construction stuff? If we hurry, we don't have to be out in the sun long and... stuff."

'....Was that even english?' Kagari, suprised at the finally non-quiet member of the squad. "uhhh....well we can't really go just in any direction but the consruction would be a good sign we're getting close to home...I do agree that we should all stick together instead of splitting up" Kagari sweatdropped a bit. He noticed the girl was not looking at the group directly, as if she didn't want her words heard. 'Another shy one...between redheads and shy ones suna seems to attract alot of the same people...' Kagari sighed as he again turned torwards he mountains.

He noticed that a barrier suddenly rose, feeling a light change in heat. "Is this your barrier Kato? Thank you, but I'd rather you not waste your chakra for something like this." Kagari said as he was impressed with the level of skill that Kato seems to possess.

"Alright, we're heading to that cave that Kato pointed out. It's not the best of options but beggars can't be choosers, especially very hot and sweaty beggars..." Kagari joked a bit. "Shall we finally get started with this exam?"

Noroi waited for them to make a decision, and when the cavern idea came up the wheels in noroi's head began to turn. "caverns…..caves' he thought before the thought of what made the tunnels came up. if something made the tunnels, would they still be there? at least a few of them. Looking at the group to see if they all agreed on. the idea of splitting up and walking in one direction for ten minutes wasn't bad, but they could get picked off one by one and in the scorching heat it was pretty likely that that could happen.

"i-is the c-c-cavern ok? sh-should we wait i-it out until nighttime?" he asked.

nighttime was generally cooler, and they could probably travel faster then in the scorching heat, which made noroi's eyes grow heavy. Reaching into his shirt awkwardly to get the water, his fingers gripped a different bottle. Right, that rice wine he was going to sell today, he had forgotten all about it. letting go of it, but keeping it on his shirt for later, he turned back to the group to await further instructions

It seemed they had come to a decision. The students thought the cave sounded like the best idea, and while Kato’s new intel about the men in the cave gave him caution, it didn’t seem yet like anything that should deter the group, they would just have to be on their toes.
“Well I appreciate your concern, but don’t worry this is just a simple barrier. It doesn’t take much at all for me to maintain it,” Kato assured his teammates.

Standing up, the stocky teen brushed the sand off of his shorts, as the barrier around them slowly began to dissolve, giving only enough time for the four of them to ready themselves for the trip. Checking the compass and ensuring they were headed the right direction toward the cave, Kato tossed the life-saving tool back to its owner.

“Alright, I think we’re ready then. Noroi, make sure to hold onto that water, I think we’ll need to ration some of it before we reach the cavern. Speaking of conserving chakra, I’m going to dispel my crystal eye jutsu while we head for the cave. Next time I use it, I’ll try to look for the steel structure being built… I hadn’t even considered trying to find it,” he admitted with a little embarrassment.

He didn’t want to scare the students by telling them about the men in the cave, so he decided to wait and hold back the information for the time being. He wasn’t going to lead them into unknown danger, but he would wait just a short while. When they were already set on their way to the cave, shortly before they reached the entrance, Kato would warn the others of the men inside. “Don’t be afraid,” he would warn them. One lesson he had learned well during the years spent alone, was that being confident and suppressing your own fear went a long way in achieving what you need to in order to survive. “Just keep your eyes open, and stay close and we’ll be fine,”

((Short post is short... being busy has cramped my creativity as of late))

Well, it seemed the entirety of her point had been not only entirely missed, but she somehow succeeded in getting them to get the exact opposite message than she had intended! Hearing that they all fervently agreed with her mistranslated idea, Yumi's confidence sank down once again as she nervously began tugging at her arm sleeve. The girl kept her silence as the others talked of going towards the cavern, which seemed to be a decent enough of an idea to her, if a distant second option.

Should they look to her to see if she agreed, they would receive a nod of her head in agreement before she averted her eyes once again. As they began their trek, Yumi followed up the rear; sweat beading down her face as the blazing sun overhead buffeted them with its searchingly water hating rays. What were the odds they would die out here? Surely they were low... surely if they would have failed someone would be keeping an eye on them somehow so they could try again at a later date... right?

OC: Sorry about the delay, I took an unexpected sabbatical from the site for the past week. =(

IC:

The trip was short but the journey in the stifling heat over uneven sliding dunes and an unforgiving sun was an arduous one indeed. This would be the first time in all likelihood that some of these young people had even seen the sun, the storm existed for longer than the duration of any of their lives. Those from foreign lands would be familiar with these celestial spaces but not the frightful Sunan sun, a thing of tales for the most part until today. The biting winds carried with them remnants of the diamond maelstrom still, cutting and dangerous for those not fully covered in cloth or leather they would find themselves abraded by this harsh natural element.

After a short time, they reached the mouth of the cavern.

It was large enough to fit even a robust adult easily at the entrance and it seemed to widen as the narrow cave descended into the earth. The cave was cool, it would likely prove to be a welcome respite once they entered the shadows. There was no breeze here yet the air was cool and did not seem stagnant, this is because it was nothing more than a distant capillary essentially of the worm-carved caverns that was likely cut off from the village when the Cabal attacked. During that time the Cabal demonstrated one of the inherent weaknesses of a subterranean village by destroying the tunnels to the surface. All of the tunnels, less the "maw" as they used to call it or rather the Maw of Barynx. The segmented skeletal remains of the great annelid served as a macabre entryway for those who wished to venture into the depths of Sunagakure. The "maw" was left untouched but not without threat, threat that if one dared traverse this place that it too would be destroyed along with the rest of the village. A threat that gripped the village in terror for three days before someone tested the bluff and broke past, only to start a chain reaction that started with the elimination of the last clear path to the surface followed by the destruction of several other buildings and the loss of a great many lives. While an eventual path, one set-aside for the departing Cabal was eventually discovered many of the former tributary-like paths to the surface were eliminated, bottle-necking foot-traffic to the Toraono Dojo.

For those with a keen sense, be it caution, a natural or even honed talent... Voices could be heard. Simple voices, the chatter of men it would seem. Laughter and discussion, the kind of dialogue one would expect to find at a bar rather than a cavern in the wilds. What was said would not be something any there would likely have the talent to discern, however once one of them said a word. Said anything at all, relevant to their presence or otherwise their jabbering would abruptly end. There would be little warning for what would follow: a kunai that was launched from the shadows past them all. The weapon as damaged, rusted and bent. It also missed its mark, who or whatever it was as it buried itself in the sands beyond the adventurers.

It looked like it was time to fight.

OC: OK, this is likely the first modded battle any of you have experienced. No worries it should be quick but likely not painless. What I need is your present jutsus, abilities, weapons, items you have in your inventory, class as well as your actions. Fighting is hard work but it can be very rewarding when you engage it fully.

What Happened?
 • Temperatures are no longer a concern as the cavern is cool.
 • There are people in the cave.
 • These people have decided to attack you.

OOC: Hey Sorry about delay, got busy with midterms coming up and whatnot.

"Well then, shall we finally start this test?" Kagari asked jokingly of course, as it seems the hastily made party was on it's way to their destination. Even though Kato's barrier was protecting them against the sun, it still was that dry, unforgiving heat as they made their way torwards the cave. Hopefully, the tall mountains would envelop them in shadow soon enough. 'I really wish i brought some sun screen or something...I'm going to get third degree burns at this rate...' Kagari thought to himself worringly as he gazed up at the hot sun, seemingly more concerned with skin care rather than the survival of this exam. 'Maybe I should be more worried about the exam than my skin turning darker.' Kagari mused as their destination was shortly approaching.

Kagari could soon feel the temperature drop as he breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the much cooler and welcoming air touch his skin. "Thank God..." Kagari said as he wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead. However, Kagari was alerted at the sound of other voices other than his own or his party's. (Insight Rank D) Kagari turned his attention torwards where the voices were coming from and halted before he made any more movements. Kagari looked back at his party, trying to wave attention to his teamates that he heard a couple of voices when suddenly a kunai flew past the party and into the sand. 'Crap...' Kagari cursed in his head as he now realized that there was no talking anymore. Kagari, backed away slightly getting out his own kunai, and got into a martial pose. "I guess the test really begins now..." Kagari said as he put enough distance between himself and the men in case if they were to try something. Kagari moved closer to Kato and spoke in a hushed, tone. "We need a plan here. I'm not afraid to fight these guys but they aren't going to show us any common decency." Kagari said as he kept an eye on the men and tried counting the number in front of the cave.

"Looks like 4 men, there may be more in the cave. Im thnking of throwing a smoke bomb I got here in my pack and flushing them out...What do you think?"

noroi silently followed the group throughout the dessert, grateful for the barrier protecting them from the blasting heat. he gripped his kunai tightly while they trenched through the sand, but his mind was focused on other things. he kept on looking at the sun for long periods of time, until his eyes began to burn again, however, after each time he stared he could stare just a little longer. it felt rather nice seeing the sun for the first time. it certainly beat the red lights. When the group reached the cave and Kato warned them about the other people, possibly travelers or merchants, noroi gripped his kunai tightly and had his other hand on the gourd of rice wine. if they were merchants perhaps there could be a peaceful negotiation.

"i-i h-have a g-g-gourd of r-rice w-wine…m-maybe we c-could negotiate….." he stammered

Though he did his best to hide his nerves from the others, his senses were on high alert as the four man squad reached the cavern. After Kato’s warning they slowly entered the cool cavern, grateful for the relief from the sun’s stifling heat. The shy boy, Noroi, seemed even more nervous after hearing the warning, and as the group made there way a few feet into the caverns, the boy suggested maybe they would try bargaining with the unknown men. It seemed like a good idea… assuming these men were willing to bargain.

It must’ve been Noroi’s voice that alerted the cave inhabitants to their presence, though the boy couldn’t really be blamed. Kato had been listening carefully, and heard voices, barely audible. The look on Kagari’s face told Kato he heard them too, but the boys hadn’t had a chance to warn the others to keep silent, and moments after Noroi suggested a bargain, a rusty kunai flew out from the darkness and landed in the sand outside the cavern.

Kagari was quick to act, and moved to Kato’s side. “We need a plan,” he said, and offered that he could throw a smoke bomb deeper into the cave to flush the men out. “Good idea, but not just yet,” Kato answered, “As far as we know we could be standing between them and the only way out of this cave… let’s not make them too desperate to get through us,”

Kato formed a couple quick handseals, and readied himself for whatever was about to come. He moved himself so that he was standing between the men hidden in the cave, and the three students he had chosen to protect.

OC: I am fine with skipping her. I hate doing that but I would also like to see you guys finish this thread. It makes it super hard for me to get on the site and make posts as well when they are so far apart and I am sure you guys have your own flow too that requires a flow. =( I am getting very old. As long as you guys have no qualms with it (if so, PM me) I will just skip the player. Will post up Tues (site time), the post is done less that player anyways. =O

Notes:
 1. I can see that you guys have a limited repertoire of jutsus, just use any basic E Rank and I will mod it as if you have it. This is a chance for you to learn and to see what can be done with the fighting system. In all my years on NC I have yet to kill a player. Traumatize them... sure. Injure them... yah. But never kill.
 2. Roll over AP can be up to 1 AP.
 3. There is only summoning sickness on things that state that there is summoning sickness.
 4. When summoning something that has no summoning sickness, you would determine the AP they would have had remaining for the round at the time the summon completed. So if it happened alf way through the round (at 5 sec for example) then they would still have half their AP left. If you are bad at math, you can always ask someone for help with this because it can be complicated.
 5. Mud Clone has no CP or AP to attack with, however it can serve as a source of confusion for your opponents because they would have to pass an awareness check to tell you apart making a secondary target.
 6. They will hit you guys next round.

OC Few things:
 1. Altered the set-up for this forum because there was no 'quick reply' and I did not even notice it before because of how I post. This should make things easier for some people.
 2. Sorry about the delay, I intended to write this mod on the 8th but my significant other's vehicle broke down and it takes a lot of time out of my day to chauffeur him around and to do my daily errands.
 3. Have fun.
 4. Took the liberty of helping you guys get started.

IC:
The four man squad became a three man squad. Where the girl went... nobody knows.

"Well then, shall we finally start this test?"

Sadly, this was not a part of the test, something had went terribly wrong. These bandits were not a part of the examination, in fact nothing in this exam was what was planned. Their proctor had taken it onto herself to sand these youths into the wilds. There was no overseeing ANBU hidden in the mostly absent brush, nor was there a medic hidden in the shadows in case they were injured. These kids were on their own. They made it to the cave, it was much cooler and darker there than the desert was. The sun, likely something none of them had seen in their natural lives past the raging storm had started to burn them. The pallid Sunan flesh was so white it was blinding, but for them it had already turned a rosy pink that would likely turn crispy by the time they got home.

"Thank God..."

Kagari announced as they entered the maw of the cavern. It likely felt like a place of refuge ans safety in comparison to the harsh, unrelenting elements outside. However, they could not be more wrong. A kunai flew past the youngsters.

"I guess the test really begins now..."

Kagari announced. This was true in a way, this would prove to themselves and to each other that they are ready to be shinobi. The life of a shinobi is often short and dangerous.

"We need a plan here. I'm not afraid to fight these guys but they aren't going to show us any common decency."

"i-i h-have a g-g-gourd of r-rice w-wine…m-maybe we c-could negotiate….."

The nervous boy stuttered.

“Good idea, but not just yet. As far as we know we could be standing between them and the only way out of this cave… let’s not make them too desperate to get through us.”

The assuredly oldest among the cell of adventurers reasoned. While that might have been true, to these men a group of children seemed hardly like a threat. From the darkness a trio of men amerged. not the most hygienic of men, it was likely they could smell them before they could see them. Obviously inebriated, one of the men staggered forward. "Wat choo do'n hure?" One of the men slurred as he pulled a rifle from the strap on his back.

Theme Song

"Look atta fatty," the second one announced, his finger pointed at the Akimichi, his other took a swig from his caustic jug of death.

"Wat have you kids get fer us," the third slurred, a dribble of spittle escaping the corner of his mouth.

'Crap, they have guns.' Kagari cursed inwardly as he noticed the armaments on the soldiers. Fighting them was going to be tough, and to make it even more harder the three men had guns. 'If we're going survive this, we need to get up close and disarm these guys; or at least take the guns away from them...' Kagari observed the three men closely, ready to move if they started firing. That smoke grenade idea was going to be essential; ast least mask their presence so they don't get a shot on them. The three men definately looked like bandits, or out in the country; "Banditos". They obviously were very unimpressed by the boys, who were now missing a member...So no more slight number advantage. 'I wonder, are they....drunk?' Kagari mused a bit, noticing the slurred speach and overal hygeine of the men. 'I wonder if they even drink water, they probably just booze to stop getting thirsty.' Kagari looked at the jug of alcohol, and a couple of bottles lying in the sand; probably tequila.
"Look atta fatty," the second one announced, his finger pointed at the Akimichi, his other took a swig from his caustic jug of death.

"Wat have you kids get fer us," the third slurred, a dribble of spittle escaping the corner of his mouth.

'I don't think we can talk our way out of this..' Kagari cursed inwardly. Kagari again turned to Kato, speaking a hushed tone: "They got guns; if we're going to run or fight. we need to do something now." Kagari was ready to move if a fight broke out, eyeing the three bandits in front of him. He did forget somebody else though, Noroi who looked uneasy at the whole situation. Kagari knew his abilities descently after he had a training session with him during a class; but he was unpredictable. His bloodlust can get the better of him in an instant once he's unleashed.

'Ugh, forgot about Noroi...If we're not careful he could be a problem...especially if we can't control him.' Kagari looked at Noroi, slightly shaking; thinking of passing off his gourd of rice as a trade. 'They'll just take all our stuff off of our dead bodies.' Kagari spoke up finally in response to the three men. "Look we're not looking for trouble, we're just passing through...Have you seen a large village gate, carved into the mountains anywhere?" Kagari asked outloud.

Noroi trembled in panic when the three men came out and the foul stench reached his nostrils, causing tears to form in his eyes. He hoped that no one mistook the tears for crying in fear, but with his nervous expression the tears could just as well have been fear tears. looking at the three he didn't see them as much of a threat, but the guns were the main problem that worried him. with guns at the hands of people who were probably drunk or intoxicated with something didn't seem like the best combination. gripping his Kunai tightly he heard voices of his teammates behind him, but he wasn't close enough to understand them accurately or with confidence.

Noroi's breaths became more shallow and thinner as his heart began to pace and beat faster, and faster. Lub Dub. Lub Dub. went the beat of his heart as he began to panic and look around nervously. the kunai in his hand trembled along with him as his instincts took over and he launched himself at the trio in front of him. Noroi moved along towards them in a zig zag pattern to try and psyche them out but more of a way to make it harder to get shot and generally hurt. when he got to close enough to strike, he dropped down and sliced his kunai upwards, trying to cut the wrists as an attempt to get the bandit holding the rifle. if he succeeded he would grab the rifle and hold it close to him, as he wouldn't know what to do after cutting. if the gun didn't drop or noroi missed, he would be pretty vulnerable to a counterattack.

Well, it appeared that a peaceful solution was not in the cards today, or at least if there had been any slight chance left of a peaceful solution, it died when one of the drunken men began to speak. The second man sealed his fate, and Kato was determined to make this man cry. He wouldn’t have known how his words would set Kato off, but he would soon regret it.

Hearing the drunken man call him fatty got Kato’s blood boiling. Weight was a bit of a sore spot in many members of the Akimichi clan, as no matter how much one trained, and worked out, and dieted, it was hard for an Akimichi to end up with a trim and skinny figure, but this did not make them fat slobs. On the contrary the Akimichi clan prided themselves on their robust physical stature, learning over generations how to use it as a weapon in their arsenal. Kato didn’t hear much of what Kagari said to him, but surmised that he was trying to tell Kato that the only way out of their situation was to fight.

“If it’s a fight they want, we’ll squash em like flies,” Kato growled. He performed a flurry of handseals all in quick succession, releasing two jutsu back to back. As a human form began to crawl out from the ground behind Kato, he bit his thumb and pressed his palm to the ground. A cloud of smoke appeared, and drifted through the cave as a dog appeared amidst the men.

Kato didn’t have time to suggest a course of action before Noroi’s nerves got the best of him and he rushed the three men. Kato cursed inwardly, fearing the boy’s rash decision might get him seriously hurt, but he would have to worry about that later. Amidst the confusion he gave Satu an order with a hand signal, and then pointed at the second man, the one who had called him fat. “Fatty? Ha! You think that’s funny? You’re about to regret ever laying eyes on me bud,”
