Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A man covered in filthy rags that covered his body and hid a pock-marked face darted through the Black Market stalls, dodging around patrons and dealers alike as he knocked over both people and marked up rare items onto the ground behind him. All in the vain attempt to stop the older gentleman dressed in business casual with long black hair tied into a pony tail, that seemed to be casually jogging just a few paces behind; the murder in his eyes belied anything else that might be casual.
Uzumoreru Toushin, or Uzu as most knew him, was head of Sunagakure Intelligence. A spy master in all sense of the name, the ex-assassin gathered reports, redacted information harmful to members of ANBU for their mysterious deeds, and submitted the results to the Kazekage. It was a position he earned out of “retirement” from the field. Yet, despite having an office job, a mission would still secretly find its way onto his desk where something needed to be handled personally. There had been a few of these lately, and ever since he started making waves in the Underground through his protege the criminal activity had spiked. A lot of big bads who never had a reason to move or make noise suddenly feared for their lives as the Body Trader mafias started going to war with each other; a war Toushin sparked himself.
The man he was in pursuit of was one of these such ‘big criminals’ that never moved. Only known by the codename “Hiss”, he was a nasty drug peddler that had been in direct control of a number of smaller gangs but kept himself in sheer anonymity. When Kana assassinated the first mafia boss he suddenly decided to come out of hiding and bought a large number of guard to protect his interests. The money used was easily traced as he panic spent for protection. Not even a full twenty-four hours later and all three buildings he had used to create the narcotics were raided. Toushin himself wanted to come down and catch the head of the group to keep a bit of his status among the ANBU as a hard killer. He honestly couldn’t care less if the man lived or died and had little want to end the fool’s life having been in his shoes not but a decade ago, but appearances were far more necessary than he’d like to admit. The amount of things he got done with intimidation helped along nearly all his goals, especially in ANBU where every member was a hardened killer. He hated the term “Alpha Wolf”, but the leadership of a Black Ops organization had to be ruthless or else there would be nothing but constant turn overs.

The drug dealer suddenly jumped up and kicked at a brick wall, shattering the support pillar of it’s back wall and causing the building to slide down into the street; Uzu hopped up the wreckage. When he crested the brick hill his golden eyes caught the man ducking suddenly into an ally he knew was a dead end. With a casual huff the equally casually dressed killer dropped down to the street and walked around the corner towards the dead end, but as he rounded the corner a large wall of fire rushed at him. Toushin brought his arms up in defense and braced for impact as his fury began to boil. He had no way of defending against the attack, but knew he would survive with minimal damage; the fool on the other side no doubt thought he was smart for setting this trap…something he would soon lament.

A large slab of earth would suddenly rise before the man, the flames rushing into and forced to blow around the earthen wall. Portions of the construct would crack and break apart but the fair brunt of the force from the fire had been absorbed with the rest dispersed away. With smoke and rubble naturally starting to settle, the man would see her form squatting in front of him in a weird stance. She didn't bother to look behind her, not peaking over her shoulder but instead shifting her footing, taking a sudden heavy stomp. The stomp dislodged the wall from the earth it had been formed of and as the slab momentarily hovered in the air she would punch outwards. While her frame was anything but impressive as she was only eleven, the force of her punch was enough to suddenly send the remnants of the wall firing forwards towards the source of the fire. This would be when she looked over her shoulder, a sand headband obviously still new tightened around her forehead..

"What the heck is going on!?". She had acted off impulse afterall, having caught up to them just in time to drop down in between the man and the fire.

~ Moments Earlier ~

It was luck, whether good or bad the fates had yet to decide, that she had chosen to cut through this portion of Sunagakure. The area around and that housed the black market wasn't the type of place for a kid to want to be in even if they were a shinobi. If anything being a young shinobi in a place of understood shady practices some with questionable origins, openly went on. She had been bold enough to wear her headband as well and it did serve as a deterrent for the most part, after all it was hard to judge shinobi by just appearance alone. Though her attention was distracted by a peddler who had been speaking of rare ores and rocks, her ears twitching and her focus taken away from the walkway. This would be where she would feel a sudden force grasp suddenly onto her shoulder. It was enough to spin her around with a lurch, forcing the girl to fall into the pathway knocking over one of the peddler's storage trunks and spilling some rocky materials. Others were also brought down by the source, a man that she had enough time to glimpse before he darted into the crowd, continuing his spree of grabbing people like he was panic'd. There hadn't even been enough time to gather herself before a second man more elegantly weaved through the bodies and materials sprawled out along the path. The situation had gotten interesting now because this second man was moving in a way shinobi did and he obviously wasn't the slightest bothered, at least that's what she could tell by his body language.

Looking suddenly to a small alleyway, she'd rush down this alternate pathway knowing that she could catch up to them faster by cutting them off...

To say that Toushin wasn’t flabbergasted by the sight of an earthen wall appearing before him would have been a lie, but he would of told it anyways. Not a single member of ANBU had earthen control like this and the only personnel of the Sunagakure Military that he knew had any real power over such things was a one Harupia; and that was only read reports, Uzu had never met the man. So to also see a child wielding this sort of strength before him took a step out of his staircase of thought. Sunagakure was absolutely famous for having prodigy children who had the potential to grow into absolute monsters, however it was rare that they did. Instead, most of them tended to grow into mediocrity with only a very small handful actually continuing to practice the talents that set them apart from the rest. It was a noble goal, really, to join the military and retire as a Chunnin rank. The pay was enough and it only took ten to fifteen years to earn retirement to live comfortably, so, most soldiers tend to get on with their lives. It took a special kind of mind to throw everything into a career that revolved around a lot of violence.
Yet without the least bit hesitation, that he noticed anyways, this child jumped in front of him and conjured up the ground to do as she asked. He had seen more than his share of “veteran warriors” shy away at such a sight let alone leap in front of a wall of fire. The flames roared beyond the wall and harmlessly over the two as Uzu stood there with a “what the actual hell,” look on his face. Once the flames had died down he regained his composure and returned to his pursuit, giving Chikyu a gentle pat on her head,
Give me a minute, and I’ll explain,” Toushin lied as he hopped onto the top of the wall and then back down. He wasn’t going to tell the Genin everything, but enough. The man on the other side was a criminal wanted for minor drug trafficking and a few other shady businesses he had tried a hand in but, that wasn’t the reason he was now watching the old assassin stalking to his spot. No, that was more set on how much this guy knew about certain operations Toushin was trying to keep secret. While his protege handled the big captains he couldn’t touch, the head of Suna Intelligence picked off the rats fleeing the ship after Kana wrecked their ships on the shores of justice; metaphorically speaking anyways. The sounds of a man begging for his life were cut short by a wet cutting sound, and moments after the assassin was back on top of the wall. His clothing was still impeccably clean.

I’ve been chasing that guy all afternoon! Damn drug dealers trying to peddle wares to kids are a goddamn disease in this city, but you know, I’ve been around for a very long time, and I’ll admit I’ve never seen someone so young have such control with Elemental Chakra. Sure, we got kids that step outside the norm with ability to use Elemental Chakra, but, not to this extent or with such control - I didn’t even see you weave seals.” Toushin rapped the back of his knuckles against the wall before hopping off to land next to the Earthbender without so much as a billow of air to stir the dust when his weight touched the ground - as if he was some kind of ghost.
I-, I mean we,” Toushin quickly corrected himself remembering that he was an extension of ANBU, not the other way around, “could use strength like that in our Corps. I see you have the headband making you officially part of the military, tell me, have you made any choices to your future career as an enlisted?

Did she truly question the sounds that filled both ears after the man had resumed his chase of the suspicious person. It was undeniably morbid to her hearing and although there would be no open questioning, she was immediately put on high alert sensually. After all if what she surmised happened was the truth then someone who could do that so easily was dangerous by innate nature. In the meantime both feet would stomp on the ground in a quick one, two step while both fist punched outwards. The ground would compact where she had previously ripped it up to form the barrier. Remnants of rock from the surrounding fragments that were broken off from the impact with the fire jutsu would be pulled to help refill. Though it was not perfect it was an acceptable repair that would naturally fill in the small depressions left with the drifting sands that blew through the village.

Turning to face him after he resurfaced, she'd wonder if an explanation would be something she'd actually want. Though this was quickly thrown away after he started talking, finding a surprising interest. There hadn't been much thought in regards to where her abilities matched to those of other suna shinobi. She wasn't even sure if the village had seen the Goremu's level of control and their particular style of doing things. How it was put by this man however that seemed to be the case and for the first time a coy little smirk would adorn the edge of her lips. There could be some hope for their clan's name after all...

"Corps? I'm sorry I don't know much about any corps or special squads besides the rank system that the shinobi villages use. I haven't much thought about it though, I haven't been a genin for long so the most I do is low ranked mission to gain experience."

She withheld her name for now, the reasoning coming to her as simple caution. This man spoke of a corps within the military that she was unfamiliar about on top of speaking in a plural sense...just who was this man?

Corps she had asked. For a brief moment the assassin could only stare down at her in bewilderment. Most students were given a sheet before the Genin test that was to be filled out, and once the test was over directed which part of the military they would be best suited for. Of course, it was all voluntary in the end with only the proctor recommending fields. Toushin felt a bit of ire striking up on his tongue when he remembered how damn old he was. Things in the village had changed throughout the last century, and the old practice of funneling talent may have stopped in the last few decades without him knowing. To be true, if he had ever talked to his future son-in-law about his time at the academy he probably would of known that by now that such old ways had been long gone. Suna’s military was just barely turning out soldiers, and most of them ended up retiring in their late twenties to live normal lives or at least put themselves on reserve; ironic since now that’s all they really had right now. Then there was also the fact that a lot of the newer soldiers were all refugees from the current hoo-ra that was outside the steely walls. Maybe Sunagakure was handling them with kid gloves until they were certain which family names were honorable and which were just looking for power. Staring deep into Chi’s eyes for a moment the ANBU took a quick assessment from her reaction before deciding to just tell her anyways. If she turned out to be one of those seeking power, the girl’s name would eventually cross his desk one day anyways.

There are three branches of the military,” Toushin started by raising up a hand with three fingers, “The first is called Main Branch. They are the general soldier and have what I like to call “All Rounders”, who are fighters that are quick to adapt to the situation as needed.
The second,” he continued folding the ring finger, “are Medical. They do as exactly as they sound, but, I’ve also noticed it’s where the greatest source of Ninjutsu Taboo is, next only to the nonsense that goes on in the Underground…and it’s also mostly just one person. Ryuu Tama. Avoid him if you can.”
The third and final,” he lowered the middle finger so that only his index remained, “are known as the ANBU Corps or Black Ops. We, are combat specialists, secret police, and tools used to pry open an enemies defense where they least expect it. I currently work in ANBU, doing things like…say, removing an individual who can’t be removed through normal means, or tracking down people who normally can’t be; we have our ways. In a lot of ways, my branch holds up the Law by working beneath it while trying to not outright break it.
You know, I’m actually a little surprised they didn’t mention the three branches in your schooling. Tell me, are you from Sunagakure originally?”

The assassin then casually crossed his arms waiting for a reply. She seemed honest, but he knew people who were just slightly older that currently had the entire city fooled to as rather she lived or not. It wouldn’t matter, much, what Chikyu told him as he’d find out one way or another, but she had the opportunity to build trust with a current leader in the ANBU force. No doubt it could come in handy one day.
