Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Chore duty (shira)

Nani was able to answer all of her questions with two simple word. “Yes and No” But of course Shira would want her to explain. “I’m not quite sure how to phrase it.” She sits down trying to think how to put it into words. The green flame that engulfs her flickers and dissipates. The demons are thus broken from their trace and scatter. “The spell only seals demons in things that look like living things, but not necessarily a doll.” Nani was not sure if she was making any sense and was a little surprised that Shira asked nothing about her mantle of flame. "And yes I did learn the spell from Auntie's book"

"So, the whole fire thing and the 'formal proposal' all leading up to the actual use of an incantation is part of the sealing? Seems like some type of grandure ritual to me. And why exactly does that glow of yours stupify them? You hadn't even done anything beforehand." Shira felt a headache coming on. This was far too complicated to really grasp apparently. Might as well just rack all of this logic up to 'magic' and 'folklore'. Taking a moment to pause, her mind rolled over the events she had just witnessed. The strange fire glow the girl had, the words, the demons that appeared as if in a trance, and the now doll sealed fox. It was interesting, but there was some gain in this. So, it if looks like a living thing, it can be sealed. Perhaps it could potentially be reversed as well. All good questions. Though, Shira chose a different route, making sure to get Nani's attention. "Nani, I would like to ask a favor. Is there any chance you could teach me how to do that? I'm willing to give you anything you want in exchange. You've caught my interest, and that is not something easily accomplished. Will you at least accept my friendship?" Shira reached out again with her hand, seeing if the girl would take it. She didn't mean her any harm and even if Nani could help her no further, the girl was still special. Shira also realized quickly that she was putting everything she had on the line, but perhaps she needed to take more risks with people in her life.

Nani picks up the white fox plushie and hold it out towards Shira. “Look into his left ear. You see the mark?” She pauses for a confirmation. “This is the mark of a demon sealed.” She put down the doll and pulls up her shirt to reveal the same mark on her stomach. “This is how I can make the fire that attracts demons.” In other word she had a demon sealed within her. It was a demon of desire feeding on her need for friendship. She enticed Nani with promises of making her wishes come true. So far Nani has yet to see the downside to her decision. "I'm afraid teaching how to make the flame is imposible.

Shira looked into the foxes ear and nodded. The symbol in the ear and then Nani's own were the same. She wasn't very familiar with this kind of stuff though. Although, Nani's description was a bit disappointing considering Shira had no chance of learning it herself. Oh well. Easy come, easy go. It was just a whim anyway. Shira was a bit concerned now though. If that was the mark of a sealed demon, and Nani had one, then that would mean the same for her. "I see. So it's special. How long exactly have you been able to do that then?" Shira wondered what kind of complexity she was getting into. No wonder Nani was close to stuffed animals instead of people. She had been isolated and taunted her entire childhood, Nani's case seemed worse than her own. Shira wasn't going to let that happen to anyone else, regardless of circumstances.

Nani thought about it for a moment for it has been a while. “I think since I was five. My auntie always was strange for collecting odd things. One was a mirror that showed what a person desires. In the center of the mirror was the same mark. Someone sealed her in the mirror by using their own reflection. The demon knew of the book and promised to make what I see come true and she did. I’m sorry that your demon is not as kind as mine. I guess I should count myself lucky” Or ignorant.

Shira thought over what Nani had said. All these things seemed like cursed items, with the affliction of a demon's presence. "Nani, I understand that the demon said she was going to help you, but demons seldom help without asking for some kind of compensation, even the nice ones. And there is probably a reason for it being sealed. I might be wrong, considering all my demon ever does is take from me, but has it ever asked for anything in return? Has it ever done anything that might be considered odd behavior?" Shira was walking a fine line. Nani seemed to like her demon, which makes it a lot harder to discuss this important issue with. If one hated their demon, there was usually resentment so they are more willing to believe in the possible dangers, but this was to complete opposite. "I'm not trying to offend, I'm just curious. I want you to be careful."

Nani did not feel like answering Shira, so she lets the demon explain herself. Nani’s voice deepens to a mature women’s in her 30’s. “All I asked was freedom from that cursed mirror.” Nani sits on a box in an almost provocative pose. “As for the reason I was sealed that is simple. I’m a demon and that’s all there is to it. I assume you have the same sentiment.” She then fixes her pose to a more proper position. “I was human once. I was consumed by lust and I became every man’s desire. Who knew death would be my punishment for my excess. I heard of stories of those who became demons after death for uncontrollable greed. But I thought they were only stories until now.”

The change in Nani's voice, had Shira's eyes narrowing. She wasn't talking to Nani anymore. I told you to get away from her...if you forget, I was your best friend when you were a child. I care for you, foolish girl. But no, I'm evil, let's just go get yourself killed. BAH! Shira paid Nydira no mind. She'd seriously had enough with demons for her lifetime. Shira listened to this newcomer and scoffed. "Freedom? Of course you would! You're a demon! I don't care if you were human once, you aren't anymore and it's your own fault as to what you've become. If you had just kept your legs closed, maybe you wouldn't be in this predicament." Shira wasn't one to sympathize. She was willing to see both sides, sure, but sympathy was not usually involved. "And don't assume you know what I think. Personally, I don't believe sealing a demon is the answer. All of you manipulate your hosts, or some human that comes along, desperate enough to play into your hands. At least Nydira can't take control of me." Shira huffed. Some old scars were coming up and it wasn't of the good kind. Perhaps she wasn't going about this rationally. You, thinking unrationally? What? Of course not. That's just ridiculous. Perish the thought. Shira could practically hear that eye roll. Shira took a step back and calmed herself. "So, you get your freedom. Nani gets what you promised her. Don't you think you're only hurting her though? What happens if your deal were to stop being so 'ideal'?"

Shira struck a low blow and she did not take kindly to it. She stands up to Shira’s face yelling. “Don’t you lecture me about my sins. I’ve learn that lesson a long before you were born and I don’t need some young dame rubbing my nose in it? You don’t know how it is to have an abusive father. To be taught that the only way to gain acceptance is through the body.” Like Shira she too took a step back to come down. Neither of them would come to an understanding like this. “I’m only able to talk because Nani lets me. She’s a strong girl.” Lies for she could easily take over a young mind as Nani effortlessly, but that is not her style. She prefers to sit back pulling only little threads to guide Nani to the direction she wants. “She edited the deal. I did not suggest placing me within her. I did not tell her to use the spell to seal other demons into dolls.” However she did have Nani use the sealing spell rather than an unsealing spell. So did the demon plan this? Yes, but she did it in a way that Nani would not even notice. “With the spell she can remove me at any time, but why would she want to.” She looks at the cross around Shira’s neck, “You say sealing a demon is not the answer and yet you wear a pendant just for that purpose. You’re nothing but a hypocrite?”

Shira rolled her eyes. Of course she wouldn't understand. Shira sighed, she wasn't going to get angry, she wasn't going to yell, she was going to sit back and calmy address the situation. Shira leaned back on an empty stand's pole and looked off. "I'm sorry. I wouldn't understand at all, having an abusive father. Just one that spent every second trying to kill me since I was born, beating me when my mother wasn't looking, telling me I was garbage and a sin to the world. This curse wasn't my fault, but did that matter? No. I wasn't wanted; I was a disgrace. And you know what I did? I killed him. Murdered him in our home when I was seven. My mother commited suicide because I'm a monster. So fine, I don't know what it's like to taught that the only way to get things is by using your body, but all I've ever known is hatred." Shira kicked some of the ground and looked back at Nani's possessed body. Shira had an inkling that maybe the demon wasn't letting on to her power as much as was expected. Regardless of her words, demons had a way of talking around a situation. Though, Nani did seem very attached to this demon, perhaps it was of her own accord and the demon was simply using the benefit of it. It wasn't her business."Nani's a child. I believe she's strong, but how is she to know better?" Shira shrugged. She didn't have all the facts. Though, the mention of her own seal had her moving forward to stand in front of the demon, a glare set. "I didn't put this on. Someone who hated me and Nydira, both, put this on me. I can't remove it on my own or ice flares out and pierces my skin. You call me a hypocrite when it's against my own will? Take it off then, anyone can." Shira crossed her arms, waiting to see what she would do. You. Are. An. Idiot.

She bursts into a laugh, “So I stand corrected on multiple accounts. You and I seemed to have walked similar paths.” She smiles for this was so interesting. She never had someone she could relate to that had such negativity towards her before. “But what is that you call a curse. To me it was my father and the same can be said of you. I’m sure your answer would be Nydira for without her your father would not hate you. On the other hand without her you would not exist. You have to at least thank her for that.” She walks around Shira in a circle with her hands behind her back. “Nydira might not be as evil as you believe. You said you killed your father at 7. I doubt that was your decision. It sounds like she was trying to protect you from a father that will surely have killed you. You are the cursed child and death would have been the easiest way to remove it.” She stops in front of Shira and looks towards her. “Did you ever consider Nydira to be a protective force or did you simple resist her, thus causing her to lash out to get your attention.” In the demons mind the solution to Shira’s problem is not complete separation of the two entities, but a fusion of the minds. "When was the last time you two really talked to each other?"

Shira started to feel a bit uncomfortable having a demon circling her, observing her. She refused to move an inch of her body, though. Instead, her eyes simple followed as best they could while she listened. It was a bit disconcerting hearing the demon laugh and comparing them, saying they were alike. She didn't want to feel that, think that, know that. It was almost like her mind was being toyed with. "You say she wishes to protect me, but who will she have to do her bidding if I am gone? She's protecting me to help herself. No one is capable of finding the book she's sealed in but me. Of course she wouldn't want to see me killed. That would ruin her plans at freedom." She thought back to when Nydira was simply posing as her doll, the one her mother gave her, Kokoro. She almost missed those times. It was lonely as a child and the doll was her friend, the one she would tell all her secrets too, do anything for. Then she realized that Kokoro wasn't real. She was just some acursed demon that could be heard in her mind. The reason her father was dead, the reason her mother is dead, the reason her foster brother hates her, the reason she has no friends, everything was Nydira's fault from the beginning. Shira meets the eyes of the demon with her own, with those identical to Nydira's, when she stops in front of her. "We were best friends when I was a child. I didn't know her intentions, I didn't understand that the thoughts I had were wrong, but I did care for her and to some degree I believe she might have cared for me. But then everything was ruined, smashed to pieces. I went into a coma, she was blocked out. This seal was placed on me and that was the end of it. We haven't talked in almost four years. I heard her for the first time in years when one of Nani's lesser demons broke this, but anymore, I just want my mind as my own. For now, I can choose to block her out by will, though she obviously isn't happy. What is protection worth, though, if I do not have my sanity?" A good question posing a good answer.

Her words seemed to fall on death’s ears. “Mother Suna preserve us; what fools these mortals be. To deny Nydira is to deny yourself. You were born with her and thus she is part of you. She makes up who you are. She is as much as you as your ears or your eyes. To reject her is like a blind man rejecting the fact that he cannot see. He may not like it, but he must accept that he is blind and get on with his life. When you came out of your mother’s womb Nydira was with you. Both of you saw, heard and felt everything together. You were one. When you father beaten you and called you trash, you rejected a part of yourself. It is this separation that is the cause of your struggle. If you truly want inner peace, you must accept her for what she is; a part of you. Removing her is not the answer. To remove her is to kill a part of yourself. For a moment you might feel happy that she is gone, but you will always feel empty and that emptiness can never be filled.” Nani grabs the cross. “I will take this off only if you are willing to accept yourself. Otherwise I will only create further struggle.”

"Then I suppose I shall continue to live in ignorance, for I am not giving up my mind so she can take it over. She isn't me, if that were so then we would both work towards my happiness, my betterment, but no, she just lives to make my life shambles of what it could be. I can't accept something like that." Shira reached a hand up to touch the collar. A crack of ice sparked and coated the side of her neck. "I may not like wearing this, but it gave me my mind back. To remove it...I don't know what would happen." Shira looked at her. What was the point of this arguing? Shira and Nydira were on polar opposite sides. One would always be fighting for the dominance of being heard over the other, and Shira usually ended up losing. You don't even try. You assume. You're even scared to admit she's right. You just want to deny everything. You aren't worth anyone's time because you're too concerned about yourself. Shira paused. She didn't know if she was being baited or informed, but she hated someone telling her she wasn't trying or that she could never do something. If anything, she wanted to prove Nydira wrong. "Perhaps you're right. Fine, remove it."

[ooc: Yay color!]

The demon sees an ice shard appear as Shira‘s hand comes near the cross. So she was not kidding about that after all. This will kill her only if she takes it off right. “Are you sure, there is no turning back.” Suddenly her hand flinches of the cross like it burned. “No! This is wrong.” It was nani’s voice again and she seemed very afraid. She was scared that she was about to do something not right. “Ai is confused. Nydira exist outside of you not in you. You’re not sharing a body. She’s just speaking to you.” How was she speaking to Shira anyways? Was it like a microphone and head set? Then there is the cross. Does the cross jam the signal? If that’s the case, does Nydira know what happen during the time Shira wore the cross. “You haven’t talked to Nydira in a while now because of the cross. Does Nydira know what happened during that time?” Nani was strangely interested in how the cross worked.

Shira had been prepping herself for what she knew would come if the seal was removed. There was almost like an anxious rush that accompanied it; like watching something happen at a slower pace, as she touched the cross itself. Shira was so focused and concentrated on the event that she jumped when she had flinched when the hand was withdrawn and suddenly Nani's voice was back. Shira's brow furrowed. Who's Ai? Was that the name associated with the other voice? Maybe. Still, Nani sounded panicked, but she was understanding the curse at least. "It's fine. I can handle it. Yeah, Nydira doesn't exist inside me, but she's still apart of me in ways. I understand this might sound a bit complicated, but when my ancestor gave his wife that potion, it contained a bit of Nydira's chakra, and ultimately some of her. However, the chakra would simply exist, passing on down the line until a female child was born. That's how her power works. I contain a small part of Nydira, but not all of her. That is how we are bound. That is how the curse is fulfilled." Shira looked at the cross, but refrained from touching it. For so long she had hated this thing, wanted it removed, but then the voice stopped, the control was there. Now, she wasn't sure what she wanted. "The purpose of this cross, it locks away that part of Nydira. So, no, she wasn't aware. She was unable to do anything, most importantly, speak with me. She is left completely in the dark, cut off from that part of herself and me. I believe that is why she is furious with me. When the seal cracked, that part of her chakra was able to be accessed again. I am just able to control what slips past. Without this, it is impossibly hard to deal with." Shira looked back at Nani, wondering if she was back for good, or if that thing, Ai, was coming back. Her situation was complicated for sure, but she could never fully be controlled like that.

So Nani was right it was like a headphone and mic. But why is she going after the transmitter, when she can destroy the receiver. “If Nydira’s chakra is the reason she can speak to you. Then what would happen if you would purify yourself.” Nani looks at Mimi who was starting to feel ignored. “Mimi didn’t the priestess can to go through a purification ritual.” Mimi nods, but warns her that it was a rite of passage. The oasis that the ritual is held is guarded by the spirits of former priestesses. Only those who can prove themselves worthy can enter. “But how?” Mimi shrugs for she did not serve the priestess at the time. “I think there might be a way, but it might be dangerous.”
