Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"Wow..." A young man stood there, frozen in awe as he gazed at the gate of Dragon Tooth Pass. People passed around him minding their own business, some of the muttering under their breath; "tourist" as the passed by. Kagari couldn't help it, he had heard about it in passing from the convoy he travelled with about the size of the gates that guarded Kumogakure, but no words could truly describe the sight before his eyes. As he stood off to the side with his pack in tow, he observed the various people pass through the large gap. There were various merchants, shinobi and other travellers that crowded the gates. Kagari would be able to "enjoy" the full experience of Kumo's gates due to crowds. He wanted to take in the sights as this was his first time in Kumo, so playing tourist was on his agenda. Although he didn't plan to visit every tourist attraction in the village, he was on a tight schedule after all. It was starting to get colder, and venturing into the mountains alone in search of a fox contract could be considered suicide. Maybe when he was done, he could take a little bit of time to enjoy his "vacation". Taking his place in the line to gain entry into the village, he began observing some guards on the high walls overlooking the entry path. It was practically a fortress if anyone had ill contempt against the village; they would first meet its vanguard guarding the gates. Kagari had to be careful here, he was representing his village now and had to be on his best behaviour. His ANBU status won't help here, in fact, it would probably hinder him if they learned a Suna Agent was walking the streets. But he wasn't here to make trouble...hopefully...

Osu sighed as he watched from the top of the gates. Somehow while reuniting with his old acquaintances Biru and Tedo they had somehow used their confusing dialect to get him to agree to cover their shift so they could go... get some sort of... excellent frozen treat? He was never quite sure with those two. Well the season for eating most frozen treats was almost over considering that the snow was starting to stick again. Osu sighed thinking how many young drinkers and foreigners would be forced to come to the hospital for underestimating Lightning Wine this year. They really needed to start telling people that despite the taste it had an extremely high alcohol content.

Osu noticed some signalling from below. The merchants on one hand were all split up into separate lines and their goods were checked at the checkpoints. Not many non-merchants came all this way though so they were given a bit extra attention. The grand majority of them were people requesting something of the village but occasionally... Osu looked down at the person he was being signaled to talk to... Well at the very least they didn't seem like they came from some countryside village. Osu hopped down from the top of the gates (which surprised some people new to the sight) while somehow managing to keep his yukata from flapping around, and landed gracefully without leaving a print in the snow.

The slightly short, 15 ( going on 16) year old feminine figure walked forward to meet with their assigned stranger. They had an exhausted yet polite tone which distorted an otherwise lovely voice “Hello there, my name is Osuteno, could I get you to come over to the side with me to answer a few questions? It shouldn’t take long, and you won’t have to wait behind all the merchants.”

Assuming the individual didn’t want to spend the next hour or so waiting for the merchants in front of him to make it through the security checkpoints, Osu would lead them to one of the security offices to the side. The first thing the visitor might notice is that the room was heated.

“Is this your first time coming to Kumogakure? Many aren’t prepared for the difference in temperature from the bottom of the mountain up to our village. How about I put on some tea while we go through the form real quick.” Without really waiting for an answer because Osu had been dying for some tea all morning to help keep himself awake. He really needed to stop going days without sleeping, but he always had work to do. At least his body didn't physically show signs of it or people might force him to take breaks more often.

Getting out a form, Osu began again, “Now to get started while we wait for the pot to get hot… What would be your name, place of origin, affiliations if you have any, occupation, and reason for your visit be. If you have any sort of identification that would also be helpful.” Honestly it was all a really roundabout and more polite way of asking if they were going to cause any trouble.

There was one thing that Suna and Kumo had in common when it comes to travel; Lines. Kagari could tell that it was going to take an hour or two of what felt like endless waiting for his turn to get into the village. He sighed, realising instead of appreciating the sights he should have stood in line. It was probably why the various people who passed him while he was gazing rushed for their spot. While he liked it or not, he had to wait. In his head, he wondered how far he would get if he made a straight b line into the village. Luckily for him, a saviour appeared from the skies, literally. Hearing a few gasps from the crowd, he turned his head towards a new figure approaching him. The person, clearly a shinobi as he reasoned that they probably just hopped off the top of the gates and landed softly on the ground below. A nice display of skill considering their attire, a dark yukata that didn't look very warm in the cold but yet, this person wasn't bothered by the weather. The saviour introduced himself once he was face to face with Kagari, "Hello there, my name is Osuteno, could I get you to come over to the side with me to answer a few questions? It shouldn’t take long, and you won’t have to wait behind all the merchants.” Kagari was a bit dumbstruck for a moment, the person in front of him looked very effeminate, yet there was something in the back of his head that told Kagari that Osuteno was in fact male. Realising that in his time trying to play "guess the gender", he hadn't given an answer. He promptly spoke. "Sorry about that, I'm a bit tired from my travels. Sure." Kagari gave a small bow of respect to the Cloud nin. Said nin would beckon Kagari to follow, the teen would pick up his belongings and would follow. A few in lime scoffed, displeased that someone could just quickly cut in line to get into the village.

Osuteno would lead Kagari into one of the small offices that sat at the bottom of the wall, a few shinobi and workers occupied the room doing either paperwork or talking to other travellers inside. Kagari noticed that once he was inside the office, the temperature rose up several degrees. It was clear that it was heated inside, so he took off his fleece, or else he might begin to melt in it. Taking a seat at one of the empty tables, Osuteno would start to ask Kagari a few basic questions about his travel. “Is this your first time coming to Kumogakure? Many aren’t prepared for the difference in temperature from the bottom of the mountain up to our village. How about I put on some tea while we go through the form real quick.” "Yes, this is my first time in Kumo....I'm more of a coffee person but sure, I would welcome some tea." Before Kagari could give that last answer, his helper disappeared; probably to make said tea. Osuteno would return, with a paper form in hand. “Now to get started while we wait for the pot to get hot… What would be your name, place of origin, affiliations if you have any, occupation, and reason for your visit be. If you have any sort of identification that would also be helpful.”

"My name is Kagari Toshiwakai; I'm visiting here from Sunagakure. Technically, I wasn't born there actually, but due to circumstances I live there now." Kagari wouldn't get into too many details about him; this person wasn't here to hear his entire life story so far. He would reach in his pack and grab his newly acquired passport from the Suna and place it on the table for Osuteno to see. "I am a registered shinobi in Suna, with some vacation time on his hands. I'm here mostly to see the sights in the village but...I'm planning to venture out into the mountains eventually."

Osu sighed in relief when he saw the passport. That made everything so much easier. Osu smiled more warmly now. He wasn't dealing with a criminal or anything but a shinobi of a respected village. Osu took the passport and started recording the information on it. "This will really speed things up, its always a hassle when people don't have passports you know. Once had to turn someone away after they came all the way from Sand Country to deliver a letter because they didn't have any form of identification, thankfully I could still take the letter for them... I think that turned out to be the letter for the wedding invitation from Daimyō Ishii Shirō and the intervillage exams. The envoy was a nice enough woman, horribly underdressed for our winter though. She also seemed to think snow was some type of really cold dirt instead of water. That bit surprised her immensely if I recall correctly."

As he finished recording the information he gave a polite nod and an "I'll be right back." He then took the passport and form to another room so someone could confirm they said the same things and wasn't influence by genjutsu, and then they took the form to make sure the passport wasn't marked as a criminal in their books. They came back fast enough and there didn't seem to be any communications from Sunagakure about them so it was all clear. Osu came back to the table with two cups, a pot of tea, and the passport.

"Here you are," Osu said sliding the passport across the table and filling up the cups before enjoying a sip himself. Oh goodness he needed this.

"Everything looks good on our end, and you are cleared to proceed. Not that I have any worries, but please do respect the laws of Kumogakure. Please avoid littering, sparring outside designated sparring zones, using public transportation such as cable lifts as platforms when roof hopping, roof hopping on government buildings, excessive public drunkenness, eating the yellow snow... really just use common sense. If anyone gives you trouble it is best to wave someone over to take care of them than handling them yourself just so we can all avoid a mess of paperwork, though we have very few hotheads around here who would try to force a challenge on you so I doubt you will have much trouble. Now do you have any questions concerning accommodations or anything? If not feel free to head on through that hallway or enjoy some more tea." Osu was certainly enjoying his second cup.
OOC: You can enter now if you want to. Ask any questions you feel the need to ask If you want, Osu is very helpful, but otherwise enjoy your visit. ^_^

Osuteno would smile at the sight of Kagari's passport, and begin to jot down the information on the form. "This will really speed things up, its always a hassle when people don't have passports you know. Once had to turn someone away after they came all the way from Sand Country to deliver a letter because they didn't have any form of identification, thankfully I could still take the letter for them... She also seemed to think snow was some type of really cold dirt instead of water. That bit surprised her immensely if I recall correctly." Kagari's eyebrow perked up at the last part, were some people from sand that ignorant about the rest of the world? "Poor girl, I hope she didn't get into to much trouble when she returned home. I guess the Daimyō wasn't all too pleased." Once Osu was done recording the information from the passport, he would excuse himself, taking the passport and form he had just filled out. While he waited for the who Kagari finally settled on saying was a male. Kagari wondered in his head if Osuteno was a Haku like his grandfather and Saburou who had effeminate features. Regardless, he heard his friendly helper come back. "Here you are," Osuteno would return promptly, this time with a teapot and two clay cups along with his passport. The passport he would return to Kagari, sliding it across the wooden table. He then filled the two cups with the hot tea; taking a sip. He looked pretty satisfied, he seemed to be in need of the hot drink desperately. Kagari took his cup and smelled it, a rich aroma of ginger and honey filled his nose. He took a sip of it as well and enjoyed its taste. It was nice drinking something hot and steamy during the cold weather.

Osuteno would begin to pour himself a second cup of the tea once he was finished informing Kagari of the rules. "I'm not exactly ready to return outside into the cold, so if you don't mind I'm going to take my time to enjoy this." Kagari smiled and drank his tea. "I do have a few questions though." Kagari placed his tea on the wooden table and got out a small notebook from inside his coat.

"Would you happen to know if there are any members of the Haku clan in Cloud? Or someone associated with them? And...regarding the large snowy peak, the 'momemntum deo'. Is there someone I could talk to in the village about it's conditions and how to prepare to climb it?"

Osu blinked when... Osu suddenly realized there was something confusing. The individual referred to himself as Kagari Toshiwakai but he was fairly sure that Kagari was listed as the given name on the passport... Wasn't it? No he was fairly sure it was... Did people in Sand have their family name after their given name? Which was more polite to use then... Oh bother...

Wait his thoughts were getting off track. "I have seen a few people with the Haku bloodline though not the name, but never really interacted with them personally outside of the morgue and I see so few otherwise... Oh goodness, that sounds strange with no context. I am a doctor, I’m just covering a shift for some friends... I'm sorry but did you say you wanted to… Monumentum Deo is the largest and second most dangerous mountain in a country known for large and dangerous mountains. Surely you don’t intend to make an expedition to the top this close to the snowy season? Raiden’s glory, I doubt you could find anyone willing to let you, much less help you climb it this late in the warm season. I know it is rather warm outside but in a week or two it is going to be rather cold, particularly higher up in the mountains. Even in the middle of the warm season Monumentum Deo is considered an A Level Winter Survival Zone once you go so far up. The mountain itself is unnaturally cold, some say that is due to Raiden making it a true challenge for those who wish to taste of his glory.”

Osu got out a spare form and flipped it to the blank side and began drawing, “The five mile height itself is rather intimidating though if that were all most shinobi could climb it without too much effort with proper training and even a few hobbyist climbers among those without chakra talent though for them especially the thinning of oxygen as you go up gets terribly rough. If you climb too fast it can do terrible things to your body, kill you even if you don’t take a few days to acclimatise near certain height marks that grow more frequent the higher you climb. However as I suggested before the real danger is the cold. At its warmest the base of the mountain is about… let’s use fahrenheit since it makes the scale a bit more noticeable… 28 degrees is the record high temperature in the middle of the warm season, and during the warm season it drops about 3.5 degrees every thousand feet you climb. The warm season is only about 3-4 months of course. During the winter, stormy, and second winter seasons… Well it starts off, let’s say 10 degrees for the record high for a winter season and it drops 5 degrees… consistently… for every thousand feet you climb, which goes back to the unnaturally cold bit.” Osu looked up at the desert dwelling ninja to see them process that for a 26000+ tall mountain. "That is before factoring wind chill."

Osu wasn’t even going to mention the stormy season. As far as he knew no one had climbed that mountain in the season of storms since Raiden himself was mortal. Wait…

“Oh goodness I started rambling didn’t I? Well… Whatever business you have there, hopefully somewhat near the base, I would definitely suggest getting it done with within the next… two weeks. Actually make that a week and a half. Otherwise death is almost assured for those not used to winter hazards… If you do plan on climbing it… Could you leave a letter with the Main Branch office expressing you were made aware of the dangers?” Osu asked with an apologetic smile. “Mostly so if anything does happen to you… well... so there won’t be any diplomatic troubles?”

Ah saying in case if they die the village didn’t want to be blamed for the death was terribly awkward.

Sadly, Osuteno didn't know anyone related or affiliated with the Haku clan in Cloud, except if they ended up dead. That was rather morbid, but Kagari wondered if there were any members in cloud. This seemed like the perfect place to be because of it's colder climate. It looked like Kagari's search in the mountains for a few foxes would be up to him. But Osu's warnings about the mountain were what concerned Kagari the most. The fact that it was starting to get colder, and the conditions more extreme; the teen could either get trapped or possibly die in the blizzards. But Kagari was determined to make it up the mountain. "Well, unfortunately, I have to get up there regardless despite a God making it his over the glorified freezer." Kagari took another sip of his warm tea; he would have to start his journey either tomorrow or the day after that. Osuteno would then take another form and flip it to the blank side and begin to draw a rough layout of the mountain, “The five mile height itself is rather intimidating though if that were all most shinobi could climb it without too much effort with proper training and even a few hobbyist climbers among those without chakra talent though for them especially the thinning of oxygen as you go up gets terribly rough. If you climb too fast it can do terrible things to your body, kill you even if you don’t take a few days to acclimatise near certain height marks that grow more frequent the higher you climb. During the winter, stormy, and second winter seasons… Well it starts off, let’s say 10 degrees for the record high for a winter season and it drops 5 degrees… consistently… for every thousand feet you climb, which goes back to the unnaturally cold bit.

"Sounds dangerous...I wonder how foxes live up there?" Kagari paused. "Uh never mind, sorry. Continue please." Kagari would continue to listen to Osuteno's advice on tackling the mountain. "Oh goodness I started rambling didn’t I? Well… Whatever business you have there, hopefully somewhat near the base, I would definitely suggest getting it done with within the next… two weeks. Actually make that a week and a half. Otherwise death is almost assured for those not used to winter hazards… If you do plan on climbing it… Could you leave a letter with the Main Branch office expressing you were made aware of the dangers? Kagari smirked, did it seem that suicidal climbing a tall snowy mountain in the winter? “Mostly so if anything does happen to you… well... so there won’t be any diplomatic troubles?”

"Sure I could leave a note; I'll say that a Doctor Osuteno let a crazed Suna-nin climb the frozen peaks all by himself in search of a few furry friends. Hopefully, you don't see my corpse in your workplace anytime soon..." Once Kagari finished his tea, he checked his bags one more time and got ready to leave. "Thanks for helping me Osuteno. The tea really helped out by the way, it was delicious. Maybe we'll run into each other again sometime. " Kagari got up from his seat and took the sheet of paper, "Do you mind if I borrow this sketch from you?" Kagari would take the sketch just in case.

"Oh, also how do I get to Susukino District? I was told to meet there with my group for lodgings." Once Kagari got that last bit of information, he would bid farewell to the helpful man.
