Before the boy was even able to open his eyes he knew. Sensing the pollen in the air a grin would slip from his lips as he had a felling that today was going to be an eventful day. The pollen of the Ninja's Wolf's Bane was truly a rare sight to see. This mysterious and extremely toxic flower only bloomed at night and the pollen that would flutter through the air was iridescent and glowed against the night sky. As Shin's blue eyes opened he would see these sprite like lights flutter through his room. He knew he would have to act quickly if he wanted to complete the pollinating for this year. His mother and father were away on a business trip for his father's puppet workshop and his mother left the responsibility of carefully selecting which flowers needed to have their stamen removed and which ones needed their pistils covered. Shifting his weight to get out of his bed the boy smiled as his mother's flowers were filling the house with these dancing lights. It was most likely three or four in the morning but that just meant everyone that neighbored his family would still be asleep.
Making his way to the back yard the boy smiled to see that all of the petals of his Clan's flower to be opened and ready for pollination. At this moment the toxicity of the flower was at it's lowest. It was safe to touch for the child without fear of pricking his fingers on the thorns that carried the famous poison. The wind was slowly pushing the dancing specks through the air and the young Yamanaka knew that he needed to act quickly. Walking to each and every flower the boy would gaze upon it's form and design. Judging and appraising every aspect from the concentration of sap on the stem to the brilliance of the purple in the petals, Chikamatsu Shin had a goal. The male stamen needed to be on the strongest stems with the sharpest thorns while the pistils of the most beautiful flowers as those tended to have the most potent toxins.
After surveying the garden that his mother has been working on for years it was time for the young Yamanaka to take the mantle and help start the next generation of of Wolf's Bane. Selecting the flowers he thought were the best the child would begin to snapping off the stamen of flowers that didn't need to carry on it's male traits while simultaneously placing a small seal on the pistils of the flowers that shouldn't be used to produce the seeds for the next batch of flowers. The boy smiled as he would allow nature to do the rest. Small desert insects had already began to dig in the petals looking for nectar while indirectly pollinating the flowers in the manner the boy had hoped. With a smile on his face it was time for the boy to head back to bed and see how this round of pollination would result in the following months.
