There was a small noodle shop in the Susukino District. Uchiha Moeka visited it frequently, ordering the shop's unique curry udon noodles. It was normally her least favorite variety of udon noodles, and noodle dishes in general; and yet there was something about this particular shop's curry udon noodles that managed to surprise the picky noodle gourmet. Repetitive inquiries into the recipe of the dish resulted in constant rejection, with the owner refusing to reveal his secrets no matter what. So that was the sole reason she frequented the shop despite there being many less obscure and better options. Moeka was going through the difficult way of figuring out the ingredients of the curry noodles - manual taste. The curiosity just wouldn't let her be.
"Sorry, Moeka-san." The owner was a man no older than in his early thirties. He scratched the back of his head sheepishly as he spoke an apology. "The stove just broke all of a sudden, so I can't make any noodles for you today."
"Did you know something, Ganbare-san?" The little girl, instead of responding to the noodle shop owner's disappointed concerns, asked a leading question. While the news really were somewhat disappointing for her, who went out of her way to visit such an unpopular and unimpressive restaurant, with just one exceptional meal, Moeka seemed perfectly calm.
"My name isn't Ganbare-san..." The man smiled nervously, but before he was able to repeat his real name, his little client continued.
"The Uchiha clan is famous for their mastery in the Katon Ninjutsu. Naturally, as a pureblooded Uchiha myself, I am fairly good at it despite being only an Academy Student." Uchiha Moeka had proudly said that with a smile, a hand on her chest. 'Ganbare-san', nicknamed that for his constant high spirits despite his failing business, forced a rather pitiful, encouraging smile, quite clearly failing to see the relevance but still eager to indulge one of his very few regulars. Moeka frowned. "...I'm not telling you this just to brag. I'm saying that my skills can be a substitute for your stove."
"Oh, is that so? You'd really do that for me, Moeka-san? Well, I'd be really grateful..." 'Ganbare-san' beamed up in a genuine smile.
"I'm not going to do that for free, naturally."
"Oh." The smile quickly disappeared. Ganbare-san put a hand on his chin, contemplating. "Well, I guess it can't be helped..."
With that reluctant agreement, Moeka was allowed into the kitchen. After some setup, they were able to substitute the stove with chakra-fueled fire. The black haired girl smirked. If she was around while the curry udon noodles were being made, there was no way the secret recipe could escape her sharp eyes. The demand for money was just a deception - the recipe was her true aim. Once she figures out the secret, then her restless nights would become just a little bit more comfortable.
Uchiha Moeka spent the entire day helping out with her Ninjutsu. But unfortunately, nobody ordered the curry udon noodles that day.
