[col]It had taken months for the young girl to endure the harsh, dreadful journey from the land of wind to the land of lightning. Kotone, now extremely malnourished and dehydrated, hobbled along a worn down trail as her bare feet, now bloody and sore, did their best to walk across mineral blades that scored into her rough, unforgiving flesh. She kept walking, walking, for what felt like an eternity, entering wild mountain ranges that were engulfed by milky white clouds and the odd flutter of wildlife - birds of prey circled above, waiting for the girl to die, so that they may sink their beak into her wrinkled, tired flesh. They squawked and squawked, patient for their meal, taunting with their voices for the girl to lay her head down and admit defeat. Unfortunately for the birds, with their dominating shadows as they circled around Koto, the young poppet didn't give him and despite her own reservations about reaching the gates - it was withing her grasp.
Koto moved forward, pushing her body against an unforgiving gust, ascending up a rocky dune, falling to her knees and scuffing the already tarnished flesh - unable to call out in pain, the 10 year old surrendered to a quiet, and gentle moan, an exhausted expression to say the least. Her head dipped down, her ponytail withered and void of a once present liveliness undid itself and masked her face. Koto shook her head, resisting the urge to just sleep, to go quietly into the darkness,

<COLOR color="orange">"J-just five minu..." she exclaimed as her head pressed itself against the hard, unwelcoming surface of a rock... And then, they descended from terrifying heights, landing a mere few feet from the body of Koto. They howled in excitement as one daring bird waddled towards the girl, stretching its bald head and beak to reach the malnourished skin.
Five in total surrounded the girl and began to eat... They each took little pieces of Koto, but rather unexpectedly; the girl's eyes shot open, her purple flared hues full of life. The birds, big in stature, stepped back in shock preparing to take off and enter their own level of airspace safety."Gotcha!" Koto was a member of the Kyoujouran bloodline, a child of steel and girth, but boy was she hungry, so for the longest time she had to attract the attention of scavenger birds to pick upon a dying prey. An easily meal, right? Wrong, the only one eating tonight was Koto.
A few hours later, Kotone made her way from what could only be described as a crude campsite, where five husks lay baron with their flesh stripped off from the bones. Mind you, the girl was still in a pretty bad situation, she really couldn't survive out in the wilderness for much longer. But alas, the gates of Kumo were in sight and it was time for her to- Koto suddenly grappled onto her stomach, falling to her knees and gasping, suffocated by a pain that originated from her abdomen, a pain that was so sudden and horrifically intense that her legs gave way. Koto wouldn't realise it, but the scavanger's flesh was infested with parasites... Koto could only wait till someone from Kumo came to assist her.
