It was evening, the sun was just starting to set, and it was a bit cloudy out. Earlier, in the morning akane sent out two letters, each one saying the same thing, inviting two people out for dinner. It had recently been her seventeenth birthday, and she just wanted to see familiar faces, that she had yet to see. Though one she was hoping to see, might be younger than her now. She was twelve last time she saw him, so she probably would look like a complete stranger. Either way, she was curious on how he would react.

Both letters were written by hand, and both looked exactly the same, the writing was very elegant, and smooth. All that practice writing in note books improved her hand writing ten fold. Akane forgot to mention that it would be a party of three, and not two, making it seem like an invite out for a dinner date. She really did not mean it like that, but the letters were already sent.
letter said:
Hello,
I would like to invite you out to dinner in the Seki district, It'll be nice to spend some time together.
I'll be waiting outside the Seafood restaurant, on the main road, near the home style raman house. Around sunset. I look forward to seeing you!

Akane waited outside the seafood restaurant, she decided to dress up for this evening, it had been four years since she actually dressed up nicely. Her crimson hair was done up in a half ponytail that easily blended into her hair that was down. It was wavy, and silky smooth. She had very little make up on, lip gloss, mascara, and some blush. Her mother did it. She was wearing a dark blue kimono that reached down to her mid thighs, and a matching light blue belt. She had white socks that reached a little above her knees, and a pair of nicely looped sandals. She carried on her a small purse, that held her money, and a hidden kunai, as she was never unguarded.

She was standing near the door, people passing by her looked at her curiously.

He was weaving between people, working his way toward the seafood restaurant. He really didn't want to be late for this. Earlier that morning, Kunashi had received a letter. Though, not just any letter. This was a hand written letter from his best friend, asking him to meet her for dinner. It was oddly formal and very elegant. He couldn't help but think that he was being asked on a date. The man was dressed in his finest clothes, a suit and button-up blue dress shirt. He did not want to dress casually to their first date. The young man's heart was aflutter, he hadn't seen Red since they departed ways after their intensive training session and he had been yearning to see her, though he was not sure how to go about saying it.

But, his salvation arrived that morning, it seemed she wanted to see him as well. The beautiful redhead wanted to see him. He was ecstatic. The restaurant was in sight, the neon sign hanging above the entrance like a beacon guiding him to her. As he pushed past people in his hurried walk to get to the restaurant, he caught a glimpse of her. He stopped, literally dumbstruck by the beauty before him. He composed himself as people passed between them, blocking his view of her once more. He slowed his walk, wanting to seem nonchalant. His voicy was shaky at first, but it mellowed out. Was he nervous? How unlike him.

"Hey, Red. Long time no see, how have you been? You look.. amazing. I'm glad you invited me out."

Ri was just returning from mandatory training that was held ridiculously early in the morning. He was exhausted and just wanted to go find a place where he could sleep the day away, but then it happened. As he arrived at his home to grab some things before he went out, his mother gave him a letter which she said was probably from a girl. Before he actually read the note, he noticed how neat the hand writing was and mumbled, "You're probably right.." in a tired voice. It took a moment to process what he had read after actually doing so, but then he remembered. "Wasn't Akane that girl that made me waste my sake?" The note itself seemed so well done, it had to be an invitation to a date. Though Akane wasn't really his type, not to mention that she was younger than him..

"Guess I'll just have to go and break the news to her." He sighed as he turned back around to go to the seafood restaurant mentioned. His equipment was already with him, and there was nothing else he needed, so he'd get there relatively quickly. As he walked, he could feel how exhausted he was, and it wasn't just from the training. Ri wasn't one to be up this early.. Ever. So the whole situation was hell for him. He arrived at the restaurant a little before noon, then remembered that this was far earlier than he had to be here. Hours before in fact. "Damn... It..." He said to himself as he looked around to see if Akane was there. Of course, he knew that there was no chance she would be, but it was just something he hoped for.

"Oh well..." Ri headed toward the nearest alleyway and sat on the ground so that he could wait. He's never tried to sleep in the Susukino district before, but it was worth a shot if it meant he could get some rest before the meeting. Shutting his eyes, Ri began sleeping without worrying about any thugs who may try and mug him.

Eventually, someone kicked him awake. "Oi, kid! You can't sleep here, so get out!" They yelled, kicking him again just to make sure they got the point across.

"Yeah, yeah. I hear ya." Ri said as he stood up. Looking toward the sky, he saw it was just around the time he was supposed to meet Akane, and walked back over to the restaurant. He happened to arrive right around the time someone else did. This person approached someone who looked strangely like the one he came to meet, and they looked like someone he had seen a couple times before. Ri walked up to the two, and noticed that he was taller than both of them by quite a bit, but they had mature features. Yawning and scratching his head, Ri looked at the two for a while and snickered when the man complimented the woman with a shaky voice.

He was currently to tired to realize that the woman was very attractive, and the reason that he approached them in the first place. But he soon remembered after his mind began to wake up a bit. "You both look pretty familiar, do you Akane and Kunashi? Relatives maybe?" He asked before yawning once more.

Akane was waiting patiently, she seemed to be zoning out as she went into thought. She remembered she needed to schedule something, and study more subjects. She wasn't sure what she wanted to specialize fully in yet. It would take some time for her to figure it out, so she was wanting to explore all aspects of the medical branch.

Soon enough Akane snapped out of her thoughts and noticed Kunashi approaching. He was dressed up nicely, she was glad he thought it would be good to come in formal attire. Though she noticed he was a little nervous, as his shaky voice put it off to be. She didn't see any reason why he would be nervous. She smiled at him anyways, her bright, and normal cheerful smile she seemed to always have.
"I am glad that you could make it." She hummed lightly. She then looked around slightly, before she noticed Ri approaching, good he got her letter as well.

Akane made a look of confusion towards Ri, before she remembered, it had been four years for her, but for him, it had only been a month. Akane pondered for a moment. "Not exactly, Ri. I am Akane, and this is Kunashi. He were on a month trip inside a void, inside for us was four years." she explained, hoping to make it clear. "We just came back not to long ago. it was my birthday a day ago, I kinda forgot to celebrate it, so I invited you two out." She said with a grin, she then looked at Kunashi, "I would have invited Yoshi too, but he is training... So I doubted he could have made it." She said quickly then sighed.

"But seeing as we are all here now, we can go inside and eat. I reserved a table for us already." She seemed pretty excited, as she hadn't seen Ri in years, and Kunashi for almost a week it felt. Though she was never really sure if Ri actually even wanted to hang around her again, last time she hung around him, she was only twelve, and he seemed like he was annoyed by her. She was also still oblivious that the two thought she was asking them out on a date.

Poor Kunashi had been so worried about his date with Akane that he didn't even see Ri appear. It wasn't until after Akane even addressed him that Kunashi realized he was standing there. Kunashi looked to the boy, who was now two years his junior, and back to Red. He was confused to say the least, but he played it off like he understood. "Yeah, nice to see you again Ri. It's been a while. Well, for me at least." Kunashi tried to disguise his anguish by making a slight joke. It should be pretty effective, but Akane did know how to read him well, due to them being together for four years. He turned back to the redhead. "Ah, that's right! I knew I missed something. Happy birthday, Red. I hope it was fun. Now, let's get some food, I'm hungry!" Kunashi would motion for the lady to walk through first, manners was something instilled in him from a young age. He would follow behind the girl to their table when the time was right. He would make the most of this dinner, even though Ri was there. He still enjoyed spending time with Akane on a non-date basis, and he and Ri had made their amends years -- I mean weeks ago. Kunashi was definitely over their feud. He would just enjoy dinner. That was the plan.

"Am I drunk? I must be drunk. But I don't remember drinking anything today... Are they just screwing with me?" A number of thoughts went through the boy's head after being told that these two were the ones that had asked him here, and that they were in some kind of void. It made absolutely no sense to him, but he might as well play along to figure it out for himself. He really must be drunk if he's imagining something as absurd as this. "Screw it.. I guess." He mumbled as he walked through the door after Kunashi.

He followed Akane to the table that she reserved for the three of them, and this was when he realized there was no way this was a date. Unless she liked being with two guys at once.. Which would be a bit strange, and even Ri had some rules against being with multiple people at once. Not that he had been with even one person yet. That was beside the point right now though. It seemed this would just be a small get together since "Akane" forgot to celebrate her birthday the day before. Ri sat down after everyone else did, and waited for the waitress came.

"I'll have some sake." He replied when asked what he would have to drink. After a bit of trial and error, he learned it was better not to fake a deep voice, as that made it obvious he shouldn't be having the sake he's asking for. If his voice ever seemed like it was to high for someone that was old enough, he would just pretend to be offended and demand a free drink. Sadly, the waitress hadn't questioned his order, and merely looked to the other two so she could take their orders.

Akane showed a cheerful grin to the two, though, she couldn't help feel a little distress from Kunashi, he hid it well, but she wasn't sure if it was because of Ri, or something she did. She also felt like Ri was confused, in a way, but she expected that. Hopefully he believed it, but if she was in his shoes, she would see this story as illogical, and call it a fairytale. Thats of course if she had never experienced it herself. "I am quite glad that both of you could make it, and thank you Kunashi. I wouldn't have called that day fun, but it was... Noteworthy." She stated with a nod. She remember spending most of the day studying, and practicing a song. Her mother was away at work, so she had the whole house to herself. She did get plenty accomplished though.

Akane nodded to Kunashi as he gestured that she should enter first. She lead the way to their table, and took a seat. The place was not the fanciest, but she hadn't tasted this place in four years. That, and she did not wish to go to her mother's restaurant for dinner again. Akane looked over at Ri, he looked a mess... almost like he was sleeping on the street. But she honestly did not mind, he just looked out of place. She only hoped he did not feel that way, as she did not wish for this evening to become horrid. "I would like to apologize for inviting you out on such a short notice. I am better at making short notice plans, than planning weeks ahead. I have so many in mind I wanted to see again, but it might of been too much to invite everyone I wanted." Akane stated, she then looked u at the waitress, and smiled. "I'll take some black tea, sweetened." She said, she had grown a sweet tooth. She did not mind Ri drinking, as she would deny anything if someone would to confront him. She would not get in trouble for his preferred tastes.

Akane looked at Kunashi, and grinned. "I would have invited Yoshi as well, but he is... Doing training. I miss him, but we will see him again. Hopefully soon." Akane stated to Kunashi, and nodded. She had missed Kunashi as well, it had only been a few weeks, but after living with the two for four years, it was hard to adjust. She missed so many people though, Osu, Emi, and Riku. She was sure to see them all again, but they were still children. It made her a little sad to think that they were so much more younger than her now, and it would be weird, maybe socially unacceptable for her to hang around them like they used too.

Kunashi was the last to arrive at the table, taking a seat across from Akane. She apologized for the short notice, and he couldn't help but chuckle. "You never were one for plans, Red. More of the spontaneous type." When the waitress came to him for a drink order, he simply ordered green tea. He loved hot tea. He found it relaxing, and he definitely needed to relax right now.

"Ah, that's too bad. I haven't seen Yoshi in a few weeks, next time for sure." In reality, he wished no one else had been invited. He wanted some solid one-on-one time with Red. But, his wish was not granted. Instead, he shared the table with the sloppily dressed teenage drunk who had groped him back in his academy student days. Fantastic. But, Kunashi decided there was no sense in dwelling. He started up the small talk. "So, what have you all been up to since I saw you last?"

"It's all good." The boy said after Akane apologized for inviting them on such short notice. After they had all ordered their drinks, the other two went on to talk about some kid he didn't know. Ri tuned out of the conversation for the short time they talked about Yoshi since he was uninterested, then began paying more attention after Kunashi asked what was going on in their lives. He had to think about it a bit. Not much really seemed to be going on for him, aside from his usual duties as a shinobi. After a bit more thinking, he finally came up with something that would be slightly interesting, or would at least start up some other conversation.

"Well, pretty recently I watched an entire forest grow from a crater in a few seconds. But Kunashi was there, if you still remember that..." Ri was bringing up a mission they had all gone on a month or two, or for them several years, ago. Although it seemed to be a fairly easy fight to him, it was still a memorable one. There certainly wasn't a lack of enemies, and as he already said, a forest grew in just a few seconds. Definitely not something many people would forget.

A little after he mentioned the mission they had gone on, the waitress returned with their drinks. She gave Ri a bit of a skeptical look, but it was ignored as he made himself comfortable in his chair and began sipping his sake. His eyes began to wander around the restaurant, and when he finally began looking at the older Akane, he realized that she had certainly developed. That few years were kind to her, or maybe it was just a huge change for him since it had technically been years since he last saw her.

Akane smiled at Kunashi, her regular smile. She did good to hide her true thoughts with that smile, though, it seemed like sometimes she could not hid her feelings from her close family. But it never stopped her from trying to put on her smile. Kun was right, she didnt do long term plans well, she still had yet to set a real long term goal, just floating along, and accomplishing the short term goals. She saw no problem with it, as it made her feel like she could adapt easily.

Akane looked at Ri as he explained the forest. Her eyes wide, she had seen a whole forest burned down in a few seconds, but never one grow that fast. "That sounds extraordinary." She stated with a grin. She then pondered for a second. "Well I have done a lot these past few weeks we've been home. Like my mom got me into trying new instruments, she wants me to follow a little in her footsteps, since I cant cook... I also have been acquiring more knowledge around medical categories. I am getting ready for my Mednin exam as well, I believe I will sail through it." Akane explained to the two, she really liked talking still, it was something she enjoyed.

Akane looked at the waitress, who seemed skeptical about Ri, she almost giggled, but refrained from doing so. It might draw more suspicion, which was something she prefered not to do. She sipped her tea, and hummed in delight, even though she wished for more sugar. She wouldnt ask for such, so she looked at the waitress, and nodded her thanks. She already knew what she wanted to eat, so she went ahead and spoke out her food order. I would like grilled fish, with lemon, please." She explained to the waitress, if she was home, she would eat more. Normally she would eat a lot, but her mother had been getting on her about eating a ton in public, it wasn't 'lady-like'. So for her mother, Akane was trying to break from that habit.
