Even as a human puppet, Mitsuha found herself growing weary from all this reading. Even by Jounin standards, this is advanced and needs expert care on the matter. Though to create a homunculus would essentially make a new being entirely, the trickier part is to not make the soul, but rather, transfer her own soul to the new body. So, in a sense, she is both an homunculus and not.
And the materials alone, can't just come out of nothing... Even she knew that. She let out a huff of frustration as she thought about her next steps. Pacing around in her empty house as she thought about what to do when a realization had hit her. Maybe not the full answer, but maybe a partial one was under her nose the entire time. How she came to be a human puppet. A man had saved her, who was only known as the Tinkerer. Whom knows more about the dark and forbidden arts more than her. Paying a visit to Shin Yoko at a mysterious workshop, where she knows that the Tinkerer usually works, she found him at work.
"If you're here for some tune ups on weapons, that will be a couple hundred thousand yen depending on what you're looking for." His back was turned to her as he was hard at work welding something.
"What I require isn't a weapon, but rather some of your other work. The more... Unknown and dark." Mitsuha would say.
The Tinkerer would hesitate, before setting down his equipment and turning to her. There was a confused look on his face before he recovered, "Ah. If it isn't the girl I saved a while back. What can I do for you?"
Mitsuha would nod and then say, "Lately, I've been having these... feelings for the first time in a long time. I've been wanting to go back to being human, or as close as I want to be. I don't know how long it will be before the puppet part of me just takes over completely and takes away all of my emotions." In truth, she has been fighting her own self these past few days trying to keep control of her own self. This was no real enemy, but in fact, something that seems more sinister. Being something that is inhuman had slowly stripped her away of who she was, essentially making her unable to tell if she really herself. It is essentially, the biggest identity crisis, to fight to stay being herself. Even as she fights to stay herself, she has found herself a time or two slipping into an unemotional state a time or two.
The Tinkerer would rub the back of his neck, "I had a feeling a time like this would come. I figured something in your life, presuming something rather big like a tragic event or a wave of emotions had hit you hard enough to shake you to your core enough to warrant the want of a change. And you're in luck." He made a gesture for her to follow him as he led her through a secret area of his workshop that was hidden away. After a few twists and turns, he would eventually bring her to a basement that made Mitsuha stop in her tracks. "As I told you when I first found you. Your original body was damaged beyond repair. Even for someone of my nature, with studying under a dark sage. Unless you have uncovered something that might work, I don't know how much else to help you."
Mitsuha felt that it was surreal... She was staring at her own dead body... By all rights, she should have been dead all those years ago. Even though the Tinkerer was only a pupil to a darksage, they have been able to preserve the body mostly. The Jounin hesitated to speak for a minute before she finally was able to speak, "I..." She looked away to be able to focus, "I found some other texts and scrolls, about making an homunculus."
"Hm..." The Tinkerer contemplated on the idea before nodding, "That could very well work. Though, it would take more than just using some of this body as material components. I for one don't have enough information by a long shot to fully help you, but the least bit that I do know is that you would need an immense amount of chakra poured into a vessel in the spam of a month at the very least, along with advanced medical knowledge. Though, if you need to make use of my workshop as you seem fit, please do. I've been busy lately so you won't see much of me."
Mitsuha would sigh and thank the Tinkerer and leave. It wasn't much, but it was still more than what she had going for her than before.
