[col]While the largest of the beasts lagged behind, a perpetual rumble of thunder and cloud of dust and debris in her wake, occasionally piercing the air with her terrible roar, her smaller spawn rushed forth. None of the primal, shrieking beasts knew quite what was in store for them when they reached the huge carved statues, huge wall, and large gates set within.
Many stopped well before the gates, too busy seeking small, squirming prey within the outer reaches of Maruishi and the Concrete Jungle. Some of them were crushed beneath the feet of their mother, as she had no care for what her children were doing. Others were smarter. Others continued to rush towards the gates, as their mother bid them (though not through words). These spawn were the forerunners, the harbingers of what was to come, though the monster had announced her presence quite clearly long, long ago.
Their shrieks filled the air, a chaotic chorus of noise that sent most things scrambling and scraping ahead of them in an effort to escape. Not that it made much difference to the beasts themselves.
Prey was much more interesting when it ran. The only thing with a solid chance of escape were those with wings, or those small enough to escape the notice of the spawn, but both were few and far between by this point. Most everything knew better than to have remained, some old, primal, racial memory having told them to run.
Unlike the humans. The prideful, arrogant creatures which still sat behind their wall as if nothing were happening. As if their doom were not lurking only a short distance away. The beasts would be insulted, if they could feel such things. But they could not.|

Instead, they merely felt hunger. That primal and driving need to feed.
The first of them thought nothing of the wall. It was a relatively small specimen, a little more agile than its siblings. It cocked its scaled head to the side for a moment, let out a shriek, and proceeded to jump over the thick, tall wall as if it didn't exist, then proceeded to quite literally bound across Maruishi, towards the edge of the great cliff that the city was situated in, causing chaos and terror in it's wake. What did you expect when a reptilian creature covered in thick plates that resembled the stone that these people had carved their lives out of proceeded to race through as if no one existed.
The next few paused at the statues. Curious at the giant stone constructs. Then set upon their destruction. That would distract them for some time, at least. It would buy the village a little more time, perhaps.
Or perhaps not.
Boom...
The gates were struck. A solid blow, by something... huge. Not quite large enough to peer over the gates, but one could just barely see the tips of thick, blue tinted horns or spines of some sort, coming up like stalagmites from the creature's back.
The third strike hit a slightly different angle, as the beast shifted, it's footfalls rumbling the ground as it shuffled about slightly.
And then it let out a shriek. Not quite as sharp and high pitched as some of it's siblings, a little lower. A little more... rumbling. It sounded a bit more like it's mother.
The gates crashed down. Not open. Down. Torn asunder from the walls as if the entire thing were made of a child's building blocks. Another triumphant call, and the beast was now properly visible as it shuffled into the area just beyond the gates, in the village now.
It was not as large as the creature that spawned it. That did not make it any less fearsome to behold. Thickly built, thickly plated, a darker shade of gray than the stone of Iwagakure, pupil-less eyes and fangs that stuck out from it's maw, which dripped with saliva, and terrible ivory claws, clearly intended to rend things to ribbons. Another pleased roar, and the beast started moving forward once more.
The beasts had reached the gates. One had already passed through.
The Netvok had awoken. Tremble, mortals, for they have already breached your precious gate. You will not survive.

CRASH!

(You have five days. If the beast goes unchallenged until Thursday June 25, 2015 2:53 am, it will destroy the gates completely.)
Notice: As there has been some confusion: Two monsters are present within Maruishi/Iwagakure at this point. One which jumped over the wall and bounded through Maruishi before essentially disappearing (for now), and the other which destroyed the gates. This thread is meant to deal with the one that destroyed the gates. No other creatures have yet entered Maruishi/Iwagakure.
