Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Exit Strategy

Naoki shook her head. "No... But I've heard it happens to some people. Hasn't happened to me for sure, or I'd've noticed! ...would I?" She'd effectively confused both herself and Yumi as far as she could tell, head tilted to the left and somewhat slumping. It'd help a lot to know why she was upset... Should I bring it up...?

"Well then, have you gotten around to trying taijutsu? Would mostly just need to use your strength instead of chakra, but maybe actually getting into the mood of fighting would help... Just if you want to of course!" And after a moment's thought, she added, "I'll go easy on you, don't worry!"

She did so in order to agitate her further, considering the state she was in, since an actual combat situation involving a student who couldn't harness her chakra wasn't a good situation for her to be in. The more real it felt, the easier the chakra would flow, as she'd learnt from a few other battles.

If Yumi said yes, Naoki would then stand up and make her way to the center of the room, getting into a basic attack stance. "Come at me seriously, don't hold back!"

Otherwise, she'd nod understandingly, asking what Yumi would rather do instead, "Then, what do you wanna do? Try and practice ninjutsu? Or genjutsu? Ah or... would it be better if I left you alone to practice?" The last question would be followed by Naoki preparing to get up and walk across the room again to give Yumi some space.

She was not entirely sure why, and even hindsight likely wouldn't be giving her the answer. Regardless, Naoki's initial response caused that seething frustration that she was doing her best to quell to bubble out. Her hands tightened and she rubbed her thumbs and forefingers of each hand together to try and sidetrack her frustration as Naoki made the offer to spar. All she would receive was a firm shake of her head as she closed her eyes and tried to push it back down again.

Even after Naoki made her final suggestions she would receive no response from the blonde youth as she sat there silently stewing. A few moments of silence would pass as Naoki walked over to her side of the room before suddenly Yumi loudly exclaimed, "I can't do it, okay! I try and try but I just can't!" She pushed herself to a hasty stand and gripped her hands into fists. "I am going to fail at being a shinobi. I am going to fail out of the academy, and I am going to fail my parents. So just Leave. Me. Alone!"

The next think Naoki knew Yumi had slammed the door to their room shut as hard as she could as soon as she had stormed through it. The scrolls she had brought with her were left behind and a red flush covered Yumi's face as she ran down the hall, fighting back tears. Part of her wanted to look back in confusion as all of this happened around her, but the rest of her languished in the moment as she made her way out of the building as fast as her feet could carry her.

The student's words were at a sudden piercingly loud volume, and Naoki visibly flinched from it.

"Ah-"

She couldn't manage much else as Yumi's frustration reached the limits she managed to bury them under and caused the student to dash outside.

Ah no way! Did i go too far...? I went too far didn't I, of course I went too far! Typical Naoki, always being so... um... what's the word? Doesn't matter what the word is, I messed up! Again! This is why I shouldn't be dealing with people my age, I can't think enough before I say things! I knew she was upset, why'd I want to upset her more anyway? Ah right because I wanted her to try some taijutsu but it didn't help at all, did it? Ahh no use regretting things, no use... What can I do now... She said to leave her alone... But I can't- Then a thought struck, and Naoki sprinted out after her, snapping her fingers every other second until she sensed any hurried footsteps close by, keeping quiet when she did.

She can't be running around at night in that state!

Yumi pushed past a few surprised people in the hallway as she continued to run though the hall towards no place in particular. Turns at junctions were taken at random and she pressed herself to run as fast as she could. Naoki would not likely have any trouble keeping up with the weighted down girl, if she managed to keep track of her random path. Eventually she turned through a door and found herself in a stairwell.

She paused at the threshold of the stairs, her breathing ragged as she looked between a set of stairs that lead upwards and a set that lead downwards. Without putting any thought into it she rushed down the stairs as fast as she could manage with crashing down them into a crumpled broken heap. Taking two, three and even five step leaps at once, which would have been cake for an experienced shinobi, she hurried herself down the stairs.

It only took a dozen seconds for her to drop the three flights down to the bottom floor where she burst out of the stairwell and down towards a side exit. At this point she was simply running on autopilot, and she didn't have any real goal aside from where her feet took her. A few moments later and she burst out one of the metal side entrances to the complex. Her fatigue finally caught up with her and she had to stop and lean over, her breath hard and raspy as her mind took momentary solice in the inability to think or worry.

Naoki attempted to follow along closely after noting her initial location, stopping short sometimes and slipping a little at other times. Whoa! Fast is fast, but I still have to work on my turns...

She's heading out... There's a bit more noise outside so I can still keep track of her, but... It's also much more dangerous outside. Naoki planned to keep following, far enough away for Yumi not to notice but close enough to be sure she's not going to be ambushed or anything in the middle of the night. She would find time to apologize later, when Yumi was calmer.

Hm? Did Yumi stop... The footsteps she was following halted once they reached outside, leading Naoki to believe it was safe to descend, and so she was currently around the middle of the staircase. It would be problematic if she were to be caught now, so as soon as she heard the footsteps stop she rushed back upstairs and wait close by, preparing to hide if Yumi came back up or to speed down if nothing was heard coming back up in awhile.

It took a few moments for the girl to catch her breath, but as her body began to recover itself her brain began to process the situation once again. Yumi looked back towards the building, still panting heavily as she shook her head in disappointment. Not with Naoki, but with herself. She was only trying to help Yumi after all, and she certainly didn't deserve to get yelled at.

Part of her tugged her towards the entrance she had just exited through, but the greater part of her couldn't bear the thought of seeing Naoki. Of course that girl would be furious with her for yelling like that... storming out like a small child throwing a tantrum. Suddenly she thought of her father giving her one of those disappointed stares and she felt a strong tug on her heart. Yumi took a slow deep breath and sighed in resignation as she pushed herself upright and began to walk away.

Naoki would probably hate her forever after that, and so there was no point apologizing. So, she tried to blank out her mind as she walked away from the complex and towards the Desert Crown and towards home. Tomorrow was going to be a bad day, she just knew it...

[Moving to Exit Topic]

Hmm... Doesn't seem like she's coming back up... Okay, let's keep going!

Naoki went back into tail mode, hurtling down the stairs again to try and catch up with the student. Two steps at a time was her limit, as that was about as far as she could sense without making too much noise, but since she was low on time she decided to take a few risks. Shouldn't be too hard... Should it?

It was though. Uh oh "Hya-"

Having miscalculated her last step, Naoki slipped on the non-existent final stair and ended up rolling out of the side exit, yelping as she did so.

Problem, problem, problem problem problem

Hoping Yumi hadn't noticed yet, she dashed back behind the metal door, rethinking the past few moments of awkwardness. Not too bad, not too bad... Where was Yumi... Ooh, I hope she wasn't too close by...

Yumi had made a move to leave though, so either she did hear and left anyway or it escaped her notice. In that case, Naoki would at least trail Yumi long enough to be sure she made it home safely.

If she hadn't left though, and Naoki could still hear her heartbeat in one place, she'd step out and wave a little. "U-um... I was... g-going out for air! I wasn't following you or anything like that, because you said you wanted to be left alone, ahahaha..." She'd then trail off, pausing a little before a 90 degree bow of apology. "S-Sorry! Um... I shouldn't have been so pushy about it. I'll be more careful about feelings and things, so..."

For better or worse, Yumi had already gotten too wrapped up into herself to take notice of much of anything. That, combined with her head start on the other girl, had given just enough space for Yumi to not notice the poor girl's embarrassing crash landing. This sort of introspective lack of awareness continued for their entire trip through Sunagakure and she would make it home safe and sound under the protective gaze of her guardian angel~

[Topic Departed]

Phew... Tailing people is harder than I thought... Naoki had to dodge whoever was still wandering around at this time as well as her target, and this wasn't as easily done with the more extravagant surroundings. Uwaaah... Yumi's place must be pretty cool...

Naoki stayed concentrated on Yumi's steps, and after being sure that she was safe, would return home herself.

Can't say I didn't expect that... but I tried!
