Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Jirou listened and accepted the corrections thankfully afterwards determined to incorporate the corrections from the sensei in his upcoming moves against the clone. He bowed respectfully to the sensei in appreciation, “Thank you sensei. Any instruction you can give to me for my improvement is appreciated.” He listened closely to the guidance he was giving the others. He took it all in like a sponge soaking in every last bit of knowledge that he could glean. He wanted to use what he was learning for his own improvement. The sword was an extension of him. He looked at the sword in his hand studying it. This echoed the words of his own father when he watched him train in the days before the bandits had changed everything. He could understand how speed could become a limitation. After all there would always be an opponent who was faster or stronger. He knew that he had to also be smart and approach each situation as completely unique. He had to be able to adapt to match the situation. He was ready to return to sparring. This time doing what he could to keep the clone from landing any blows on him or Kashikoi.
Turning towards Kashikoi who is already very worked up from the training he adds, “Let’s continue Kashikoi. This time we make that clone just try and catch us. Don’t let him catch you boy.” Jirou spun the saber by the hilt in his right hand as he got ready to face the clone once more. He looked the clone in the eye. He already knew that the clone was widely more experienced than he was. He waited for the clone to make the first move and when the clone did, Jirou and Kashikoi moved in and out waiting for their opening against the clone. Like a well practiced duo when one moved forward the other moved forward as well meaning the clone had to watch and defend against two fronts. When the clone moved to strike at Jirou, Kashikoi leaped upwards and sprayed the clone with a shower that served to both annoy and mark the clone in the event that either of them might lose sight of the clone for whatever reason. Remembering the instruction from earlier about how he was holding the sword, Jirou blocks the attack and the kunai goes flying off to the side landing in the dirt not too far off. Kashikoi also dodges an attack from the clone when the clone attempts to drop the pup with three kunai thrown at him from his other hand. The pup was fast and he kept after the clone attempting to both herd and distract the clone. Jirou kept his feet planted firmly and moved quickly forward appearing to be going on the offensive against the clone. His chakra flowed through him and with it electrical energy flowed through him down the length of the sword. Just as it looked as though he was going to strike he leaped backwards wanting to draw the clone in closer to his now electrified blade. Jirou waited, his sword held in a defensive stance. They would continue this sparring backwards and forwards all the while. Jirou was learning and soaking in all of the new information about what worked and what really did not work. The sword was a part of him and he was one with the sword. The words had impact and he worked hard to improve his skill with the sword.

“Thank you sensei.” She would say as she was given some words of wisdom. She would restring her puppet and go into a standing meditative stance. Closing her eyes she begins a chakra molding exercise. She pictures her chakra as a small flame within her body. It shines within and flickers with every heartbeat. Concentrating on her breathing, she takes slow deep breaths. She begins to visualize the air mixing with the fire and fanning the flame. She would watch as it ever so gradually gets bigger, hotter and brighter. The light, the light would be almost tangible as it flowed through her body like little streams. She would picture the stream flowing down her arm and down the strings of chakra.

The metal parts of the puppet begins to glow red hot as it was filled with fire attuned chakra. However Kuren was not finished as she in visions a small spark of her flame traveling down the river. The spark once at its destination would expand into a new flame as bright as the original. With this the puppet suddenly transforms into a clone of Kuren. “So you said you want us to avoid getting hit this time?” She failed that in the last spar, but that was because she was too busy attacking. This time would be different

Traps and stealth the teacher said to her. “I think I can pull that off.” Kuren pulls out a glass sphere the size of a marble out of her pocket. The orb once broken releases a thick veil of dark smoke. It was a classic addition to any shinobi's arsenal, but a good one. Now that the stealth part was set, next came the trap. Within the smoke Kuren quickly pulls out two Chakra Restrictive Seals. She places one on her arm underneath the sleeve and puts the other in the same location on her clone.

As her opponent comes charging as the cloud, she and her puppet clone burst out of hiding. The two of them ran in opposite directions. Being that the teacher’s clone cannot make clones of his own, can only follow one of them. This would likely appear to be a risky maneuver as if the teacher did guess right, her puppet would be too far away to protect her. The teacher chased down one of the Kuren’s and she blocks the attack with her arm. It was a direct hit to the seal hidden underneath the sleeve of her jacket.

The teacher’s clone would see his sword dissipating into chakra as the seal did its magic. The clone was able to see the Kuren he struck turn into a puppet, before he too dissolves into particles of chakra. The real Kuren would raise up her arm and pull down her sleeve. This was her way of showing the teacher that his clone would have met the same fate no matter which one he went after.

Kuren would find this turn of events poetic. In the last spar she was defeated by her own attack. Now this time the clone lost because it attacked. However she is willing to admit that she only was able to achieve this victory because it was a clone fighting her. If her opponent was the real teacher this would have went down much differently.

Manzo watched as his students improved. They were taking in his teachings in closely and working it into their own fighting techniques. If they kept this up they would make fine shinobi. He was a little jealous of his own clones getting to have fun sparing and for a moment he was tempted to join in the fun but he quickly disregarded it. He wasn’t confident in their ability to work together and he wasn’t trying to build them as a team.

But that did give him a thought on how he wanted to test them. With a snap of his fingers he cut the flow of chakra to his clones and they disappeared in a cloud of smoke. ”I am glad to see you are learning, but it is time to see if you can really put it to practice. We talked about making your weapon one with you, making it an extension of yourself. Remember we are not normal mortals. We are Shinobi that have mastered the ability to control the Chakra inside us. This most often takes shape in ninjutsu.“ As he spoke trees and vines started to grow along the outwall of the room, covering the doors and the windows. ”But as flashy as Ninjutsu is, Taijutsu requires Chakra just as much. We harness the charka and let it flow through us into our weapon“ He held up his sword and it started to glow. Then without a word turns and performs the Kill Driver jutsu on a training dummy sending a series of slashes at blinding speed to the dummy leaving gashes into it. Then he turned back to the class and spoke again. ”A normal mortal could not move this quick and that is the power of Taijutsu, its speed. It is faster than Ninjutsu for you don't’ have to waste time with hand signs but instead can focus on attack or defense.

The next thing I want you to do is leave this room.“
He said the last part like he was saying, go for a walk. ”But I warn you, normal attacks will not work. Only something a Shinobi can do will cut those trees and vines.“

A wooden chair grew out of the ground and he sat in to watch them. ”Feel free to work together.“

Once the clone that he and Kashikoi were training with disappears in a puff or white smoke, Jirou turns to face the sensei watching and listening to what is being said. He watches in awe when the sensei uses his chakra infused sword to cut sizable gashes into the training dummy. He looks down at the sword that he had been training with still infused with his own chakra and glowing with electrical energy. He looked at the vines covering the door and then at Kashikoi, Karasu and Kuren, the grave digger girl. He could see that the vines were quite thick and it would not be an easy task unless they worked together. He knew what they would have to do and says to them both, “I think if we all work together and infuse our weapons with chakra we can cut a large enough hole through the vines in the doorway to get through. The sensei said that we could leave. Except that we have to get through those vines first.” Jirou points to what looks like a small opening gap between the vines. It would be a tight fit for even Kashikoi and he would need to focus on biting through the vines as well to help widen it. He then says to Karasu and Kuren, “See that small little gap at the base that is filling in. If we work fast we can maybe expand that opening there before it closes in. Maybe Kuren can use her puppet to dash forward and keep the vines from closing in around it while Kashikoi goes under the puppets legs and works at biting his way through the vines. Maybe if Karasu agrees she will work at cutting through the vines on one side while I do the other side. I can take the right side and she can take the left side. We have work pretty fast though. It looks like the vines are still growing and getting ever thicker by the moment. The doorway is just straight ahead and we stand the best chance I think of going straight. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line after all. Let’s not hesitate any longer.”
Jirou waited to see if the others were in agreement. Kashikoi looked up and yipped in his own form of agreement. He had already played the scenario out in his mind and he really hoped they would be in agreement with him. They stood the best chance by working together against the vines. It had already been a pretty long class and Jirou was getting hungry. This would probably be the last burst of strength that he could do for the day. He knew they had to do this and get it right the first time, if they were going to be able to leave to get food and rest. He could seriously use a milkshake right about now. He knew that Kashikoi was getting hungry too and wanted a popsicle of his own after this.
If they were all in agreement Jirou would take his stance, his sword infused with his own chakra and bright with the electrical energy coursing through his frame. He and Kashikoi would take off towards the doorway in a burst of speed. Kashikoi was heading straight for the base of the doorway, while Jirou headed towards the right and the vines that were growing to fill in the gap. His own infused sword glowing brightly slashed furiously at the vines in a blur of motion. He worked without stopping to get through the doorway and outside to freedom and food.

With all the experience she had learned so far in the class Karasu was grateful and tried to apply all the lessons she had learned from Manzo Sensei. Karasu was thinking on how to get in a good strike on the clone but that became an afterthought when with a snap of Manzo Sensei’s fingers, the clones disappeared. Karasu frowned. She was having fun and had just thought of some moves to do against it. She lowered her sword and listened as Manzo Sensei began to speak. He mentioned how as Shinobi they were able to do things such as form chakra using Ninjutsu unlike regular people. She nodded as he continued on. He was saying that Shinobi also form chakra in Taijutsu as well and with their weapon as a conduit.

She took in every word Manzo Sensei said like a sponge. She watched as Manzo Sensei held up his sword which started to glow. Karasu’s eye gleamed as the Jounin bounded toward a training dummy doing what she realized was a slashing Taijutsu technique called the kill driver. She had never used it before but she was amazed as she saw it being performed on the dummy ripping it to shreds in a flash. She listened as the Sensei spoke after his attack was finished. He was talking about how speed is the power of Taijutsu. She liked that there was no need for hand signs. Manzo Sensei told the class that the next thing he wanted them to do was to leave the room. Karasu was confused at first but listened on to see if there was more to what he was going to say. He added that normal attacks wouldn’t work and that only Shinobi could cut through the trees and vines. ‘Trees and vines’ she thought but then she looked around and saw that there were trees and vines growing along the outer wall of the room covering the doors and windows.

She got it that they needed to use what they learned to get out of the room. This was a test and Karasu remembered the last time she had a test with other students. That time she failed due to lack of communication. Karasu turned to Jirou, Kashikoi and Kuren and said “We need to work together as a team to figure out how to get out of the room. “ she then listened as Jirou had a plan of action. It sounded good to her and she nodded to Jirou. “Yes I agree” she said and held up her sword. She focused on asserting her chakra throughout her body and to her sword for emphasis. Being one with the sword just as Sensei had taught her. Taijutsu required speed and Karasu nodded to the others to show she was ready.

Karasu took off with a burst of speed and went to the left side of the vines on the door. Her sword was glowing with her chakra infused with it. She was focused on doing her part in the team combination plan. She slashed several times trying to cut through the thickness of the vines. With speed and quickness she channeled her chakra in her sword to get an opening. If all was successful the vines would cut away from the door. In Karasu’s mind she could see the image of the door freed from the vines that were on it. The academy student was determined not to fail.

Kuren’s clone was already gone before the teacher did anything, but she did notice everyone else’s clone partners disappearing. She watching as trees and vines started to grow along the outer wall of the room, covering the doors and the windows. Kuren would look up as she begins to formulate a way out. Side tracked by this event she failed to view the teacher’s attack on the dummy. She was mentally calculating how tall the walls were and charging some exploding notes.

The teacher then gives the class there next challenge though Kuren was already well aware of it. Kuren smiles at the teacher’s warning about the vines strength. Like someone would think cutting their way through was the best way out. Then sure enough Jirou suggests doing just that and Karasu goes along with it.

Kuren gives out an exasperated sigh, “Avoid what is strong. Strike at what is weak.” These are words she has read in scrollsof the shinobi arts. Kuren was glad she was wearing her excavating gear on her. As a self-proclaimed archeologist she has a few tools: spade, brushes, pickaxe and a few meters of rope. She ties the rope to the handle of her pickaxe and hands the exploding notes to her puppet. “The walls and doors are heavily fortified.” Her puppet runs up one of the trees and slaps the notes on the corner where the wall meets the ceiling. “The ceiling is not”

With a loud explosion there was now rays of sunlight pouring down into the room. She the hands the pickaxe to the puppet and once again it runs up the tree. It then impales the highest part of the wall with it. Kuren would pull on the rope to test how secure it was and then begins climbing. “Feel free to follow me once I reach the top.” As she was making her way up the wall she gives a comment to the teacher. “Next time can you teach us how to walk on walls? It would be helpful.”

Manzo watched as two of the students did the obvious. He had all but laid out the plan for them to follow. They used what he had taught them and used it against his plants. It was good to see them use that.

Then there was the puppet user. He was really going to have to learn how to use a puppet one of these days, took the more unorthodox route and sent her puppet to blow a hole in the ceiling. Manzo immediately built a wooden dome around the two students on the ground to protect them, letting them escape unmolested by falling debris. He then calmly walked up to the wall and proceeded to walk up it until he was even with her climbing.

”I was wondering if anyone was going to take this route. I purposely left teh ceiling open to see if anyone would. “

He paused for a moment before speaking again. ”You know, you should keep an eye out for an ANBU class, they could use thinking like this.“

He turned to start walking down before he stopped. ”To walk along the walls simply do what I told you to do with your weapons only to your feet. It is pretty simply.“ he then reached up and cut the puppet thead she was climbing up.

Best way to learn was to jump in the deep end.

Jirou heard very clearly the blast directed at the ceiling as it went off. He quickly realized that Kuren had chosen to go off on her own. In fact the sound of the blast was actually painful as he looked over towards Karasu shaking his head. Kashikoi whined on hearing the sound. It didn’t stop Jirou as his chakra infused blade slashed through to remaining vines to create an opening for the three of them to get through. The blocked doorway was finally cleared enough for them to escape the classroom. As he and Kashikoi squeezed through the doorway and looked back and saw that the ceiling was mostly gone and that the sensei had made a domed shield to stop the fall of rubble from raining down on them. He shook his head and looked back adding, “Is everyone okay? Great job helping us to escape Karasu. I think we made a really good team.” Looking back towards the sensei he bows respectfully to him, “Thank you for doing the class, sensei. I really learned a lot.”

Karasu was slashing through the vines. It wasn’t hard. She noticed Kuren going her own way using the ceiling. Karasu knew that was open but she wanted to use what they learned in class and working with a team was essential as a shinobi which is what she learned from another lesson. Karasu cut through her side and was able to open the door. Just then there was a loud bang before they were able to get out. Manzo Sensei had used a dome to cover them up while rubble from the ceiling that Kuren had blown up was falling on top of them. ” That could have ended badly if we weren't able to open the door and also had Sensei’s wooden dome to cover us,” she said, shaking her head. She was alright of course as she saw all the rubble after the dome was gone. She waved to Manzo Sensei “Thanks for the class Manzo Sensei” she looked to Jirou and Kashikoi “Good job guys we made a good team.” she smiled. “Let’s head home I’m starving”
