Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The time had come, it was rare that the Vespasian Colosseum closed down its usual going on’s for an event. The air had gone a little stale over the past few days though. Learning about the vanishing of some of the upper tier people, apparently there was a rally for people to really stand out or improve, at least that was what Airi’s guess was. The event itself was more of group learning with a few Chuunin there to supervise. Airi believed that the main reason to go to it, was to see what she could learn, whether that be about herself or about other Gennin.

Airi was wrapping her hands…making sure that she would not get rubbed off or hurt while she was punching. As she did this she started to look around. Airi became slowly aware that due to her Anbu training and more secretive missions that…well…”I have no clue who anyone is…” Airi once again did not seem to have many friends or even squad mates. Most people were talking in groups of two three or four with very few people alone…making Airi one of the ones who looked anti-social. 'They are fillers and nobodies...time for you to strut your stuff Airi!' Airi sighed as she finished wrapping her hands. She had her hear in a pony and was wearing a simple training Gi and form fitted pants. She was going barefoot. ‘Mostly because it feels nice right Airi.’ Airi rolled her eyes…sure…

No one was allowed to use shinobi tools here. Mainly to make sure no one got hurt and two…”This is only the first day of camp.” There were two sides to the coin here. The first was that they could all learn from another and get stronger, this of course would be encouraged with the up and coming Chuunin Exams. The flip side however, ‘Everyone is going to see the others strength, build counter measures so they can fight against you.’ The trick here was that normally these types of things would draw the attention of Chuunin, Jounin, Sennin, and rarely the Kage. Everyone wanted to see who stood out among their peers. And while the Chuunin Exam was the main stage for this, these events were like pre-games. If a master really wanted a certain student, or someone passed away in a solid squad and they needed a fill coming here and picking them early could get you someone good before someone of high rank took them.

In essence, Airi needed to decide if she really wanted to show off and play her cards to get noticed…or simply hide under the radar to make sure no one could plan out how to beat her before the Exams. “Thankfully this year was not inter-village huh Yoko?”

Some of these students were from important family clans or trained since they were young, showed talent and found a master quickly, or were even just naturally gifted. Airi had…none of those. No formal master…considering Maikeru’s vanishing right when they were about to start. ‘You need to move forward Airi not think about what is currently missing.’ Airi needed to get strong quickly. Knowing from Kitsune about the missing upper tiers was maybe not a secret but also not an open thing to discuss yet. Airi needed to shine now. ‘Yea you are no long Anbu Trainee nine-teen lets go out there and make a name for ourselves!’

Airi’s heart skipped a beat though. She decided she should stretch some more. 'A-Airi…what are you doing. Get in line and perform at one of the tests.’ A multitude of devices were out testing strength, endurance, chakra control…you name it. Yet Airi still shivered in fear. ‘Airi…really this Yamamoto no confidence thing is seriously pissing me off!’ Airi got up quickly. “Okay okay! I’ll go…somewhere then…”

Airi looked around and eventually saw a line for a punching machine that gathered precision of hits and amount of damage dealt. As Airi stood in line she got to see some of the others…they all looked, well more shinobi like than her. At least in her mind. ‘Airi I swear to go you better hit this thing like you mean it.’ Airi was nervous…she could feel eyes though they were not all on her. As she got more towards the front she heard the instructor as someone pounded into the machine.

“Alright listen up, do not use jutsu! We just want standard punches! As the targets light up around you hit them. Feel free to go all out, we have Jounin who train with these. Feel free to do your best.”

Airi nodded. As she walked forward to stand in the middle of the punching machine she got nervous. ‘Airi I swear to god I will take over and beat up some random person if you do not breathe and focus!’ Airi nipped at Yoko. ‘Okay fine gezz I’ll punch it.’

As the lights began to turn on Airi started to swing at it. Her punches were solid, nothing special but certain solid. It would be a forgettable performance of nothing good and nothing bad…Yoko however saw this coming…they were not allowed to use jutsu but…the fox gave a mischievous smile back behind Airi’s field of though. ‘Fifth chakra – AGYA…Sixth chakra – BISHUDHA!’ Airi could feel her chakra gates opening up. ‘Wait no Yoko stop!’ She could hear the fox’s laugh…Airi could not slow the swing few last kicks and punches without falling over and failing this.

As such punch, kick, and punch. Suddenly the machine stopped. Airi now slightly out of it looked around. The simply punch, kick and punch had turned it WHAM, CRACK, and a launch. The machine had broken…one target had been sent flying. The Gennin behind her had his mouth open and the proctor looked lost. Airi immediately started bowing and almost screaming, “SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!”

Well…she had drawn attention, maybe not the best kind. ‘Yoko why did you that!’ The snickering from behind the lines only got louder. ‘Time to enter the spotlight Airi-chan~’

Rinko slumped onto the arena bench and looked out over the vast array of training equipment. As a sixteen-year-old, she should have been down in the dirt, working out with all the other teens her age. A technicality involving her paperwork had saved the girl from graduating, thus she'd spent the last two or so years avoiding the higher ups in Kumo so she wouldn't have to become a Genin. The 'mission' Rinko had participated in a few years back had proven to her that she sucked as a kunoichi. If she could delay becoming a Genin, she could delay that fact coming to light.

But she couldn't hide forever. That would be irresponsible...and unprofitable. So she slunk out of her house and chose to scope out the training event being held in Vespasian Colosseum. Perhaps she could find someone she recognized. Maybe she could choose a talented participate to teach her how to be a proper member of shinobi society. Or maybe she could get a good laugh from people's failures. Schadenfreude and all that.

Unfortunately for Rinko, it was she that was destined for pain. When a loud crack sounded out from below, the tanuki girl's gaze darted to the origins of the racket. A speck of something caught her eye, and she furrowed her brows as it grew in size. When it was too late did Rinko realize what it was. The target from the machine struck Rinko square in the forehead, sending her flying backwards into the bench behind her. Air escaped her lungs as her back arched against the stands, and she lay silent and breathless for a time. She gasped loudly as a few fellow spectators gathered around her. She lifted herself up and stomped a foot down. She shouted down in the direction of the broken machine. "HEY! Whaddya doin'?! I'm sittin' ova here!!!" She waved her fists angrily, daring the one responsible to come up and face her.

Airi could suddenly feel the attention of more than few people. Some with interested, others with contempt, some with annoyance, some with envy…the marinade of emotions and attention she got suddenly made her freeze up. ‘Airi…you're joking?’ She felt like her knees were locking up. The exam proctor was saying something but all that was coming through her mind was white noise. She felt like she was saying sorry but she could not even hear herself. As she started to look from face to face she was developing a sense that she could not tell anyone apart. Eye color, hair color…everyone was slowly turning to a dull grey…just voices whispering…talking about her. ‘HEY! This is stupid both our parents are freaking show people, genetically this should not be a thing and if it’s mental you better get over it!’ Airi could not think of anytime in her life she did anything in front of a group of people, the Anbu were all about not being seen…either Airi was frozen and descending into her own mind. ‘Fine, I’ll take over…’

"HEY! Whaddya doin'?! I'm sittin' ova here!!!"

Airi blinked…her Inuzuka ears picking up not just on the voice itself but something else. The speech pattern…the aggressive tone…she knew who this was and with it a small bit of tears would form on her face. Ever since she joined the Anbu training program…she hadn’t seen her in so long. Airi could feel her heart beat, Yoko had tried to take over but she resisted her now. ‘Woah…hey Airi what is this resolve?’ Airi had never reissted Yoko before and Yoko had never really tried to force her persona, the spirit totally startled by this action. Airi started to tremble a little bit, concern clear on quite a few people as some took a step back, worried that the girl before them might be some crazy aggressive person. Airi could feel her chakra swirling from the release of the gates…her drive to move…causing her arms and legs to twitch.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” More of a girly fandom scream than a scream of aggression.

Suddenly the girl would flicker…almost teleporting out of existence. This suddenly caused a panic as even the Chuunin on the ground floor were lost as to where the girl went. A sudden presence might alert the Tanuki to a being now behind her but it was all much too late. Arms slowly enclosed around the disgruntled girl and with the gates no longer powering Airi they would hug a normal amount of server tightness. “RRRRIIIIINNNKKKOOOOO!” Airi’s face firmly planted into her best friend. ‘Wait who…?’

Airi’s happy sqwees slowly turned into crying as Airi clung to her long lost friend. A year was far too long…”Rinko…Rinko…Onesan!” It wasn’t those beautiful reunions were the two hold each other one says it’s okay with pats and small soft tears fell down the persons face. No this was reality. Airi was holding her as hard as the young Taijutsu user could, without chakra it wouldn’t mean death…but Airi was a fairly physically strong Hachimon. The tears coming from both her face a nose made this come off to be what some might call ugly crying. The kind that only those who loved one another would really put up with. 'Airi…oh god have some decency…’

With her new Inuzuka abilities unlocked through smell alone could Airi remember the sweet chaotic home of Rinko and with that the peace and serenity she gained from seeing a warm loving family…well loving in a more altruistic sense.

“I…I’ve missed you…so much…I’m so sorry…so sorry!” It could be for hitting her…it could be for not seeing her…it could be because Airi felt herself a terrible friend. An all-encompassing sorry from Airi’s core. Yoko was dumb founded…the only question in the spirits mind was simply…who are you? Some people around them now giving the duo weird looks.

Rinko's stomach dropped as the culprit below disappeared. Shit! I probably pissed off a jounin. The teen closed her eyes, praying to Raiden that her demise would be swift and painless. Her tail bristled as she felt the presence close in. Arms wrapped around her, and Rinko's spine tingled in anticipation of its soon to be broken status. Instead, a familiar voice blubbered out her name. Rinko lifted an eyelid and turned her head to see her old friend dripping snot all over her tail. "Ai-RI!" The younger teen girl squeezed Rinko even tighter, unintentionally forcing all the air out of the tanuki's lungs. Rinko struggled to reply. "Missed. Too. Can't. Breathe." The Tanuki lightly tapped Airi's arm until she finally loosened the embrace.

Rinko gulped down air and recovered enough to slip out of Airi's bear hug. She placed her hands on her friend's shoulders to both keep her at a distance, but also comfort her. "It's been a long time. You're.......buff." Rinko couldn't help but marvel at the toned arms that had almost choked the life out of her. Airi wasn't nearly as fragile as she was when they first met. Rinko's eyes trailed up to meet Airi's face, only to shoot past to gawk at her friend's new furry ears. The tanuki girl's mouth flapped, but no sound came out. Were the ears real, or just a fashion statement? Did Airi have youkai blood like Rinko? Was she something else entirely? Too many questions swam in Rinko's head, and she eventually had to shake herself out of her daze.

It was at this point Rinko noticed the plethora of stares the two girls were receiving. While normally unabashed, the tanuki found her cheeks heating up at the awkward looks. She wanted to catch up with her old friend, but knew that this was the last place she wanted to do it. Thinking quickly, Rinko devised a plan to get the two to a more private location. She smirked momentarily as she decided to get some revenge on Airi for the new welt on Rinko's forehead. She placed the back of her hand on her brow and feigned a swoon. "Forgive me, old friend. I'm feeling rather woozy, between the blow to my head and the heat of your embrace. I must see the mednin at the infirmary within these coliseum walls. Please, escort me." Rinko wrapped her arms around Airi's neck and attempted to jump into her friend's arms. She wrapped her tail around Airi's waist to hold herself in place. "Onward, my buff beauty."

Feeling the light taps against her arm was the only thing that seemed to register to her. After all her crying up a storm was filling her head with noise. As Airi eased up on the pulling she felt the Tanuki move around a bit. Now fully letting go the young teen, she started to rub her eyes and face, the amount of happy tears was simply overwhelming. ‘Hum…’ The only side thought from Yoko who seemed to be worried or interested in the person before Airi. Finally gaining the ability to breathe and see again, Airi sort of figured out where she was.

Rinko’s first comment to her was talking about how Airi was buff. Airi jumped a little and then looked towards her bare arms. In the shinobi training outfit she could actually see that her arms were toned. Certainly not the soft delicate arms that she had two months prior. She had been working hard especially in her taijutsu…so it was bound to happen that she probably never develop into a beautiful lovely soft lady.

The silence in her mind surprised her. “Oh ahh yea I work real hard on my Taijutsu training!” Airi gave a sheepish smile finally noticing that a couple of people were looking at the two. Maybe they were surprised to see a raccoon girl or something. Airi rubbed her nose so more just to make sure nothing was really left over from her weepy hug attack.

Rinko started to stare over Airi’s head which caused her to look behind her, nothing seemed out of the ordinary so she looked back. Airi did feel a little strange though. Rinko seemed to look as though she was a little sick or woozy. Airi worried that she might not be feeling well. ‘How hard did I just hug her?’

Rinko suddenly moved her hand to her head, Airi just now noticing that there was some sort of bruise or something on there…how did she get that? ‘Oh right shoot the punching machine, I guess the debris must have launched…Wait! All the way over here!?’ How did she…Airi listened to her friend was now speaking funny…oh gods I really hurt her.

Airi suddenly felt the girl wrap her arms around her neck and when she hopped up the teen fox would of course raise her arms to hold her. Feeling her weight on her however Airi was a bit surprised. ‘She really doesn’t feel all that heavy.’ Of course she had not even realized that she was already compensating with chakra any strength she lacked. Airi how no idea how well she had beaten chakra muscle training into her body. It was when her tail wrapped around her waist bumping into her own tail that she put things together. As she started to walk towards the infirmary she could only think…’When had I even transformed…I know I mastered the beast physical state but…normally I at least feel it…no wonder people are staring at us...’ With her tail swishing back and forth she caught a few people who tried to approach her asking how she did what she did. “Oh umm…uhh not right now…I really need help my friend!”

Airi quickly made her way swiftly but safely down the stairs. “Alright Rinko no worries I know the perfect doctor!” Airi eventually set her down near the floor level of the stairs. Airi took a step back only looking outside to hear more people either getting applause, getting upset, or just generally murmuring. Airi felt like she wanted to go back out there only briefly before looking back at her friend. Her heart swelled with how thrilled she was to see Rinko. Nipping her finger she made the hand seals…’I hope this works. "Summoning Jutsu!

A puff of smoke would envelope the girl and as the smoke cleared a slug about two feet long and about a forearm think was looking around. The purple streaks down her back normally made one think of poison though that was a natural defense mechanism. A soft smell of rice paddies started to fill the air. The dry slug looked between Rinko and Airi and then back to Rinko. “Hime…sama…” the small bell like voice called out. “Did you…hurt this individual?” Airi quickly held out her hands, “I promise Farana that it was only an accident!” A soft sigh would come for the slug before it moved rapidly to get closer to a higher stair to see Rinko’s head. “Sweet Tanuki my sincerest apologizes…I promise my little kit is really quite gentle and sweet. Now let me take a look at you.”

Airi blushed a little embarrassed as the mother like slug would start fussing with Rinko. Eventually it’s stalks would turn a soft green and the healing green chakra would pour over Rinko attempting to make her feel better. The A-rank summon would have little issue in dealing with her considering she was a paramedic.

He would periodically look down into his clenched him, looking at the scroll held tightly within. The events from before had transpired quickly, as he could still feel the tension tightly wrapped around his chest he had felt within the confines of the conference room grew unbearable to him. Sure enough, he had insulted the seated council. It had only been days removed from his own altercation with that of the elders that had once been the central seat of power within his own family, despite the claim he would be able to make as the head of the clan. Events around him were moving quickly, without rest or an ability to see around the corner - a matter that troubled him. It was clearly not the way he had envisioned events to unfold when he had awoken that day.

Within his wandering around the village as a means to clear his head from the previously tense situation, he found himself at the Vespasian Colosseum in time for the festivities that would attract would be hopefuls for the upcoming exams. It seemed like eons to him since that had been him, as he stumbled through each of his exams, butterflies threatening to render him useless in the wake of each contest - it was truly only due to the confines and prodding of his family that he pushed through as they continued to force him to achieve even further heights. However, it seemed to be different that day. There had apparently been a commotion from within the arena, as could be observed from a splintered device located within the center of the floor. He moved forward within the scene enough to determine what was going on before following the commotion that would ultimately lead him in the direction of the infirmary.

Normally, it would be commendable that someone at these types of events would be able to cause such damage, he proclaimed loud enough for any who wished to hear him. However, don’t you believe that was a tad overboard, he asked aloud, stopping at the top of the steps leading deeper into the cellar where the infirmary was located. He looked down toward what he had assumed to be a pair, only to find a third party at the location - glowing with a green chakra that typically meant a single thing. Looking at the three, he was unsure which of the group would have been the one ultimately responsible for the commotion within the area, though given time for thought, it was more likely that it was the one who wasn't receiving the medical treatment.

As Airi carried Rinko out of the stands, the tanuki furrowed her brow as her tail grazed against something equally fluffy. She shifted in her friend's arms and looked at Airi's rear. A bushy tail wagged like a metronome in time with Airi's steps. Rinko's brain failed to comprehend how Airi had gained these new appendages, and thus shut down until she was plopped down on the stairs. The tanuki instinctively waved her hand in front of her face as a cloud of smoke wafted over to her. Rinko eyed the squishy arrival, but was generally unsurprised. At this point, it seemed like she was the only one in the village who hadn't made a pact with some random talking creature. The weird part was when the slug referred to Airi as a 'kit'. Do slugs have kits? Do humans have kits? Is Airi even human anymore?!

The questions were too numerous, and thus Rinko resigned to quietly accepting aid from the benevolent slug. The headache that had been developing over the past few minutes melted away as the slug's upper tentacles exuded healing chakra. With her brain fog clearing up, Rinko was prepared to ask Airi a plethora of questions, only for a man to speak up first. The tanuki's lips pouted at the intrusion, and seeing the nervous confusion on Airi's face made Rinko's response to the newcomer a bit harsher than she intended. "Listen up bucko. That training equipment hasn't been replaced in years. It was gonna break eventually." Rinko properly turned to look the man in the eye, only to shrink back at his looming presence. Her tone softened, but the girl wasn't about to stop defending her friend. "I mean, I think I heard the machine rattling the last time someone used it. Granted, that was probably a year ago..." Rinko looked to Airi to make sure she was handling the situation alright.

Airi shifted a bit as Farana went to work. Now that she knew her little paramedic was taking care of Rinko she felt better. As she relaxed her body started to feel a little tired from the gate opening. Her body would turn off the physical style and her tail and ears would go away, revealing her normal looks, just a slightly older brunette. The only thing that would still stand out to Rinko was Airi’s soft brown eyes now being lavender.

Airi had been so focused on Rinko that she had not been paying much attention to her surroundings. One of Airi’s greatest weakness was how focused she got on taking care of her friends. All forms of training left when one of her friends were hurt. Needless to say she should have sensed someone nearby, as a voice cut through Airi’s soft gentle gaze and she startled.

A man suddenly showed up and mentioned that normally it would great if a shinobi could break training equipment. Airi felt an uneasiness settled into her stomach. ‘Yoko…’ Rousing her from her observation Yoko mentally stirred. Random people showing up without introducing themselves were usually scary....

He mentioned that it was a tad overboard. ‘Yeah, this is not a compliment…’ As Airi turned to she clasped her hands in front of her and was about to start apologizing out of her mind. She did feel really bad only getting over that by the sight of Rinko.

The Tanuki shot up coming to her rescue, blaming the equipment that it was moving on in years. While that might make sense Airi was a little nervous wondering if that was the case. The Tanuki line certainly had an eye of appraisal, considering their money based desires. Airi could not make heads or tails on the value of things but if she was ever going to ask anyone, it would be Rinko or her family.

Farana hopped over and then leapt onto Airi’s shoulder.Airi shifted clearly not used to it. The slug turned and bowed her head briefly to the man before restoring her position. “Remember to never be disrespectful my little Kit.” Airi blushed and nervously bowed her head, though she lifted it up quickly. Certainly no one that dangerous was this deep in the village...right? Certainly he was just curious or perhaps here to seek compensation for the item...that would make sense.

Rinko looking back to Airi caused her heart tot skip. Rinko was worried and playing it tough...Airi swallowed and then stepped forward. She bowed her head again and said, “Yamamoto Airi...I am very sorry for the damage I caused and did plan to make amends...I messed up in my control while overwhelmed by the crowds and situation. I normally train alone and guess I have a bit of stage fright. Please let me know how I can make things better.”

Self sacrifice was exactly how Airi would go down and Rinko probably would have seen this coming. “My friend here got hurt because of my carelessness so I am quite sorry to everyone.” Airi was the diplomatic type if nothing else. Hopefully the man before her would be similar. Who knew what he truly wanted.

The outburst that came from the small child accompanying the teenage girl who, ultimately, had caused the eruption at the stadium was the result of his initial questioning of the two intrigued him. It wasn't often he found himself in such a position and it was enlightening given the prior experience he had received, being in contention for the highest seat within their village. He listened to the child, soft locking his eyes to her, as she attempted to defuse a situation as though he was the one responsible for collecting a debt that they believed would be owed. The training equipment may have truly been old; there were frequently times that they would have used older equipment for the lower grades of shinobi, simply due to the belief that such power wouldn't be evident within those ranks.

I believe there's a misunderstanding, he finally stated after looking back and forth between the two. I'm not here to collect any form of restitution for training equipment that was damaged, more due to the fact that no one could actually put into words what you had done; save for murmurs and whispers, was his claim. It was true that the village likely didn't need to worry about the funds, as they wouldn't have held the exercise without the potential to replace or repair whatever they needed to, in the event of an accident. And what caught his attention in the interim was the chaos that had erupted and the apparent resolve to help, more than the destruction.

I wanted more knowledge of the situation, Yamamoto-san, he finished, still not introducing himself.

Airi was nervous until the man responded explaining that their might be a misunderstanding. Airi looked to Rinko who seemed...not nervous per say but maybe more on guard. Airi being a naturally trusting person, never doubted people or thought people were ever going to be out to get them, as such, she just figured she might be in trouble about causing the issue with the equipment.

As he continued to speak he merely wanted information. No one knew exactly what she had done and as such, he wanted to know as much as she did. Airi perked up at this and gave a soft smile.

Airi swallowed first and then started to speak clearly. “I am the daughter of Yamamoto Yamaru. I found out, I am an illegitimate child. As such it turns out due to this I have Youkai blood. This combined with the knowledge that I am a fox strain of the Inuzuka clan and my Youkai heritage means I am...in some capacity, a Fox Demon. At least a little bit. As for the display of power…” The Yamamoto clan were a powerful clan, at least in comparison to her and her upbringing. She wanted ti be clear if he knew the name that she really did not have any authority even with that last name.

Airi had to think about how to phrase it. ”My guardian spirit...my Youkai sister...she helps me to open chakra gates similar to that of a Hachimon. So I explode with Chakra to hit things really hard...she desired that we stand out more and...receive attention...so she activated them and since I was startled I hadn’t the ability to properly hold back.” She wanted to explain everything in detail so Rinko could also be caught up in what had happened to her.

Airi bowed once again, “I am sorry for my lack of control, I promise I am training hard to master these techniques. Upon learning my heritage my training has seen remarkable improvements to my strength. The burst of strength...is not what i am used to since coming to the village.”

Airi lifted up her head and held her hands in front of her.

“A transition period if you will...sort of like adolescents.” A lot of changes and with all the sudden disappearances she had large shoes to fill and quickly. As the fourteen year old girl looked up at the gentleman she decided to ask. “If you...have any additional questions or need something I am of course more than willing to help.”

Airi knew nothing about him but as she was, she was always willing to help anyone.
