Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

[OOC: This is gonna be a quick thread challenge, the tutor will automatically end by midnight of the 31st tomorrow, site time. Our goal is to finish it by then.
rule: I like to use coin flips and a D20 to determine whether your PC succeeds. 1-9 is a fail, 10-15 is a partial, and 16-19 is a success. if you land a 20 its perfect, 100% and looks amazing. I ask you to use this, if you fail or want to try again in the same post, you can up to three times.]

Akumi had it set up, she was going to do another tutor, hopefully, her students would be younger than her this time. But she learned from her mistakes, and she had a better plan for this tutor. She was skillful in fire jutsu, in fact, she knew more than she could use, and it was one of her natures. This class was going to be all about fire, and some camping tricks, like lighting a campfire with chakra. Hopefully, she would get students that naturally had fire chakra talents, it'd be hard to teach someone who is not naturally attuned to fire. She'd do her job either way.

Akumi had her raven hair fully up in a ponytail for this, and she had on her normal green-themed clothing that matched her green renningen. She liked things that flowed together smoothly, and she liked showing off her own beauty, both in her skills, and her physical looks. Though most people did not find the renningen attractive, she has seen a lot of stares and looks of disgust. Those people thought of eye dojutsu as weird and creepy, but she knew the truth. They were beautiful.

Akumi set up at the top of the Hokage rock, there was a perfectly clear space for playing with fire, and it was out of the way from the civilians. She sat down with a book while she waited for her students to come. The book was about a simple mystery horror, she wasn't sure she was into the book really, but she was almost finished with it.

It was morning time, and there was not a cloud in sight, most people were out and about enjoying the nice fall weather. It was always nice this time of year. Fall and winter were the best times to play with fire because it wouldn't get too hot. It made it quite cozy.

A current of wind threw loose leaves into the air as a small figure zipped through the streets of Konoha, the pitter patter of many light footsteps reverberated off of the walls of the houses that this blur of speed passed. To anyone close enough to observing him then they’d see the four-foot one frame of Deguchi Shinzo sprinting as fast as he could. His brown hair was pushed back by the wind he was generating, the rear hemming of his grey tank top whipped behind him but the majority of the top was held to his body by the sheath which held both of Shinzo’s butterfly swords. His arms repeatedly pushed in front of him, driving the boy onwards. His knees were exposed under his black shorts, some minor scrapes dotted over them. His mind was on two things as he ran, the first being the speed at which he was making his journey, he had left home as late as possible to give him motivation to run as fast as possible. Thankfully the streets seemed rather empty this morning and so Shinzo had no run ins with any pedestrians.

The second thought on his mind revolved around the upcoming lesson he was to attend, he hadn’t really met the instructor for long before, but he was excited to learn something new outside of a classroom. Hopefully it was to be about something that Shinzo could take a keen interest. His last lesson by Hokage rock took less time than he had hoped and consisted of but a few questions. Shinzo had eaten well this morning; having had reheated pumpkin soup and sour bread he ran with a warm feeling in his stomach. It provided him with all the metabolic energy that he required for this morning, up until lunch that is.

He rounded the final corner, the final steps towards the top of the Hokage rock lay before him. A slight incline to reach the destination of the class, he closed his eyes for a moment. This would be the most physically straining part of the run, he gathered himself to reach a level of composure which allowed him to continue. His arms dropped behind him as Shinzo lowered his centre of gravity, his legs were doing all the work now, his arms were no longer pumping as Shinzo allowed them to float on the draft of air passing by him. Soon enough he had made it to the top, he moved his head to glance around in search of his instructor for this morning.

Shinzo was evermore enchanted by the green rinnegen, his own green irises circled the boy’s dark pupils that gazed upon the extremely interesting dojutsu. He came to a halt, skidding along the dusty floor, kicking up a small cloud behind him as he stopped. The boy composed himself but still kept his eyes on his instructor, he smiled before pushing his fringe back despite it already being windswept and allowing the palm of his right hand to rest behind his head.

“Erm! Hello.” Shinzo said, with a warm smile still present upon his young face before he gave a small bow in respect. “I’m not late, am I?”

It was a lovely day for Akumi, she felt relaxed with the weather. Soon, however, her time to relax came to a close as she heard the sound of running closing in. Having her Renningen heightened a lot of her senses, she hoped to learn how to focus this more, but for now, she seemed to pick up on random details, smells sounds, and sights. Once she heard the boy skid to a stop, Akumi stood and dusted her legs off. He came just in time of her finishing her book. The ending wasn't anything special, a bit cliche in her opinion. One million books, all with the same plot, the only thing different was the faces, names, and settings.

"Hello, it is nice to see you again." Akumi stated with a nod, she had met Shinzo before, but it was under different circumstances. She didn't really get to know him, all she knew really was his speed. Hopefully, she would be able to teach him something new, and it'd be even better if speedy Gonzales could use it in his future."You are not late, don't worry. It seems you arrived just on time." Akumi stated, although, he was actually early. But like her mother used to say, on time is late, and early is on time.

"Well no point in dilly-dallying, let us get started." Akumi stated as she tossed her book to the side, it might make good fire food later. "I will be teaching you about Fire jutsu today, and the fire chakra nature." She explained then she combined a few hand seals, inhaled, then a fire stream into the air, much like a dragon. It reached at least 10 feet in the air and lasted a few seconds before extinguishing.

Akumi looked at the boy and smiled, "That Jutsu was called Dragon fire, it is a C rank Jutsu." She explained and then she crossed her arms. "It is very common to burn yourself while learning fire Jutsu, but we'll try to avoid that today. For now, I just want to see if you can turn your chakra into a flame, much like the other kid in your class can do with the lightning." She explained, then she opened her palm and focused some of her chakra into it. It heated and soon a flame appeared in the palm of her hand. If he also looked he may have spotted deep creases on the palm of her hands, almost like lips.

Shinzo watched as Akumi finished her book, he held his smile for the time being as she greeted him. He closed his eyes and allowed a small sigh to escape his mouth, it would take him a few minutes to properly gain his breath back. His mind raced but was put at ease by his teacher, he was glad to be just on time, it seemed he had left home at just the right time this morning. And his parents had protested him leaving so late… what did they know anyway? He bent down to dust his legs off too, in a similar fashion to Akumi, he didn’t want to be out of place despite there only being two of them. He stood at just over four feet tall, so shorter than his instructor for the day. He had always admired people taller than himself, secretly he hoped to become tall himself. His mind snapped back to reality as the book hit the ground.

‘Fire jutsu… I don’t know any fire jutsu.’ Shinzo furrowed his brow at the thought. ‘I mean I am going to have to try, maybe I can actually do it but the ability has been hidden away from me for all these years. Maybe I’m better than those Uchiha boys who keep showing off in our practical lessons.’ He watched the hand seals intently, attempting to remember the meaning of each one, which to his surprise he pretty much did. Shinzo could not help but to take a step backwards as the broad wave of fire carved its way through the air and into the sky. “Wow.” He didn’t even mean to speak but at this point he was so taken a-back by the jutsu and his instructor. The pillar of flame shot up at least to the size of two and a half Shinzo’s. He watched the flames dance for a moment before they disappeared.

“That’s amazing,” Shinzo said completely in awe “how did you do that?” He looked down to his hands, trying to remember the hand seals that Akumi had just used to focus her chakra. It was slow at first but soon Shinzo was able to copy most of the hand seals reasonably well. He raised his right thumb and forefinger to his lips and shot his chakra forth. What came next was a less than dazzling display of sparks that faded almost as instantly as they appeared. Shinzo grunted and gasped because at this point he was still running on low oxygen, but not satisfied with his performance at all. He looked over towards his instructor with determination in his eyes. His stance widened, right foot behind left as he leaned forwards in an attempt to help himself focus his energy. Again he made the hand seals, still slowly as he focused on getting them right. He raised his hand to his mouth once more, he felt a warmth growing in this throat as he breathed outwards. And there It was, a reasonably small ball of flames which flew about three feet into the air before dissipating.

Shinzo seemed slightly happier with this performance but he was still not satisfied. Again he made the hand seals, this time a bit faster than the previous two. He felt the energy growing in his stomach, maybe this would be the time he would get it right. He could feel it now as he raised his fingers to his lips. A burning sensation shot up from his stomach and approached his mouth. ‘Come on, come on.’ He was at peak concentration right now. The burning sensation grew stronger as it reached his throat. ‘I have it!’ he thought as the burning intensified in his mouth. He opened his mouth only to be sick on the floor at his feet. Not quite the flaming jutsu that he was expecting. At least it was slightly orange from breakfast…

Akumi blinked as the child asked how she did it, "Practice, as you train you'll unlock higher level Jutsu." She explained, but before she could say anything more, he was trying to do it himself. He got sparks down, but it wasn't it. SHe couldn't help but smirk. This isn't what she told him to do, but if he insisted on trying it, then she wasn't gonna stop him. His first attempt wasn't all that bad for a student trying to do a much higher level jutsu. His second attempt actually got a small fireball. Much better than the first time, but far from perfect, or good. That wouldn't do a thing in battle.

Finally his last try, it was worse than all the rest as his breakfast came out instead of fire. Akumi grimaced at the sight, this was the consequences of trying a jutsu way out of your league. He was gonna one way or another, but since he decided to try it before she could explain it, he ended up sick. "If you try too hard, or try a Jutsu you are not ready for, you will obtain way more fails than success. You are not ready for C rank Jutsu." Akumi explained. "One step at a time, otherwise you will trip." Akumi then stepped away and waited for him to pull himself together.

Only after he was up on his feet she would continue. "Since you are determined to learn a Jutsu, I'll show you a jutsu of your rank. Watch closely." Akumi stated then she put her hands together, in a couple of hand seals, not many at all. A flame appeared in her hand, she quickly tossed it in the air, and it burst into sparks that popped and scattered. It made a loud popping noise, and essentially it was much like a small firework. "That jutsu was called Infernal Ember, it is a low-level jutsu, but it can still burn your opponents." Akumi explained.

Maybe she should have started out with that jutsu? Nah, he needed to learn that you couldn't just jump in and do a high-level jutsu if it was not something you trained to do. Some were naturally skilled in certain elements, but even those shinobi still needed to train hard to perfect it. Including the Uchiha's talents. She understood his rush though, she was the same way not too long ago.

The small boy remained bent forward as his breakfast poured from within, his hands moved to clutch his stomach. What made this feeling worse was the embarrassment that he was unable to perform a jutsu to such an extent that his own body betrayed him, he had never quite failed to produce a technique so this extent before. Was it the fire? Was it due to the fact that he still hadn’t allowed himself to correct his breathing fully? He glanced up towards his instructor, colour filled his cheeks as he stood up to face her with the most embarrassment he had ever endured. Only after meeting her gaze did he shuffle to move away from the vomit no jutsu that he had produced, kicking some dust onto the pile to try and disguise it. A sigh escaped his lips as he moved away from the pile on the floor. “I’m sorry about that, you’re right, I tried too hard.” He sighed once more thanks to the humbling experience, he mustn’t over estimate himself again. It was something that Shinzo had seen many times, there were so many of his peers who positioned themselves high above everyone else for no real reason. Everyone was skilled, but Shinzo had to recognise his own limits in terms of ninjutsu, he was still an academy student after all.

His face did light up as Akumi began to speak of learning a new jutsu. The boy’s own green eyes locked onto the teacher’s hands to analyse each hand seal that was crafted. As the flame grew in her hands he watched with intense focus. He blinked as the popping sound filled his ears as it burst into sparks, and he watched as they dissipated into the air.

Shinzo began to copy the seals in the order that he had been shown, each one he created with care to make sure they were as accurate as possible. He felt his chakra channelling to his left hand, there was a warmth and soon a small ball of flame rested in his palm. He managed to control it for a moment before thrusting it into the air and watching it burst as soon as it left his hand. Not quite as effective as Akumi’s but he was getting there. He looked over to her and smiled, it was still far from perfect, but it was something. Hopefully this improvement would give his teacher some slight faith in his abilities with the fire chakra style and ninjutsu.

Akumi shrugged as the boy apologized to her, every ninja tried to that, it was not uncommon. "It's okay, I think you learned that lesson." She found it a bit funny though, he really wanted to prove himself. Akumi felt a little bit lucky to be able to teach a future shinobi something, and hopefully, he would not forget it.

Akumi watched Shinzo perform the Jutsu, she knew he could do one of his level. As he grows it would become a little more powerful, and he'll become better at it. Once he mastered it, it would be as big and as bright as Akumi's fire jutsu. "Nicely done. Don't worry if you keep practicing, on your own time, it'll become easier, and you will see your flame grow." Akumi explained. Basic fire jutsu could also be used for things other than fighting, such as survival.

"Okay, now I'll move on to show you a survival technique, using another simple fire jutsu." Akumi started, then she moved together up sticks. She motioned Shinzo to watch. She gathered sticks and placed them in a loose pile, then she used an earth jutsu to build a small wall around them. "You may choose to ignore that earth jutsu, it's actually a defensive jutsu, used on a much tinier scale called Earthslide Wall, it is an A-rank jutsu. You can place rocks around the fire, and dig out a hole for a fire in the wilderness. I just used that jutsu to save time." Akumi explained.

Akumi then kneeled in front of the fire pit. "Now the wall, out ditch provides a security measure, only slightly though. When you are hiding, it doesn't allow the light to travel, but it only fully works on dim fires. It also makes it so the fire doesn't spread to other places." Akumi said, then she focused her chakra in her chest and throat, inhaled, and then blew out a small breath of fire.

"That is another low-level jutsu, that you can possibly do. It is called Thermal Maw, it is useful to warm up your own body in cold climates, and can be used in battle. As you can see it can start campfires very easily. It doesn't require hand seals, You just have to infuse your breath with your chakra. I might sound hard than it looks, but once you get it, you won't forget, kinda like riding a bike." Akumi explained, she then pointed at the fire pit, "Now you make one, don't try the jutsu until you make a small fire pit." AKumi stated, she wanted him to show her he could make a simple fire pit, and listen to orders before trying out a new jutsu. Even if it was derpy, it was better than nothing, it'd show that he was listening and watching everything, and not just the use of Jutsu.

Shinzo beamed at the response from Akumi, he had grasped the jutsu as much as he could in the attempt that he had. If he was honest, it had surprised himself potentially more so than it may have surprised his teacher. He focused once more as the young shinobi in training committed the technique to memory, he would include this jutsu in his training regime from this moment onwards.

Survival was an aspect of his syllabus that Shinzo hadn’t really been overly interested in, it often took too much time. He could light a fire by hand with a few sticks and kindling but that took way too long for the impatient student. He watched Akumi raise a fire pit from nothing, now that was something that Shinzo couldn’t do at the present moment. His eyes lit up as his instructor allowed a breath of fire to escape her lips and into the fire pit, lighting it in an instant. Now that was something he had to learn.

Shinzo listened intently to the instructions that were then given to him. ‘Right time to make a fire pit, that is part one of this mission!’ He thought to himself as he began to walk around picking up multiple stones from the floor, he left a few that he deemed to be too small and brought several large rocks with him. He moved back towards the fire pit created by his instructor and proceeded to construct a fire pit of his own with the stones that he had collected. Frequently the boy would glance to Akumi’s fire, mentally measuring it’s diameter and shape to reproduce the pit with his own equipment. Soon it was constructed and within he placed the small twigs and sticks as well as a few pieces of kindling.

Shinzo stepped back and dropped to his knees, placing his right palm on his chest to help him focus his chakra from his stomach. He prayed that this would not end up finishing in the same way as his last fire ninjutsu that he had expelled from his mouth. He took a deep breath in from his nose and channelled his chakra into his breath. Shinzo released the slight heat from within to reveal only a few sparks, it was clear he had almost reached his limit at this point, which was made even more evident by the two more attempts which he made that did not actually produce fully fledged fire. He sighed having been unsuccessful but looked up to Akumi to see her response.

Akumi watched as Shinzo built the fire place and a very good one at that. He did everything she told him too. It was a bonus since she didn't tell him what kind of rocks, or sticks to use. She wanted to see how good he was at improvising, it was a very important skill after all. Once he got to the fire breath, he seemed to be all out of chakra and looked at akumi in a sad kind of way. Akumi gave him a smile and leaned down to his fire pit and blew a small breath of fire to light it.

"This is a very good fire pit." Akumi stated, she was more happy that he did a good job building the pit than the jutsu. "Chakra is a limited source, there are ways to replenish it as you probably know. When you run out on the field, remember to turn to mates for help, never be ashamed if you run out of chakra too fast. The more you train, the more chakra you will have." Akumi explained to Shinzo.

Akumi then placed her hands into a few different hand seals, and opened her palm to the flame, shooting water at the fires to put them out, making sure they were soaked in order to prevent a wildfire. "That is a low-level water jutsu called water gun, it can do damage if you make it more pressurized. Always make sure you put out the fires, either by water, or dirt. Unless a wildfire is your goal. " Akkumi said, then she stood and stretched.

"That's all for this lesson, thank you for coming by. Go and rest, restore your chakra. You deserve a good break for the day." Akumi stated with a large grin, she was obviously pleased with the results.

After a goodbye, Akumi turned and gathered her things and began to walk back home. She did wave to Shinzo as she walked away.

Shinzo was thankful for the praise given to his fire pit. He smiled up to Akumi as she acknowledged his chakra was running low at this point, she was right, he did need to practice more but with time that wouldn’t be an issue. After all, Shinzo did train every day for as long as he could. He watched as the fire was put out and then stood to leave. He offered Akumi a bow before he turned away from her. “Thank you, Sensei. Have a good day.” Without a moment’s notice he began to sprint off, returning to wave to Akumi as he went. This morning had been a success, now it was time to see what the rest of the day had to offer.
