Kyo sat upon a tree inside of a dense forest within the borders of Lightning Country. It was dark, very dark. Kyo had to let his eyes adjust to the dark before he went out on a midnight run. Kyo eyeballed a small rabbit like a hawk, seeing what little bit of starlight sparkling through the thick foliage reflected off of the small bunny's eyes. Kyo slowly removed and arrow from his quiver and strung it into his bow. He took a deep breath and pulled the arrow back, holding his breath. He performed coarse aim-correction and fine aim-correction on the rabbit. His heartbeat banged like wardrums before letting the arrow loose, spearing the creature through the side of the throat, causing it to fall over to it's side and bleed out. Sealing this victory, Dakota jumped off of the tree and ran over towards the corpse of the rabbit and confirmed the kill. [lb2][/lb2] As Dakota ran off towards that rabbit, Kyo spotted another creature in the woods. The loud squealing made the game very obvious. His mouth watered before stringing in 2 arrows into his bow and pulled it back. He remained quiet and just breathed. Kyo released the arrows and a loud squeal could be heard, reverberating through the wood as the boar let out it's final death-wails. "Go get it, Dakota! We're eating well tonight!" Kyo said with a loud shout as he jumped off of the tree and ran towards the boar's body; it flailing around as it continued to squirm around, squealing in pain. Kyo removed a knife from his pouch and jammed the tip of it into the base of the creature's spine, instantly killing it. He wiped the blood off of the blade and returned it into his pouch. Entering the forest wasn’t all that troublesome. Jien was used to moving about in his earlier years, and he came to learn that when his wanderlust was strong but he wasn’t allowed to leave Kumogakure that he could always go out to the outskirts and find himself a new place to explore. Such was this forest that was, prior to this day, noted on his map of Lightning Country. He had met a few travelers before who had told him of the landscape in this area, speaking of a nice forest to hunt. It wasn’t so much about hunts that intrigued him, rather, it was the concept of a new territory to get to know.

Of course, he had to wait for a long time before he was finally approved to have a few days off. With the tournament in Tea and new chuunin coming off from the recent exams, the earlier days had been a bit hectic. Patience was the key, however, and it would seem his reward would be a fruitful one. Eyeing the forest from outside, Jien could already feel a different kind of excitement building up inside of him. All set, he tugged at the the strap of his rifle case that hang behind him, inconspicuously looking like a normal bag as opposed to be a form-fitted case, before he entered the premises.

Strangely, the first thing he noticed upon entering the forest were chakra pulses just ahead. Questions crossed his mind, but so did curiosity. Thus, he cautiously followed the path towards the sources of these chakra pulses that were obviously not your ordinary hunters.

The scent of cooked rabbit and cooked pig wafted through the air, spreading out even through the dense brush of the forest. Neither moonlight, nor starlight, could penetrate the thick brush that Kyo and Dakota found themselves in. The campfire was the only source of light within this forest and due to the corridor-like structure that was carved out, the light from the fire carried further than it would if it dispersed into the open air; similar to someone focusing a beam of light through a flashlight as opposed to a lantern. [lb2][/lb2] Kyo stared down at the rabbit that was skewered upon a twig with a look of disgust. Dakota didn't much mind the taste of roasted pig, but Kyo only EVER cooked bird. The thought of eating a cooked mammal struck him as preposterous and a form of sacrilege. Nature didn't intend on animals to be cooked (other than fowls, because that'll make Kyo sick) so the thought of cooking something like a rabbit was a foreign idea. Ideas that he brought over since living with the humans had piqued at his curiosity, but it also piqued at his disgust as well. Before he was capable of taking a bite into the slightly-overcooked rabbit, Kyo drops the foot, kicked dirt onto the fire in order to extinguish it and went into hiding. [lb2][/lb2] He heard noises and detected someone nearby. He didn't know who nor did he know how many, distance, size, or anything else. It wasn't a sixth-sense, but it was a form of intuition from being out in the wilds for so long. The intuition wasn't as sharp as it should be due to having lived with the humans for too long, but it was good enough to keep him alive. This also gave Dakota, the massive white Direwolf, a queue to do the same. A look of disappointment wasn't quite visible due to the darkness and thickness of the wood, but she left behind a half-eaten, still warm carcass of a wild pig. Kyo and Dakota hid themselves within the wood and simply awaited the arrival of whomever approached. As Jien went further into the forest, the area began to darken. He knew he was moving deeper, crowded by dense trees and yet he could still faintly smell the scent of roasting meat. But as soon as he approached near the area, his own senses for chakra pulses seemed to have felt a sudden movement. At that, there was the scent of died out flame in the air and he knew that whoever it was may have noticed his presence. He shrugged at the thought that he was being regarded as a potential threat. That could only mean that whoever this person or creature was, they were very wary of strangers entering their territory.

“Come out,” called out Jien as his lay ready and next to the handguns on strapped on the holster by his hips. “No use hiding unless you’re guilty of something.” He would wait for a bit more but as soon as he heard shifting movements to the bushes to the side, Jien would quickly get into action.

"Identify yourself!" Kyo shouted out, remaining in the shadows. His voice bounced off of the many trees that were tightly packed into the safe and secure area that he and Dakota took homestead at. The man's demands were, in Kyo's eyes, rather silly. One does not simply trounce into another's 'territory' and make demands. The only time that happens is when someone is trying to take over one's territory or they came for a fight; this rang true even in the animal kingdom. One of the very few things the humans shared with the animal kingdom involved territory.[lb][/lb] "And don't you humans generally make yourself known if you don't mean any harm?" he asked before Dakota jumped out from the darkness and whizzed right passed Jien, positioning herself on the other-side of the white-haired intruder, taking up an offensive posture. She growled and beared her fangs at the stranger, letting out a series of loud, menacing barks in his direction. Jien's posture changed to reflect an offensive posture forcing Kyo to approach Jien, giving the man a wide berth, on all fours. Kyo's fangs elongated and his claws sharpened. A sudden shout across the forest would alarm Jien. Soon enough, a creature would move past him and his eyes laid upon the large white wolf that bore its fangs at him. He kept his cool, not quickly attacking at that point as he felt another chakra pulse around him. He let his senses search, letting his power flow in observing the chakra pulses of the forest until he felt this anomaly finally show itself. Behind him appears a man… a wild man, his chakra pulses uneven and almost raging. Jien could see that his presence have agitated this two, but he was nowhere from backing down.

“True. Normally, men try to say their intentions well, but there’s more deception in words than in actions, friend,” said Jien. He may have said it unconsciously, but he may have also recognized that this person– this wild man and his wolf– were far from the bandits and those that truly seek to wreck havoc in lives of men. Still, there was aggression in his chakra’s nature and that meant Jien had to be careful.

Thus, upon the other’s words, Jien quickly took to action. He would fire quick successions with his choice gun – Dandelion– all the while avoiding their movements. At this point, he suddenly changes his weapon into his longer rifle, quickly sliding it off from his rifle case while putting back Dandelion into their holsters. And in one swift movement, he would fire. Miss. He clicks his tongue before a praise escapes his lips, “That’s rather surprising. I guess I shouldn’t underestimate you. At the very least, from your intent, you’re not far worse than most. Let me see more of what you can offer.”

At that, Jien let out a surge of his charka that wove into a kind of aura that shot out in waves. Then both his enemy and himself were of the same mind to hide within the darkness of the forest. Never the less, they seem to equally find ways to stay out of sight, though he must admit, the wolf was rather relentless in this endeavor to find him, thus prompting him to constantly move.

Both Kyo and Dakota had issues keeping an eye on Jien after his quick onslaught just after the two engaged into combat. Kyo took his position in the shadows as the man continued to talk. The nerve of this man, who also took to the shadows, to continue talking. If this was a training session, this wouldn't be bad (as he had done it, himself, as a means of instruction) but talking so much would give away one's position. Kyo began to calculate what he should do to fix his position. [lb2][/lb2] Dakota, on the other hand, snarled and looked around, letting out some extremely loud barking. Kyo had a feeling that this man wouldn't attack Dakota as Dakota's attacks have been inconsequential up to this point. He leaned on Dakota to be the one to bring the man out of stealth while also actively pursuing him while remaining hidden. This was probably one of Kyo's most difficult, if not outright annoying, battles that he had to deal with now. Moving his hand up to his headband, he quickly removed the article of clothing and gently placed it down and pulled his hair back to reveal the 3 set of eyes upon his forehead. [lb2][/lb2] These eyes looked around, having a mind of their own. One had a clock for the iris, one had a glossy steel-like appearance, while the third eye (which resided in the top middle of the triangle) remained closed. A poison streamed through his system, dying his veins a strange black color. With a groan, he shook his head and looked around for the target. "Not even hell wants me! HAHA!" Kyo shouted out, having his voice bounce off of the many trees in the thick, thick forest. A little bead of sweat dropped from his forehead as relief washed over him. Would've been bad if he actually got swept up into the gates of hell. Dakota let out a loud bark, wagging her tail before gnashing it's teeth and the strange, terrifying creature that just appeared. Kyo had never seen something so abominable in his entire life until he saw this terrifying creature. The question of 'what the fuck is that' came into his mind along with 'where in the hell did that demon spawn from' also popped into his head. He had seen some twisted things, but this was something else entirely. [lb2][/lb2] Kyo whistled causing Dakota to turn her eyes solely upon Jien, who Dakota did a fantastic job of keeping him honest. The shadows was where Kyo played and someone like this intruder could butt out. Taking a deep breath, Kyo had black and green energy started to evaporate off of his skin, pumping dark energy into the atmosphere. Kyo let out a howl of agony as his shape started to change. Through the pain, however, Kyo let out a small chuckle. "Almost there!" Kyo said out loud before releasing yet another whistle towards Dakota's directions, relaying attack orders to the massive Direwolf, who seemed to look like Kyo. [lb2][/lb2] "Stupid human! Jien was caught off guard as he was kept busy by the wolf, momentarily missing the redhead target. Nevertheless, having tried to summoned that demonic gate, he was self-critical and made a mental note to further train his ninjutsu prowess on other days. Still, he made sure to keep his attention at the present as he found himself at a disadvantage. He may have hunted multiple targets before, or had past experience when dealing with groups, but knowing he was far from his younger self, and this man being far from those gangs in Old Arcadia, he was better off to be prepared properly.

As such, Jien makes for a quick recover and summons his ally. A bite on his thumb to let blood trickle before he grabs a prepared scroll from one of his pockets and reveals its contents of undefined scripts seemingly alien to man. This was the way the slugs of Sakuna’s Forest made pacts and so he pressed his hand, let his blood flow into the parchment and fill it with his chakra pulse, bringing to life the scripts in a brief glow. Then a poof of smoke releases until a small bluish slug suddenly jumps through the smoke and makes an acrobatic twirl before landing squarely on the ground with a feisty grin.

It would have been okay, but then the target called out to him with a taunt that made Jien frown. “Sorry but I had no parents to begin with. So I guess that explains why I’m me… is what you’re implying, huh?” He replied. He wasn’t mad, nor was he forgiving. He simply didn’t like it when foes try to dabble into the personal.

He would make a few assaults with a combination of his guns. As he drew upon Egoist, the black and yellow specially designed gun, its mechanisms would react to the pulsating chakra as it transforms to bare its blade. Releasing its new form allowed Jien to attempt at the feral man. Unfortunately, failing the attempts would confirm his thoughts of the latter’s prowess in combat. He should not be taken lightly. It was to his surprise that Tyki stepped up his game and let loose a couple of his own attempt to redirect the flow of battle. Still to no avail. But that wouldn’t really pose a problem for the two, and as such, Jien switched back to his trusty silver pair– Dandelion– as he spotted a good opportunity to regroup his thoughts for his next actions.

As the battle continued, Jien saw that the new form that his opponent took was definitely far from anything resembling a man. It made him all the more certain that this individual was nothing short of rational. If this incident were to be left unchecked, it could spell potential problems in the future and risk others. Of course, this was because he was not yet aware of the other’s intent.

In any case, the white wolf was proving to be quite the audacious creature, seemingly finding him as a perfect chew toy in its every attempt to engage in battle. Tyki would spare him glances in concern but the white-haired shinobi knew better than to make his friend worry. He was far from giving up even as he heaved deeply at the strain he felt across his body. Unlike those who shied away from battles of uncertainty, he was more than willing to push his luck. But unlike the thrill-seekers, the reason was simple– every opportunity was to be taken as a means of learning for now and for future use. So he showed his versatility, far from the one-act man who simply relied on his guns, letting out a few attempts of weaving through chakra to penetrate the opponent. Even if fate has thrown an awful roll on him, he wouldn’t spare a moment to mope while he could still fight on.

Kyo had finished his transformation before the man's eyes. While Kyo felt pain from the strikes by Jien and the thing that accompanied him, he didn't outwardly show it. Black and green energy spiraled around him, sounding like a hurricane in a bottle. A loud roar could be heard from Kyo as immense pressure could be felt emanating off of him. Kyo took a heavy step forward, causing the vegetation to grow at an accelerated rate before withering away with each cursed step. Kyo took another step towards Jien before jumping onto all fours and lets out a howl before running his way towards Jien, ignoring the abomination that was his summon. While he was an accomplished shooter, that did not mean he forgone his ability to manipulate his chakra. As such, he was able to deceive the wild man and the wolf by covering his movements with the use of his guns, though drawing power from nature itself. Not to mention that his connection with Tyki has allowed further options for manipulating chakra to expend on his target. Still, he would be impressed by the latter’s tenacity and maneuverability with his wolf. Had he not have his own access to a memory of an undying warrior in a coliseum fight, right where he saw and analyzed the chakra pulse on how he could suddenly gain vitality so suddenly, he would have succumb to their attacks. But alas, Jien’s experience and the myriad of fighting memories that played in his mind was able to keep him on his toes, alert, and decisive. Together with Tyki, they would deal the harshest of Justus and watch the opponents falter before finally falling.

Once the battle was deemed over, the link between Jien and Tyki ended. He would feel a sudden burden thrust upon him but he would not show any weakness. He gasped for air for a bit before he straightened his stance and then walked with an even pace. He stopped before the fallen man and then knelt next to the unconscious body. From that brief fight, he could almost tell there was neither malice in his actions nor in his words. It was all genuine.

As such, he made a few handseals and applied some healing Justus for the two. “My apologies for any offense,” he would say, though he knew they wouldn’t hear him. Then, he would make another handseal and created a few clones of himself to help lift the man and his wolf. If he recalled correctly, there was a small inn not too far from that forest, along the small roadside village. Best to leave him in one of the rooms to rest properly. Though really, he should’ve bothered to reach into Kyo’s memory to know that leaving the wild man unconscious in an unknown room in the middle of a town would definitely be a bad idea.
