Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Gotta Catch Em All! [Private]

“I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was . . .”

Thus he was here! Exclamation aside he was thoroughly convinced that there were many peering eyes looking but he ignored them. Currently his Gameboy was telling him that there was a nearby trainer with a few badges necessary to take on the Elite Four but that was neither here nor there. He was supposed to be here on official Tsuchi no kuni business and Hissori would have his head if he found out that Umashi had spent such time playing a children’s game. Thankfully his clothes were clean despite the pace that he had kept. Couple that with the mask on his face and he might have looked every bit the sight of a foreigner or heaven forbid a nuke-nin. A stray shadow out of the corner of his eye and he slowed his approach. It wouldn’t take long to get some attention at all by his count. Hopefully none of them were the Digimon playing sort because he totally had left that game back in Iwa and it would be a pain to have to travel all the way back just to come all the way back to here in order to armor digivolve. Truly though, it was about time for somebody to reinvent the video game though. 2D sprites that could barely give any emotion were losing their luster, 3D was the way to the future and rumor had it that Virtual Reality was being talked about. Focus . . . focus . . . Umashi had to focus. He was here on Stately affairs.

OOC: On my phone so pardon the lack of cleanliness in my post.

Re: Gotta Catch Em All!

He casually flipped his newly obtained Cascade Badge, which he obtained from the Kirigakurian Gym Leader many months ago. His pokenav went off, alerting him of a near by trainer. Hm, I wonder what he has in store; hopefully he is stronger than the last trainer. Luckily for him, he could play his vidya games all day everyday; he was a strong, independent shinobi, who didn't need no village. He stood silently in the shadows and observed his next victim; the man had a red hood, and a red mask, and everything was red for him, and himself; cause he got nobody to listen, to listen.

He stepped from the shadows, and made eye contact with the man; the universal sign of Prepare to duel! Yet he left his duel disk at home, so he would have to deal with the classic pokemon battle, Oy! He shouted to the man; he had never seen a man such as him in Kumo before, so he could've been a humble traveler, but maybe he was the notorious Red the one who beat the Elite Four. If that was the case, Kouin would be in for a tough one. He slide out his Special Edition Kirigakure Gameboy Advance SP, and locked eyes, Think you can handle this?

[Topic Entered]

Wait, what the heck! Apparently somebody was nearby! Knowing that he’d have to move quickly, Umashi hurried up and activated his wifi in order to connect. Going through a battle was one thing but making sure that your connection was secure was another. He didn’t need any pesky hackers trying to disturb his grove. The thought occurred to him though as to if he probably should have called a no legendary rule.

OOC: Calling bmod

It appeared the man was of few word, as if he was a mysterious main character from some sort of plot story. Whatever the case, the two had locked eyes, and that was that. They would now have to go toe to toe to see who would be champion of kanto, the very best like no one ever was. So we usin' little cup rules? I ain't got nothing evolved! He never believed in evolving his friends without their permission, what if they liked the form they had? Who was he to force them to change? Ash Kouin always hit the B button, unless he had the go ahead, but the challenger in front of him didnt appear to hold the same ideals. He seemed to favor power, he would definitely be a tough trainer to take down.

I am enjoying the read so I do not like being the messenger, however unfortunately Admin has discussed this topic and this goes severely past our technology rules.

I'll correct the issue in my next post and keep things IC. Thank you for not outright voiding the topic . . . Or is that what you're doing? In any event I'll ask the bmod to keep it rolling

“There are four kinds of walls in the world . . .”

"Argh!" Umashi cried as he tripped over a rock of some kind and spilled the contents of his bag all over the ground before him. So much for keeping his wares clean on the journey. Bending down to pick up the books and papers that had seemingly jumped out of his bag, he spied all sorts of charts and diagrams, important mission papers and the like that would totally have to be refiled later on. He was in a bit of a time crunch considering the fact that he was desperately needed back in Iwa and getting all confused thanks to a trip of the rift wasn't in his plans for being overly considered. Groaning as dirtied papers and manuals were delicately brushed off, he smirked as he spied out at least one interesting find in his somewhat endless bag, that of one of his favorite manga. Indeed, the colorful pages moved him so much that he felt a measure of due diligence to waste the time of thumbing through it. This particular manga was about these interesting little pocket creatures coincidentally called "Pokemon". This wasn't by any means the beginning of the story but in this particular issue, the famed hero "Red" was about to face off against his somewhat less cool but far more flashy doppelganger "Ash". How had the story ended again? He could barely remember and considering that he was close enough to Kumo . . . well . . . sometimes you just needed to take a break from being a ninja to enjoy a good read. Turning another page, he was less than shocked to see that Ash had started the battle off with his god modish "Pikachu". Ugh, how he hated that ever spazzing rodent.

OOC: So now we're in a book . . . that Umashi is reading . . . not playing a video game that breaks the tech rules. [Sends this on over to the admin to try and keep the party moving]

Kouin hadn't done a gate duty in ages, nor encountered a sennin from another village, but something about this man screamed piratey cleric from a village full of stoners. What an odd bunch... The man was clearly fumbling with a mass of paperwork, maps, but something caught Kouin's eyes; it was the latest issue of the Pokemon manga, the issue where Red faces the anime incarnate Ash, who was way more lame.

Sliding on over next to the pirate, he began to read over his shoulder, I'ma just stand right here, and read over your shoulder... The battle had started a little unexpected; Ash had started with a simple speed boost on his Pikachu, it was a bold move, but we'd see if it would pay off. Red on the other hand had dashed off the line without missing a beat, and the pikachu had taken some damage, but the battle wasn't quite over, Oi! Turn the page!

“Name that Pokemon!”

. . . If Umashi had been man not deeply vested and assured of his own masculinity then he might have felt some kind of way with how comfortable this baby face looking guy seemed to be about sliding up next to him and taking a peek at his manga. As it stood though, with the nonchalant way in which he did so, Umashi was only assured of his power so he just went with the flow. Only silly people and battle monsters did such reckless things. Getting back to the story though, Umashi scoffed at the dastardly Pikachu before smirking as he saw the epic Red summon forth his Dragonite. Yep, a swords dance here and a draco meteor there, and that Pikachu wasn't looking so hot. Umashi had to hold back from fist pumping the air but while he had company he simply turned the page though he did ask one question."Are you one of those original 151 purist or 'nah'?"

“You said you have a dream . . .”

Bah, it was all a sham! Red had been dominating the whole fight and then Ash and his never evolving Pikachu managed to even the score. Of course this was right after Red had whipped out a Mawile and had it mega evolve. This was the part that Umashi really liked, when Red completely shut his opponents down and did away with any dreams that they had of ever making a comeback. Red was totally about to make light work of this copycat but the even more annoying Team Rocket showed up and then everything just hit the fan. Wanting to savor the final battle for a much more opportune time, Umashi sighed and closed the book. “While it’s good to find another reader of fine quality Manga, I must be honest and state that I originally came here to converse with the Kumogakure higher ups about intervillage matters between them and Iwagakure.” Umashi nodded as he began to pack the manga up and collect what papers were left on the ground. It wasn’t that he was trying to be rude but he really had to worry about the time that he was spending away when Iwa was vulnerable. If Kumo was like any other village though, the man before him was anything but some random wandering Genin but he’d err on the side of caution. “How does one get an audience with the deal makers in Kumo my good sir?” Yes, cutting to the chase worked for that Ash kid that he despised so much, so maybe it would work for him too.

OOC: Thanks Shiggy, we'll no longer need a bmod. Sorry for the lack of depth, dealing with a blizzard and all.

Darn. Red's Dragonite used a useless swords dance as he followed up with an astounding Draco Meteor, pity he didn't know Draco Meteor used Spec.Atk and not regular Atk; twas a rookie move. Ash's pikachu gave the Dragonite a few shocking blows, but the tiny mouse had no chance against the monster in this state, and the battle had finally concluded with Team Rocket showing up, yet again. Twas an expected finish from both sides; as Team Rocket always showed up to twat Red or Ash's shenanigans. Kouin was a bit saddened the man put the Manga away, it was such a climactic part too, but that's life.

Kouin raised an eyebrow at the piratey looking fellow, I do agree about the finer things in life, I hadn't read that chapter yet, so it was nice getting a sneak peek. Though before we get to the root of your reason for coming to Kumo, I would appreciate formal introductions before hand. With a bit of bow, he would give his formaliest of formal introductions, Kaze Kouin, Sennin of Kumogakure at your service. Though he had to be careful flaunting out his title, which is why he didn't specify which branch. He stuck his hand out for a firm shake, cause that's what manly men do. After introductions were through, he would get to the root of his reason. So for deal makers, I would be one of those people, so how may I assist you?

“To protect the world from devastation!”

Umashi nodded and extended his hand for the courteous gesture. "The names Umashiashikabihikoji, but you can just call me Umashi for short. Former Pirate King, retired Nidaime Hokage and yes there's a story about that, current Sennin of Iwagakure . . . of which all of that was a mouthful but needless to say, I didn't choose the shinobi life, the shinobi life chose me in a most literal way."he paused as he pondered on the Kaze Kouin's name and more specifically, the similar starting letters . . . did the guy happen to also like Krispy Kreme doughnuts or Kit-Kat candy bars. Then it dawned on him that mentally rambling was just as bad as verbally rambling. "Thank you for speaking with me, the pleasure's all mine."He nodded with a nice smile . . . a smile the likes of which was able to be seen from beyond the mask that he wore. Most people might be surprised by the face behind the mask but then again, Umashi wasn't here to break barriers, he was here to break up state monopolies.

Getting down to business, Umashi pulled out two scrolls from his bag and held them in his hand as he spoke plainly to the man.
" I don't know if you're aware of the fact or not but Iwagakure took in a large amount of Konohagakure and Kirigakure refugees after both of them came under duress. In the case of Konoha, they've been able to rebuild since their civil spat and in the case of Kiri . . . well it's still uninhabitable so far as anyone can tell. All of this has led to Iwa becoming a bit of a cultural melting pot and fittingly looking inward is no longer considered a fit solution for bringing up the next generation or solving the issues of the future. The reason that I'm here is a bit of an intervillage invitation of sorts. I'd like to arrange a number of mutually beneficial trade propositions and defensive bloc initiatives."

Another pause for emphasis and also so as not to look like a blabbering fool and Umashi presented the scrolls. One was a white scroll with a black village insignia for Iwa on it while the other was the reverse color scheme only with two crossed kunai present instead of the village insignia. "I understand that these sort of talks typically go above Sennin and that I do respect, but quite frankly moss cannot gather on a stone that is in motion and it's about time that somebody rocked the boat." Thinking back to that manga, Pokemon had been around for two decades by his reckoning and what was once a story about collecting one hundred and fifty interesting creatures had spawned into a story of near a thousand different imaginary beings. In some respects the shinobi world was the same as it had grown from a few notable clans to many powerful nations but much like the main heroes in Red and Ash who were perpetually prepubescent children, some things were seemingly never going to change about the great shinobi nations. Umashi hoped to change that, one meeting of the minds at a time.

I know that all to well myself; people generally get born into this life never given a chance to chose, but for some of us we simply thrive in it. Kouin pondered this mans absurdly and outrageously long name; who needed such a lengthy introduction? Kouin felt the man was trying to show off a little bit, but he cared very little for the semantics of the matter, Pleasure to make your acquaintance Umashi-san. He couldn't tell if the man was smiling, but if he were smiling behind the mask, the smile would probably be some nerdy smile of a manly man, which Kouin found to be quite manly of a man.

He listened closely as Umashi began to talk matter of foreign affairs, and ways to prevent outcomes like Kiri and Konoha, which were caused due to civil unrest, which he completely agreed with. Unbeknownst to Kouin though, he hadn't known Konoha had begun to rebuild successfully, that was a major boon in their favor, but what of Kiri? Still desolate and barren as ever sadly. Now, were you sent here by order of the Tsushikage, or of your own fruition? The question held no accusatory tone, only curiosity, and an answer the Raikage would most likely wish to know as well.

He stared analytically at the two scrolls, he quickly inferred them both to be harmless, and not to be sealing scrolls of any sort, which set him at ease a bit. Yea stuff like this goes over our pay-grade a bit, so if you would give me a moment I'll see if he has time to make an appearance. Kouin stepped out of what he assumed was Umashi's hearing range, and placed his head set over his head. Switching over to the direct line to the Raikage, which was known to only the Sennin and his Guard, he pressed the button on the side, ~//~Sennin Kouin reporting in Saito-sama. I have an envoy, a sennin no less, from Iwagakure. He request to speak with you at the gate. I maintain a strategic position until your arrival and you can assess the situation yourself. He wishes to speak of mutual beneficial trade propositions, and defensive block initiatives. He appears to come in peace, but we know how the last visitor went. Kouin out.~//~ He placed his headset back into his satchel and returned back to Umashi.

Well I placed the call in, as you know a Kage can be very business, but I made it very clear that this was of an urgent matter, so he should be here post-haste. He pulled out a crossword puzzle from his satchel, and began filling in the blank spaces as they both awaited the arrival of Raikage Akira Saito.

Organising the trip to Stone was taking up much of his time. He had to organise his replacement for the duration, and also was making sure that the ANBU would be organised as well with both Hyazo and Kouin gone, though that was less of an issue with Akuhei around. Ayumu would take up Akira's position while he was gone, but the council would handle the majority of the work for him, it would only be if someone needed to speak with the Raikage that Ayumu's workload would increase.

He'd done the best he could by the others and was reviewing things before he'd make the call to bring together the various shinobi he would be taking with him.

Suddenly his earpiece crackled into life, his eye moved towards it automatically, and he stood, but it seemed it wasn't such a matter which required combative attention.

Very well. I'll be there soon.

Putting on his coat he made his way down the stairs. Walking through reception he called out I've been called to the pass, take messages for me until I return.

Opening the doors he took in a breath of the fresh mountain air.

It was so refreshing.

Heading to the gates he walked. Urgency wasn't required here, he would arrive when he arrived.

About twenty minutes later the figure of Akira would arrive at the gates. Looking at Kouin he then turned his attention to the other man, giving a small smile.

I am Akira Saito, the Raikage. How can I help?

"There are bad ways to win and good ways to lose. What's interesting and troubling is that it's not always clear which is which. A flipped coin doesn't always land heads or tails. Sometimes it may never land at all..."

There were rumors that people simply died on impact when visiting Kumo. Umashi didn’t exactly have a death wish or anything of the like but by all accounts he was still living so he must have not yet pissed off the wrong person. Perhaps that was the reason that most people died at the Kumo gates . . . they didn’t have good people skills. Fortunately Umashi had people skills, ninja skills, ‘l337 5k1llz’, and he could even talk to turtles! More importantly to the point, Umashi gave a courteous nod and expressed his gratitude for the Raikage meeting him on short notice. “You can call me Umashi and I appreciate your taking time out to meet me Raikage-sama.”

Drawing attention to the scrolls that he had presented, Umashi continued speaking about the proposition. “As I was telling Kouin, Iwa is entering a Renaissance of sorts and is looking outward to keep from repeating certain past mistakes. I expressed to Kouin the desire for Iwa and Kumo to speak of matters of trade and the like but respectfully left any such meetings from your people to your discretion.” A pause and then he nodded towards Kouin while still speaking to the Raikage whose name was just as palatable as Kouin’s. “Kouin had inquired as to if the Tsuchikage was are of this meeting and he is aware that I have come here seeking intervillage talks. Once I have been made aware of your stance on the idea then I’ll update him on my results and arrange affairs for safe passage.” At this point Umashi left the ball in Kumo’s court but if he was getting an audience with the Raikage this early then hopefully the odds would continue to be in his favor.

Heh. Akira smiled at the others words. This would make life easier.

Good. Then after a night or two of rest you had better get a run on back home." He looked to Kouin and then back to Umashi "When you called me to the gate I was finalizing cover for the shinobi who I would be traveling with to your village."

He nodded his farewell and then turned to leave.

As far as Akira was concerned that said everything that needed to be said, not only was Cloud and Akira willing to have talks with Iwagakure. But preparations were already well underway. They were coming whether Stone was ready for them or not.

He kicked himself off of the tree he was supporting himself on, and maybe eye contact with Akira as he looked his way. Raising a brow he was was curious what the look was for.

He had moved in closer to his Raikage, Going to Iwagakure huh? Should be interesting.... Though Akira had made no clear assumption that he would be traveling with him, but Kouin knew her had no other choice but to go; he couldn't be "reliably" left alone in the village, and he was more than sure Akira was curious how he would fair in the field.

He gave Umashi a brief nod and a wave, I suppose we'll be seeing you back in Iwagakure, Umashi-san He turned and followed in Akira's footsteps. His first mission outside of the village, sounds like fun He began whistling a cheerful tune as he began to reenter the main hub of the village.

"Shocking!"

Watching the two Kumo shinobi walk away, Umashi thanked them for meeting with him as he contemplated just what he’d tell Hissori. Fortunately for him he wouldn’t be in a bodybag when he did so but by all accounts Umashi would call the preliminary meeting a success. Kumo already was in talks to come and visit Iwa and it seemed like Umashi was just thinking along with other great minds. Turning to walk away he picked up the pace a bit and his walk turned into a steady run. A storm was coming and unlike the ominous metaphor, Umashi could quite clearly look up into the sky and see the clouds approaching. Perhaps he should have taken the Raikage up on his offer but he wouldn’t find any such shelter at distance that he was from the gates.

At the first crack of thunder and lightning in the sky he jumped a bit and almost lost his footing. Having been a pirate for far too many years he knew what dangers a hurricane or typhoon could bring. Increasing his pace he took one turn and then another as he quickly rushed for the coast. There he’d find a ship with safe passage no doubt but as soon as he touched the beach the thunderstorm intensified and the lightning strikes were drawing eerily close to his person instead of to the next highest structure in the vicinity. Was he being targeted especially?

While he was proficient enough in water jutsu to keep himself dry he was a far cry from being an expert in lightning based jutsu to do much to protect himself. Lost in thought as he was, he heard the thunderclap seconds after he lost his vision and felt every cell in his body breaking as into a near infinite amount of pieces. A thunderstorm could create strange and beautiful occurrences while at sea and on the beach. After a good storm beachgoers might even find wild and stunning glass structures created from the lightning hitting the sand and crystalizing it. Like the finest of crafts, Umashi mirrored even those delicate things and from that he was changed evermore.
