Ayumu was still trying to collect his thoughts on the previous mission as he rode on horseback through the countryside. Somewhere along the way he had gotten parted with the other team members that had accompanied him on the mission. Moro, Haruka, and Eru had joined Ayumu from some crazy shenanigans in Kelmura that had resulted in several hours of lost time. They had managed to retrace their steps somewhat and had figured out that Ayumu had somehow married both Eru and Haruka while Moro had sold his tooth and replaced it with a golden one. Ayumu remembered none of this, and even the period of time they spent retracing their steps and correcting everything was a blur. They had, at least, managed to recover Moro's tooth and nullify the marriage as well as avoid a demonic apocalypse occurring at the top of a tower in the middle of the city.
The four of them had agreed to never speak of that mission again, claiming that it was "classified" which was mostly true anyway. He liked them, almost enough to say they were like family, but he needed some time to himself after the insanity they had gone through, whatever that was exactly. He had suffered some strange nightmares in the nights following that he couldn't explain even if he tried. One of them involved Moro attempting to kill him on a beach, which made absolutely no sense in his mind even if they had been near the beach in Kelmura. The thought of it gave Ayumu a bit of a chill prompting him to reach into his traveling cloak and produce a flask with an unknown liquid which he promptly took a swig of.
'What the hell even happened back there...?' he wondered, shaking his head as he looked groggily ahead through half squinted eyes. He looked rough, his hair a mess, glasses crooked and light stubble on his face. The important part, he supposed, was that the mission had succeeded. They had obtained the demonic forge and it was on its way back to Kumogakure with the others at that very moment. They were probably a bit further along than Ayumu as he had admittedly gotten lost a couple of times already. Right then he was about seventy percent sure that he was headed in the direction of Kumogakure still. Despite his rough appearance, he was in generally good spirits. He was to be promoted as a result of the mission, after all.
"Oh, well! All's well that ends well!" he exclaimed, startling the horse a little bit and causing it to rear up unexpectedly. He quickly grabbed the reins and calmed the horse until it was on all fours again. "Sorry pal, it's a big deal for me, y'know?" he said apologetically, as if the horse could understand him. He liked to think it could. He was somewhat regretting the decision of parting with the others now, it was a bit lonely to travel alone. Not to mention probably a bit dangerous, but he was a shinobi. He feared no danger. Besides, it wasn't like someone was going to just pop out and try to hijack his horse or anything.
