Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Scene: By the forest, evening, sun setting, chill fall night in Kumo, the trees are withering with fallen leaves, night fall is soon to come.

Plot: Shouyu realizes the cost of being ninja, and that he may never really get to a live a full or ordinary life. The eight year old finally succumbs to his feelings, and accepts that he must sacrifice his childhood to grow up. He begins to mature, think differently, and act more adult like.

Shouyu had just finished up some studying at the school library. In all of his readings, he never once read about a normal life for the shinobi. It made him wonder, how his Father even lived so long to give birth to him. It just seems, that ninja are only tools for war, and murder. He pondered if people would even love him or fear him. He could be seen, walking the paved street filled with multi color leaves that would crumble and crunch beneath his ninja sandals. His head was down, eyes to his toes, strands of his long thick black hair escaped his loose ponytail and deterred the vision before him. He sighed lightly.

Walking up to a large tree, he paused. He was staring at it aimlessly. From the base, to the very top, he examined this tree, with many branches and little leaves from the seasons. He thought about this tree, and the seasons it must endure through its lifetime in the year. Fall, it gives away all of its leaves to the Earth, making itself bare and naked, bracing itself for the winter chill that will freeze this tree over. Almost as if, the tree had a duty, much like a Shinobi. If all these leaves, were feelings, thoughts, insecurities...

He would kneel down, taking a crusty leaf into his hand that almost crumbled upon touching. He clenched a fist and watched the dry leaf disintegrate. It now, slowly, made sense to him. Though, terrible thoughts ran through his mind, he felt lonely in Kumo, even though he had made friends. He missed the call of his Mother, the scolding of his Father, not cleaning his room and getting in trouble for it, or losing privileges over not eating his veggies. He still didn't like cauliflower, he shook his head and pointed a finger out his tongue sticking out, released the leaf which blew in the wind like dust particles and he sighed.

These thoughts of his parents always caused him so much sadness. But much like this tree, he had to let that go, endure the pain, and allow new, brighter and healthier leaves grow as result of that change, that growing up. It's true he was only eight, and the oncoming nightfall meant he should be back in his apartment watching anime and preparing another instant dinner. But he grew tired of that lonesome life at home. He wanted answers to these doubts he was feeling. He considered giving up all this ninja stuff. There was a bit of fear in his heart. He felt if he had nothing to hold on to, a true resolve, he would be a waste as a ninja. Living in his Father's shadow wouldn't suffice. He wanted to do what his family could not. Survive...

Still sitting on the ground, playing with leaves and observing the tree, the occasional tear sliding down his chin onto the thirsty paved road, his eyes examined the tree once again. It's not that I am giving up my humanity, right?... I must only cast aside the childish thoughts which could hold me back. 'I can't be a kid forever...' Even though Kumo was at peace at the moment, there was no telling how long that time would endure. He finished crying about his parents, and came to a sniffle. Since his first year in Kumo, he already suffered many life long scars on his body from training and sparring with peers. He even faced a few life threatening situations already. Time was moving fast and he was already a Genin.

With that thought he adjusted his headband, turned to put his back on he tree and reclined, relaxed in a sitting position. Here would think of how fast he achieved this feat, tomorrow was his birthday, and the first birthday he would host a party in Kumo. It'd be his third birthday, minus his parents physical appearance.

"A tree has stages... Growth periods. There is a time to cry, and a time to smile. Also, a time to mature, and grow. How could I be resilient at this try, to resist the coldest times at my weakest point and survive, and come out a beautifully bloomed tree..."

Oh he thought so much, making all these analogies. He wondered of his future. Would he be renowned? Respected and remembered? Would he have his own family one day? He found a rock beside him, began tossing it up into the air and catching it inside his palm. A good fight at the moment or some good ramen might be able to get his mind off this. He was still burdened with concerns.

"I want to be like my Father... But I hardly know anything about him, or his legacy. Everything, was destroyed. The shrine, the literature... There's nothing left but me... I am the... Final string of history, to my village..."

His eyes grew wide, and the last time he threw the rock it just hit the ground. He was frozen in thought.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

Such a wondrous evening was transpiring and one young shinobi had missed her last dose of her meds and was out and about looking for some trouble. ‘Is that a person! Oh boy it sure looks like a person to me!’ she thought to herself as she came running along the side of the large academy before jumping into the branches of the tree the persons at under.

“HOWDY STRANGER!” She rang out with all her might as she had a grin from ear to ear her hat somehow magically attached to her head as she hung from the branches upside down.

“You sure look like a grumpy gus you sure do. Maybe I can help with that.” She exclaimed almost even louder than her previous statement if that was even possible and she slipped down and landed upon her hat which did not buckle under her weight her skirt flipped revealing that she wore a black pair of tights underneath it.

“So how about it I got tea, and meds, and medical tea?” she laughed as she stared at the boy with her blood red eyes a full blown spiral upon them as her bloodline was active to its highest possible level, the Mangekyou Sharingan. Obviously she was using up tons of chakra to perform her feats of extraordinaire meaning if a fight were to break out she was already be at a disadvantage.

“If you don’t like any of those options I’m sure I can come up with something that would spark your fancy.” She stated as she right sided herself so that she was now on her own two feet and in perfect view for the boy to take in her entire outfit; which was very Goth Lolita. A small ringing sound could be heard coming from one of her pockets upon her vest that was a signal that she needed to take her medication.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

The rock hit the ground with a thud, and loud high pitched voice rang out loud and cracked the silence of the night breeze. His head slowly looked up and found the wide smile of a girl, hanging upside down. 'I didn't see her until now..." He thought he let his guard done being surprised by this random, loud girl.

She even shouted louder on her next statement berating Shouyu and he gritted his teeth in response giving off an annoyed facial expression at first, then she landed on her head in front of him and his face changed to a confused and concern look, with his hands flailing about, standing up he backed up a bit.

From this standpoint, he was looking at her upside down balanced on her hand, with glowing deep red eyes, containing a strange pattern that was almost hypnotic. His white hyuuga eyes trembled, he never seen such eyes before. And her voice didn't seem to fit her character as she seemed overly excited, much how he would normally be. But after all this thinking of growing up, he was willing to give all that childish stuff away. Yet here, someone just like him arrived.

"I'm okay with no tea, or.... er, meds."

She spoke again claiming she would find a muse for the young boy to lighten up. He rose an eye brow at this, and finally she made her self upright and easy to view. Even now, her eyes were more fearsome and he couldn't dare to look into them for long without his heart beat accelerating. What was that, and who was she, plus, where did she come from. He looked around, examined his surroundings to make sure she was alone and not somebody trying to get the jump on him. He spoke rather quietly, and direct the whole time, feeling rather cautious.

"Who are you? I've never seen you around here, plus, where did you come from? And what is that constant ringing?!"

He was distraught having so much all happen at once, he shrugged at top, which was basically a thin sweater baring the Hyuuga Clan emblem on the back. He wore fitted hakamas that he cut short just below the knee, his shin down to his ankles were taped up by bandages. He turned his head to the left, looking at her sideways.

"Those eyes... Do you intend to challenge me here?"

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

“Oh dear, oh dear that ringing indeed quite bothersome it is.” She exclaimed as she pulled the watch from her pocket by the chain and began to swing it side to side as if in an attempt to hypnotize. ‘Such a dull boy, not excitement no moxie what so ever, I should make him my underling!’ she thought to herself instantaneously without as much as a second to question herself.

“Oh my, oh me, that’s right I’m me, and me is well Riki Kikei.” She said gleefully and with an obvious attempt to rhyme her own name, as she plunged the ringing device back into her pocket instead of turning it off like any sane person would.

“Now where did I come from well if you go straight then take a right then a left then another right you’ll come to a house that’s not my house though just a house that I was at.” She laughed without hesitation she was obviously not right in the head but in a non-threatening kind of way at least for now.

“And my eyes, what about my eyes? They are to DIE for aren’t they so pretty and swirly one could even say that you could get lost in them maybe? I know I sure have!” She spoke with such fever it was hard to keep up with all her rambling. ‘Oh right challenge he said something about a challenge a game of jenken sounds fun lets do that yeah lets!’ she thought to herself before blurting out her response.

“For a challenge though I could go for a quick game a jenken loser becomes the others slave.” She laughed knowing full well she had the advantage in every way in this contest but of course he didn’t know that unless he knew of her abilities.

(OoC: I hope you don't mind how much I have her talk right now.)

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

The ringing grew louder as she pulled the source out which a watch. It pierced the silence like nails on a chalkboard and all she did was wave it around back and forth that reverted his attention from her eyes to the watch, and back to her eyes. His left brow would have risen almost off his face in reaction to this, bottom lip puffed out pouting, she did nothing to stop the ringing and pocketed it again.

Her introduction of her name came out rhythmically and almost rhyming. He smirked at this, holding back a laugh, on the inside he wanted to burst out with laughter at that and join her in this manic activity. Instead he would respond lightly.

"Well, I'm Hoshi Shouyu, the wandering star of the Hyuuga Clan."

He made sure that what he said was most epic as possible, puffing his bottom lip out again as he rose his chin high in the air and pointed at himself with the thumb of his left hand that was halfway a fist.

When Kikei began to explain her whereabouts he got totally lost, his inner light bulb flickering on and off as he tried to follow the directions she gave to admit that wasn't even her place of residence. His jaw could be seen slightly agate with a confused expression. All the while she was busting up in laughter. His eyes darted left to right, cursing inside his head.

The spiel she gave about her eyes only made him more curious about her eyes and if they contained some kind visual prowess as his byakugan did. Most definitely it was something about that strange pattern that made her eyes, "Intimidating."

"I wouldn't say that much, but you're different. I've never seen you around, or seen eyes like that before."

She then offered a game of Janken. Rock Paper Scissors. He was confused of this, he mention his bloodline in the byakugan which he could easily activate to pay attention and get the jump. But, he thought that would be unfair and shook his head. The girl wa strange, but a game of Janken couldn't be too bad. Whatever this slave thing was he just overlooked it. Although her statement caused him to smack his teeth and look at her from a sideways view again.

"I have no interest and being anyone's slave! I am Hoshi Shouyu, prodigy of the Hyuuga!"

He would hold his fist out at Kikei in preparation of a game of Janken. But then he thought, again, about her potential visual prowess and if it was like his, an off and on switch. So he paused and smirked.

"We go back to back, turn around and reveal our selection. Deal?!"

He would give her a distrustful look as if he was curious of her cheating, since this was their first meeting, this first impression would show whether or not he would befriend the girl, or proceed with caution.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

“Oh back to back you say, hmmm sounds good to me. Now loser has to become the others subordinate.” She giggled while she watched the boy closely with her eyes knowing all too well just how this was going to go down. She laughed a bit longer then she should have but it wasn’t that unusual for her seeing as so far her whole existence to him was nothing but laughter.

“Oh I know why you probably never saw me much; I am bottom of my class last ranking genin. I still honestly don’t have handsigns memorized.” Her giggle suddenly stopped as she looked down towards the ground, as the depressive side of her began to manifest due to remembering the day she humiliated her family by graduating at bottom of her class. ‘Stupid sensei never left me with any slack only even passed me because he felt sorry for me I guess.’ Her thoughts wandered about to the saddest of remarks but truth be told she passed after inducing a class wide genjutsu during a fit of manic.

“Sooooooo we doing this or what?” She giggled again as she attempted to bounce back from the sudden drop in her mood. Turning her back on the boy her eyes dripped a single tear as she stared towards the wall of the school that towered above her. She readied her hand into a fist and began to pound it into her other as she was trying to pump herself up for the coming battle.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

She agreed to his terms of Janken and continued giggling as usual. If her eyes were anything that he would expect they would be like his, and be able to detect fast movement and register it in a slower frame, yet he still knew not the prowess of her visual assets. So he was still cautious as much as he was curious with Kikei. Also, with her agreement she mentioned one becoming the other slave which was rather strange to place as a bet. He gave a 'Hmpf' at her remark.

She then gave a bit more of her background by telling her class rank, in contrast, Shouyu was top of his class only lacking in the genjutsu field of the ninja arts while being very adept in other avenues. Kikei after was really quiet and seemed to be staring at the ground, just as he was not too long ago. This bit of humanity she expressed made his eyes widened as he sensed the feelings and realized, she too is like him in a different light, dealing with struggles inside while living in this shinobi world.

"I assume you specialize and either taijutsu or genjutsu if you can't perform hand signs. Am I correct?"

That was all cut rather short as she jumped back into hyperactive self offering her back for the game, as do did he so they were back to back now. He had his left palm face up to catch whatever his right hand would put it out, he would crash his right fist into his palm twice, on the third revealing paper and activating his byakugan for a moment and turned around slowly to Kikei.

"Yeah, you bet, we're on! One! Two!.."

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

Kikei twirled and on the third drop swapped her fist into a flat paper leaving out a huge clap. ‘oh he’s good, but my reaction is seamless there is a reason nobody plays this against me anymore!’ she thought to herself as she smiled from ear to ear.

“Looks like we came to a draw; how about another round can’t give up after just one game. Also nice muscle spasm in the face might want to get that checked.” She laughed as she looked into his star like eyes with her ill-conceived smile that was beyond creepy at this point. The ringing of her pocket watch still within ear shot a constant annoyance almost hypnotic in how the tone never faltered.

“Genjutsu is my specialty almost scary how I can cast them through these lovely eyes of mine.” She said with a grin as she opened them wide and stared deeper into his. ‘I wonder just how lacking in genjutsu he really is. I could slow his perception a bit see if he takes notice or maybe throw some false success his way only to take it from him…so many options!’ she thought without showing any signs of it on her face.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

He turned around only to face her with the same thing, Paper. His veins in the face would have faded but it was all too late. She berated him for a draw and having the veins bulging from his face. A light reddish pink would have fell across his face and faded instantly. Definitely, her eyes were perceptive. Above it all he was still being distracted by the darn ringing noise of her clock. He smacked his teeth at the draw.

"Well maybe you should get your blood shot eyes checked out too, huh?"

She went on about Genjutsu, luckily he had experienced it twice before and found some ways to get around it. Although, he was still raising his initial awareness to the various types of Genjtusu. So far, he had only experienced visual genjtusu, he heard of there being audible types as well, and wondered if that ringing had put him in a genjutsu, long long ago.

"So you are able to cast jutsu through your eyes, you say? Now that's different."

He rubbed the bottom of his chin which was bare from his youth, but he did this thinking. He then walked a couple steps to the right, looked at Kikei sideways again and shook his hand with his head saying no.

"Genjutsu may not be my specialty, but I have built a defense for it. As far as this game of Janken, it isn't much too fair if we are both heightening our senses to play, wouldn't you say? How about a fair round?"

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

“Don’t you dare call my eyes bloodshot they are beautiful and majestic and beautiful!” she shouted with a laugh as she looked at him still smiling as ever having already placed her genjutsu of choice into motion a false win only for him to lose. So even if the eyes were normal it wouldn’t stop her from winning in the end.

“Well we could do that but then I want us to face each other as we throw none of this turning around nonsense.” She laughed as she began flicker her eyes like mad to mask the chakra build up in case he could sense such things. Each time she did it was a rhythmic pattern of one eye to the next her control over it was beyond that off any normal genin but only during her manic behavior could such things be seen. Normally she could barely keep her regular Sharingan active let alone the Mangekyou Sharingan.

“So what do you say if yes let us start right now!” She shouted without hesitation as she began the process of throwing one, followed up by two, then with a very solid rock she looked up at the boy without so much as a hint of desperation because she had already figured out the outcome long ago. Hey eyes a solid black as she had begun the countdown just as he had suggested.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

She seemed offended about his comment of her eyes, but it was true, they were crimson and could inflict fear into the weak heart. Her remark caused him to back his head away a second, she was more exuberant than himself when he was excited.

"Okay, fair game. No cheating..."

She offered to play the game straight up, which he thought would also be unfair since her eyes worked in some similar way as his did. Her reaction time must be heightened too, and the ability cast genjutsu through her eyes.
He was worried, he had gazed into them so long without knowing, it was possible he was already under genjutsu.

She began the next round, the same time she slammed a one and two into her palm he did as well and dropped a scissor into his hand. When he looked up at her, her eyes were black now and it confused him.

"One! Two! Scissor!"

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

Laughing she looked down to see he had moved just as she predicted and smiled. ‘Got to love being able to read people like books even after shutting down my mangekyou sharingan, though I always hate how much slower I can perceive things without it.’ She thought to herself as she relished in her victory, even if it was one in a very deceitful manor.

“So you must call me senpai and I will call you kohai and together we shall be unstoppable.” She giggled as she reactivated her bloodline and the eyes slowly began to spiral out once more as she went through the different phases of her sharingan until her mangekyou was once more active.

“So don’t worry kohai we will be a team and you shall cover stealth and I shall deal with the less fortunate.” She said happily as she clapped her hands together quickly before rubbing them in an evil fashion just for the hell of it.

“Okay so with this all done I will leave you here to go back to contemplating life and all things you. Now Kohai don’t forget about me!” She yelled as she quickly jumped into the tree and exited the way she made her original entrance by way of wall running along the academy.

Re: Growing Up. [Open]

He sighed looking at his lost and held his head down. Seemed like everybody and their mom and dad was able to get the jump on Shouyu when it came to anything. Now he had to submit to this whacky Kunoichi with the red eyes. She suggested he call her Senpai he immediately shook his head flailing his arms, as if to say 'No way, Jose.' and she only giggled and brought the back the color of her red eyes once more.

She clapped and the loudness of it rang through his ears, much like the annoying dinging of her clock that was still going off amidst all this. And what did she mean by he would cover the stealth, the kid would shrug and scratch the top of his head before crossing his arms and giving the girl a stern but confused look.

"You're making my head all fuzzy."

She then insisted on leaving him here and she did before he could even utter a single word to her. She was gone... And he was shaking his head, palm to his forehead, he now knew it was time to go home, eat ramen and watch anime. So he too began to make his way back into the residential area of Kumo to find rest at his place of leisure.
