Hayato finally got into his first class at the academy. It was a taijutsu class and he learned a few tricks that he thought would come in handy. His teacher had taught them something called “slipping”, it was a defensive skill used to dodge incoming hits, but the name gave him another idea. Aside from just dodging, if a blow came in just a little too fast or unexpectedly, you could also let it “slip” aside and move with it instead of taking it. Even after the class, Hayato spent the next few days drilling those movements, so that when he needed it, he wouldn't hesitate.

Illusionist

Hayato, upon gaining admittance into the academy, had been spending a good deal of his money buying scrolls that described how to perform various jutsu, and most of his free time was now spent pouring over the scrolls and practicing the techniques they described. Of all the ninja arts, the most fascinating to his mind, was genjutsu, the power of illusions! To him, genjutsu seemed the ultimate ninja discipline. To capture and manipulate the heart, mind, senses, and will of anyone, seemed to him, the ultimate power! So he practiced day in and day out. He would master genjutsu and become the ultimate ninja!

Stalker

As much as Hayato loved genjutsu, the power of illusions, he had to admit to himself that stealth was almost as important. If your foe could see you casting a genjutsu upon him, he would surely attempt to break free and cancel the illusion. The trick was to not be seen! If one's opponent was unaware that an illusion had been cast, they would have no reason to think to attempt to dispel it! So he began to practice on cats, he figured that since cats were twitchy and had amazing senses, they would be perfect candidates. He now spends his early mornings simply creeping up on and scarring all the neighborhood cats. A new age of feline paranoia had begun!

Initiative

Even with his genjutsu illusions and his skills in the art of stealth, Hayato new that at some point, he would be caught flat footed, or otherwise be put in a position where he didn't have the advantage. His thoughts to address that issue were simple, “When you don't have an advantage, make a new one!” He began to practice increasing the speed of his hand seals, and his physical attacks, figuring that if he could reduce his reaction time, he could compensate for a lack in preparation with raw, reflexive speed! Hayato now practices the speed of all his hand seals every day, in the hopes that, should he be taken off guard he might be able to counter some of it by getting off the first move.
