Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

HIWTMI [Entry Requested]

Haruka was glad to see her commander not compromised by her feelings of the past. She remained an immovable pillar as they claimed custody of Zaku, but for just how long could Haruka hold out before she crumbled to Hoshikata? As Hikari pulled Zaku away from her, Haruka suddenly felt so isolated. It was, again, as if the world had melted away to only hold both the Shima and her destructive, infallible lover. Haruka felt her strength pull, but she outwardly remained strong and distant. The whole of the earth could not touch her, nor could they break past the glare that gazed on the man. He had become weakened by her presence. He did not do well to hide it. Although, he could never hide from Haruka. She failed to realize her hold on him.

The clatter of his staff shattered the momentary silence. Her eyes drew to his weapon, shocked that he allowed himself to be so vulnerable without it. Hikari began to request the presence of Shin. She'd only have a few more minutes until their leader arrived and she would no longer be able to pull on the emotions that tangled them both. Shin was denied the pleasure of watching Haruka become weakened by her feelings for Hoshikata. These ideas in her head had been pushed away time and time again, until she forgot them. Their meeting had only resurrected them once more. Would she be a madwoman to allow her true intentions to bleed through? He was a liar, but she also knew of the chaos that stormed in his poor soul.

She was only inches away from his grasp. If she could reach out, she might save him from his obligatory hell. Could the Shima dislodged his soul from the depths of a point of no return? She did not know if she could undo the damage that time had caused. He came clean, a release passing his face. The truth fit so well on his lips. Haruka wanted to feel his warmth, but remained cold in her distrusting gaze. She may not of understood all that he spoke of, but she knew the gravity of his confession.

She reached a scarred pale hand out towards the staff as it gravitated towards her. Her fist slipped firmly around it, securing it to her person. Her almond eyes set to look at him once more. His utter surrender hurt her, and she didn't know why. "Hoshikata..." His name hung on her lips with disbelief and loss. She had so many things to say, but fear kept her quiet in the presence of Hikari. Her other fist gripped the staff, holding it close to her chest. She lowered her head, a single tear falling down her cheek in anger. She gritter her teeth, wanting to lash out but held her emotions tightly. It was well hidden from Hikari, for Haruka had her back turned to the girl. The first tear she shed for Hoshikata was in frustration, just as her first tears had been for Natsu. This was a never ending cycle of bitter pain.

What could he be thinking? This confession...This is the first time anyone has ever given up their life for me. I don't know how I should feel, watching him throw away his freedom for a chance to be with me. I don't know...I understand less and less about him. He said he cared for me, that he would do his best to protect Kumogakure as he protected Kirigakure for my sake. I don't know what made him say such a thing, but I could tell he really meant it. That's why I'm so confused. If that's the case, should I protect him from harm? I'm scared. What am I afraid of? What was he thinking confiding his love in someone like me? Why would he give me this?

She stepped towards him, uncertain of what she was doing. Whatever it was, she could not stop it. Her heart had already set out to do something about her fear and confusion. She reached a hand down to hold his own. "I am sorry for what I have done to you. Please, listen to me and cooperate. If you make it out alive, I wish to make right how I have behaved towards you. I did not want to push you away, but I was afraid. Please, let me keep you safe. I give you my word that I will not betray you." She placed his bronzed hand, warm like sun fire against her icy cheek, cradling her face in his grip. She cared not what Hikari thought. She had lost out on her chance to love and show her love for a man that would never awaken. Haruka would be damned to let it happen again.

She leaned forward and rose on her tip toes to brush her lips against his ear. "I love you, Hoshikata." The words were a soft whisper in his ear, but they seemed like a powerful roar that would no doubt stir both of their hearts to flutter. She pulled away again, gazing up at him with hopefulness. Her hand slipped away from his as her dauntless actions wavered. The world had fallen away, but to replace it they would make a new one together. They would protect it and expand it together, but only if he'd let her.

Hikari watched uncertainly as Haruka yelled at Hoshikata. She was uncertain what exactly was going to happen there, and though she knew what had already happened, a part of her did not truly understand. “Nothing.” He said, with a shrug, lowering his staff, “And everything, I pray.” Hikari felt as if she had walked into the middle of a couple’s argument. The tension in his voice, and the emotion in hers made the air thick… heavy with something… she couldn’t think of the word. This was hardly the same man who had traded barbs with her earlier. He seemed so… disarmed. The fierce Shima woman had taken from him the cutting edge on his tongue.

As Hikari took Zaku to her side, Hoshikata spoke again. “Don't arrest him.” The Isaki said, presumably reaching again for the unattainable Haruka. Zaku looked up as if confused. Hikari didn’t know the nature of their relationship, but the anxiety she sensed from him when Hoshikata had spoken was enough to re-embitter her against the so called seer. “He did not choose to follow me of his own will. Or even under duress. He had no say in the matter.” Hikari looked to Zaku, who stood beside her looking pained, but not in the same way as he had before. It seemed he was too ashamed to even look at her. What a change had been wrought in this man. “The other one who followed me out of the village did so of his own choosing. Of the two from Mist who did, one did so under the same compulsion as Zaku, and my brother did so under threat of his very life.”

“What he says about the other kumo nin is true I believe. I was still in my right mind for a while before... before I wasn't. He wasn't treated the same as myself." Zaku said, his voice low and broken. He no longer had the confidence of youth, or the silly, easy nature that Kenta had possessed. Hikari placed a hand on his shoulder lightly. Her attempt was to comfort him, but it was not an easy matter for her to remain professional while doing so. The result was, predictably, awkward. It may have been a meaningless gesture to him, but Hikari had not been comfortable with casual touch for many years, so for her, it held… more. She wanted to say something to him, but for once, the words she might say, seemed to fall flat in her mind. She squeezed his shoulder and smiled at him, tried to indicate her approval.

”My other companions knew nothing of what I was planning. This is why they no longer travel with me, because they feared my actions would bring ruin upon us.” Hoshikata looked around briefly before holding a hand out, his staff leaping back into his grasp. ”I'll be joining you. I ask that no one attack me. I'll not be attacking anyone.” He continued ”The other man came willingly, under orders of the TITAN corporation. I know where they were headquartered previously, but if Haruka has made my affections so known that both you and Shin are aware of them, then they well might also and would likely have moved. There is no gain here, Haruka. Not for me.”

The Santaru looked to Zaku, uncertain that they should trust this sudden change. She then looked to Haruka, who knew this person best. She had stepped toward him, breathing his name in disbelief. She seemed to struggle for a moment, before continuing, reaching out and taking his hand. "I am sorry for what I have done to you. Please, listen to me and cooperate.” She said, more full of feeling than Hikari had ever heard her. “If you make it out alive, I wish to make right how I have behaved towards you. I did not want to push you away, but I was afraid. Please, let me keep you safe. I give you my word that I will not betray you." She was unreasonably close to the man. This emotion had, it seemed, compromised Haruka in such a way that she was no longer rational.

“Shima dono.” She said in a firm, protective tone, after Hoshikata had promised to go where they lead. “Please come here, I would like to confer with you.” Her intent was dual. She both wanted to separate the two, and ask her opinion on Hoshikata’s promises.

He ignored Zaku staring at him as if he'd grown a second head, the man likely trying to figure out just why Hoshikata would speak up for him after all that he had done to the man. That he backed the story up only made things worse in a way, it was someone else forcing him to think of the things that brought him here. Zaku was a pawn, and that pawn would never be the same. Hoshikata truly felt little there, except that he knew his lack of feeling for the man was in itself an issue.

He ignored Hikari, as she tried to comfort her friend with soft touches and words. He didn't even note that they were obviously close friends, the way they behaved. Hikari probably hated him for his deeds. He didn't care about her however. She was simply scenery, something that was there. When he looked at this group, he saw neither of them. He saw only Haruka.

Her whisper of his name was at once the most painful and ecstatic thing he'd come across in his life. She held his staff as if a life depended on it, and his may well have. He could see the hurt in her eyes, the pain that she tried to keep others from believing was there. She did not fool him before, and even less so now.

He knew what each was thinking. It wasn't hard, because everything else the Seer did had some point, some method to it that put him on top of the rest even if it took a few corpses to get there. But there was no angle here, nothing he could see. There was only Haruka, a woman who killed the demon that he was and brought out the true man under that mask. Even she did not know the true effect she had, the change that came over him just from having a single person truly care about him.

No one else has, in his life. His parents cared about their legacy. His best friend cared about his own clan. His former betrothed came close, but she died before she could. His brother cared nothing for him and he knew it was his own fault. But this woman, asking nothing, cared for him. And that care awoke something in him that he thought long dead.

As she came close, his eyes follow her movement and a wry smile comes across his face. He didn't deserve mercy, and were he in charge there would be none. But she clasped his hand, the touch of ice on his warm skin creating a shock that brought him into a clarity, a focus. On her.

”I would never consider doing anything to harm you. And I would never believe you would betray me.” The golden hand against her pale cheek reminded him of his poem to her, the sun and the moon forever intertwined in their fate. Was this his fate? Was it her's? Or were they simply making their own?

Her lips on his ear brought a shiver, and her words shattered his world. As she let his hand go he reaches out, enfolding her with his arms. He had no words. Far too often that happened with her. He found his talent gone, melted away. There could be no falsity in what he said to her. ”And I...you.”

Then the scenery spoke, and his eyes snapped open to stare at the woman, reminding him that this was not a dream, but a cold reality. And that he was not in a good place. With a heavy sigh, he lets go of his luna, that bitter smile gone with a true one, if one tinged by worry.

As I stood beside my old friend, one whom believed me to be gone from this world, I watched the exchange between the Shima woman and the trickster. As his staff hit the ground, the gravity of the situation became apparent to me; no pun intended. No words were spoken, and yet the staff seemed to move on it's on toward the woman on top of the gates. My first thoughts were alarm and suspicion, as seen on my face. But those subsided; she was not in league with him. My gut could tell me that at least, I never was the best at reading people.

His name spoken, and yet still nothing. Their eye contact not faltering, both in a moment where they were open to each other it seemed. It was peculiar to see the man like this. He was so different from before. Perhaps she was the very reason he had remained in this village.

She approached him and spoke, words of apology and promise. My lips formed a smile actually. To here that a woman was vowing to keep him safe went against everything I had known about the man. He was supposed to be the best of the Isaki, and yet, here he was completely surrendered to her. This was his one true weakness.

The woman leaned forward to whisper something. It was inaudible to myself, but there was only so much she could have said in the given moment and feeling. My eyes turned back to the ground, and then to Hikari to see how she was handling the situation. Not like myself that was sure. She still kept up the appearance of the sennin, which was probably the reason she was picked for the job. She was distrusting, as I would be, and wanted to speak with Haruka. It was only a matter of time before the Raikage would arrive...

Haruka gives a small smile, hidden within the folds of Hoshikata's clothing as he pressed her against him in an embrace. She didn't think him to get so carried away with affection, but then she was reminded of their meeting in the forest. He, at least, should of retained himself during such a serious time. However, Haruka couldn't complain as for a brief second she caught the sounds of his fleeting heart. She needed to protect him at all cost. Haruka almost forgot restraint, until the stern call of her commander crashed her back to the earth. The Crow let a calming smile settle on her lips, a sort of sign to let Hoshikata know that things would be alright, before it faded back into the dead and disinterested frown she often faced her superiors with.

Haruka tucked his staff in the crook of her arm, pulling out his wrist side by side. "I'm sorry, Hoshikata. I need to do this." The sound of her voice was direct, an impenetrable shield that kept her emotions at bay. This was the part she must play in order to keep Hikari's confidence in her. A blue light of chakra glowed from the palms of her hands, gripping tightly around his wrist. She had to secure him in the same bonds of Zaku, thinking it unfair to treat him any differently. She knew he would not run. Hell, she knew these binds would not do much to hold him if it came to it, but for Hikari's piece of mind she would seal the man. She spun around, returning to Hikari's side without complaint. His staff now resting between her hands. "I apologize for my behavior, Tanaka-Sama. Although I cannot promise it won't happen again, please know that I will act in accordance to our Raikage's wishes and do what I think is right." The soldier in her was at full attention, but even the former ambassador could hear the tinge of condescension behind her tone. She knew her friend did not like the man, nor trust him. Haruka was beginning to grow used to that. He was Hoshikata the Liar after all, but many misunderstood what kind of man he could be if given the chance.

She thought about what Hayata Shin would say. He no doubt would lose faith in the Shima. Her words just might be meaningless to him, but she would still fight for his life. She gave her word to Hoshikata that he would be safe. Haruka knew he wasn't trying to fool her, although the Raikage would think differently. It was then that she remembered the words of Masao. For all the love that Hayata Shin inspires, he would probably always end up alone in his bed at night. He was a man full of compassion and love, but he did not know this kind of love. The kind of love that could transform anyone. It had not been her first time experiencing this love, but it was what molded her from the isolated woman with a frozen heart into the Haruka that had come to love her village and burn with a passion to protect it with her life. She only wished Masao was here now. He would know what to say...

Would she be able to act as her mentor had and save Hoshikata's life?

Hitomi ~ Private Secretary and Head of Logistics
The raikage had recently finished with one of his many client meetings. There were still many things to resolve with kingslayers and how it could disrupt Kumogakure's mission quotas. Fortunately, during the recent months, there has not been any outbreaks or crimes to indicate Kumagakure was the cause. It was easier for Shin to relieve the people of their worries, although slowly.

"Raikage-sama. You have a message from Tanaka Hikari." Hitomi said across from him. She was briskly walking toward him appearing rather disconcerted. "What is the matter, Hitomi?"

"Zaku...he is alive." She said softly. "Hikari says that a man named Kenta who just arrived at the gates is revealed to be Ishikawa Zaaku and Hoshikata is the one responsible in some way.<i></i>"

"Tell Hikari to the bring all of the them to conference A1 and allocated a few ANBU to watch over the gates as well as the conference room." Shin exhorted.

"Hai, raikage-sama." She said with a low bow.

Hikari’s frown deepened as she watched the overtly emotional display that her spymaster was putting on in front of both the foreigner and the others. She felt it was deeply unprofessional, thus, she had called her spymaster back to her side. A moment passed before Haruka obeyed. "I apologize for my behavior, Tanaka-Sama. Although I cannot promise it won't happen again, please know that I will act in accordance to our Raikage's wishes and do what I think is right." She said as she came back to Hikari.

It was her turn to lean in close, Hikari thought as she did so. “Shima san, you will remember to whom you report at the end of the day.” She whispered just loud enough for the beauty to hear. “We will speak at a later time, about what you think is right, and how it applies in matters you are qualified to judge on.” She said calmly, her face as passive and cold as Haruka’s. This was the game they played, and it was how they had become friends. Hikari had been treading the boundary between rudeness and socially acceptable behavior for many a year, so when she and Haruka had begun their war of sass, trading cutting remarks at the expense of others and many times each other, she had enjoyed the sarcastic nature of their budding friendship. She pulled back and looked straight into Haruka’s eyes, and said quietly once more, “We will speak later about your relationship and how it affects you.” She may as well have been saying ‘I trust you, but you need to work on your gods damned manners.’ Hikari was sure that the Spymaster knew what she was saying, and if she didn’t, the talk they would have later would clear things up for her.

She then paused as she received a transmission from Hitomi, the Raikage’s secretary. “Raikage sama has instructed that you bring all of the them to conference A1, Tanaka sama.” She said.

“Thank you Hitomi san. I shall do so as soon as possible.” Hikari returned, flicking her eyes away then back to Haruka, from whom she took a single step away. “Ladies and gentlemen.” Hikari said, “Hayata sama has commanded that I bring you to him.” She looked at Hoshikata’s cuffs and then at Zaku’s. “I doubt those are necessary.” She said to Haruka, aware that the cuffs would not likely do more than slightly inconvenience either of the men, had they a mind to escape, “I leave it to your judgement whether or not to leave them on. I am certain Zaku and Isaki san will do as they have promised. Follow me.” She said after Haruka decided whether or not to unbind the men, then she lead them toward the Torre Celeste.

And like that, their embrace was over. As Haruka steps back to her superior, Hoshikata moves his eyes from her to the one with the sharp tongue. Golden orbs show only a cold anger as she leans in whispering to Haruka. He felt the urge to simply break the cuffs and show that one some respect. He also felt the urge to not. In the end the presence of Haruka kept him in line, for he knew this would not look good for her is he did such.

Instead, as Hikari announced that Shin was waiting for them, he would lower his head and smile slightly. Shin was learning, it seemed. Hoshikata looks between the two before sliding closer to Haruka, making it clear who was truly leading him here. As Hikari walked off with them following, the seer leans down to whisper softly into Haruka's ear.

”Thank you.”

With those words said, he rises and begins to walk behind the other, heading for the tower that would decide his fate in this scenario.

The sennin took the Shima woman aside to talk after what had occurred, and no doubt it was some kind of reprimand for acting like that while on duty as a kunoichi. Now, granted, I did not know the status the government had on this man, but would I have known about a relationship between one of our own and himself; well, steps would have been taken. But the moment was interrupted my a call I could not here and it seemed that either the Raikage or someone important was on the other line.

The sennin had the final word, and began to lead them away. I said nothing, there was nothing that needed to be said. My questioning was a fact of the future, and I would wait until then to speak to those who were trusted enough to interrogate an alleged rogue shinobi.

Haruka didn't let emotion settle on her face as she received the back lash of her actions. Hoshikata must have been rubbing off on the Shima. She couldn't recall ever behaving so unruly before. Even though she knew it was foolish of her, Haruka fumed in anger. So you want me to become your puppet with no thoughts of my own? She thought about retorting, but remembered the man standing behind her. Hikari scolded her more like a mother to their child than a superior to her subordinates. Her mind went to a distant memory. You thought that because you have the affection of Do-san, or because we recently enjoyed each other's company on a pleasant afternoon, that you are somehow exempt from the rules, regulations, and duties of the Military Intelligence Service of the Main Branch? He had given her such a stern gaze, but there was also kindness. Masao had always treated her with the highest respect, but more importantly, he knew Haruka. He knew on that day that her outburst had been because of love and not disobedience. It was hard for her to take in this new scene. Once again, she was behaving with outbursts because of love, but Hikari was not kind like Masao. Hikari never knew what love could do to a person. She simply could not relate to Haruka like him. And that was why she felt their rift grow wider.

Haruka was far too nervous to fully understand Hikari. Her mind was a chaotic blur that spun with all the possible outcomes of today. She failed to see that Hikari was still someone who respected the Shima. She breathed out deeply as a small cloud of air filtered out of her mouth creating a haze in the cold air. She bowed her head solemnly to her sennin as she promised to meet later in private. She felt scared now. Her hands shook with anxiety, worry coating her entire body. What if she failed him? What if she would entirely discredited her whole life's career in one fell swoop? Would she bring shame to her name? Show me, and more importantly, yourself, that you are a capable human being. Masao's last words to her, but what exactly did that mean? Her thoughts were broken by the radio transmission. Show time. "Any added protection against Isaki Hoshikata is advised, My lady." Haruka warned the woman, knowing it far better to leave the two men in cuffs.

The woman stood still for a few moments, letting the red haired Tanaka take the lead, holding close to Zaku. It was then that she felt the overpowering presence of Hoshikata by her side. His lips close to her ear, breath shocking her skin with a tingling warmth, he whispered his thanks before standing tall again. She smiled warmly, feeling safe in that moment. Quickly, she hide her emotions once again, leading her love towards his judgement day.
