Episode 1: 'Home...'| Awakening Arc said:[col]It had not been long since his transformation, his rebirth brought about by opening all 8 Gates. He was warned about repercussions, but the notes his brother, Saemon, had left him did not detail what would come after the use of the Gate of Death. The notes just warned of never using the gate or meeting the very fate of the name of the gate. But here he was, not dead. So now he had questions and he had hopes that his brother had left more notes on this forbidden art back in their old homestead.
Approaching the door he would grow nostalgic. During the Cabal incident he did not utilize this space, save for showing up to get the Kasha gear he had been working on. Prior to that, he was in a coma for almost a year and Saemon had disappeared well before then. This was his first time entering the location, with the intentions of exploring it and truly looking within it, in almost two years. Since the disappearance of Saemon, he was always hesitant to even come back here. Maybe it was stepping inside would only remind him that his brother was gone, maybe if he searched the residence he would realize that Saemon intended to leave. Whatever it was, he did not really want to be in this place. But the time had come to try and get answers, even if those answers gave him little to no closure. The nob would twist, they never left the thing locked, and the door would slowly coast open.
Well, doesn't seem like our shit was raided...
The incursion incident led to a lot of mass looting. Luckily, their location was on the higher side of the level's which required more effort to loot. He would take a few steps in, looking at an image in front of himself that seemed to be frozen in time. There was a thick layer of dust, but aside from that everything was in the place it was left oh so long again. Running his hands across the various items, his eyes would continue to wonder and his mind would continue to reminisce. It would be short lived, however, as his eyes would cut towards the door to his brother's room. With one quick strike, the obstruction would go flying off the hinges and slamming into the room.
"Good evening, brother..."
There was no one present, but this was a very familiar moment that usually ended with that same greeting; Roku would get drunk or pissed, a door would be broken and a brother would be greeted before a whole apartment brawl erupted. There would be no brawl this time. There would be nothing; no greetings, no insults and no interaction. A simple frustrated sigh would escape his lips as the reckless entered the room and began to dissect it piece-by-piece. The mattress would be torn apart, the bed flipped over, the drawers flung out and various weak points in the walls and floor would be punched in to see if there was a secret compartment. Unfortunately, all he would find would be a mess. His now sweat and dirt covered body would be strewn across the torn mattress with a rather unpleased look on his face. If there was a secret notebook of Saemon, it wasn't looking like it was in this place. Looking up at the ceiling he would begin to stare blankly into the white above him. It was calming in a way. Just a solid sea of white that hung above him, it was a simple solace for someone who had taken on such a hectic life. His life was a mess but this ceiling was seemingly perfect beside from an odd little "x" cut into it. That imperfection aside, which could just simply be a metaphor for life anyways, even in with the illusion of perfection one could still find fault, it was a pretty comforting view.
Wait...
"An x..."
Roku would leap up from the dismantled bed and slam his fist straight into the ceiling at the marking of the "x". The debris would explode downward coating him in all the finest filth and ultimately a book would come slamming down into his face. Removing the square object from his face, Roku would wipe away the debris and look at what he had just came across. The design of the book was crude and simple, with just an etching on the front that stated; "Saemon's Journal". Flipping it open he would begin to skim through the various entries, each turned page would bring about an unnerving feeling inside him.
"Why is his journal all about observations of me..."
More so, they weren't just simple observations of Roku from the course of his young life; it covered his entire life up until 2 years ago it seemed. It was details that weren't just simple entries on Roku's interactions with his brother, they were physical and mental assessments. Progress of physical and mental growth were noted. Every so often there seemed to be random hypothesis laid out followed by different tests that were performed; tests that Roku simply remembered as fun times playing or sparring with his brother. That was another thing, not once in the journal did Saemon seem to refer to him as "brother". Instead it was "Roku", "subject", "#6" and every so often "vessel". What he felt would be fact finding mission has turned into a whole new can of worms. Roku had hundreds of questions but it did not seem he was going to gain them through this journal alone. Near the end of the journal, or at least Saemon's stopping point, he came across a piece of information that would hopefully guide him towards answers.
Subject is two years past the age of 18, it was believed that signs would have shown already but I believe he is currently exhibiting the signs of awakening. I will begin preparing him for the utilization of the chakra gate manipulation, the last step in preparation. Once he has fully mastered this, I believe it will only be a year, I will bring him to the Okayama Compound to begin the next phase...
Okayama Compound... ok, be right there... 'family'
With that, Roku would exit the residency in a hurry and would make preparations to travel the desert to visit a location he had not seen in over two decades.
