Kaori was browsing the wares in the local bazaar, adjusting her glasses as she looked at several knick-knacks that didn't seem to really draw her attention much. She eyeballed some of the little knick-knacks and then gazed at the prices for a moment and recoiled suddenly. Her eyes turned from the knick-knacks to the stall-owner and then back to the knick-knacks once more. "
You could sell a bridge at that price," she said with a look of annoyance to the shop-vendor. The old woman who owned the shop seemed disinterested at what Kaori had to say, lighting up her pipe and took a couple of strong drags before blowing the smoke in Kaori's face. She swished her hand back-and-forth to fan away the smoke, turning her head away from the noxious vapor. "
Rude!" she said in a huff before moving over towards the next vendor who had more reasonable priced items.
Not only were the items more reasonably priced, but they were also much cuter than the strange curios sold by the previous shop. She pointed towards a similar knick-knack at this shop and turned to look towards the rude owner of the stall next to her. "
This is how you price things, old hag!" she said before turning to look towards the owner of this stall. Another older woman who gleamed with pride at the words spoken by the priestess. The woman who owned this stall turned to look towards the other woman and with a sly grin upon her face. "
See! Nobody's going to buy that crap! Especially when it's so over-priced!" the old woman said as she tugged at one of her lower eye-lids and stuck her tongue out at her in a competitive nature.
A loud shout, a question, exploded from what she conceived to be a child. This caused her to place her hands over her ears, noticing the child was almost directly behind her. This shouting even caused the two women, who were going at each other's throats at this moment, to stop and pause. They turned to look towards the child with an extremely inquisitive look on their face before they met-up and started to whisper things to one another while staring at the child; just old-birds gossiping with one another. This prompted Kaori to turn and look towards the source of the scream, lowering her hands from her ears. She turned to look at the child for a moment, but before she was able to say anything, someone else joined in to see if the boy was alright.
It wouldn't have been unreasonable for Kaori to shout at the child and reprimand him for his strange outburst, but it wasn't the proper thing to do at the moment. She watched the exchange between the child and the older boy for a little bit, raising a brow at the questions asked by the older boy. "
That's kind of a strange question to ask," she commented before continuing in a mocking tone. "
Are you from Leaf? Hurr-hurr," she asked before pinching the bridge of her nose. She placed a hand upon her hip, held her other hand out with her palm facing upwards in an inquisitive manner, with her brow cocked. "
Does it matter what village he's from? If a child is lost, wouldn't it be better if we find out how to get him home?" she continued.
For all she knew, this child may have been a local of Tea Country; or he could've been from Lightning Country or even the Wind Country. Being direct with asking him if he was from Leaf seemed like a foolish and ego-centric question to ask. With that, it wasn't hard for her to figure out where this joker came from. She lowered her arms and moved over towards the child, crouching down with her knees on the ground and her rear upon her heels. She placed a hand upon the child's knee and looked up to him with a bright smile. "
Are you alright? Do you need some help?" she asked the boy. Certainly, the blonde had already done this but it was better to ask an open-ended question to get the child talking than to be so incredibly direct.
