She ran through the forests of fire country, she had been following Yong's trail for some time now and her apprehension at his proximity to the Village of Leaf concerned her. If his trail of carnage was anything to go by then she knew he would not steer clear from trouble for long.

The sounds of battle permeated the forest, she knew her destination now and began to speed up, her inhuman agility made a blur of the surrounding terrain. She would get to him soon, after the long hunt they would finally come face to face.

Yong moved to retrieve his katana, the action seemed to be over "Umashi, it was a pleasure fighting by your side...". Yong felt his body become stiff, his chakra systems blocked by a familiar jutsu.

A leaf Anbu landed in front of him, she lifted her mask off of her face. "I have been hunting you for a long time Hirato Yong..." the bodybind released as she approached him, getting closer and closer. His backpack that he had lost in an engagement in the wilds of the fire country hung over her shoulder, she had obviously been following his trail for some weeks, what a coincidence that she should find him at the gates to her own village.

He also noticed the medallion around her neck, the Kanji for Heaven emblazoned on an intricate silver medallion, it was an exact copy of the one he wore around his own neck, the medallion that his mother had given him. His memory stirred...

A smile spread across her porcelain face, her arms wrapped around him in a hug, an unfamiliar a gesture to Yong though strangely comforting "Welcome home big brother..."

Her brother had taken great pleasure in telling the story of the treasure hunter, the mutant wolves and the strange dog, wolf... Girl... From cloud village. yong had described the Leaf shinobi in such detail that she had no doubt who this new arrival was.

"Welcome home Akira. How faired your travels? Did you find the artefact that you sought?" the new arival might have been momentarily shocked by the amount of information that the masked kunoichi knew about him... But that would be dispelled with her next sentence.

"My brother spoke very highly of you, he told of your encounter at his camp and he has since taken up residence at my house here in the village... I will let him know you have returned safe and sound." She indicated that he could pass through the gates with no further delay, from her brothers description, even if the boy was a rogue he was no real threat to the village.


Kiko looked at the item the young shinobi had returned with, she honestly had no idea what it was but she hoped it would it was a significant find for the boy. "well it looks impressive... Im glad you did find something even if the initial information was a wild goose chase. Welcome home."

She watched as the boy entered the village proper, the gates were quieter than usual, perhaps the runner had spooked everyone into staying in the village. Her only regret was that she had been at home asleep when the now missing ninja had fled the gates... What made it worse was that he was an anbu, when he next surfaced she would hunt him down and return with his head.

It was regretful when someone fled the village and became an outlaw. It was unforgivable for a member of the Anbu Corps to do so...

She shook her head as she thought on the subject before turning back to the gates awaiting any other new arivals or departures.

Kiko shook her head as she walked with her brother "How did you know no one would stop me Yong-san? You had only been in Konoha for days, how could you possably know that they would fear to stop me?" she walked in her kimono, her anbu gear stuffed uncerimoniously into her bag. Her eyes looked at her brother begging a responce to the question that had changed her life so much.

Yong smiled as he responded, "Kiko-kun, when I arived at your former village I was greated by a nervious Guard... The main branch sennin arrived as I subconciously knew he would and allowed me in. Then some retarded... Guys? Shinobi... Well whatever they were, came to refuse me entry. The sennin then requested that I help him eliminate the small group, which resulted in a minor conflict between the two of us and about eight shinobi of your village. It became clear to me that the skills of the shinobi were very sub par... After our discussion in your old house I realised how far your skills exceded those of your fellow shinobi, and knowing your Anbu Sennin along with the main branch Sennin were ocupied with the Samirai riots, ai infotmed you that no one would be willing to stop you from simply walking out... Andhere we are."

Kiko shook her head again, this time a slight grin coming onto her face, "And with your recently found life goal to free the world of the evils of... What was it? The putrescence of organised thuggery? You saw it as the time to leave... Well done brother, well done." a wide grin came over her face as she walked, her brothers hearty laugh was like music to her ears.

Her feet had been set on a path that she could now not turn away from. A metaphorical path that had taken her literal feet away from her home for so many years, a village that she now saw for what it realy was, a prison for those gifted with the ability of chakra manipulation. A prison for gods amongst men.

She needed to clear her head, get away so that she could put her thoughts into some semblance of order. Her newly reacquainted brother, Yong, had opened her eyes to so many things in such a short time that she was still having trouble adjusting to this new path she had chosen.

Yong had stayed in the country of Fire, trying to find their childhood farmstead. Kiko on the other hand had simply run. Not run towards anything nor towards anything, just run a fast as her legs could carry her. She needed space to think.

She slowed her pace for the first time in what seemed like hours, coming to a complete stop as she reached the outer limits of the great forests that encompassed most of her known world. Her eyes had been scanning the distance as she had been moving, but now that the forest had cleared a great panorama encompassed as far as she could see. Clouds gathered around the tops of a great mountain range, greater than anything she had seen before in the country of fire...
Well it looks as good a place as any... she thought as she began to head towards the range.

There were woods for miles around the base of the closest mountain, though nothing quite so cyclopean as the forests she had left behind. These woods were all but peaceful though, she heard a shrill scream some distance away.

Her muscles bunched tightly as she began to sprint towards the sound. The trees blurred past her as she covered the distance in moments. As she broke from the cover of the woods into a small clearing her eyes were assailed with a scene of utter chaos. Her well trained eyes took in the scene at a glance.

In a small clearing someone had set up a makeshift house, small garden and log pile, obviously a quaint attempt to survive out here in the woods away from the influence of the greater villages. Two badly mangled bodes, one male one female, lay sprawled out. One resting in a pool of their own blood in the shattered doorway, the other had been eviscerated in the garden, her body lay mangled amongst the plants.

The scream had come from a young girl, no older than eight or nine years old. She ran as fast as she could through the clearing. Only a few scant feet behind her was a massive brown bear, tattered and bloody brown fur covered the monster as it bound on all fours after the girl, though it seemed to be favoring one of its front paws as it loped forward.

Before Kiko could react the massive paw swung through the air flinging the girl like a rag doll into the make shift hovel. She bounced pitifully off of the logged wall, slumping into unconsciousness before hitting the ground with a sickening thump.

The bear turned its great head towards the new arrival, blood dripped freely from its saliva filled mouth. It charged without any warning, covering the distance to Kiko in seconds. But she was a seasoned shinobi not a simple farmer or a defenseless child. Her Katana moved like lightning, the blade piercing through the massive creatures chest stopping its heart instantly. The snarl drooped suddenly as the eyes rolled back into the beasts skull.

As the beast slumped to the ground, katana still imbedded in its chest, Kiko moved as fast as she could to the side of the girl. As she knelt her hands began to glow with a familiar healing chakra, a green halo shimmered as she cradled the small girls head. Her neck rolled unnaturally and loosely.

"Shit." she whispered under her breath, "Poor little angel, you are at peace now, you will see your parents soon." Kiko lay her head back down gently to the ground before standing and moving to the bear.

Kneeling beside the massive beast she lay her hand gently onto its head, "Now why did you attack these people my dear? What was wrong?" her eyes scanned the great bear, looking to the paw that it had favored as it ran. Her eyes spotted the cause, a wire snare cut deeply into the bears wrist, the flesh around the wound was septic. "You poor thing, the pain must have driven you mad... I am sorry you had to die as a great spirit of pain and rage... may your soul now find the peace you were denied on this plane."

She gently removed her katana from the bears chest, and slid it under the snare. She lifted sharply, the blade severing the wire with ease. A sickly sweet smell permeated the air. "How long had this been on there... you must have been starving..." She thought as she stood and began wiping the blood from her blade.

She shook her head, as she moved to the other bodies, though not to check if they were alive. From their wounds she knew that they were dead but she would need to drag them to the bear before she could bury them... all of them, even the bear.

"What a tragedy..." Kiko whispered under her breath as she began the handseals required to up-heave the earth for the four graves, "If I had not been here I wonder if anyone would have noted your departure from this world...?"

There was a new darkness growing in her, she found herself becoming more distant from the societies of this shinobi world. She was beginning to gain a distaste of humanity in general. While she had been in these mountains she had seen mangled animals left in unchecked snares. She had seen corpses quickly being reclaimed by the forest, scattered kunai, deeply cut bones and jutsu damage evident in the surrounding trees. She would not forget, she would not forgive... This world of shinobi deserved neither.

Now she knelt over the broken form of a large she wolf, her limbs had been shattered by the bear trap she had unknowingly stumbled into. Her blood seeped into the soil, her impotent whines mingled with those of a small wolf cub. The she wolf looked up imploringly, the expected aggression absent from her pained expression.

Kiko ran her hand through the wolfs hair, a cooling aura of chakra easing some of the immediate pain though the experienced shinobi knew that nothing could save the wolf now. "Sleep now, child of the forest, your cub is safe with me... Let your soul rest now... Sleep."

The wolfs eyes closed as her chest let out a tell tale rattle, her spirit had left this plane, had left her broken body.

A tear rolled down Kiko's face as she gently lifted the whining cub off of its mother and cradled it to her body. She spoke in a soothing voice "she is gone Cub, but I am with you now." the pup licked her chin affectionately, his rough tongue tasting the tears shed for his mother.

Kiko looked at the girl, the initial trust fading quickly, Cub, her newly adopted wolf cub moved behind her, growling impotently towards all in the clearing, somehow sensing Kiko's unease.

The other two spoke, and her aggressive assumption had been quickly overtaken with logical progression. No they were not the hunters responsible, they had come onto the scene expecting to find the shinobi, there had been no surprise as would have been expected by the absent hunters... No these two were here for another reason altogether and she suspected she knew what it was.

"My name is Hirato Kiko, former Anbu of Konohagakure, now missing ninja of the wilds." she still held her Knife to her side, though she bowed shallowly in greeting. One of the new arrivals had a mask which covered his eyes, which led to the asumption that he was from one of the three legendary bloodlines, namely Hashigaki, Uchiha or Hyuuga. The other man showed no discerning features to denote any of his specialities. Either way she hoped that a conflict could be avoided...

"I am sorry for my aggressive demeanour but the site of the slaughtered animals had shaken me a little..." she moved to put some distance between the two new arrivals, the wolf girl and herself, silently reprimanding herself for trusting the girl so easily.

"Now please answer me this... Am I the reason you are here?" if indeed they were Anbu of Konoha it would seem that the Village of leaf had been grossly underestimated by both her brother and herself.

The situation was about as undesirable as possible, she was in an unfamiliar place surrounded by unknown people. If they chose to attach her and they were indeed the Anbu she had suspected then she had little chance of survival. She wished her brother were here, he would know what to do.

Kiko shook her head, the binds were getting tiresome but it was the tactic that she herself would have been using had she been in their position... Her attacks had been continuously foiled by Nobody's abilities, his clones taking the brunt of her attacks... But she had a few tricks left.

Kouins lightning arced out of the sky smashing her out of her thought pattern, shocking her back to reality. Nobody came at her again but this time she was ready.

Though the fight was not going her way she had worked some things out... Nobody was Hyuuga, and a very skilled one at that, so fleeing was not an option. He would be able to track her wherever she ran... The other seemed to be a normal Shinobi, though his attacks were hitting like hammers.

Nobody spoke to her directly, his words stung a little but then she had not been in a fight for her life for so long that she had forgotten the tricks that people play... She breathed deeply today "...I'm sorry to disappoint you, I will try and do better next time..."
Blades of wind curled around her as he came in for more attacks, she had at least done as much damage to him as he had done to her... But the lightning was beginning to take its toll on her as nobody was able to land a few hits of his combo.

Time to change her pace and hopefully save herself. She had little doubt how this was going to turn out but she hoped she could make them pay for it as best she could.

As a violent torrent of air burst from nowhere Kiko mimicked the actions taken by Nobody just seconds earlier. She burst into a cloud of darkness just as the blades of wind sliced through her body... Clones of herself scattering into three different directions.

She was moments later glad as another, now familiar, prison of light burst from the ground, holding one of her clones in place. She breathed a momentary sigh of relief, if she had have been caught it could have been the end for her. As it stood though, she still had some fight left in her damaged body.

Her hands flew through seals in a blur as the air around the battlefield began to sparkle and reflect, further obscuring the battlefield and giving many more distractions to her two opponents. They would hopefully save her life.

Nobody began an assault on one of her clones, striking it over and over... A grin came over Kiko's face as she saw the damage occurring to the Leaf Anbu as the Clone did its duty admirably.

The grin quickly left her face though as Nobody dashed to her, the real her, and slammed her in the chest again... She knew she couldn't take much more of this, but she was free, if she was to die she would not go down without a fight.

Kouin's lightning struck again, as Kiko knew it would. She deflected the lightning with her refractions in the air, causing them to impotently strike nothing and earth harmlessly.

She had not waisted this time though, the green chakra rolled down her arms and streamed towards her opponents. The searing energy seeping into Nobody, rotting his flesh from the inside.

Nobody spoke his approval, she could tell he was gritting through the pain. Kiko responded, though possibly not the way Nobody would have expected. "Do you even know why they sent you to hunt me Anbu of Konoha? The corporations have taken over... They no longer value us as their protectors... They now see us as commodities. To be used and disposed of when they see fit."

Kiko used the lull that her angelic jutsu had caused in the flow of the combat to continue, "You will see it soon my brother, Konoha is poisoning itself... It will soon die and its Shinobi will flee... Or fall... Nothing can change this Anbu of Konoha, you will see... Even if I rot in the ground, Konoha will join me soon!"

Kiko yelled the last before springing into action, one way or another this engagement would be over soon.
