Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kaori arrived to the gates of Kumogakure with a thought popping into her head. 'How are these villages called 'Hidden Villages' if every Joe-Schmoe like me knows where it is? Perhaps just a left-over of past traditions or their way of sounding cooler?' she pondered as she arrived with the heavy coat that she wore upon her body. While the locals might find this pleasurable weather, this wasn't exactly the kind of weather she was accustomed to. The coat would be needed for quite a while-yet until she grew accustomed to the temperature. This place, dubbed 'Dragon Tooth Pass' was an enigma to her. Comparing what she knew of Konoha's gates and the easily accessible location it was in to this place completely blew her mind. This place wasn't a naturally made barrier, that much was obvious, with the jagged rock formations that made traversing it nigh impossible (if she wasn't a shinobi) made her wonder how they did actual trade with people. Rather, how did normal people find their way into the village to give them jobs?

Kaori shook her head and bundled up as she walked up to the gates. She stepped in-place to try to keep her body-temperature from dropping too low. Chicken skin grew upon hers with her hairs standing on-end and involuntarily shivering to try to keep warm. It looked delightful outside, but damnit, this temperature didn't mesh with her well at-all. She moved her ungloved hands up to her mouth and blew warm air into her palms. Her aversion to cold probably didn't help as, when she got lost, she found herself on the Spine of the World; a rather inhospitable place already. It was relatively recent since her visit to the Spine of the World with signs of icicles beginning to melt upon the fuzzy part of her long coat.

As she stepped in-place, Kaori grumbled to herself. "What's a girl gotta do to get some help around here? Man, it's so cold here. I hope I don't get greeted by penguins," she said in jest, even making herself chuckle at the prospects of being welcomed by a flightless water-bird. Even with the prospect of meeting one, if she actually get welcomed by a penguin, she'd probably be EXTREMELY upset. The longer she sat out here, the more and more thawed out she became. Certainly, this place was still a lot cooler than Konoha and the Fire Country was, but it wasn't actually THAT inhospitable to where she'd probably freeze to death.

A thought popped into her head and she started to pat herself down, even lifting her breasts to make sure she didn't put her passport there. After searching for a bit, she felt the flat book hidden away beneath the obi of her outfit. She unbuttoned her long coat and reached her hand into the obi to pull out a water-proof plastic bag. She unzipped the bag and pulled out a rather warm book with almost no stamps on it. She took a sigh of relief upon ensuring she had the passport, replaced it in the bag, zipped up the bag and placed it in one of the many pockets in her jacket. Now all she does is wait for someone to talk to. Oh, those stone-faced ninja guarding the gate? Naw, they don't seem interested in helping her. Ugh!

I guess it's no surprise they post me to watch the gates right off the bat... Though I guess it's not so bad. I mused the thoughts to myself, as I sat back in the booth that was stationed conveniently enough to see the entryway of the gates with some leeway. My legs were propped up to the desk in-front of me, and my leaning back ever so slightly- Did it look unprofessional? A little for sure, but the average Deathwatch stationed wouldn't say anything anyways. So I sat relaxed, while they stood at the top of the gates like vultures awaiting their next meal.

Actually. That's a bit of a creepy analogy-- Oh well. Still my thoughts drift; the day had been pretty by the book; the occasional merchant and that was about it- Most shinobi encounters were quick given they all served Kumogakure- And most of which I let out earlier in the day anyways.

After busying myself with a book for the last hour, it wasn't much longer that I saw a new arrival strutting up the climb to the brunt of the gates in the distance. Figuring I'd get ahead of the game, I prompted kicked my feet off the desk and swiped up a clipboard, pen and the check-in slip.
Idly walking out of the booth I made my way towards the gate, I s'pose I might have been a bit hard to spot with all the cold, brown and greys of the village surroundings. As the woman didn't seem to notice me immediately in my wandering. From a quick glance, she seemed to be searching fo- Ah the passport. I nodded to myself only for a moment.

Definitely a foreigner though; judging by their posture and build- Likely a shinobi, hm. Wonder what for. Instead of talking to myself for the whole ordeal, I got close enough to overhear her muttering about penguins and assistance. Seems to have been a rather exciting trip; sarcasm- Of course.

"'Fraid no penguins today. Just a regular ol' guard." Amusing the thought in the open air; my droll tone carried in the wind for her to hear loud and clear. As I study her a moment, adorned with my usual careless and dour expression plastered on my face. I figure she could discern the reason of my appearance, despite my barbaric attire of furs, leathers and the off-piece of scale-based armors. I did adorn the symbol of Kumogakure embroidered on my vest.

"Though, that regular ol' guard will need that. And the reason of your arrival." My eyes drifted to the passport she held in hand. At the same time, I offered my own palm; awaiting the passport so I could go over the authorizations. A simple job, confirm the person; their reason of arrival and fill the paperwork- That is of course, unless they decided to try and bull-rush through- Those situations are troublesome. Really.

Kaori would be a liar if she thought that there would be someone to let her in any time soon. She expected to make camp, start a fire, roast some strange animal's meat, and stay warm during her stay in front of the massive gates leading towards Kumogakure. However, thankfully, she had someone come to her rescue; to rescue her from the impending boredom and the chill that ran up her spine. However, the man's arrival was long enough to cause Kaori's mind to drift; something that was rather 'unwise' in a strange and foreign land. She wasn't here to stir-up any trouble. She was here to herald the arrival of Yomi from Konoha to here; attempting to seek a form of sanctuary for her. Kaori wouldn't be so lucky as to considered a 'sanctuary-seeker' in the eyes of Kumogakure. Who knows, maybe they'd separate her from Yomi.

Mid-yawn, Kaori received an answer to her penguin question. She was shocked to see a real person answer the gate rather than a flightless bird. She expected almost nothing less in this frigid north. Clearing her throat, she looked at the rugged man that greeted her at the gates. "Or maybe you're a penguin in the skin of a man. Maybe that's just a little bit morbid?" she said with a little bit of a chuckle, raising her hand to make the 'little bit' gesture with her fingers. She looked over the barbaric-looking man, judging his appearance to be the standard-fair for all shinobi of Kumogakure. She had rather unkind words to say about Cloud-Nin in general, based upon Shieo's appearance, but she held her tongue.

At least the symbol of Kumogakure upon the man was enough to let her know that he was a native to these lands. Kaori, on the other hand, didn't have any village identification on her. She hadn't had pleasant memories of the village nor did she feel the need to owe the village anything; to include her loyalty. Her loyalty resided with one woman; Yomi. Wherever she wanted to go is where Kaori would go. Kaori shuffled through her stuff and pulled out her passport and opened it up to the page with her picture on it. The picture was a little out-dated with her looking a bit more on the 'rebellious' side, bearing purple and pink hair. She might have grown out of that non-sense, but she is still the same person she was back then, except a bit more mature due to tragic circumstances.

"I am the forward guard for Lady Yomi. I've actually come to secure lodging for her and potential sanctuary. My stay here won't be for too long. Her children and her handmaiden SHOULD be here right now," Kaori stated before clearing her throat and looked around. She leaned in and whispered to the man. "Also, do you guys have some hotsprings? I REALLY need to take a dip," she said, a bit embarrassed about talking about that sorta stuff. She had been out in the wilds for a long time, traveling from one town to the next dealing with the accursed Dragon Statues. During her travels, she had to rely on natural water-sources for bathing; being extremely cold water. A hot bath is something she was DYING for right now.

Yomi probably wouldn't mind Kaori doing this while trying to find her accommodations, now would she?

After the woman had passed the joke further along the line of penguins. I recognize that I somewhat paused, and stared in an idle discomfort "Well..." Granting a careful pause, I continued "Seems you have a rather- Extensive imagination." Truth be told, the paused silence- that I hope drew out some awkwardness for the woman, was exactly what I wanted. I'm not really one for conversation if I can help it.

Upon receiving the passport, I planted it atop my clip-board. Flipping through the pages and confirming any details that the check-list elaborated on; one would assume a person may just know what's necessary by heart, but given that I don't fulfill this job often; I'd rather just be certain I covered everything. Despite the slight visual outdated differences, the woman was in-fact still her. The features remained the same, certain bodily features like the jawline, shape of their eyes and the minute details all checked out at quick glance.

After all things were done and said, I withdrew a stamp and went to the closest blank page to her details and marked the date and symbol of her arrival to Kumogakure. Slapping the book closed with the palm of my hand, I then extended it out in offering back to the owner. "Well Miss Tenkawa, you're clear to enter. Just follow the rules and don't cause any problems and things should be smooth for your task." After I spoke, she seemed to make a fairly blunt inquiry; which left me to arch a brow of mine own. In a stupor of pausing, I sort of glanced down to my attire and general personal appearance- I didn't really smell, but I sort of started to appreciate the rough look- It made people second guess interacting with me. So I owned it, "Not to be crass. But I don't s'pose I'm the sort that looks like they'd know. Do I?" After letting the comment set in for a moment, I motioned into the village a bit casually. "Perhaps it may be best to ask one of the locals that isn't posted to work all the time. They may have better insight on luxuries."

Kaori will take that little comment about her imagination as a compliment. Her reaction, however, betrays her inner thoughts -- giving the barbaric-looking man a raised eyebrow. Kaori crossed her arms over her chest and looked around, waiting for the man the go through the motions, step-by-step to look over and place his stamp of approval on the passport. As he did this, she let her mind wander over the prospects of a beautifully warm bath that would soothe her muscles and the feeling of pure relaxation; it's been several years coming for an experience like that. Now if she had someone strong to also massage the lumps and kinks out of her back, legs, and arms! Oh, she was fantasizing at this point to getting pampered.

Once the man named Shieo was done with her passport, she took the passport back and plunged it into the obi just below her breasts and wrapped herself back up in the large coat that she had donned. "Don't worry, as long as the prying eyes of your people remain on themselves and not on me, there won't be any problems," she said with a hint of bitterness in her voice. She had a thing against perverts and their constantly watching eyes. She's a ninja, not a geisha, so she should be treated like one and not the other.

It was then Shieo made a crass comment about whether or not he looked like he bathed or not. Kaori shrugged her shoulders. It wasn't her fault the man appeared feral. "Who knows? Maybe you should try it out sometime and let your body be swept away in the warmth of the water. Trust me, it's a beautiful feeling. Just make sure you aren't in there the same time I am, alright?" she said with a bit of a weak smile. "Well, unless if all you do is work and sleep with no time to tend to your personal hygiene, then perhaps your village should give you time to wash up. Maybe give you mandatory wash-time, hm?" she said with a bit of a chuckle.

"Anyway, I thank you for letting me in," she said giving the man a little bow before walking into the village.
