Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

With the argil messenger out of sight and the clapping of its wings lost to him, Yoshihisa decides at once at turn his attention back towards the impostor with a detesting gaze which would most definitely meet the standards to murder if looks could kill. Uncertainty of which there was none might have been the one thing keeping the student in check at this point, but as the trickles of blood ran down his arm quickly turned into a shape most suited to pierce the being in front of him, no doubt remaining to anyone that even his own body would be employed in the upcoming fight in ways that even full fledged Shinobi would horrified by. But to the boy, it was nothing like the monstrosity, the foul mockery of what a human being left behind that was currently raised to pose as Reishii: Edo Tensei, he was sure of it, in that his research had mentioned time and time again the branch of outlawed techniques a certain Kinjutsu had brought forth and continued to plague the world till this very day. Even Iwagakure, for all that their pagan ways had taught them about the value of returning someone to the elements was no exception, making it all the more surprising that this had happened out in the open.

"Bakuton: Ryū no Honō!" (Explosion Release: Dragon Fire)

Drops of spittle washed over the boy's chin as he viciously chewed away at the chunk of clay used for the previous sculpture all while forming the seals, knowing very well that despite the fact that his supplies weren't limited he still shouldn't be wasteful and should try to end this as quickly as possible. If it hadn't been for the technique, Yoshihisa's features still supported all possible excuses to spit at the impostor Reishii, only instead of the usual, it resulted in a small ceramic cloud rapidly hovering over to close the distance between them. And despite being about as imposing as a thrown china teacup with looks alone, the explosion following upon contact would be large enough to engulf the inanimate body as a whole, in the process shattering any of the crystals in the immediate vicinity.

Before the dust had even had a chance to settle, the barrage continued in the boy's attempt to bring down the walking corpse. Nearly being scorched by the last assault seemed to matter little, least of all worthy of reconsidering if he should remain on the blast side or not if his body would even allow it, and thus the next series of explosions followed in rapid succession. The incoming pieces of scrapnel nearly tore away at his face, his body as a whole yet as a streak of incredible luck had avoided any major limbs or vital organs. Most of all, as he lay there panting, he couldn't deny that the one doing the most damage was himself, to himself, but all for a cause worthy of draining yourself for.

"I don't know if whomever is behind all this can hear me, if this class as a whole was a ruse to begin with, but know that no matter if you are the one "Mister Joker" or this so-called "Queen" who is behind these despicable acts, that I'll seek you out.."

And with those words, the blood projectile was fired towards the crater left behind by the explosions, hoping dearly that this last resort was no longer needed.

It was only gradually that the realization dawned on the boy that he indeed might have made a rather foolish judgement call in this scenario, even if the bird would be speaking to him now not being even remotely aware who this so-called 'Watson' might be and what his place in history was in the first place, so for all that he knew Yoshihisa had just started an awkward one sided conversation with an ordinary turkey and had lucked out to find that it appeared to know what he meant by it. However, his moment to ponder his embarrassment was brief, for no matter how short the letter had proven to be, the opening alone meant there were going to be a lot of complications when handling the response to this letter.

"Not quite sure how to bring this to you, as far as talking to you might be mutually beneficial to the both of us, but the person this letter is addressed to has since passed away and seeing how dire the request from Lord Melkor is I could only imagine what this will me-.."

Bereft of breath and for even someone challenged to set aside human frailties when progressing on the road to be a Shinobi, Yoshihisa couldn't help but be taken aback by the grim sight darkening the horizon and the deafening bellow which followed: A creature of titanic proportions, undeniably fearsome in both size and strength was making no secret out of the fact it was present and striding towards the village of Iwagakure with intentions nobody was certain of, but everybody feared one and the same. It took the youngster a while before realizing what should be done, without further ado digging back hands in the satchels hanging from his waist only to pull them back moments later, the revealed maws occupying the palms vigorously chewing away at a grey substance. Whatever the matter had been for the Kami lord to sent a message had officially been overruled, but the least he could do as a Toujigikou was get the messenger out to safety in style while including the response.

"Sorry for the rush but it looks like you might not want to stay here for much longer if you don't have to be, and even then I highly doubt we can guarantee you safety that a proper flight could not."

With those words, the maws slung out a pair of figurines which upon the forming of Yoshihisa's seals took sizes multiple times their original with one of them appearing to be a clone of the boy while the other was a rather crude image to a Woodpecker, rustling its feathers to signal it was ready to take off at any moment. It took on a position as if it were to roost in order to help the turkey get on while the clone and original exchanged something before the former would join the two of them, by all means unfazed by the prospect of the humongous creature they were trying to escape from.

"These should be lasting long enough to get you across the Earth Country's border, the clone holding the message to your employer as well as your payment, in the very worst of circumstances possibly the key to survival as well."

And with those words he took his leave, leaving complete control of the two sculptures to the messenger and hoping deep down inside that there would end up to be at least one less casualty.

With the scowl playing on the pedestrian's face saying more than a thousand words could possibly insult the young Shinobi, Yoshihisa just decided to quickly sneak by the man before continuing onwards without any actual clears directions in mind, not that he should be having any at that. All with all the day had almost come to an end, and it had been an awfully long one at that, for it became harder with the minute for him to keep his eyes from falling shut only to open again after he had taken it upon himself to get a good night's rest, no matter if he had actually had obtained the one thing he had been looking for.

Perhaps it would indeed be for the best if he would head home now, for there were no signs of any other Toujigikou owned stores in the whole district for as far as he could tell, making it a somewhat stubborn race against the clock. That and the enormously high risk he would be calling upon himself if he wasn't fully awake during the next negotiation: Whether to be proud or to despise his heritage at times like these, but it couldn't be argued that for all that it was worth, the members of the Toujigikou had a certain 'advantage' which made going against them not exactly profitable. Yoshihisa's features warped in the form of a troubled smirk, as this was exactly the one thing he would one day have to leave to live with. That and the currently chirping pair occupying the palms of his hands.

"Gigigigigiii..!"

It was only when the first glorious beams of light illuminated the path in front of him that the hooded figure decided to make his silent entrance into one of the -even for those hew from solid rock- decrepit buildings, his presence only given away by an occasional creak of the rotting floorboards. The thick layers of dust and grime which had settled around him were the silent testament of the decline of Iwagakure decades ago, for even the academy, once the proud centre of education had eventually fallen prey to the preference of the people to move elsewhere, it too being abandoned in the progress. It must have been quite a lot to take in for the unknown visitor, for despite the fact that the scarlet robes draped around his figure not once gave away his appearance, let alone his features to be read he strode across hallways in utter silence while the air grew around him grew increasingly tense. Memories, those fond and those dripping with malaise alike were clinging to this building and flooded back to him as he strode on by.

Only now did it occur to him that the academy among others really managed to keep a somewhat pristine condition, despite the shelter it had provided to the frail and wounded even in the days where Iwagakure had been ravaged by the malevolent forces nature had cast upon them. Thrashed like they had in their wake, the cracks which had formed in the ceiling as a result had just now, literally, managed to shed light upon the shrouded figure, the stained ivory surface of a mask which had without a doubt seen better days becoming visible in the process: Yet even its old and worn state didn't manage to elude whom it had once presented as well as masked, the faded markings of a system long since proven obsolete still proudly on display. Those of the ANBU.

----- [Present Day] -----

His recuperation stage having passed and the wounds of his last ANBU training session just barely having closed, Yoshihisa already dashed across the schoolyard to be in time for his next appointment. The youth had been looking forward to the class for quite some time now, the ANBU instructors being more than capable to at least show up and guide someone through an entire class instead of having to cope with the inconsistent attitude present in the vast majority other classes, found in both teacher and student alike. Fact was that he would have to work hard in order to meet his quota before the start of the Genin exams, as more and more sessions were cut off early without ever serving any goal towards earned credit.

The scolding of his fellow academy goer didn't exactly surprise Yoshihisa in the slightest, actually feeling the relief wash over him that the ANBU kept true to at least certain primary standards and wouldn't shy away from berating those failing to meet their expectations. They were at trial to be part of the insightful and profound when they signed up for this class, striving to be part of Iwagakure's elite so to say where indeed such tardiness could cost lives out in the field. Thus the boy Shinobi silently nodded in agreement, sternly reminding himself that by doing so his move could have been decisive and had made a himself potentially unlikeable. In any other situations these downright lacking regards for the lives of his fellow people would have without a doubt made his blood run cold, for despite progressing faster than he had predicted and his interest in being an ANBU he still had never taken a life before, neither did he want to if it involved the people in the first place he had set out to protect. But on the other hand it had long since been clear to him that those taking advantage of the situation and the crippled position of others had to be eliminated for the better of the cause, whether he would long for another solution or not. It was something he prepared himself to die for at such a young age, as many had before him and not being the last of this lineage either. And thus Yoshihisa crouched, running his nimble finger over the rugged pair of slacks now only inches away from his face, ready at any time to set off a series of explosions the likes of which would bring pride to the Toujigikou in the process.

Yet this pride had at times proven to be nothing more than a mere target for personal assaults. And despite his usual calm and collected personality Yoshihisa felt like there couldn't have been a more hurtful insult to be flung at his head now that the instructor seemed to think he had no control whatsoever at this crucial point over live explosives nonetheless. His convertion of jutsu into the signature animated bombs of the Kekkei Genkai had provided him with enough mastery to take the reins at any given time as it was mandatory: All the while mumbling out the combination to follow, Yoshihisa slowly sat down whilst forming a few hand seals, not even sure whether to dignify any of it with a response.

His eyes fell shut without another word or even a movement to speak of, for he had entered the trance the jutsu had called for, all with a more than obvious result. Down below the animated sculptures had stopped in their tracks, most not even having undergone any reason in particular to even move from their spot to begin with, yet the renewed connection with their creator told him enough that some had been put in a rather unfortunate situation: Clenched between the jaws of a stray dog, one of them had thus far suited it well as a makeshift chewing toy, the ignorance of the animal had caused it to only be moments away from being considered hostile, a rather unnerving thought for the boy. The situation had called for a more remote controlled operation after all, despite his efforts to make sure that his creations wouldn't be standing out too much to set of explosions as a last resort. Now firmly within Yoshihisa's grasp and being robbed of his liberty to detonate on his own, the tormented bomb started hissing loudly in the process of disabling itself with the hopes of either scaring the stray away from it and be cautious of any others it would happen to come across. That or keeping it occupied for long enough to remove at least another harmful factor from the soon-to-be battlefield.

The ruckus down below, while only vaguely aware of it in his trance allowed Yoshihisa to pinpoint the attention for his clay drones and it wouldn't be long before they were set into motion, their gathering forces spearheaded by what appeared to be an unusually disguised tin can insectoid tasked with lugging around the gleaming orb it held up tightly clenched between its miniscule front arms. Even with the loss of one of their brethren their numbers were still considerable enough to be capable of making a difference inside the building: In the worst case scenario where they weren't capable of containing this riot in time for it to spread outside as well, he had still preserved enough chakra to drag himself through another wave to come. The fact was that they probably weren't going to be capable of much more than an easily containable explosion as they hadn't been charged to actually wreck havoc throughout the area, making them excellent for the task of crowd controlling as he saw fit. Or at least to some extend.

It wouldn't be long until the wide array of sculptures had managed to catch up to his instructor and team mate, with the course of action at least calling for him to make clear that he was remotely controlling them, Yoshihisa gathered them up in a rather crude kanji notification for Kaji to be aware of it. And despite its simplicity the command had pushed him into dismissing his earlier creation, not even having to be watching to know that another screen of smoke soon would rob it of its animated form, thus leaving only a motionless figurine in its wake. As a result, the somewhat sluggish moments of the remaining clay creations got admittedly soother, their forms almost appeared to be rejoiced of what was to come despite their lack of sentience. Either that or Yoshihisa too wasn't always capable of keeping the strangling hold of the nerves at bay while in the process letting his true feelings shine through through their actions. One look one almost certainly point out towards the latter.

With the exception of the orb bearing sculpture who had secured a hiding spot under one of the last remaining, if not badly thrashed porches, all others had already broken free from their formation on order to scatter all around the scene of the fight where they started digging as fast as their pin-sized legs would allow. Within seconds, all of them were perfectly hidden from sight, the operator behind their actions shutting off his connection with them for the time being after positive they were dormant, and thus not a threat towards the bystanders if they didn't have to be.

"Bakuton: Nendo Bunshin."

No seals were woven this time, despite the complexity behind the technique Yoshihisa had called upon: In front of him stood a copy of the boy crafted in the perfect image of the boy, and one familiar with the inner workings would know well enough that it had certain advantages. The clone didn't waste as much as a second before it jumped into the fray from the rooftop, aiming to stealthily descent behind the man going by the name of Tetsuo during the rampage he had demanded from his servant. It didn't take much from it to make sure the attention was fixated on someone else during this stage of the plan, and before the man clad in cumbersome armor had even a chance to dodge Yoshihisa's split image it had already turned itself upon him. What followed was a rather odd process, not as much as the creation from someone capable of letting his imagination flow freely but mostly in terms of Bunshin techniques altogether. Mashed up against the man's body was a hump of clay that in the slightest still resembled its original humanoid shape, but now had been drained from its color which kept the illusion alive that to most it would have appeared to be human.

"Sonegawa Tetsuo, was it? It is truly an honor to meet you, but I'm afraid that even someone of your magnitude can manage to over stay their welcome if they start a riot like this, so if you value your life I would like to ask you kindly to cease these activities.."

What might have been more frightening than the twisted appearance the clone had been left with was its ability to speak, or for that matter that soon enough a smaller chunk of its form broke free in the form of a perfectly shaped dove. The latest sculpture's life was short-lived however, for once it had reached the height where no direct harm could be done it was swallowed whole by a thundering explosion, managing to both literally and figuratively make people shake in their boots had it been closer to the ground. Down below the clay mass encasing the Lord of the Sonegawa family shifted in order to expand its hold as well as restrict any further movements before it spoke once more, this time loud enough to be heard by the crowd as well.

"There is no need to panic! The situation is under control!"

Or at least so he hoped.

Interrogation: It would be branded into the youngster's subconscious as the vilest of practices when introducing the standards of Iwagakure, as much so that it would be the one subject he initially would have refused to cooperate with or even discuss for that matter. Stemming from his wishes as a child where he had always hoped to keep it as his last line of defences, his one sanctuary that would be safe from harm and where his imagination could roam free. Those employed within these dimly lit halls, special interrogation squads and ANBU alike were more than capable of crushing these wishes just as much as they could erase the mental defences one had left when brought in for questioning.

But with his recent introduction to the ANBU, an unreal achievement given his age, Yoshihisa was no longer allowed to shut his eyes, had him take in the dark secrets of a village which would be a death sentence to whatever shred of childish innocence remained in someone capable of obtaining the rank in the first place. It hovered over him like a dark cloud at all times, soon enough becoming aware that is was not even being bound to the Onyxian Sanctum as the story of his life progressed. Doubt kept on lingering in his mind, tainted all which he had loved so dearly in his life. Even his parents would seem distant now, despite just being at an arm's length. Why didn't anyone reach out to him..?

Interrogation: It would be branded into the youngster's subconscious as the vilest of practices when introducing the standards of Iwagakure, as much so that it would be the one subject he initially would have refused to cooperate with or even discuss for that matter. Yoshihisa cautiously strode across the road leading up to Iwagakure, the Titan's Keep in the distance still managing to strike him with awe as it had the very first time. With his umber coat cloaking him from view under the dark of night, the Shinobi had only barely managed to sort out his racing thoughts and wouldn't mind having another moment to himself while the silence lasted. Yet to forgo now couldn't delay that his was meant to be a path of an aspiring ANBU, the mere thought of bringing out a report very first thing in the morning caused the boy's stomach to roil. A year had passed since his training had begun, but he would be deceiving himself if he kept the hope alive that any sort of pleasant homecoming would be awaiting him once he had stepped beyond the gates. It would have to wait.

"Kodoma Yoshihisa, reporting! May I enter?"

With the guard looking down upon him from his booth with a somewhat irate gaze, Yoshihisa knew it was going to be a long night.

The Forest of Death shuddered violently, yet this time its inhabitants would not dare to approach the hooded figure; Smoldering carcasses of what had once been apex predators littered the ground, the stench of molten tissue wafting through the air as it greeted any comers still fixated on making this their very final venture.

Yoshihisa was met with the dreaded sense of disappointment as he soared through the sky some time later. He had made his efforts to prolong the inevitable some more, but he knew there was no point to dancing around the subject matter ahead of him any longer. Beneath the wings of his avian construct rolled the vast expanse of Konohagakure, his next stop en route to whatever destination fate had kept from him ever since he had gone into self-imposed exile. The jab of discomfort at the sight of it was to be expected. For as far and wide as he had wandered the lands it was the first and only village he had gotten himself to approach since Iwagakure, so homesickness was a lurking threat in the back of his mind. Was his heart meant to belong here now all of the sudden? He doubted it.

An inaudible squawk and the clay bird set in its descent towards the ground, gliding agilely towards the rather imposing outer walls of Konohagakure. No matter how indifferent he wished to be, the sight -or blur, rather- of the grand Phoenix Gate on its own was already awe-inspiring, its widespread reputation by no extravagant once beheld up close. If time could be spared perhaps he would delve deeper into the finer details there were to know about it, he mused as his boots firmly planted themselves on the dirt below with a muted thud.
