Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Akira had been approached by two young shinobi, one who sought him deliberately, the other who had stumbled upon his forge... still, they had ended up requesting his guidance and as far as living shinobi went, few had more experience than he to teach.

So he would teach them, and they would learn what it was that they would need to know.

Todays lesson would be on Cloud's history, the wars that had been fought, and discussion of battle tactics. The first parts more a lecture, the latter part would require Akira figuring out the pair's strengths, their tactics, their current training and knowledge. Then he could guide them towards what he would think is their best path. Whether it be the one they choose to walk or not, at least the option would be over to them.

The class was going to be taken outside.

Akira waited in the shade of a tree. He preferred being outside, gave more freedom to move and it meant that he wouldn't be stuck behind some ridiculously small 'standard' teachers desk. Outside he could be more himself and feel like a normal part of the world. He didn't have his weapon with him today though, which made him feel much lighter than he was used to when out and about. But teaching a class shouldn't mean needing to fight all out.

The class would start in 10 minutes, so Akira was waiting to see if they'd be on time.

Oh yes, the boy was ecstatic! Recently, coming from a battle with his friend he stumbled upon none other than the former Raikage Akira Saito. A Hyuuga, leader of Cloud's Hyuuga clan. And today was no mere hello, how are you doing, but a lesson. Today, The Legendary Kage would be his tutor on battle schemes, gaining wisdom from this man would be sure to prove useful in the young shinobi's life. This shinobi world, it was different, but he took a liking to it, this was seen with a smile.

He was dashing through the town, before he slid to a stop, dust kicking up as he slowed down. He peered deep out and saw a figure, beneath the shade of a tall tree. No doubt, his eyes did not deceive him, there was his Mempo. And so, he began to slowly walk over that way. He paced himself, catching his breath as he running rather quickly to try and get to the lesson as soon as possible. Within in range he would speak out, but now before bowing at the hip.

"Mempo..."

Suddenly, that smirk was replaced by an intense gaze. Every time he caught sight of this man, he could only think of his future. He realized, a shinobi life could be short lived for most, and yet, this man stands a giant, battle scarred and still blessed with exceptional health. This was, at least what he thought, the ideal shinobi life.

"I have come humbly..."

He lowered himself onto one knee. The whole time he kept his young eyes down from Akira, some bangs that rested across his forehead help to his his large white hyuuga hues. As he bowed once more, the child would finally lift his face to reveal himself.

"I have come seeking your guidance, and your discernment of my future, if you will Sensei. Some day, I also hope to be a Hyuuga of renown. Apologies for my introduction in our first impression, I was bit... winded. Sensei, will you critique my abilities?"

Ever since that day that he stumbled into that odd hut in the middle of the forest and met the former Raikage, Kiri knew he’d be seeking the man out, more frequently than not. But after days of being hung up with medical studies, it was time to get back into training his body. He needed to learn more about combat, and more about his own capabilities. In fact, with his recent fight with a certain six-limbed man, it was obvious that his own control over his own beast was far from perfect, and though their unity could aid him, it still needed work.

Sighing, he entered through the gates of the Academy as he was eager to make a change. After all, he somehow told his senpai (aka Osu) that he would one day ask him for a sparring match to see where he stood. After all, he saw Osu’s form on that day in Junko’s class, and he could tell that the latter was as dangerous as any of the big guys around the village. It would be a disgrace if Osu’s student was pathetic, so he wanted to somehow get better and prove his worth.

“Strength isn’t the only thing needed for victory. You know that,” said the beast inside him as he walked along the hallway.

“I know. That’s why I need to learn more. Not just about brute force. Not just about reckless attacks. I need to learn why it is necessary and how can it be more effective,” answered Kiri as he finally made a turn and came out to the grassy patch of the inner area of the academy.

Already, he spotted Shouyu having arrived and under a tree was the man he asked if he could learn from him. The other kid was probably of the same mind. That was good. If their teamwork could be improved, the better.

So he proceeded to greet them both.

“Hello, Old Man Akira… I mean, Akira-sama,” said Kiri with a smile before looking at Shouyu and raised a hand, “Destiny likes to bring us together, huh? Don’t doubt yourself this time.”

Akira nodded to the first boy who asked him to help. For Akira however he wondered if his younger brother would have been a better tutor for the kid. His brother had always been stronger in the bloodline's abilities than Akira had been, it had always been something which Akira had used as a way of improving his ability with Ninjutsu, especially at the age that this young boy was at.

Still, he would do what he could, the head of the Saito Clan would be unlikely to give his time to a non-clan member, such was the younger brothers pride.

The second was another young boy, pride filled him, Akira could tell by the way he spoke. Still, perhaps it was guidance that the young boy required more than anything else. Pride was a flaw, and often created many problems in a fight. Still, these were things which he would look at in more detail later. He could be wrong, sometimes people project a false pride to hide other weaknesses.

Welcome to todays class. I will begin by discussing briefly some wars that this land has suffered, both recent and old. The purpose of this is to show the myriad of opponents you may face and the scale of those battles. You can't possibly fully appreciate them until you are a part of something like it, but to know what to expect does allow you to take precautions towards it.

He looked at each of them, seriousness rarely left his features anyway, but still it was clear that he was speaking quite seriously here.

The first war I will speak of will be that which placed Kumogakure on the map of the world. We had been founded many years earlier but with a small population we had remained hidden mostly. Still the village had been found and destroyed, twice, by the people who had invaded and taken the land now known as Lightning Country.

Our people had fled and reformed the village a third time, the invaders had called the land they had conquered home for about a hundred years. Yet a group of swordsmen invaded the lands to attack them. These swordsmen would become famous for killing the rulers and driving back the invading forces from these lands. What goes unspoken outside of Cloud lore is of the efforts of our forefathers.

Our forefathers heard of the swordsmen and their attacks, and so decided that what they needed was an opening. So they moved through the mountains which had protected them, inviting the third and likely final destruction of our village, but they desired that moving against them was for the greater good. Though our forefathers died during this, few returning, they created the opening that was required for those swordsmen to achieve their glory.

You need to understand that though they never had songs sung about them in distant lands, they didn't need them to. They knew what they achieved, and they performed their duty for the good of all.

It was a tale of loss, a tale which showed that victory wasn't always achieved through life and glory, but sometimes death and sacrifice. That Cloud still stood was testament to their success.

Next I would speak of the demon wars, wars I was involved in during my youth. These wars were horrible, it was in our village, fought in our streets, they showed no mercy, killing raping, performing ungodly acts on anyone and anything they could. We had our champions fight them, and in the end Shinbatsu fought their leader, the king of the demons in a one on one duel which would secure Shinbatsu's glory in our legends, and to many as a god.

Now despite this we have been plagued by the demon world still. We worked against their leaders, fought them in many great battles, heroes were born and tales told of their exploits. Masao and Rin, Hisae, Ryuuto, Ryuujin, there are even tales told of myself, though I was but a child, your age, and yet I have never felt deserving of the praise I received.

Often the tales told, the fame you receive, it will not feel like something you deserved, it wont be anything earned. But people will look for the positives, they need something to focus on, a positive, and over time those tales will seem all the more real.

The tales told of me was on how a young ANBU graduate joined the fight, killed dozens of demons, helped fell a commander of the demon kind, and saved the Saito clan. I was young, twelve years of age, and I had just graduated from a much harsher ANBU environment than the current environment. However in the battles fought I was bound by the demon minions, I couldn't kill enough of them to make any difference, and others who were more experienced than me were forced to save me.

Tales were told, but I felt like more of a nuisance than an aid. So remember this lesson too. For even if you do gain fame, it may not be for something that you yourself desire to be told, but sometimes the victory is found in the telling of the tales, the removal of the fear that it brings. With the tales came my rise, and thus people felt confident that they were safe as long as I existed. I have worked hard to live up to that expectation.

It was more a burden than something he desired. Something he had been forced to live with, not something he had sought out.

Then there is the war between Bear and Marsh countries. Two armies which couldn't be more different. Bear Country had trained armies, small but competent, they had Cloud and our allies, as well as Star Village to call on for aid. While Marsh was rallied by a mere dozen missing nin, they had bought weapons and armed farmers. Their army was monstrous, but untrained, and purely there to overwhelm the enemy allowing their few number to be able to take out individual shinobi, stopping themselves from being overwhelmed by our number.

We massacred them, but in doing so we stunted an entire countries population. The vast majority of the male population between fifteen and forty were killed in that battle.

We won, but then we were forced to prop up their economy for a decade. The battle itself was horrible, we could kill them like fish in a barrel, but still they came. And then occasionally shinobi of great strength struck out, killing our number, and sometimes we would fall to their overwhelming numbers. It was horrible. I watched, acting as general for the shinobi forces, but after that battle I retired. I could no longer act as a shinobi and needed to seek out answers which only a god could grant.

As Akira began to speak on the lesson he was about to give, Shouyu lowered his other knee to sit on his feels, back straight and attentive. War, the word widened his eyes, and his mind wanted to rabbit back to thoughts of his home land but he quickly dispelled it before it could begin. Akira was going to prep him on understanding a multitude of enemies he may face in his own time, with this, his head gave a slight nod. His lesson proceeded into the first great war of Kumo, a tide of three long harsh battles. All the words rang through his ear as a sad song, yet with triumphant horns in the distance, rumbling in melody. But in the end, the lesson he understood. Sometimes victory is a sacrifice, and thought it may seem like one failed, his triumphs will live on to emerge in the future. He almost grew teary eyed at this feat.

The next he spoke of demon wars, just the word sent a cold shiver down his spine, he twinged, maybe seen by the others too, but he quickly straightened himself again. These wars, Akira Sensei said he was apart, which if he recalls was true from the history scrolls available. His vivid description of gory times made Shouyu shut his eyes and look away for a few seconds, gulping and returning his gaze back to Mempo. Then sensei spoke of legends, and what it really meant but not only that, what it was to the people who believed you were the legend. In times of such strife, shinobi not only fight to defend their people from harm, but they also fight to keep the light deep in everyone's heart shining, through any dark times like those in war. An amazing cause!

Mempo told of his feats, hence the reason he himself wanted to become ANBU, the first line of defense! He wouldn't mind a death on the battlefield, if it meant that his team would succeed and his goal was accomplished! And yet, Akira Mempo lives today to tell the tale himself! In excitement, he rose to a knee and bit his lip. He understood completely and fell back to sitting on his heels and knees, catching his breath as Akira paused. The final war was between Bear and Marsh company, if he recalled, Bear and Cloud were good ally's while, Marsh was muddy waters indeed. This battle seemed terrible, almost pointless, to where nothing was gained from it but strife. True enough, he could see why Mempo chose to do what he did then. He nodded once more.

"Truly a compelling story Mempo. Sometimes, our sacrifice is a victory not felt by us then, but in the later generations. And man's self fortitude is strong indeed, to make a legend not just a tale of mere words, but a hope... a light for the people."
