Kitsune had been experimenting with combining elements. Lately she had been mastering just about everything she could get her hands on, and sometimes she tried mixing things together. This was one of those times. And the subjects of her mixing? Fire and water. – Yes, fire and water. Two elemental opposites, but hey. As long as it works, right? So far the results had been less than desirable, but as Kitsune had learnt, most beginnings are hard. So she pressed on, trying varying amounts of mixing the elements to achieve a tangible result. One time she managed to literally light the water on fire, which wasn’t quite what she had expected.
After much trial and error, Kitsune had managed to combine the two elements in such a way that they generated a shadow. Oddly enough, she could stretch and touch the dang thing, which was unusual for a shadow… So she kept experimenting in that direction, trying to turn it into an actual, untouchable, shadow. And if possible… Maybe even control the shadows around her? – Fast forward a couple of weeks, and Kitsune had begun manipulating her own shadow. She could make it bigger and smaller at will, and even without looking at it. It most definitely was progress!
Fast forward another couple of weeks and Kitsune had seemingly mastered control of the shadows around her, how it worked? No clue; but it did! Kitsune once used it to make herself seem significantly more threatening to a person she was negotiating a business transaction with. By dimming the lights in the room, and having the shadow appear bigger behind her, she seemed to grow in size. Coupled with her ability to overlay the thunderous might of Ancient Kumo with her Common, the shrewd Duchess managed to seal yet another deal in her own favor.
