Kaen had woken up early this day, the birds could be heard cooing just outside their windows. The area was still relatively quiet, as nobody else typically woke up this early. Not for long though... Kaen began to make a ruckus in the kitchen, pulling pans and pots out, gathering miscellaneous dished out in preparation for a special meal. From down the hallway, sizzling noises could be heard and the lofting aromas drafting down the hallways would be heard and smelled by Kasen. Kaen was making breakfast for the dynamic brother-sister duo. A day of... ninja-ing was much harder on an empty stomach. The soft pitter patter of Kasen's footsteps could be heard slowly coming down the hallway. Just as she arced the corner and entered the dining room, Kaen has just placed to piping hot plates of bacon and eggs, a side of toast, and a small bowl of fruit. Kaen began to pour a glass of orange juice as he greeted his sister.

"Ohiyo Imouto, I hope you slept well?"

She sleepily rubbed her eyes, still in her pajamas. In her hand was a brush and other hair accessories. She held them out to Kaen in a desperate attempt for help.

"Onii-chan... you're so noisy, you can make up for waking me up by helping me... I'm still soo sleepy."

Kaen couldn't resist her puppy dog eyes she gave him, and begrudgingly accepted her offer and began to help her with her hair. He wasn't terribly proficient at this kind of stuff, but he did what he could to appease his little sister. He pulled out her chair for her so she might sit and enjoy a hearty breakfast filled with just that, heart. Kaen almost forgot one last thing! He hurried over to the stove where he was cooking up some pancakes, I mean... who doesn't love pancakes? Kaen grabbed the handle to remove the pan from the stove and was immediately burned. It seemed the handle and grown hot and he forgot to use a mitt to grab it. The pan crashed down into the ground and Kaen rushed over the sink cursing. He turned the water on and tried to keep his hand submerged to ease the pain.

As Kasen took a s eat at the kitchen table, waiting to be served the delicious pancakes that she could smell her brother making she noticed him going to grab the pan on the stove top before she could stop him and flinched as he let out a cry of pain and started to run his hand under cold water. She sighed to herself, knowing that despite the polite gesture, she couldn't just the poor guy suffer. "You burn yourself too much as it is, Onii-chan, maybe we can avoid the breakfast mishaps?" Kasen hopped off her chair and shuffled over to her brother, making sure to step over the pan that now lie on the ground with half cooked pancakes splattered around it. She reached over and took his hand in hers. A feint blue-ish white glow covered her hands, allowing her to heal the burn. Kaen wouldn't be able to feel any of the pain linger and his hand would be good as knew, as if the burn never happened. Kasen then looked to the floor and grabbed a mitt, carefully placing the pan back on the stove and grabbing some towels to clean up the mess. After that was finished she went and started to pour herself some cereal before retaking her seat again to begin eating. "Thank you for trying, Onii-chan. I always appreciate how much you do for me. But, please be careful okay? What would you do if I wasn't around to heal you back up!" Kasen gave a smile, accompanied by a giggle.

His sister never did fail to surprise him... Kaen faintly smiled as the luminous blue glow consumed the entirety of his hands. Almost immediately he could feel the pain easing away into a distant memory. As Kasen took to cleaning up the mess he had made, Kaen slowly stretched and flexed his hand, holding it in front of his face. Kasen started to eat again after lightly scolding him and then giving him words of reassurance. It was then she proposed a possibility... what IF she wasn't around...."Kasen... This medical stuff you do, it's really something. I mean this burn is nothing compared to what I might suffer out on mission, but even basic medical skills could come in handy in a pinch... you think you could teach me a thing or two? You said it yourself, I would be lost without you, perhaps a trick or two might have some lasting effect ha ha." Kaen had never really been interested in the meticulous art that was medical ninjutsu... but she had a point, he would need to learn a thing or two from the little master, if he wanted to have a chance and survival without her around.

He had an idea... it was a dumb one, but how else was he going to learn if there was nothing to heal? Here... let me just.... Kaen walked over the the kitchen counter and picked up a pairing knife. He then quickly struck it in a downwards arc across his arm. The blood was slow at first, he hadn't cut deep. It was merely a superficial cut, simple enough for a starter he hoped. Worst case scenario, Kasen could just throw some blue glow shit on and he'd be good as new. Alright... Patient Kaen has arrived and now... um... Jr. Doctor Kaen is ready for training, what's the first step? This entire scene would like insane to an outsider, maybe even to Kasen... But it was spur of the moment and he wanted to learn... this is the way he chose. Was it the smartest route? No. But it would get the job done none the less... it was time for Kasen to lend a hand, a bright and glowing hand that hopefully her idiot of a brother might pick up.

Kasen slowly looked up from what she was doing, perplexed by her brother's request. Kaen didn't seem the type to dabble in trades. If anything, she assumed he was always super competitive, never doing anything half way. She raised an eyebrow slightly suspicious. "You....want to learn....medical things...?" Kasen didn't seem to budge in her third degree gaze. She actively reflected back on the number of times Kaen had burnt himself or injured himself on accident, or came back home all scuffed up and Kasen would work to have him right as rain in no time. It was funny that the siblings had such polar opposite interest but always seemed to be in sync with each other. I suppose that's what happens when you have to lean so heavily on the only person in the world that really matters to you. Thick as thieves, blood thicker than water, all that jazz. They'd been through hell and back together, of course their bond was strong. Kasen supposed Kaen wanting to make efforts in his own self preservation wasn't so bad of an idea. After all, she wouldn't always be there every waking opportunity to save his butt, as she had pointed out already. Yes, she would agree to show him. Would save her the worry.

However, while lost in her own train of thought, she did not see it coming when Kaen pulled out the big knife and slashed it across his arm. Kasen immediately yelped. "Gah! What are you doing! You moron! Don't bleed on the counter!" Kasen immediately grabbed a towel and yanked his arm up, only to put it back down on there. She closed her eyes and sighed. "What am I going to do with you? So brash." She placed her hands on her hips, almost giving him a mother-like gaze, used only to scold their child. Funny then, that Kasen was the younger sibling. "Well, I suppose you really are determined. Alright, well, first thing is, basics, I suppose. So let me go get some supplies." Kasen walked off to the bathroom, grabbing a small medical kit. She brought it out moments later, setting it in front of Kaen and opening it up. Inside was standard things like gauze, bandages, medical tape, rubbing alcohol, thread and needle, cotton swabs and balls, ect. Kasen took out the rubbing alcohol, some cotton balls, and gave them to Kaen. "You want to know how to heal, we're going to do it the basic of all basic ways first, No energy. So, you just take a cotton ball, put some of the rubbing alcohol on it to sterilize the area, and then we're bandage it. Since this doesn't appear to be a very serious wound that would be all we would need to do. But in this case, we'll just clean it."Following that, she would wait for Kaen to follow those steps.

It was cute, really... Listening to Kasen go on about the proper procedure, being so worried about him... She really was turning out to be quite the mother hen. Kaen was barely even listening as she gave him clear instructions on how to treat his bleeding arm. He just couldn't get over the fact about how well she has grown into herself. So young, but so strong, so eager to help... Kasen was just amazing really. In the midst of everything she had set a first aid kit down in front of him and revealed its contents. Inside was an array of medical supplies in which Kaen had little to no experience with. This along with his affixation on his thoughts about her while she explained the process caused him to be very unsure of what she had said exactly... Something about rubbing alcohol and sterilizing the wound? Seemed simple enough, strange that this clear liquid would help. kinda looked like water... Kaen would remove the cap and take a whiff, "Oh god... definitely not water!" Kaen made a scrunched up face as the pungent aromas invaded his nostrils. Without a second thought Kaen would pour a sizable amount of the clear liquid into his open wound.

Kaen's eyes immediately widened in shock. He instantly knew he had made a crucial mistake, he had been so careless in listening to Kasen's instructions... Mistakes have been made like non other before them. He would remain calm, still and quiet for a few moments in a great struggle to contain the excruciating pain that was the fire set upon his arm. Then all at once, he come unglued. "OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!! What is this poison?!? Oh my god Kasen, it burns... why does it burn?!?! Aaaaahhhhhh!" By now he had removed himself from his chair and was frantically pacing back and forth in the kitchen trying to think of anything to make it stop. But it just kept burning, and burning... Kaen's body violently reacted to the pain and a small aura of flames began to arise from his body. Almost immediately the alcohol that was still upon his slashed arm lit up in a flaming inferno of pain and misery. Kaen fell to his knees with his arm held up in pain, "Whyyyyyy!?!?"

[OOC MFT Total WC:1,138]

Do you ever get that feeling that before something bad happens something in your body just tells you it's a bad idea? And then you don't listen to it and things hit the fan real fast? Kasen had that feeling the second she released the supplies to Kaen. Every part of her said no, I mean for goodness sake for being so good with fire she was the one that had to do a majority of the cooking. So of course when he started to take the things and inspect them all she could do was watch and wait. She felt herself nibbling slightly on her lip until a very small taste of iron hit her and she realized she was practically chewing on it. Not good for someone with her special dentistry. She almost laughed when he said that it wasn't water. Of course it wasn't water, that's not the best source of sanitation. He dumped way too much on than he should have. Well, it's a learning experience.

After a minute the freak out that was imminent completely blew out of proportion. Kasen winced at the display. "Uh...Onii-chan...you're uh...you shouldn't have...uh...nevermind." Kasen continued to stare as he started pacing quickly, her arms to her side, a blank expression on her face, eyes just following his movements. Suddenly his arm became encased in flames. Kasen jumped back, staring still. He let out a loud wail as he fell to his knees on the floor, his arm just burning. Kasen tilted her head and sighed. She crossed her arms and waited and waited and waited. "No? Just going to let it keep burning? We have a sink...with water....over there....it's right there....any day now...can you suffer third degree burns...that'd be a fun study...you sure you want to learn medical things?" Kasen started to tap her foot. In her head she imagined Kaen as a strange creature, flames encasing his body a look on his face saying "Why have you forsaken me". Kasen gave a chuckle, letting her fantasy get away with her before she realized her brother was still writhing on the floor. "Oh, right." With a flick of her wrist, Kasen sent a large spray of water at her brother, which would thoroughly drench him. Then she returned to the medical kit, putting all the things back and knelt beside her brother. She gently encased his arm with her hands and was about to heal him but stopped. It looked like some skin had suffered some burns but the cut became cauterized as a result. Interesting. There was still probably a stinging pain he would experience. Kasen stood up and put her hands on her hips, an angry pout on her face. "Pfft, no, you wanna learn you fix it. Watch me closely." Kasen made a series of hand gestures slowly and then her hands started to give off a slight glow of her chakra before it dissipated. "Now you do it. Kay?" She would wait patiently. He couldn't mess this up, right? Please no, this was a nice kitchen, she would hate to see that go up in flames. She cringed at the thought. Well, here goes.

"No? Just going to let it keep burning? We have a sink...with water....over there....it's right there....any day now...can you suffer third degree burns...that'd be a fun study...you sure you want to learn medical things?" It was true, water was merely feet away from his grasp, yet he remained petrified in pain and chaos as the flames overwhelmed his senses. For someone that supposedly held mastery of the element of fire, Kaen sure was acting like a little girl about this chemical fire. Kasen was obviously not taking well to any of this, her arms crossed, her feet tapping wildly. He really must have looked the fool in this moment, so helplessly hopeless, writhing around like a lunatic over something that should have never been an issue to begin with. Sometimes though, the first step to forgiveness is realizing the other person is just an idiot. While out on the battlefield, he was analytical, concise and responsible, it seemed he was a ball of dork within the private confines of his home... In front of his little sister... oh god, hopefully she would forgive him.

A faint chuckle could be heard over the snap-crackle-pop of his skin beginning to burn, he could only imagine what fiendish thoughts had run through her mind... "Oh, right." A brief moment later and she would flick her wrist and release a geyser of water over him, saturating him to his very core, dousing the flames completely. A literal calm down and chill out if you would, his clothes, hair and both were soaked. But he cared not, it felt sooo good to have been released from the torment that was that evil substance that looked like water. The dramatization was completely uncalled for in all of this, but hey... This is what it's like behind the scenes at the Shinku house. Nobody to judge or frown upon their silly happenstances. Kaen would let out a -louder than necessary- sigh of relieve as he bathed in the heavenly waters that flowed from Kasen's hands.

A moment later, Kasen retrieved the contents of the medical kit she had brought out previously and stored them away, she probably realized he was much too dense to handle such complicated and sophisticated instruments... His arm throbbed with pain, the residual stinging from both the rubbing alcohol and the cauterization of the open flame that had encased his arm. At first glance it appeared she was about to heal him, but stopped short of completion. Kasen stood up and put her hands on her hips, an angry pout on her face. It was pretty cute however, she always got so worked up over Kaen's idiotic behaviors. "Pfft, no, you wanna learn you fix it. Watch me closely." Kasen made a series of hand gestures slowly and then her hands started to give off a slight glow of her chakra before it dissipated. "Now you do it. Kay?" Um... Kaen hesitated briefly, what signs did she just use? At first glance it almost seemed less about the hand seals and more of some sort of internal manipulation of chakra. So weird... how could anyone learn such a complicated feat? I guess he would give it a go, what's the worst that could happen.

Kaen would pick himself up, pushing through the cringing pain from his annihilated arm. Alright, let's see here... Ram-Horse-Serpent-Dragon Wait... was it dragon or boar.... oh SHIT! At first a light hue of glowing green would begin to form, until he finished the last seal, tapping into the wrong sort of chakra. The end result... well he needed to get outside fast, Kasen might just kill him after all. A humming buildup could be heard emanating from his open palm, nothing was quite as disastrous as an unkempt jutsu of unknown composition. Kaen fled to the door with a look of pure horror struct across his face. Truth be told he wasn't really worried about hurting himself, it was Kasen's kitchen, or the rest of the house for that matter he didn't want to ruin, lest he suffer the wrath of Kasen...

Throwing open the door, nearly tossing it off the hinges, Kaen thrust his palm skyward and let loose the maelstrom. A single projectile spring forth from his palm, climbing higher and higher. Soon the light would fade from eyesight, but not before exploding into a shower of sparks and variant colors. Great, he knows how to do firework jutsu... Most definitely not gonna heal his arm with that... He nervously chuckled and scratched the back of his head as he turned to find Kasen standing right there with her arms crossed, foot tapping and a brow raised... Heh, mind showing me those hand signs once more, I'm not sure I got it right the first time... Kasen really was a saint, putting up with Kaen's surprisingly ineptitude to grasp simple medical jutsu.

Waiting felt like centuries when you weren't sure of the outcome of the next few minutes. Kasen remained with her arms crossed, just waiting for her brother to do the most simplistic medical jutsu their was. It was just a basic healing one! Kasen saw him struggling to repeat her hand gestures despite her having gone slowly. There was an eye roll shortly there after but she did it so off handedly it almost went unnoticed by herself, so it was highly unlikely that Kaen saw it. The younger sibling started at her brother and a small smile came to her when she saw the faint green glow forming around his hand. It fell into a frown and an almost panicked look when Kaen took off running toward the door. "What in the..." She followed after him, although all she had heard was the door being flung open and a bang. Kasen looked outside, her eyes narrowing at the display of lights just now fading and at her brother who seemed to be trying to act like this was a casual every day thing. I mean...she couldn't say that it wasn't necessarily, but it's not everyday you decide to learn a trade that's meant to save lives and you shoot off a jutsu that would blow them up. Kasen facepalmed when Kaen asked to be shown again.

Walking back into the kitchen, Kasen pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a breath before splaying her fingers our and slowly lowering her hands to hide her mild frustrations. It wasn't his fault, not everybody could pick this up so easily. Alright, maybe he just couldn't learn that jutsu and maybe he needed a little bit more motivation. Kasen smirked. Oh the devious little red head certainly could not be faulted for a lack of creativity. Kasen's expression would come off as one of feigned innocence, but lurking behind those eyes was a notable sparkle of mischief. "I'm going to show you a different one. But one moment." Kasen came over, and quickly healed her brothers arm. Considering he probably be confused she held up a finger indicating he should wait a moment. "Alright, now that I have that issue solved, I'm going to show you another one, okay? I'll go through these motions twice, it is crucial you watch me okay?" She would wait for Kaen to give a signal that he understood. Once he did, she would go through 3 simple gestures, making sure he mimicked them in time with her. She did this twice. Once that was done, Kasen gave a genuine smile. "Well, here goes nothing." In the blink of an eye, Kasen focused all her strength into her hands, which had been flattened and smashed them both into their counter. A loud series of crunches and snaps would be heard as well as a cry of pain from Kasen.

The girl winced in pain, her fingers bending out at all sorts of angles that they definitely should have been. She couldn't use her hands at all as the damage was taken in both. So if Kaen couldn't fix them, she would need to take a trip to the hospital. No amount of natural degeneration was going to fix this, not without some extra TLC or someone setting the bones for her. Kasen held her hands up and showed Kaen. She tried to smile but there was a notable cringe of pain written there all the same. She tried to be encouraging. "A-Alright, j-just do what I s-showed you, and this'll be fine. O-okay? C-Concentrate and put a-a lot of e-energy into it." Kasen said a small prayer inside her head to whatever higher being might hear her. Please let him have retained this at least.<i></i> She had shown him the jutsu that would effectively set bones back to before they were even broken, refortify them. It took a little more chakra than the basics, but he should be able to learn it all the same. These weren't complicated. She could rely on her brother. She could! Maybe?

It was painfully obvious how much Kasen was disliking this whole idea in its entirety. Kaen's idiocy, failure to pay attention to key details and an overall lack of basic understanding of conceptual medical ninjutsu. Granted not just anyone would be readily capable of Med Nin, but someone who seemed to have a masterful grasp on the jutsu he knew, surely someone like that could have little to no issue performing such basic med nin. Alas Kaen, despite his many skills, just wasn't readily capable of producing successful med nin. Kasen decided to show him a different one, as if changing the technique would allow him to grasp an already difficult concept... "I'm going to show you a different one. But one moment." She then came over and healed his arm to perfection. Taking a moment to stretch it out and rub the area that was originally cut and burned, he felt much better. "Alright, now that I have that issue solved, I'm going to show you another one, okay? I'll go through these motions twice, it is crucial you watch me okay?" Shaking his head and his hands out, he prepared himself to pay EXTRA special attention. "Ok, I'm ready!" Kaen stared intently at her hand signs, slow and steady she produced three separate hand signs that were relatively simple, in concept. He followed her along with the signs, it looked almost as if a mother was teaching her child the itsy bitsy spider song. While normally this would be humiliating, it was just Kasen. She had already been through so much along side of him that he just had no shame around her anymore. He could do anything and everything and feel totally in his element around her.

Then, as if giving her seal of approval, Kasen smiled and would surprise him beyond anything expected from her. "Well, here goes nothing." She let out a cry of pain as she annihilated her hands atop the counter tops. Kaen was immediately mortified and his expression was even more extreme. "OH MY GOD KASEN!!! What, why... why would you do that?!?!" At this point Kaen was historical, pacing back and forth literally having a meltdown over this. I mean, she smashed her hands to bits! Fingers were pointing every which way, the pain had to have been excruciating. "A-Alright, j-just do what I s-showed you, and this'll be fine. O-okay? C-Concentrate and put a-a lot of e-energy into it." This presented Kaen with an overwhelming opportunity. Either fail and leave his sister in pain and crippled or succeed and not let her down. Kaen paced back and forth relentlessly, nearly wearing a hole in the kitchen floor. Clearly he was stressed. OK, you can do this! It's just three signs, simple, easy... DAMNIT Kaen, get your shit together or else she's gonna be out of a job and it's all going to be your fault. So just buck up and do it, just DO IT! Deep in thought he finally snapped to. He couldn't stand for this, that sneaky sister of his was too smart for her own good, playing on his weakness like this... She KNEW that if she put herself in danger that he would have to get serious about it. "OK, I got this..."

Kaen would mimic the signs slowly once more before walking cautiously over to Kasen's mangled hands. It was do or dye time, he needed to get it right. He formed the seals and a leisurely pace, while correct in form and sequence, it just was too slow and the green glow quickly faded. Kaen stepped back a moment to compose himself, obviously freaking out about the entire situation. Clapping his hands together, he got back in there and tried again. The second attempt was a little bit better, the speed was quicker but his chakra control just wasn't cutting it. The glow quickly overcharged and sparked out. UGH, too little, too much, this shit is so much more complicated than regular jutsu... I will never doubt Kasen's skills ever again... OK, third times a charm right? Kaen rubbed his hands together furiously to the point waves of heat could be seen emanating from his palms. This time around he aced it! The signs were on point and his chakra control was... well it wasn't perfect, but it want too much or too little. The faint glow washed over her hands and the light -snap crackle pop- of her bones and joints re-configuring could be heard. After the process was complete, Kaen would collapse onto the ground with relief, he did it and her hands were safe. The look of relief quickly turned to distaste and concern. "What the hell was that about, you cant just go bashing yourself up just to prove a point... you scared the hell out of me... you.... ugh... You can't do stuff like that to me Kas" His frustration quickly faded mid sentence, he could never stay mad at her, besides, it was a pretty good plan. "Well... I will admit, that is much more difficult than it looks, with practice I think I could do more, but I think I've had my limit for one day. Thank you again for helping me out with this... Kaen would ruffle her hair a bit before tidying up the mess he made in the kitchen. Today sure had an interesting start...

Kasen was glad that she didn't have to wait very long for her brother to really focus on what he was doing. The pain really wasn't something that she found enjoyable to deal with in the slightest and she really didn't want to deal with having to go all the way to the hospital just to tell them that she broke her fingers on purpose trying to show her brother how to do basic forms of medical jutsu. As Kaen managed to call forth the healing flow, she felt a smile tug at her lips. "Yes! That's it!"</COLOR><i></i> She hoped she hadn't spoke too soon. Luckily she had not! Soon after she felt the bones pop back into place and alignot themselves. She gave a happy hum of relief and flexed her fingers. "Not bad for a first go at it! I'm a little surprised. Good job Onii-chan!"<i></i> She chuckled a bit at his outbursts, scolding her for her drastic measures. She grinned sheepishly and scratched the tip of her nose with one finger, a small blush on her face as she looked to the side in embarassment. "Ah, geez, I had faith in you. You wouldn't leave me mangled like that, you never would. I won't do it again though. I promise. Let's just leave the medical things to me though. Good job for today! I have total confidence you could patch me up should the occasion present itself!"<i></i> With that Kasen did another quick jutsu on her hands, just to further cement her bones back in place for anything that was missed. Suddenly she remembered something she needed to do. She turned back to Kaen. <COLOR color="#8F3541">"Oh, I need to go out into the desert to get some herbs. Do you think you can come with me?" She left to allow him some time to decide, sure that he would agree. She smiled and went to collect her collections bag. Today felt like a success.
