Messenger Doggo [Delivering message to Yomi]

It was so much different than Leaf! Hayate was happy to see the many mountains. Less tress to mark but still fun to run up and then down! He may have ran too fast down hhill and fell but he didn't hurt himself. Apparently running downhill was more difficult than he realized.

But soon enough he was at the entrance to this clouds place. Yes he was. He would bark a few times to get someone's attention. When approached he would wag his tail. On his collar was a tightly sealed envelope and one the other was a small passport with Yuu Kenshin' signature and a paw print of Hayate inside.


"Hi there. I am on first mission. Very much excite. I am to deliver this letter to one Yomi of clouds yes? I wait here."

He would sit down and without thinking about it, the tip of his tongue stuck out. He would wait until this Yomi of clouds appeared. Cannot mess up this mission. Hopefully get treats from Leaf gate guard again, this Yomi, and maybe even Kenshin! So many treats. His tailed wagged a little harder.

Allowing himself to take a double take, the first impression was undoubtedly the one least expected. First there was Maru acting like . . . Maru, then there was a woman with her kiddos . . . and now there was a doggo?!? Musashi was starting to be very vexed by all of these "Leafers" making his job complicated. Every time one of them showed up at the gates, he got in trouble, and he was forced further and further down the promotion chain. It would be nice to be a respected ANBU Captain but at this rate, he was going to be a grunt AiT for the rest of his days. Same stuff, different day, he looked at the canine and took a moment to admire its coat, much wow, before he was allowed to slip past the gates to confront the best boy.

It occurred to him only halfway down the path to the perfect pupper that said doge might actually be an Inuzuka stuck in their final form but then he allowed his mind to wander about the fact if Inuzuka "nintendogs" actually could form human speech. Unfortunately he didn't have any "snaccs" so this would be a somber event. Dressed in traditional non identifying ANBU gear, he held up his hands in the universal sign of peace as he approached. Looking at the passport, he gave a good scratch behind the four legged friends ear and looked at the scroll that was apparently due for Yomi. Was it a crime if he read her mail? They were married after all. Then again It was probably best that he didn't, she had a mean right hook. Raising a hand to click a small button just behind the mask that he wore, he used morse code to signal that Yamamoto Rei had mail that was due to her . . . and that she'd better bring some treats for this brave traveler.

[Yomi]

It was out of habit that Yomi kept her headset nearby, but she never thought someone would be calling her on it. Of course she assumed it was her husband because who else would it be? Correct as she may have been the woman was not expecting his message.

Truth be told the med chief thought he was calling out of boredom and wanted to hear her voice. Although that would have been a very interesting, demotion granting type of conversation she was never that lucky. Nope, Umashi was letting her know that she had a message to be picked up. Now, only a handful of people knew to be writing her here, but, what could it be about? Was something the matter? No one ever writes with good news. Pulling on her cloak she left from her house ensuring that she packed the requested snacks.

Upon arrival Yomi had greeted her husband with a wave of the hand and a small smile. She didn't say anything directly to him though, as he wanted to keep the ruse going and she was very whatever about it, so long as he was happy. Looking down at the very good doggo Yomi grinned. He was so handsome! She pulled out the treats from beneath her cloak and presented them to him.

"Hello there." Yomi said in the kind of voice that was foreign to her and that one could only summon when presented with a good a dog as the one before her.

"I hear you have a letter for me?" Again, with the voice. It was syrupy sweet and Yomi couldn't even believe it was coming out of her mouth. Who even was she? Reaching down to pet him, she hoped he didn't mind her gentle pats.

First a man appraoched but he was nice. Very nice. Not Yomi. Then someone else came up. It was Yomi! She had treats. Both were important things. And he got pets and scritches!

He was in a doggy heaven.

"Yes you are Yomi of the clouds? My big Alpha Kenshin sent this to you. You take and read. I can send back message if you want. If not, I can go running and chase butterfl... I mean go back to Leaf. Yes I can do this." he would take the scroll and put it into her hand, his tail wagging merrily.

Mission compete! First mission success! More treats for him!

Yomi,

I hope you are doing well as well are your children. The same goes for Umashi. The Hokage mansion is not the same. Being main branch sennin is the same as always. Lots of ups and downs.

As I am writing this I must admit I am in the hospital. I was attacked and betrayed by some former leaf shinobi. I survived, just barely. You know I hate the hospital but it has me thinking of simpler times. I honestly say I miss you. You were a good Hokage. I like Takeshi but he can be harsh. There have been deaths of more rouge students. I am trying my best to save them but saving someone from themselves is hard.

After I recover, I am going to go on a dangerous mission. I won't say anymore if this letter was intercepted but I hope to survive this mission. I hope to see you and Umashi again sometime.

[Yomi]

Smiling as she took the letter from the dog, she did not take the time to read it there. Knowing she would respond, no matter its contents, Yomi would wait until she was at home to properly digest it and craft a letter of her own.

Looking down at the very good messenger she tucked it under her cloak before reaching down to provide more pats and treats.

"Thank you very much for the letter. Please tell Kenshin that I miss him and to expect a reply soon. Get home safely!"

The contents of the letter would determine the expediency in which she would reply. Depending if it was something crazy, it might even require her to visit Konoha. Umashi probably wouldn't like that though and she could practically hear his objections as she thought about.

The Medical Chief turned and gave the Anbu a quick smile before heading back home eager to find out what was written inside.

Strange . . . strange indeed. Nodding his head to the lady, Musashi made sure that the canine was cleared for safe passage and then he went back to his perch. A simple job for a man who simply wanted to do his job. If he could garner enough easy days like this, then perhaps it wouldn't be so bad in the future. Easy money for easy work, the life for a recent retiree. Oddly enough though, Musashi was sure that Kenshin was more into other animal familiars. He'd never struck him as the dog loving sort. Perhaps that was the point though, Kenshin was mixing it up in order to keep from growing old in his battle prowess. One could respect that, a man working on his craft. Allowing himself to get comfortable, he hummed a tune to himself to continue to pass the time. In the back of his mind he wondered if Yomi would eventually tell him what the letter said. If not, then he'd just have to beat up the next random dude who figured that it was a smart idea to directly message his wife.

Hayate was very happy. He had succeed! They both left him there which was fine. He was itchy anyways. So he itched himself and panted. He watched them go making sure to remember the message.

It was time to report to biggest alpha. Then he would report to smaller alpha. He hoped that leaf guard was still there. He would get more treats! But he would take his time to get back he was ready to run a little wild!

He would turn from the gates and take off his little feet going as fast as he could. He barked to no one as he ran outside enjoying the sound of his voice.
