The eight year old Shouyu was in the village today, speaking with a rather upset family. Today was not a good day for them, losing their puppy on their usual day to day walk. The kids seemed really distraught and didn’t want to be outside at all. The youngest one was about to bust up into tears before Shouyu reassured him with a smile, pat on the back and a high five. The grandmother explained the last seen location, description and favorite marking spots of the dog. With these few clues, Shouyu would be able to begin a search and hopefully find the dog.
Walking through the town in the area where the dog was last seen, Shouyu didn’t really find much. He searched, a hand over his forehead to block the beating afternoon sun from glaring his view. The village today was just filled with other citizens playing, pretending be ninja and also a good game of hide and seek. Everyone seemed to be very friendly and knew each other, so the young ninja began to ask around if anyone had seen a dog fitting the description he was given. But he found no further trails to look for.
He continued down alleyways the dog would usually mark or use the bathroom at. Shouyu knew that dogs would leave their scent in places so that the dog would know its own way around to places it has been before. In this way, a dog could find its way home easily. So he pondered if maybe he should walk their daily walking routine and see if he can find more clues along that pathway. He needed more leads if he was going to find this dog because alley after alley, he still came up empty with a sigh.
So again he started walking from the families’ house all around their usual walk. Along the way he would ask many villagers if they had seen the dog, but again they would shrug with a sigh and he’d be forced to move along with his search. The dog couldn’t have gotten far, and plus it must be hungry by now being just a pup. He scratched his chin, eyes closed tightly and he became a bit frustrated and stomped his foot. Now continuing the pathway he could see a group of several dogs playing, some even enjoying snacks from elder lady who was feeding them.
It was among these group of dogs that Shouyu spotted a young one that looked like that missing pup. He ran up to the elder lady, greeting her and asking how long she had been feeding these dogs. She said all day, she had been outside parlaying with the canines enjoying stories and food. It made Shouyu laugh on the inside, but he outwardly expressed only a smile and explained his situation. The lady gave him a treat that he used to lure the pup into his arms successfully. Traveling back to the house hold was easy and he was there rather swiftly returning the pup to his family. They were all ecstatic now, the kids jittery and ready to play. Shouyu gave a thumbs up and was off!
