Danii looks up when Maikeru gives her a pat. His confidence in her reassured her that she could do this. Danii looked down more determined this time. She takes a deep breath and places her hand just above the center of the puddle. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes as she tries to center herself. Listening to the water drops around her, she gathers her chakra and pushes down on the water with it. The water ripples out this time, but with a bit too much force. The ripple speeds off and overflows at the edge of the puddle. With his fancy eyes, Maikeru would notice that when she pushes out with her chakra, Danii pushes down ever so slightly with her hand. For someone with fine chakra, it wouldn't really affect much, but, while Danii can gather her chakra fairly easily, she releases it all at once as opposed to in a steady flow.

“Come on, you got this. Remember what he said. Control over raw strength.”

Danii mutters to herself as she recognizes the improvement of this attempt, but also that she could do better. As she thinks about his words, she remembers the advice she once received about her kenjutsu in an informative class she took in the academy. Momentum was nice, but she needed to work on muscle control. Maybe she could treat the water chakra she gathered like a part of her muscle group. And one thing she learned about during her studies was how the better it was to use a group of muscles instead of a single one when working on a task.

“Ok, I think I can do it this time.”

She takes a deep breath and gathers her chakra again. This time when she pushes down with the chakra, she purposefully pushes down with her hand and uses her finely trained muscles to guide the chakra with movement and when she feels like she has pushed enough chakra into the the water, she pulls some back while ligting her hand away from the water. The ripple flows out smoothly with a secondary, opposite wave following behind it from the pull away. The waves meet right at the edge of the puddle and briefly negate each other before reflecting off the ground and heading back to the center of the puddle.

“I know it wasn't exactly how you wanted me to do it, but…”

She looks up at Maikeru to see what he thought about her work.

Danii waited her turn and went last. She walks over to Ryujou’s boat. She places the empty hive and a small jar of honey from its previous tenants in the boat. The bees had long since been left with a member of Ryujou's Aburame family as none of these threw knew how to take care of them. She also placed a small package cloth sack in the boat. She paid her last respects to her other two friends and left a little bag in each of them. As the boats drifted out to sea, she aided Maikeru in lighting them with a fire jutsu of her own. While not her strongest style, Danii had enough skill in it for this task. Releasing the Dragon Fire flamethrower over the boats, the fire begins to spread before being engulfed in the hotter, black flames of Amaretsu. It was small, but it was her contribution to the funeral. Or, at least, part of her contribution. She watches as the fires burn and Reicheru sings a beautiful song. Danii reaches out and holds Maikeru's hand as she watches the black flames leap about the boats. As the song finishes and the fires begin to die down, it wouldn't be long before the boats sank. The final snapshot that she had taken from Katsu played quickly through her mind's eye. The sword on her back seemed to absorb and radiate the heat from even this far, while the cool gem seemed to be collecting condensation with a few drops falling on her. Or maybe those were just her imagination, but her mind was elsewhere.

Dropping Maikeru's hand, Danii took a small step forward and turned towards Mrs. Naikiri. The older lady gives a small nod and Danii turns back towards the boat. She had explained her plan to Katsu's mother this morning before anyone had awoke. She had explained the boys’ more rambunctious side, and her belief that they would enjoy a little something untraditional in their send off. Acknowledging the nod as the final permission, Danii made a hand seal and spoke.

“They may have died without a fight, their final rebellion in its own right, but they would never forgive us if we sent them off without a final bang.”

Danii releases the seal and activates the contraband explosive tags she had found in the treehouse shortly after the incident those years ago. With a loud bang, they rip open the bags and ignite the fireworks inside. Those had cost her almost half the money she had brought with her, even with the discount she got for them being leftover from a festival earlier in the year. She saved the funeral light show in her mind. She watched as the ships finally sank amidst the color filled sky before turning back towards the others with a big, stupid grin and tear filled eyes.

“Thank you for your hospitality, Mrs. Naikiri. I'm sorry for interrupted the funeral traditions, but I think they would have liked to go out like that. They always liked drawing attention to themselves, especially Riku.”

She gave the lady a bow and headed off with the others.

Danii was cleaning her blade as the trio sat around the fire. The sword remained sealed in a scroll throughout most of the day while they travelled and didn't require much maintenance today, but the exercise was a calming one for her, so she went through the motions anyways. Since the edge was fine, Danii used a cloth to polish the dark steel of the blade and made sure the leather harness was properly oiled and cleaned. She even put extra detail into ensuring that any dust was removed from the skull and bones of guard. As she wrapped up her task at hand, she looked up and watched the fire crackle and fight against the weather trying to extinguish it. When Reicheru suggested a spar, she hopped up and sheathed the sword on her back.

“I think you're right. He's knows he couldn't take us both on at the same time like he did back then. We've grown too strong for him.”

Danii flexes her arm as if showing off her muscles as a grin spread across her face. She watched in anticipation as Maikeru took the bait. She really wasn't sure if the two could take on Maikeru or not, but she wasn't going to let him know that. Her hand twitched ready to draw her sword.

“Will you be able to patch yourself up once we kick your butt?”

She knew she could outdraw him, but she wasn't sure if that would be the best move. Instead she watched as he reached for his own sword and began making hand seals. As few seconds after he drew and smothered the fire, Danii finished her seals and held out her hands. Chakra coalesced create two lantern shaped orbs. One floated up and began orbiting her head. The other floated over to Reicheru. Both gave off an eerie glow around the two. The jutsu barely gave off enough light for the two to see each other, but Danii had learned this specifically to help her in her spars with Maikeru and his kind. She held her hand over the hilt of her blade as she surveyed the battlefield in anticipation of her next action.

“This should help us a little bit with his trickery.”

Danii was cleaning her blade as the trio sat around the fire. The sword remained sealed in a scroll throughout most of the day while they travelled and didn't require much maintenance today, but the exercise was a calming one for her, so she went through the motions anyways. Since the edge was fine, Danii used a cloth to polish the dark steel of the blade and made sure the leather harness was properly oiled and cleaned. She even put extra detail into ensuring that any dust was removed from the skull and bones of guard. As she wrapped up her task at hand, she looked up and watched the fire crackle and fight against the weather trying to extinguish it. When Reicheru suggested a spar, she hopped up and sheathed the sword on her back.

“I think you're right. He's knows he couldn't take us both on at the same time like he did back then. We've grown too strong for him.”

Danii flexes her arm as if showing off her muscles as a grin spread across her face. She watched in anticipation as Maikeru took the bait. She really wasn't sure if the two could take on Maikeru or not, but she wasn't going to let him know that. Her hand twitched ready to draw her sword.

“Will you be able to patch yourself up once we kick your butt?”

She knew she could outdraw him, but she wasn't sure if that would be the best move. Instead she watched as he reached for his own sword and began making hand seals. As few seconds after he drew and smothered the fire, Danii finished her seals and held out her hands. Chakra coalesced create two lantern shaped orbs. One floated up and began orbiting her head. The other floated over to Reicheru. Both gave off an eerie glow around the two. The jutsu barely gave off enough light for the two to see each other, but Danii had learned this specifically to help her in her spars with Maikeru and his kind. She held her hand over the hilt of her blade as she surveyed the battlefield in anticipation of her next action.

“This should help us a little bit with his trickery.”

The spirit in her blade seems to sense the one in Maikeru's blade and senses the misalignment of ideals. It commands Danii destroy it and it's wielder. In her trance like state, Danii releases the primal drive in a scream and another attack that slams into the sword again. She recoils as the sword is again blocked. Danii sheathes the sword, but doesn't take her hand of the hilt as her reddish eyes scan for an opening. As Maikeru turns to counter another Reicheru's lightning attack, Danii braces and jumps forward drawing her sword in a flash and trying to time her attack with Reicheru. She seemed to move without her normal clumsiness as the sword guided her movements again. Aimed directly at Maikeru's back, the force of the strike could have been devastating if not for for the invisible wall the sword struck as the other Nanjirou girl appeared beside her. Danii's eyes remain locked on her target as she continuously strikes out with her sword against the invisible force. She seems incapable of recognizing what was going on.

With each strike the sword pulls a bit of Danii's life force into itself to fuel the attacks. Over and over again, until the sword strikes and doesn't pull back. The sword itself seems to grow dull as Danii's eyes revert to their brown color. The eyes look normal again except they still seem to lack awareness. She holds herself up for a few mere seconds before she begins to fall forward. Between the mind damage and feeding her sword, Danii's strength appears to have faded along with her consciousness.

Danii waits patiently for the interaction to finish at the register and steps up to make her purchase. She thanks the smith, who looks confused at why someone would buy such a gaudy bracelet, but smiles and counts the few bucks he made from it. He seems happy to have made the sell of the item he was getting ready to scrap. Danii slides the large bracelet onto her arm and tightens it as she walks over to join her friend. The metal feels unusually war as it rests against her skin. The other bracelet seems to grow colder as if reacting to it and confirms her thoughts on the jewelry weapon.

“I'll show you what it does later. The guy didn't even know what he had.”

She softly informs Rei about her purchase. The bracelt looks similar to the one she wears on her right arm except it appears to be a bronze serpentine skull instead of a golden draconic head. Noticing the stranger talking to Rei, Danii turns to the young cloud kunoichi and introduces herself. Hearing the unusual name coming out of Rei's mouth, Danii remembers that they are supposed to be using their new names in public now.

“Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Reisestsu's cousin. Nanjirou… Umiko!”

She narrowly avoids using her real name as it tries to naturally roll off her tongue. She quickly corrects herself and hopes no one noticed. She quickly moves the conversation forward by asking some questions.

“So, did you find anything cool? Most of what I saw was meh. But then again, I was spoiled by my grandfather's works and my father's blade. There were definitely some good beginner blades though. Is that what you came here for, Yuzu?”

Danii pats the hilt of the sword on her back as she mentions her father's sword and turns to Yuzu with a curious grin on her face. She couldn't help but wonder what brought the younger girl to a place like this.

He seems happy to have made the sell of the item he was getting ready to scrap. Danii slides the large bracelet onto her arm and tightens it as she walks over to join her friend. The metal feels unusually war as it rests against her skin. The other bracelet seems to grow colder as if reacting to it and confirms her thoughts on the jewelry weapon.

“I'll show you what it does later. The guy didn't even know what he had.”

She softly informs Rei about her purchase. The bracelt looks similar to the one she wears on her right arm except it appears to be a bronze serpentine skull instead of a golden draconic head. Noticing the stranger talking to Rei, Danii turns to the young cloud kunoichi and introduces herself. Hearing the unusual name coming out of Rei's mouth, Danii remembers that they are supposed to be using their new names in public now.

“Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Reisestsu's cousin. Nanjirou… Umiko!”

She narrowly avoids using her real name as it tries to naturally roll off her tongue. She quickly corrects herself and hopes no one noticed. She quickly moves the conversation forward by asking some questions.

“So, did you find anything cool? Most of what I saw was meh. But then again, I was spoiled by my grandfather's works and my father's blade. There were definitely some good beginner blades though. Is that what you came here for, Yuzu?”

Danii pats the hilt of the sword on her back as she mentions her father's sword and turns to Yuzu with a curious grin on her face. She couldn't help but wonder what brought the younger girl to a place like this.

She finally finds what she was looking for under the pillow of her bed as she pulls out a purple hoodie. She throws the hoodie on and zips it up. She had made sure to expand her wardrobe a bit with warmer clothes. She reaches for the harness holding her sword, and hesitates for a moment, before grabbing it, slinging it over her shoulder, and walking out. Ever since the sparring incident, the soul within her blade frightened her a bit. It seemed to offer strength she hadn't felt before, but she still wondered about the cost of using that strength. Still, the comfort of carrying the blade in the open outweighed the fear of wielding it. She just needed to train harder to make sure she could control it instead of being controlled. She mutters a promise to herself.

“I can't lose control again.”

As the door shuts behind her, Danii swings the sword over her shoulder and tightens the straps of the harness.She needed to find Maikeru. As a medic, he could help her train to be more precise with her attacks and have more control over her body. As a genjutsu user, he could help her with control over her mind. Well, as long as he doesn't try that dirty Tsukuyomi trick again.

“Now, if I was Maikeru, where would I be?”

Danii walked down the streets of the new and unfamiliar town. Good thing she was leaving early in the morning, because it will probably take her most of the day just to find Maikeru.

Danii watched in surprise as Maikeru knelt before the Raikage, but she didn't show it. Maikeru always seemed to be one of the flashier ones in the group. And he definitely seemed to know how to make himself appear humble when need be. Danii watches how the Kumonin react to his pledge. The woman they met at the gate caught her off guard with her offer to watch over and train them. She was surprised that someone would put themself out there for the sake of some strangers, but admired her for her sympathy. It was odd, and slightly comforting, to hear the woman make her offer. But that feeling was only fleeting, as the ANBU opened his mouth. She wondered if there was something about the ANBU branch that attracted those without tact or diplomacy. His thinly veiled threats reminded her of their treatment back in the Leaf. Before she could even open her mouth to speak out against it, the Raikage spoke and eased her mind. She could only pray that people like him were rare here as she listened to the Raikage offer them temporary citizenship. At the very least, she hoped that the leadership here would not allow him into a spot that required a bit more charisma and interactions with foreigners, such as any role that followed the kage around. The last two seemed to remain quiet and hard to read, what Danii would expect from people who deal with delicate situations like theirs on a regular basis. She hoped to learn more of that aspect from them at some point.

Danii's eyes grew wide as the Raikage made his offer to the three. She wasn't expecting such a generous offer and knew she had to take advantage of it. She had to prove that it wasn't a mistake. She did grow a bit embarrassed as her friends told their rank and occupations though. Unlike them, she was only a genin and had not provem herself on the battlefield. And unlike Maikeru, she was not mentored by anyone outside of this group. Despite her faltering self confidence, Maikeru's smile calms her down. She knew that they would be getting the fresh start they had hoped for. She waited her turn and then began speaking.

“I was only a genin of the main branch when we left the Leaf, but I have been trained in both the sword and manners of the Samurai by my grandfather since I could barely walk. As a student, I was recruited to a group of swordsmen with these two and another in hopes of perfecting our technique. I must admit that I come mostly as a blank slate though with hopes to serve to the best of my abilities as you all see fit”

Danii ends her spiel with what she hopes is a bit of humility as she bows her head in respect to the Raikage.

Danii was lost in thought when a shadow crept over her. At first she didn't think anything about it as clouds were common here in this hidden village. She only hoped that it didn't mean another storm was passing through. It wasn't until a voice spoke up, that she looked up and noticed the Sunaku floating above her. It reminded her of one of her childhood friends from back home and she wondered briefly whatever happened to her. They had seemed to have lost touch after their academy days. Danii smiled at the girl and answered her.

“Well… ummm… he's a friend of mine that I was looking for. I'm new to the village and still don't know my way around yet. That's an interesting technique by the way. I had a friend who could do that, but I never saw her fly on her sand like you. I'm Nanjirou Umiko, by the way. Nice to meet you Ninura.”

Danii gives the girl a polite bow and watches as the cloud of sand begins descending.

“And thanks for the offer, I'm sure getting a view from above would be really helpful!”

Danii made her way over to the desert nimbus and was about to climb on when she heard a familiar voice behind her. She flinches at her name being called out and turns to see Maikeru walking up.

“There you are Akira. I was looking for Maikeru, but you will do."

She looks over to Ninura and then back at Maikeru.

“I'm not replacing my best friend yet. I would never do that to Reisetsu. But I am trying to make new friends here. This is Sunaku Ninura and she offered to help me find one of you two.”

The young Nanjirou gives the Uchiha a teasing smile and then sticks her tongue out at him. Laughing it off, she continues on to the more serious stuff.

“But I was looking for someone to help me with some training. I haven't had much time to practice with my sword lately and I figures you would be able to help me, especially with your particular skills. I need to learn how to be more precise in my attacks. I can't rely solely on the size and weight of my sword to win every fight. Plus, I think it will help me with my control if I wasn't swinging it around wildly like last…”

She kinda fades off at the end with a wince as she remembers the unfortunate training incident on their travel here.
